Could not extract data from MS-SQL to BW( IBM DM400)

Hello,
I have creat one DB connect to extract data from MS-SQL to BW system(DB: IBM DB400).
I can show the data using display table contents in RSA1-- > source system -- > select database table.
But I can not extract data using infopackage after I  had generated DataSource.
The table/fields name have be made of upper case ,number and "_".
  could you help me ?
the best regards,

Hi Xiaopeng,
Have you checked for any related OSS Notes on that topic? In times of trouble, OSS does help a lot.
There might be some fix or patch on that issue...
Its pretty weird that you can see the data under BW from MSSQL and you cannot extract it. I think the problem lies on one of these things:
1.) Posting of request log in BW.
2.) Configuration of the MSSQL Data Source in BW.
3.) SAP Drivers (DBConnect) for MSSQL improperly installed.
4.) Authorization issues of the RFC user on BW side.
Hope I have helped and if i did, please grant points...

  • Extracting data from ms sql data base

    Hi Experts,
we have a requirement of extracting data from MS SQL data base, could any one pls help me with the approach to extract data
from ms sql data base(actually we have to extract the data from PRIMAVERA i.e the back end data base is MS SQL data base and the application is built on java)so we have got two options one is using ud connect and the other one is using PI(XI).i came to know the two approach have based on differenct methods, pull and push mechanism.and also for PI,it can be extracted using
real time data acquisition property in dtp and for db connect it don't support real time data acqusition.
so pls guide me,which mechanism would be feasible to extract the data from PRIMAVERA to SAP BI.and can you suggest with methods is more efficient.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi thanks for the reply,
initially we tried with db connect, but our Bi system(oracle) is mount on unix OS and the Primavera(MS Sql DB)is on windows OS.so we could not found the data base shared library  once if the DB client is installed on the application server.so we are working around with the other possibilities,so can you suggest me which could be favarable in our case.
    Thank You.

  • Extracting data from a SQL Server to BW

    Hi Experts,
Can somebody let me know how to extract data from a NON SAP
        SQL Server I mean
        1. Creating a Source System
        2. Connecting to the SQL server
        3. Creating datasources and extraction
        Kindly help me its urgent
        thank you
        arshad.

    Hi Ingo,
What I suggest is instead of extracting it to a file, can you use the function module which replicates this data to the mobile clients and use this function module to call the select statement. If a mobile client is able to access this info, then it must be doing a RFC call to some system whose logical system would have been in SAP as well. This is an assumption.
May be if you could call the same function to derive the required data instead of extracting it to a file and then uploading it.

  • Could not load data from database after adding a query

    Dear all,
I have a working crystal reports 2011 report. This report get its data from a BW 7.01 system provided by three bex queries. Everything works as expected but not I have to add a fourth query to the report then I get the following messages:
I try to translate it because I user the german version:
INFORMATION: In this report a stored procedure is used. Ensure that no SQL expression was added and no grouping on server side will be done.
WARNING: Data could not be load from the database.
WANING: Invalid argument provided. Details: The key figure structure isn't a valid field for report generation. Use instead the real keyfigures with teir units.
Has anyone an idea what can be the reason for my issue?
    Thanks and regards!

    hi Gerrit,
    a couple of questions...
    1) are you adding all 3 queries (and then the 4th) in the same data connection or are each of these additional queries in a subreport?
    2) if all 3 queries (and then the 4th) are in the same data connection are you linking them?
    3) most importantly, if you create a brand new report off of the 4th query, is it successful?
it's been quite a while since I've worked with bex queries but in general adding multiple queries (or stored procs or commands or combinations thereof)  to the same report is probably not a good idea. there ends up being a lot of processing happening in the crystal reports designer itself as a large virtual record set is created by the individual queries.

    Yes, windows to Mac too.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

  • SSIS 2014 - Best way to use parameters to extract data from sources

    Hi,
Is there any way besides SQL COMMAND FROM VARIABLE that I could use to extract data from Oracle \ SQL Server tables that filters the amount of data?
For instance, I want to extract in all sources data beyond 2007 so I wanted to use this year as a parameter in all OLEDB sources I will be using.
    Thank you

    Hi Pedro,
Based on my research, the Microsoft OLE DB provider for Oracle and Oracle Provider for OLEDB does not allow parameterized queries in OLE DB Source. So the best method to achieve your requirement is still using SQL COMMAND FROM VARIABLE option as Data access
    mode.
Considering construct your query in a variable which you can include your parameter dynamically with another variable and set the variable properties "EvaluateAsExpression" to true. In the Expression Property set the value to:
     "select * from test
    where Col1='" + (DT_WSTR,100) @[User::para]  +"'"

  • Reading data from Sybase SQL Anywhere 7 database to write into a SQL Server database

    Hi,
I need to import data from a Sybase SQL Anywhere vers. 7 database. This RDBMS was used more 10-12 years ago. I want to write Sybase data into a SQL Server 2008 R2-2012 database. For testing purposes I'm using SQL Server 2005.
After that I've installed Sybase SQL Anywhere vers. 7 I can use the Adaptive Anywhere 7.0 ODBC. I'd like to use SSIS to import Sybase data, but I cannot create an OLE DB connection in a right manner while I can create and ODBC connection manager and so I
can use an Execute SQL task (and not a data flow task, unfortunately!).
Well, after using this Execute SQL task to read fe a table with thousands of data rows how can I write the entire data collection on a SQL Server table?
    Thanks

  • Can not extract data into BW from SQL SERVER

    Dear All,
I meet a problem to extract data from database(MS SQL Server 2000(sp3)) into BW now and can not extract data into BW ODS, even PSA, In the monitor, display yellow light(0 from 0 record), detail message just display message "data request arranged" "confirmed with: confirmation" in requests(message) step; "missing message: request received" in extract (message)  step; "no data" in processing(data packet) step and so on. but in fact, there are two records in my database test table and DB connection is OK. Even I can extract data from another test oracle database into BW ODS successfully.
Our BW system has two BW applicaton server and use oracle database. the one application server locates on IBM AIX host. the another one locates on one NT server. the application server on NT server is used for data extration from MS SQL SERVER  database into BW oracle database. and MS SQL SERVER and NT platform application server locate on same one host. DBSL was installed on the NT application server already. and DB connector also was created successfully for MS SQL SERVER and datasource also was generated. DBSL type is Kernel640-WIN-IA32bit-unicode. my BW system is ECC5.0/UNICODE/ORACLE. all table/view/field name of MS SQL server is upcase and have not any specific character. for example: ZDEMO etc.
    wait your help.

  • How to extract data from custom made Idoc that is not sent

    Hi experts,
Could you please advise if there is a way how to extract data from custom made idoc (it collects a lot of data from different SAP tables)? Please note that this idoc is not sent as target system is not fully maintained.
As by now, we would like to verify - what data is extracted now.
    Any help, would be appreciated!

    Hi,
The fields that are given for each segment have their length given in EDSAPPL table. How you have to map is explained in below example.
Suppose for segment1, EDSAPPL has 3 fields so below are entries
    SEGMENT          FIELDNAME           LENGTH
    SEGMENT1         FIELD1                   4
    SEGMENT1         FIELD2                   2
    SEGMENT1         FIELD3                   2
Data in EDID4 would be as follows
    IDOC           SEGMENT                          APPLICATION DATA
    12345         SEGMENT1                        XYZ R Y
When you are extracting data from these tables into your internal table, mapping has to be as follows:
FIELD1 = APPLICATIONDATA+0(4)        to read first 4 characters of this field, because the first 4 characters in this field would belong to FIELD1
    Similarly,
    FIELD2 = APPLICATIONDATA+4(2).
    FIELD3 = APPLICATIONDATA+6(2).
    FIELD1 would have XYZ, FIELD2 = R, FIELD3 = Y
This would remain true in all cases. So all you need to do is identify which fields you want to extract, and simply code as above to extract the data from this table.
Hope this was helpful in explaining how to derive the data.

  • Extract data from a BW 7.0 cube to a SQL DB using Data Services XI

    Hi Gurus,
We are trying to extract data from a BW 7.0 cube to a SQL DB using Data Services XI, the issue is that we can not read text without making "joins" between SID in the fact table and the master data tables. Do you know if it is posible to read text in a natural way?
    Best Regards

    Thanks Wondewossen,
As you know, the DataStores (Data Services) provide access to:
    1.-Tables
    2.-Functions
    3.-IDOCs
    4.-Open Hub Tables
We are trying to extract data using the first one (Tables), not using Open Hub.

  • Using SQL Server 2012 SSIS to Extract Data From SAP

    Hi
What is the current best practice for using SQL Server 2012 SSIS to extract data from SAP R3? Please note we are looking for a solution that does not use SAP BW or SAP OHS.
Ideally we would like to build our ETL SSIS process to make a .NET call to an SAP RFC procedure and avoid using web services.
With SS2012 can we use any of these without using SAP BW:
    - SAP .NET Connector
    - MS ADO .NET
    - BizTalk .NET 3.0 Adapter
    Thanks and take care,
    Shayne

    Hi Shayne,
You can use the .NET Framework Data Provider for mySAP Business Suite along with SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS) to import data from an SAP system into SQL Server database tables, flat files, or other compatible destination types. You can create an SSIS
package that can be executed to import data from an SAP system.
You must use the SQL Server Import and Export wizard to import data into the SQL Server database. You must provide a select query to specify data to be imported. The query must confirm to the semantics supported by the Data Provider for SAP. You can start the
SQL Server Import Export Wizard either from the SQL Server Management Studio or from an Integration Service project in Visual Studio. Detail steps please see:

How might this be done? I am struggling finding the object that does thisThere could be any number of ways. It could be SQL Server connecting to the oracle database and querying the data directly. It could be a script on the SQL Server server that connects to Oracle and extracts the data. It could be a script on the Oracle server that extracts the data and then pushes it across to the SQL Server server. It could be a completely different script sitting on an unrelated server connecting to both databases. It could be a scheduled job running on the Oracle database that extracts the data and moves it across..... and so the list goes on.
It's unlikely we'll be able to tell you anything as you are the one with access to your servers.
