Corrupted serial data when reading

Hello Friends
Im working on a project that read a string through the serial port from a flow meter.
the string that the flow meter sends has this pattern. its a comma separated string:
0021,00029504,00032622,0115,0,0,00000000,00000006,0000,00000000,00000000,0000,0,0,00000000,00000000,18:14:48,12/04/12,2110,00000000,0
i already proccesed the data with this VI (please fell free to give me any suggestions ). Please see 1.jpg
I am having the following issue. when receving data from serial, several strings show up corrupted. please see good.jpg and bad.jpg. i have tried to read the serial data on hyperterminal, and all strings show up ok.
i will appreciate any suggestions and advises on how to fix this!

Can you please advise on how to do this without actually monkeying around with the VISA inicialize?

You're gonna have to put that string into a shift register to bring it back around. Then you'll have to concatenate it with the current string (add a return so they end up on different lines) and take the output to your indicator. Be careful what you wish for... if it's updating 10 times a second, it will eat up memory like crazy.

Didn't realize you wanted to cut n paste to notepad... why not just take the original output to a file instead of an indicator? Cross beat me to it.

Using Serial Port for Non-Serial Data Acquisiton

I searched the forums and couldn't find anything related to this topic.
I saw that it was possible to use the parallel port for simple digital I/O and I was hoping the serial port can be configured the same. It seems all the VISA VI's only want to use the serial port to recieve ASCII chars at a given baud rate, but is it possible to simply poll the status of the serial line at my own speed to see if it is high or low, kind of like a single pin DAQ?
It seems it would be possible as long as the serial data is read and controlled by labview and not by Windows. Let me know if you have any ideas how to approach this problem, or any feedback as to why it is not possible.

Select Property>Serial Settings>Modem Line Settings. For example, the CTS State is an input to the pc.
Using these lines is a very poor replacement for a scope or DAQ board. The only things you can get back is Asserted, Unasserted, or Unknown. The range of acceptable signals is quite large. Anything between +3 and -3 is an unknown state. Your other signals are +/3 to 15 volts. what kind of signals do you actually want to capture?
edit: There is no such thing as VISA Status so I have no idea what you are actually using.

I always lose data when i read continous using serial

I am developping a application, using serial communication for data
acquisition.
This serial read data continuous.but when i click on the graph or made
a zoom i lose data in that interval ...

If I understand correctly what you're saying, there is a gap in you data when you click on the graph, or zoom in on it. If you have the acquisition and the graph in the same loop, you could be essentially pausing or slowing down the loop while you are interacting with the graph. I've never noticed this effect before myself, but it is possible.One solution might be to put the acquisition process in a seperate loop and pass data to the loop containing the graph in something like a queue.Mike...

How to process other task when reading the data from a file?

Hello,
I met a problem. I created a GUI to control the audio data processing. When the "Start" button is pressed, a block of data is read from the audio file and processed, then loop.But other buttons or method cannot be operated in that procession until all data is processed.
How to let the other methods work under that circumstance? Should I use multiple threads?

Error when reading data from socket

Hi,
I am getting the error 'NiRawReadError: An error occured when reading data from socket.' when using the ABAP API 'mo_core_service->invoke_matching'.
And I get this error only when I pass ABAP_TRUE to the paramter 'iv_wait_for_invocation' .
Can anybody help me in correcting this?

We are getting the following error in XI. It started on Jan 22 and resolved on Jan 23 automatically. Nothing has been changed and we don't able to understand how problem started and how it resolved:

Something is killing your DBMS connections out from under the driver.
Do you have a firewall between WLS and the DBMS, or a flakey network?
Contact BEA support to get the 8.1sp2 patch for getting meaningful
connection leak traces (CR209251_81sp2.jar). When that patch is installed
the leak messages should show a full stack trace of the application code
where the connection was obtained. It is that application code that
somehow failed to close the pool connection, causing a pool leak. I
suspect that the application code got an unexpected exception, such as
when/if the DBMS/network/firewall killed a connection. In this case I
believe the application went through an exception-handling path that
forgot to close the connection.

We are going to migrate db from oracle 10g to oracle 11g. But when compile a package which is fine on oracle 10g, an exception "Error report:No more data to read from socket" throws on sql developer and break the connection. We have researched the issue and found if modify some code on a cursor, the issue will not happen.

Please provide the 4 digit Oracle version (result of SELECT * FROM V$VERSION) for the source and target servers; 10g and 11g are not versions. You also mention sql developer so what is the exact version you are using?

You can't delete the "OF out_a.ALLOCATION_ID" of the for update clause or you would get a syntax error by leaving FOR UPDATE OF with nothing specified after it.

Does the original code compile on 10g or not? Does it compile on 11g or not? After the original code is migrated to 11g does it compile? That is, the code is there can you manually compile it?

Reading and analyzing serial data

Hello,
My question is about interpreting periodic serial data.
I'm trying to read a serial rs232 port, through which I'm receiving periodic data which is made up of 4 repeating messages.
Each message consists of several parameters of various length and fomates (for example, the first parameter could be an unisgned byte while the second parameter could be a word-long float). Each message begins and terminates with known character sequences.
I need to read this periodic data and display it to the user, so that each of the parameters (of which the messages are made) is displayed
by a different indicator.
Right now, I've used the basic read/write rs232 LabView tutorial but now I'm pretty much stuck...
I've built a similar program using Visual Basic and I've started using LabView in order to build better user interfaces but so far I'm stuck...
Any suggestions?

First, I think you really could have come up with a better user name then falling asleep on your "N" key.
Data that comes in through the serial port is a string. So your problem really comes down to how to parse the string into its respective parts. Look at the functions on the string pallete. Functions such as Match String, Search/Split String, or Scan String for Tokens, should do what you need. Once you have the parts broken up, the String to Number conversion functions would convert the strings into their appropriate datatypes.

Error when reading the DDIC-data for table

We upgraded from DMIS 2011 SP04 to SP07. We are in development system.
To test initial load, we stopped replication for an existing table and then started replication for the same table.
Mass transfer id connects ECC system to BW on HANA system.
Replication errored with the following message:
Error when reading the ddic-data for table MARD (RFC destination DWACLNT010).

Please tell what can be the cause of error. Where are the access data (URL, user, password) for the Adapter Engine read from?

Hello,
I have a problem when excecuting the transaction 'listcube' on a specific infocube. It occurs an error message which complains problem when reading the data of the infoprovider. The message text sounds as follows:
Error reading the data of InfoProvider ZDPPTGR1
Message no. DBMAN305
Diagnosis
Errors occurred while reading a VirtualProvider outside the BI system. Check whether the previous error messages contain any information about the possible cause of this error.
It is possible that the error message cannot be displayed because the error message class does not exist in the BI system. If this is the case, only the name of the error class and the message number are displayed. View the error message text in the specified error class in the source system of the VirtualProvider.
Procedure
Since the error is not necessarily in the BI system, there is no specific procedure for resolving it. With VirtualProviders, problems often occur with the connection to the remote system; these can lead to system termination. If the code for the VirtualProvider is not from SAP, contact the relevant contact person to help resolve the issue.
If an SQL error is listed in the previous message, see the procedure for SQL errors.
Has anybody experience with solving this problem? It sounds like a bigger problem - can somebody confirm this? Or is it a problem which is easy to solve?

No more data to read from socket when I try to open the control center

Hi everybody,
I'm using on production environment the following OWB:
Client: 10.2.0.3.33
Repository: 10.2.0.3.0
The control center worked very fine since a week ago, and now suddently when I try to login from the Design Center I get the error "No more data to read from socket"
I saw on the forum many thread relating the problem "No more data to read from socket", and my case is very close to the thread
Warehouse Builder error no more data to read from socket.
even if I'm using a different version of OWB...
Now, I found on metalink the Doc ID: 549303.1 "*Opening of The Control Center Manager Fails with: No More Data To Read From Socket*" , where there are 2 solutions:
1)This bug has been fixed in the Oracle 10.2.0.4 patchset and Oracle 11g database.
2) To workaround the issue change the value of the parameter "optimizer_mode" from ALL_ROWS into FIRST_ROWS.
In the thread above they found the solution setting the optimizer_mode=first_rows
....but I have two questions:
1) I have another envinronment (development) completely equal to the production env. (same OWB versions), where the Control Center works perfectly and the optimizer_mode=ALL_ROWS
Why in the development env., even if the optimizer_mode=ALL_ROWS, the control center works perfectly ???
2) How it's possible that suddently the control center crashed with this error ? I didn't change nothing (at the Db level and at the OWB level)
My last chance is to apply the Oracle 10.2.0.4 patchset, but I can't change the db version (actually I have 10.2.0.3.0)
I will appreciate any suggestion
