Costimizing a macbook pro in a store

I want to buy a macbook pro but customized so do i have to do it online because i don't have a credit card. Can't i order in a store and can't you bring it???

This is user to user forums. Apple isn't here, (well there are moderators)
Apple sells what they sell in the stores, but if you need a custom model you have to order it online.
They will take a check in the mail and when it's cashed, deliver the computer, you have to persuade them a bit over the phone to do it.
You can also get a debit card, or a temporary credit card and load it up for this one purchase.

    Yes, on the right side of the U.K. Apple Store homepage there will be an "Education Store." You can get something like 10% off, it seems.

  • I want to talk to someone to be able to buy an apple macbook pro from a store and want to know if in stock

    I want to talk to someone from a local Apple store to be able to buy an apple macbook pro from a store and want to know if in stock before I make a long journey in. How do I do that? It seems Apple is very unfriendly? please help

    Just look up the store you want to go to and give them a call
    http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/
    Also, looking at the Dispatch & Deliver section - http://store.apple.com/uk/help/shipping_delivery
    it looks like UK stores simply do not offer the option of ordering online and picking up at your local store.
    Note that in the US web site, the equivalent page has a Personal Pickup section, which simply appears to not be an option in the UK?

  • Using a MacBook Pro in the Store

    I'm in the Apple Store in Walnut Creek, CA, using a MacBook Pro. They have a few on display and it's 2 hours before closing -- nobody's using them...weird.
    Anyhow, onto my impressions:
    This magnet thing is stronger than my powerbook adapter! I think if i tripped over the cord, the laptop would STILL go flying.
    Safari did not load right away...stayed blank. Reloaded Safari and it's really really fast.
    Word did not start right away, had to force quit. Now it works, don't see any differences in speed...
    Excel is so so
    iPhoto is really fast. It's way faster than my powerbook, but then again, my Powerbook iPhoto has over 10K photos/videos. This iPhoto has only 354 photos.
    iTunes -- can't really see any speed gains
    the biggest and coolest gain is the screen. sad to say to you guys out there, but with this screen and resolution, i don't see a need to get a 17".
    you can ALMOST put two full Safari screens side by side, but full screen pics in iPhoto are amazing.
    it's really bright, which i like.
    things i don't like are the magnetic adapter...man, can you say i really had to pull this thing? i'm not a weak guy either, i can bench press 200lbs and weigh about 155, not too shabby but definitely far from good.
    battery life is a no show...you know how like, when you unplug the adapter, you can see a remaining time? well, someone disabled it and i unplugged the magnetic adapter -- no battery life time, just the battery icon................c'mon guys....

    I'm heading to the Apple Store in Danbury CT tomorrow to test out a MacBook Pro. I'll happily post what I like and dislike here.

  • Can I buy a Macbook Pro from Apple store Singapore and send it to Italy?

    I' m wandering if I can buy a Macbook Pro Display Retina from Apple Store Singapore online and then send it to Italy. Please answer.
    Thank you :)

    They will not send it to Italy.
    If you want to take possession in Singapore and ship it yourself to Italy, you could.
    When it arrives in Italy, your new MacBook will be subject to VAT at its brand-new value, perhaps 17 percent of the full Retail price.
    I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish, but this does not seem to save you any money.

  • 13" MacBook Pro - Where to store the remote?

    Well, On my old black MacBook, there were magnets around the top frame around the screen and when I was at my desk, I would store my Apple Remote on the top corner of my screen. It was great because it would just "stick" there.
    On the new 13" MacBook Pro, the remote just falls off whenever I try and put it in those same spots. Its seems like it trys to stick there, but ends up turning around (in the way of the screen) or falling off.
    So I was just wondering has anyone else noticed this? Does my unit have unusually weak magnets....or are they all like this? If so, what do you do with your remote? (obviously, I can just put it on the table, but I liked having it above the screen - it was clever and made people go woah!)

    There was never a magnet specifically to hold the remote. It just happens that the magnet in the previous models was strong enough to grab the battery within the remote. It was never designed to do this... it was just one of those things that just happened to work.

  • Non-standard configuration macbook Pro in Apple Store

    After a few weeks I'll be in a tourist trip in Hong Kong. And I want to buy a macbook pro 13' non-standard configuration (i7 256gb 16gb RAM). All configurations are sold at the apple store? If not, can I have something to pre-book macbook and pick up on arrival? Or to apple brought him to the hotel?

    I had to open my Macbook to change hard drives today. I used one of these guides. http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/
    While I had it open I thought of cleaning the dust. I used a dust blower and a vaccum but I could see the fan was still dirty. I deciced to remove it. It was just 3 screws, I didn't disconnect any wires, just moved it to the side. There I saw 1/4 inch thick dust on the grill that separates the fan from the external. Looked something like this
    Dust sticks on the grill like lint on a dryer and there is no way to remove it without removing the fan. Now that it's clean I can't hear the fan anymore unless I put my ear on the keyboard, plus it doesn't have to run all the time because when it runs it's much more effective.

  • Bought Macbook Pro at University store -- why can't I exchange it?

    It's only been six days. I purchased my Macbook Pro under the impression that I'd have the usual 14-day return policy. My screen has some dead pixels, and I'd like to swap the system out. I went to the University of Iowa campus store and they told me that the computer I purchased there wasn't returnable, as well as all Apple products they sell. Is this possible through a legitimate Apple reseller? How can I get my model swapped out without sending it in for a week?

    If your new MBP is defective, then you should be able to return it for a replacement. Your best bet may be to contact Apple directly and tell them that their authorized retailer sold you a defective MBP and have told you that it cannot be returned. However, because it is defective, it needs to be returned and replaced with one that is not defective. If whoever you talk to first cannot help you, ask to talk to Apple Customer Relations. They are a higher tier, and they will be able to help you.
    I am surprised that the campus store would not accept the return of a defective product. In my experience, a retail store will usually take back a defective product within a few days after the sale, no matter what it is. If the product proves defective later on, but still while under warranty, you may have to contact the manufacturer directly.
    If you were told this by a clerk, you could ask to speak to the store manager. He or she may be able to authorize a replacement and send the defective unit back to Apple.
    Apple does not expect you to pay good money for a defective product. I think if you talk to them directly, being very nice and polite, you will get your replacement.
    Good luck!

  • Buying a macbook pro in the store?

    Hi everyone,
    I have a rather simple question but I couldnt manage to find the answer on the web so I decided to give it a post.
    I'm a student at the moment in shanghai and I will be visiting HK in a couple of days. During my trip i'd like to take a macbook pro (retina display) back with me to shanghai, since the notebook isn't available yet in china. So my question is the following.
    When I go to the Apple store in HK (since I will only be there for a couple of days) will I be able to get my notebook right away?, because I'm looking forward to upgrade the RAM and the Flashdrive so it will take some adjusting. Furthermore I am not informed about the student discounts in HK, do I need to show or prove it somehow?
    Thanks to everyone who read the post, I appreciate your efford
    BR
    Chriz

    As far as I know, neither the RAM nor the hard drive can be upgraded later in the new MBP with Retina display. I believe the RAM is actually glued in. If you want to have it configured by Apple, you need to order it online from the Apple store - I would assume that the stores will have certain stock models in stock. You would have to call the store to find out which models are available.

  • Macbook Pro 3 - success stories

    Hi,
    As I've recently purchased a Macbook Pro 3 (with Nvidia graphics card) I was wondering if anyone has had any luck install Arch on it (preferrably the 64 bit version).
    I myself have managed to install Arch (64 bit version) mainly following the directions on the wiki with some changes, but I still haven't managed to get X up and running.
    Any feedback from others having installed Arch is welcomed
    Kind regards,
    Simon

    Now my NVIDIA driver works right from the start! No more annoying NV driver ti NVIDIA workaround. One clever guy just changed the original NVIDIA driver! What a shame NVIDIA does not provide such simple solution themselves!
    To all of you suffering the same trouble a copy of the howto:
    1. Extracted the NVidia driver
    # sh NVidia....100.14.11.run -x
    2. go to src dir in the extracted folder and edit the "nv.c" file
    * changed this routine:
    __nv_init_sp = sp;
    return 0;
    ------------------------- with this one:
    __nv_init_sp = sp;
    for (i = 0; i < num_nv_devices; i++) {
    printk("Macbook Hack\n");
    struct pci_dev *dev = nv_linux_devices[i].dev;
    #define NV_WR32(p,i,d) (__raw_writel((d), (void __iomem *)(p) + (i)))
    unsigned long mmio_start;
    __u32 mmio_len;
    mmio_start = pci_resource_start(dev, 0);
    mmio_len = pci_resource_len(dev, 0);
    volatile u32 __iomem *REGS;
    REGS = ioremap(mmio_start, mmio_len);
    if(REGS) {
    NV_WR32(REGS, 0x1708, 0);
    NV_WR32(REGS, 0x1900, 0);
    NV_WR32(REGS, 0x1901, 0);
    NV_WR32(REGS, 0x1902, 0);
    NV_WR32(REGS, 0x1903, 0);
    NV_WR32(REGS, 0x1904, 0);
    NV_WR32(REGS, 0x1905, 0);
    NV_WR32(REGS, 0x1906, 0);
    NV_WR32(REGS, 0x1907, 0);
    iounmap(REGS);
    } else {
    printk("Error mapping memory\n");
    return 0;
    3. I installed the nvidia driver:
    #./nvidia-installer -aN
    4. I started X and everything is OK, but with some lost extentions.
    5. I loaded the extmod module in the xorg.conf in the Modules section, so the external extensions are available for X.
    Section "Module"
    Load "dbe"
    Load "extmod"
    Load "fbdevhw"
    Load "glx"
    Load "record"
    Load "freetype"
    Load "type1"
    EndSection
    and that's it.

  • Bought a Macbook Pro through education store - 3 year warranty? where?

    Hey,
    Bought my Macbook Pro through the educational discount & wasn't supplied with anything in writing or on the invoice stating that it was supplied with a 3 year warranty.
    How do I get this proof from apple?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    to get three years guarantee you basically have two choices: buy full AppleCare or an "AppleCare Parts&Labor-Aggreement", which is – educational price – less than half of it. It is a bring-in-guarantee, no telephone-support and no extra software like with full AppleCare.
    I donot know where to buy "Parts&Labor" in the US, in Germany one can buy it from a (good) retailer. I bought it together with my MBP directly from the Applewebstore (Edu–). It was offered as an option, couldn't find it separately on the site so I believe Apple isn't advertizing it to sell more of full AppleCare. There might be the option to get it via telephone from the Edu-Applestore.
    Take in consideration if you have an Applestore nearby or a Apple-Service-Provider…
    Greetings fro Germany

    my mac book pro does not allow to store a file in my 1tb seagate hard drive, anybody has an idea?

    One idea would be to post in the MacBook Prof forum, this forum is the iMac forum.However as long as you're here can you provide more information, are you referring to a specfic file, where are you attempting to save it on your HD and what type of file is it?

  • Better Specs MacBook Pro at Apple Stores

    Hi. I live abroad, but I'm going to travel this weekend to the US and I'm interested in a MacBookPro Retina Display but I want it increased RAM to 16 GB. As far as I know, one can only enhance a Mac through the online store which only accepts US Credit Cards. So, my question is: Do you have 'enhanced' macbooks at the stores or, definitely, the only way I have to purchase a 16 GB of RAM MacBookPro Retina Display is through the online store? Note that the second option makes it impossible for me to purchase one, because I have no US Credit Card. Which are my options?
    By the way, I have the same question with the MacBook Air of 8GB (no matter the screen size), are they available at the Apple Stores or just through the online stores?
    Thank you.

    This is not Apple. This is a user forum. If you need to ask the Apple Store a question:

  • Macbook Pro Retina In stores

    Are the MB Pro retina versions availble for puirchase in brick & mortar stores today?

    I called the Apple Store at Valley Fair (San Jose) at 10 am this morning and was told by the female who answered the phone (sales, business) that they just received a shipment, but none had arrived. I then called the store again at 11:45 am and was told the same thing.
    I called the store on my way home this evening at 7:00 pm and talked to a guy who said they had received several today (both 8 GB and 16 GB versions) and they immediately sold out. WTH? Unbelievable!
    I asked how was that possible, do they get multiple shipments during the day? His answer wasn't clear (I was on my car phone), but it sounded like he said something to the effect of yes.
    Don't know what the heck is up with that, but I think I'll show up first thing tomorrow morning and hang out in the store a while. I don't trust the people answering the phone now.
