Couldn't fetch UME users from NWDS
Hi Experts,
I installed a CE 7.3 developworkspace in my laptop, and I'm develping some BPM demos.
I created a task in the process compoent, and then I want to assign a potential user. I choose the User type, then input the user name and click search button. But the dialog seems has no response to this. The result is nothing, but the user has been created in the UME.
Actually, this function was correct before. I could find user when I tried this demo first time. But it don't work right now.
I don't know why. I'm sure the NWDS has been found the local server, I could build and deploye projects successfully.
I think this maybe a bug of the NWDS, hope get some suggestion from you. Many thanks.

I think that the problem I want to discuss is well-known, but still I got no answer whatever I tried ...
I installed the BIEE on Linux (32 bit, OEL 5 - to be more precise), the complete installation was not a big deal. After that I installed the Administration tool on my laptop and created the repository. So... my tnsnames.ora on the laptop looks like this:

The database worked normally and I created and transferred the repository to the server and started it up.
It started without any errors, but when I tried to fetch the data via the representation services I got the error:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
[nQSError: 16023] The ODBC function has returned an error. The database may not be available, or the network may be down. (HY000)
I discovered, that the ODBC on my laptop was named not correctly (it should have been identical to tnsnames entry) - so I corrected it, saved and replaced the repository on the server and restarted it... - and still got the same error.
Apparently, something is wrong with the data source. So let me put here some more information...
My user.sh looks like this:

Can anybody point a finger where the error line is? According to the documentation it should work fine.Maybe the driver name is wrong? What driver I need then?

I'm really sorry to bother, guys :) Let me know if you get some ideas about it (metalink didn't help).OK, several things wrong here. First the odbc.ini is not meant to be used for Oracle databases, that's not supported on Linux. On Linux you should OCI (Oracle native drivers) and nothing should be added on odbc.ini. Your user.sh seems to be pointing to your DB installation path. This is not correct. It should point to your Oracle client installation so you need to install the Oracle FULL client somewhere. Typically this is normally done with the same OS account as the one used for OBIEE whereas the DB normally runs with the oracle account. Once you got the client installed test it under the OBIEE account doing tnsping and sqlplus to your DB. Also the LD_LIBRARY_PATH should point to $ORACLE_HOME/lib32 not lib as the lib directory is the 64bits and OBIEE uses the 32bits libraries even in 64bits OSes. Finally change your RPD connection to use OCI. Make all those changes and you should be good.

Migrate Users from Backend to DOE
As part of a project, we would like to migrate the Users from the CRM Backend to the DOE to save time and not creating them manually.
I couldn't find any hint how to do this, the only thing i found is the Activation of AUTH_DWLD_BE_DEST in the DOE Portal. But how do i load all Users from the CRM to the DOE?

Tobias AbbIn the same link, there are steps to download user authorizations and user details under the menu item 'Setting up Users in Data Orchestration Engine'. This will fetch the users from your configured backend destination (CRM in your case) and persist them in the DOE.
However, this will not create users within the DOE. It will only download their identities as specified in the backend itself, and these attributes are enough (and also necessary) to assign these users to devices.
You can set up a job to automatically pull the deltas from the backend every week or so, so that the data is up to date in the DOE.
However, creation of users in the DOE automatically upon creation of a user in the backend needs to be via some sort of push from the backend itself. i.e. Say you have a report in the backend which you use to create users. You can probably use APIs exposed by BASIS to push such users to the DOE system (i.e. remotely create them in the DOE system) whenever this report is used to create a user in the backend. This activity however is outside the purview of the DOE itself, since it must be initiated by the backend.
EDIT: You can also try the transaction 'SDOE_MIGRATION'. If you select 'Generic synchronization' and choose 'Migrate Users' only, you might be able to pull data from the CRM system. However, the report is actually intended to pull users from the old MI version for customers upgrading from older versions of MI to the DOE (7.10) who want to retain their middleware users in their new middleware system. However, I am not sure how this will turn out.

I have used LDAP API classe and I am able to connect to eDirectory. Now
I wnat fetch all User or User by criteria order by name or any thing.
can we have some utility or approch to do this task.

Since you are talking about receiving emails, do you see the emails in SOIN transaction (or report RSBCSIN)? Have you tried telnet directly to the SAPConnect plugin as described on note [607108|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/607108]
What is the value of parameter is/SMTP/virt_host_<*>?

Synchronize users from IDM Idenity Store to UME

I would like to synchroznize my users from IDM Identity Store to UME Java, I read this document "User management for the Identity
Management User Interface" but it is only for version 7.1, I use IDM 7.2 Sp8. I can't find job templates to ume.
I would like to provide users able to access portal:5000/idm, now only administrator can logon to the portal.

For logging to IDM UI , IDM would match the MX_PESON with the UME user and allow the user to access IDM UI if both matches.
Please give idm.authenticated action access via any UME Role or group to users, You can add this action to Everyone group in UME.
For creating users in JAVA UME, You need to create one repository for UME as AS JAVA and choose standard job Create AS JAVA users from SAP Provisioning framework to create users.
Let me know in case any further information is required, I am also on IDM 7.2 SP8

Error while fetching Users from AD Tree
Dear Gurus,
I am connecting my NetWeaver 7.01 GRC ABAP stack to AD for fetching the Users. I have successfully created the LDAP Server, Connector and System User and I am able to connect to the AD.
The problem I am facing is that when I put my Base Entry as the bootom level, I am able to create users using RSLDAPSYNC_USER program but when I put the base entry as my top level DC, it gives an error "Operation Failed" with code no LDAPRC001.
Kindly guide if I can fetch all users in a single go, using the top level base entry? Otherwise it will be very difficult for me to identifiy all low level OUs and then fetching data individually changing base entry every time.

Attribute to lock Portal UME user
Hi SAP Expert,
Does anyone know the attribute for locking UME user id in Portal Batch Import?
I am trying to use 'Portal batch import' to mass lock portal users, that is by importing a batch file with corresponding uid. I search up and down and couldn't find the attribute that responsible for the lock status in portal.
Have anyone experience a similar issue and know where to look for the lock attribute label?

It sounds like you already have a text list of users, who have left the company and the list is too long to easily search for each individual user and lock them.
One thing you could do is the following:
1. Create a group called temporary.
2. Add this group to all the users as follows:
[user]
uid=john.doe
last_name=doe
group=temporary
If your SAP NetWeaver system is 7.0 or earlier, this removes all other group assignments from these users! If you have SAP NetWeaver 7.1, you can use the following syntax:
group=+temporary
. This add the gorup assignment without removing the others.
3. Start identity management and display all users who are members of this group.
4. From the Table selection menu, choose Select All.
5. Choose Lock.
6. Enter the reason for the lock.
7. Choose Lock.
This seems to be a rather roundabout way to achieve your goal. Unless you are talking about thousands of users, it still might be easier to lock each user by hand:
1. Start identity management.
2. Copy the user name into the search field.
3. Search.
4. Select.
5. Lock.
Repetitive, but not nearly as destructive.
SAP NetWeaver Identity Management offers additional functions, enabling you to trigger the locking of users automatically and removing all authorizations, say if your HR system changed the users status. But it does not sound like you have that option right now.

Error while deploying from NWDS

i am getting the following error while trying to deploy a PAR file from NWDS through export.
PAR upload failed:C:\Documents and settings\Trials\Trials.par
Please check the userid and password.
i cross checked the userid and password.both are correct. the same par file is deployed successfully in other servers.
this error occurs only for PAR file deployment. other applications like webdynpro and all are deploying successfully.please help.

i want to inform onething to all of u . we thought that it may be problem in SDM. so we checked SDM also. in that a process (deployment) is still going on. so we r not able to enter into it. it is like a infinitive for loop. so, that may be the cause which doesnt allow other deployments.
Can any one tell me how to kill that process. it is something relevent to J2ee engine administration i hope.
What i mentioned above is only our decision , we are not sure that whether it is the exact reason or not. so if anyone encountered the same problem and solved please guide me or any docs related to this also will be helpful.

Couldn't find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
Last week I installed an MSO 2004 update on my G5 iMac running 10.4.11.
Then I attempted to repair permissions. The repair permissions process
halted at about half of the progress bar. I let it cook for about two
hours without success, then tried to force quit Disk Utility. I
couldn't force quit it, so I very reluctantly turned off the Mac;
something I've rarely ever done. I waited five minutes and then turned
the Mac back on. The startup sequence progressed to the point where the
system displays the gray apple on the gray background, and the circular
progress indicator or gear begins turning. I let it turn for one hour
and then powered off the iMac, then powered it back up with the same
results.
I powered it off again and then commenced a Safe Boot. Same results as
before.
I powered it off again and then started it in Single User Mode. No
problem. I ran /sbin/fsck -fy. No problem.
I typed "reboot" and it rebooted. This time I start it in Verbose mode.
After the preliminary startup code, the system began repeating the same
message lines:
dsFindDirNodes returned -14071, count = 0 count = 2147483646
Couldn't find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
A Google search produced very few results. I don't have a backup
because I inherited this iMac from my 75 year old semi retired father
who wanted a 20-inch Intel iMac instead. I just goof around with the G5
iMac from time to time, and am considering giving it to my little niece and
nephews. It worked great for about a month. I have customized my
user account and the accounts for the little ones, so I really don't
want to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Tiger again from scratch.
I booted from the suspect internal hard drive into single user mode.
I ran /sbin/fsck -fy on the internal hard drive.
All tests passed.
I ran fsck_hfs on the internal hard drive.
It returned a message that stated that I needed
to add additional information.
I ran fsck_hfs with several switches enabled, but
it continued to return this message.
I performed the procedures in Apple's article 107210
"Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server: How to Replace the NetInfo
Database (Restoring from defaults).
This did not solve the problem.
I booted this computer from my external Firewire hard drive that I use
to create nightly backups on my G4 iMac using SuperDuper!.
I ran Disk Utility Repair Disk Permissions on the
internal hard drive.
There were no permissions errors.
I ran Disk Utility Repair Disk.
All tests passed.
I ran the TechTool Pro Suites --> Advanced Tests on
the internal hard drive.
All tests passed except for "Startup File" which it
listed as " <Not Present>".
The description of this test is:
"This test checks the Startup file. The parameters
within this file contain the information used by
the computer ROM to determine what program will
boot the computer as well as other system-specific
aspects."
I ran the TechTool Pro Performance --> Maintenance
routine on the internal hard drive.
It completed the maintenance successfully.
I ran DiskWarrior on the internal hard drive.
It reported no directory errors, but I replaced it
anyway.
While booted from the external Firewire hard drive, I viewed what
appears to be the proper compliment of folders on the internal hard
drive. Of course, I didn't examine and verify every subfolder in the
hierarchy, however, examining the Applications, Library, System, and
Users folders two deep seemed to indicate that everything was there.
I booted this computer from my Tiger installation disk. I selected
Utilities --> Reset Password... (I think.). It listed only the
Administrator account (root) on the internal hard drive. It did not
list the other three accounts that I created on this hard drive, even
all three respective folders are present in the Users folder. However,
it did list all four accounts on the still attached external Firewire
hard drive.
By every measure, this drive and its directory are sound. I am
concerned that TechTool Pro reported that the Startup File is Not
Present. Beyond the meaning that the words suggest, I'm not sure what
this really means. I checked the Micromat site and found the following:
The Startup File has been defined but not yet
implemented by Apple.
What does the message signify:
dsFindDirNodes returned -14071, count = 0 count = 2147483646
Couldn't find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
Can I effect a simple repair?

Need to deploy custom adapter module from NWDS 7.1 to PI server, Please help me to know exact access/authorization role required one developer to publish the module.
I have gone through many blogs and thread but not able to find exact administrator role which help to deploy the custom module on PI server.
Error I am getting in NWDS 7.1, while deploying module:
Could not establish connection to AS Java on [<server detail>]. Authentication did not succeed. Wrong or missing security credentials (password) for principal [PIUSER], or the specified principal has no permissions to perform JNDI related operations.

Hi All,
I would like to deploy ear file from NWDS.
I did meny times in the other projects from context menu.
I have configured from windows>preferences>SAP J2EE engine--> Remote -->

I would like to retreive all USERS from the AD.
I finaly could connect to an AD server but I couldn't perform the search.

How to pre-populate the sender's mail and attach a pdf report.
I mean....supppose i want to prepopulate the senders email field in a email dialogue box and the have an option to attach a report to the mail...so that a mail can be sent to the senders mail id as well as the recepients id.
