Cost Centre creat at Controlling Areal level or Company code level???

Hi,
I have a doubt,
1. Cost center is created at controlling area level or company code level.
2. Is it possible to create at company code level.
Please update me.
We have company code field in cost center master.
If we update this field, can we use same cost center for another company code also???
Thanks
Partha

Hi Joshi,
Thanks for your inputs.
We create cost center in CO under controlling area. [In cost center master there is one filed company, its not mandatory.]
Question is - If multiple company codes assigned to one Controlling Area, in this case -
Is it possible to utilize same controlling are for multiple company codes.
You tell me if possible, how it is possible?
Thanks
Partha

  • Valuation at plant level and company code level

    Hi,
Can someone explain me the difference between the valuation at plant level and company code level with a real world example?
    Regards,
    Malsha Kalubowila

    Hi,
Inventory can be valuated at two levels either at company code level or at plant level. If you select valuation at company code level, all materials across all the plants will have same material price since valuation is at only company code level.
Say for example Company code 1000 is buying a material which unit price is Rs. 10 from a vendor who supplies to two different plant A & B of company code 1000.  Assume Plant A is situated near vendor premises itself (so freight cost is Re 1 extra)  whereas plant B is situated at far away from vendor place (so freight cost rs 2 extra) and both cases freight cost is borne by the company and not by vendor.
Assuming you have selected valuation at plant level, now in plant A same material will be valauted at Rs. 11 (10 +1) whereas at plant B it is valuated at Rs. 12 (10+2).
Whereas if you have selected valuation at company code level, price will not be valuated at plant level rather at company code level which will get updated at moving average price in this case.
So it is always best practice to select valuation at plant level rather than at company code level.

    Hi,
    Client Level
The client is the highest level in the SAP System hierarchy. Data stored at client level can be accessed by all company code in the system.
    Company Code Level
The company code is the central organizational unit of external accounting within the SAP System. Data stored or created at company code level can be used with in company code.
    Customer Master Data
Customer Master data is divided into three parts:-
    Client Level
    Company Code Level
    Sales Area Level
    For Example:-
Customer Master created at client level like address data can be used by all company code. If customer A master data has been maintained at client level than company code ABCD and company code EFGH can extent customer at company code level and use customer for FI posting. Again if you want to use customer for SD than you need to extent it in SD area.
So, you can say that Master record created at client level can be used by all company code across the system.

  • How identify the data is client level, plant level or company code level

    Dear sirs,
    GM
How identify the data is client level, plant level or company code level?
If there is any T.code for same in SAP plz send me otherwise any procedure?
    Hopeeeeeeeeee....

    Hi,
Once you gain experience, you will not look at any table any field or any view...You will do it just like how you use keyboard once you pass type writing....
That is why every area of work, including master data is handed over to specialized teams...that will be their work day in and out....for some one newly entering, it will be little bit tough...once you practice, you will not be worried any more.  Of course, basic data at client level, purchasing data plant level etc...some thumb rules are there...still, you will take big blow by following such thumb rules because if you verify storage condition assigned in the storage location is not storage location level!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is experience!!  In this forum, it is good to practice rewarding...else, there may not be any more replies
    Good Luck

  • How to create an EHS Work Area on Company Code level?

    Hi,
Is it possible to create work area on company level?
(In CBIH02 the EHS work area can only be created within a Plant)
I had a look at the following transactions related to link a work area to Organization Management, I'm really
confused and have no idea how to realize it.
Path: EHS > Industrial Hygiene and Safety > Work Area > Link to Organizational Mangement
    PPSC - Create Structures
    PPSM - Edit Structures
    PPME - Edit Matrixes
    Help is much appreciated.
    Roy Derks

    Hi Roy,
I doubt on Company Level. As work Area's standard hierarchy goes like that - Work Area -- Plant -- Location -- Production Process -- Activity -- Machine -- Task.
I would revert back if I could get something.

    Hi
Which are the Settings in SD are At Client Level & At Company Code Level.???
I know that Batch management & Serial number profile is at Client Level.
    Regards,
    Amol

    Hi
SD strat with Sales Organization assign to company code, next is Distribution channel and Divisions, combination these 3 called as sales area. next is sales offcie and sales groups.
Client and company codes top most level in SAP and Company code defined in FI.
Batch mangement activate at Plant level and warehouse level, settings need to done on Material master and plant level not at company code level, but plant assigned to company code.
Same as Serial number profiles related to Plant and Material master, again here plant is link to company code and material created under plant.
So, no where direct link to Company codes.
    hopes it helps

  • Hi company code level

hi  what is company code level ,company level and COA level  can u explain how the transctions are stored and maintained what is the main differences explain step by step manner plz

A gl account can be created in two levels
1 chart of accounts level. All gl accounts are created in a chart of accounts level. Even though you create a gl account in COA level it is not possible to post to it.
2 Company code level. Not all gl accounts are created ina company code leve. To create the gl account account in company code level they need first to be created in COA.
When you create a gl account in COA level you are creating the number, description whethere p&l or b/s
When you creat gl account in company code level in  you have certain types like currency, fsg e.t.c.

  • Extending 200 GLs from COA to company code level at one go

    Hello All,
Wanted to know if there is any way of extending a list of GLs from COA level to company code level at one go?
I had copied about 300 GLs at COA level using OBA7 and now want to extend about 200 of them to a company code. Is there any transaction code with which I can copy/extend all these 200 GLs to the company code?
    jw

thanks Murali_Babu. N for your reply. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that you can use OBY7 to copy GLs from an existing COA to a new COA and then extend the required GLs from the new COA to a company code. I did the first step using OBY7 but then forgot what is to be done next. Thanks to you both, now I know we can do it with LSMW and also  BDC but wanted to know if there is any way by which I can continue with OBY7 and any other tcode.
    thanks.

  • Difference Between "Client Level & Company Code Level"

    Hello
Can any explain me the difference between client level and company code level?
What is the configuration that we do on client level and company code level?

    Message: Dear,
Client : Unit within SAP system, self-contained, separate master data with independent set of tables. It represent corporate group.
Company Code : Smallest organizational unit of external account for which a complete, self-contained bookkeeping system can be replicated.
e.g, company within a corporate group
Note: You will do the configuration at company code level by logging into the client for master tables etc..

  • Creating additional screen field in Vendor Master at Company Code Level

    Hi All,
I have to add some custom fields in Vendor master at Company Code Level.I have alraedy implemented a BAPI suggested by the system to add additional fields.
A  new Button is coming after implementing the BAPI , which gives me a space to add new custom fields , which i have appended at LFA1.
My problem is that , the new Button is visible at each screen, i.e Button is coming at Address tab, Control tab, all screen correspond to company code and all tab correspond to purchasing.
While i want that Button should only be visible at screens correspond to company code.
Please suggest how to acheive the same.

    Hello Karidhal Subhash -
I'm facing a similar problem. I've got my BADI working properly with the exception of...

  • KPSI (RKNMABTC) on company code level

    Hello,
I would like to ask, if somebody of you have already tried following:
We would like to run the KPSI (Plan reconciliation / target = actual-IAA) on company code level. It is possible e.g. if create an appropriate cost center group. The problem is, that if the KPSI already runs for other company code, error message KI718 appears.
Error message KI718: "Planning locked by user &1. User  is planning in controlling area XXXX, version XXX . Thus, plan reconciliation with update posting is not possible."
That means, that it is not possible to run two or more parallel plan reconciliations, it they refer to the same controlling area and version.
In my opinion this possibility should be offered by SAP, as you can have many companies within the same controlling area, which process their planning for their cost centers independet from the other companies.
Can anybody of you offer some solution?
    Thanks in advance
    Peter

    Hi Greta
My interest in this thread has increased, seeing you are from SAP
Peter was not ref to KSPI, but to KPSI...
The design of OMIK is such that, you can not execute LTP and KPSI for 2 company codes simultaneouly in all circumstances...
You have to maintain the parameters in OMIK for one Plant, Run LTP, Delete the entry in OMIK and then again repeat the steps for 2nd company code.... You can refer the OSS msg 1015121 / 2008 that I raised to SAP and the Development Request (DR)  No that I provided earlier in my reply
In My case, it was one Contr Area and 14 comp codes, so obviously, not possbile to run LTP for all of them at once....
My only point is when SAP allows and recommends to have one contr area and multi company codes - Then all other transactions including OMIK should permit me to maintain the required parameters at both KOKRS and BUKRS level...
I would be thankful if you can let me know any updates on the DR no that I mentioned

  • Can I create a single PO for two company codes

    Hi
Can I create a single PO for two company codes. Though I know that Company code is assigned at header level but still I know there is a setting in controlling which when activated two company codes under same controlling area can procure the goods under the same PO.But i forget from where to activate that message or control in config.
    Thanks

    Hi Lekhram,
I'm just beginner so maybe I got the wrong end of the stick.
If you order something that something must belong to a definite company > plant. How could possess two company the same thing at the same time (totally)?
(companies are at the same organisational level - none of them is subject to the other).
    Maybe I'm mistaken.
So I <b>guess</b> you can use only one company code for one PO.

  • Changing controlling area from single company code to cross company code

    Hi,
Due to my client requirement, in the middle of the year, we need to change the controlling area from being same as company code to cross company code controlling area. Although the currency is same. We are going to create a new company code. Is the changing controlling area settings possible to do? what are the precautions and changes need to be taken?
One more question, we need to change the company code when the new company code is created in the system in Cost Center Masters in the middle of the year. Is this possible after changing controlling area from single company code to cross company code. Right now company code is not appearing in the cost center master.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Saidarao

    Hi,
If both companies having transaction data its not possible,Normally before defining Organisational Strucutre only we have to deside both companies is assigning same controlling are or have to maitain separately for this we have to compare the Fiscal year,Operating chart of accounts ,if both having same then we will assign both the company codes to one controlling area if these two companies having different currencies also its not a problem. When we creating Controlling Area we have to choose option of controlling area as same company code (if one company code one controlling Area) for example if you assigning two companies then we have to use cross company code cost accounting. If u need any further information let me know.

    hi geeta,
ClientA Client is the highest unit within an SAP system and contains Master records and Tables. Data entered at this level are valid for all company code data and organizational structures allowing for data consistency. User access and authorizations are assigned to each client created. Users must specify which client they are working in at the point of logon to the SAP system.
A CompanyA Company is the unit to which your financial statements are created and can have one to many company codes assigned to it. A company is equivalent to your legal business organization. Consolidated financial statements are based on the companyu2019s financial statements. Companies are defined in configuration and assigned to company codes. Each company code must use the same COA( Chart of Accounts) and Fiscal Year. Also note that local currency for the company can be different.
Company CodesCompany Codes are the smallest unit within your organizational structure and is used for internal and external reporting purposes. Company Codes are not optional within SAP and are required to be defined. Financial transactions are viewed at the company code level. Company Codes can be created for any business organization whether national or international. It is recommended that once a Company Code has been defined in Configuration with all the required settings then other company codes later created should be copied from the existing company code. You can then make changes as needed. This reduces repetitive input of information that does not change from company code to company code as well as eliminate the possibility of missed data input.
Business Area Business Area is optional and is equivalent to a specific area of responsibility within your company or business segment. BA (Business Area) also allows for internal and external reporting.
Another configuration requirement for set-up in SAP are the Basic settings consisting of the following:
    Chart of Accounts(COA)
    Fiscal Year Variants.
    Currencies
    The COA(Chart of Accounts)
The COA(Chart of Accounts) lists all General Ledger accounts that are used by the organization. It is assigned in configuration to each company code and allows for daily General Ledger postings.
    Fiscal Year configuration
Fiscal Year configuration is a must and can be defined to meet your companyu2019s reporting periods whether Fiscal (any period combination that is not calendar) or Calendar( Jan-Dec).
Posting Periods are defined and assigned to the Fiscal Year.
Within the periods you specify start dates and finished dates.
SAP allows for 12 posting periods along with specially defined periods that can be used for year-end financial closing.
