Count Distinct in Pivot table totals? OBIEE 11.1.1.5

Hi,
I have got a column that counts distinct customers per each month of the year and at the end of the analysis, it should show distinct customer count of the year as TOTAL. How can it be achieved? Is it possible to customize pivot table totals?
Example:
Month Customers
Jan          10
Feb          20 (10 new customers)
Mar           15  (5 new customers)
TOTAL: 25 (distinct values --> 10+10+5)Thanks in advance.

Hi MK,
I tried it already and it does not work. It takes the distinct value of each month, which is month's count distinct and then it sums. So the total is 45 (10+20+15) not 25.
Thanks for you reply.

    Hi,
Please let me know how to add scroll bar for a pivot table in OBIEE reporting Tool
    Thanks,

    Hi Usha,
Not sure about directly implementing scroll bars in a pivot table in OBIEE.
But you can try using an IFrame which would display this report (pivot table) inside it. If the report increases in size (defined size of IFrame), it would automatically add scrollbars to the view.
Let me know if you need more info on these lines.

  • SSRS matrix click on the count like a pivot table to get details

    Hi,
I am trying to create a matrix report to work similar to a pivot table, where when a user clicks on the count, the details are displayed. When I add the action to open a sub-report, how do I pass in the parameter values for the group that was selected? meaning
if in row group- I have company name, and column group I have job title, when the count gets clicked, i need to pass in the company name for the row that was clicked along with the column group. How can I proceed?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi NewCSharpUser,
According to your description, you have created a main report which contains company name as row group and job title as column group. And a drill through report which contains company name as a parameter to filter the data. When you click the data region
in the main report, you want to display corresponding details in the drill through report filtered by the company name, right?
In your scenario, you could add a “Go to report” action, then specify a parameter to filter the drill through report. Please refer to steps below:
    1. Design the main report like below:
    2. Preview the report.
    Reference:
Drillthrough Reports (Report Builder and SSRS)
If the method couldn't meet your requirement, please share you report design and expected results for our analysis.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Pivot table total on a computed column not showing when using a filter

I have this strange issue. I will try to explain.
I have three columns in my report - Delivered Qty, Opened Quantity, and the third one is computed that is (Delivered Qty - Opened Qty). The data is displayed in a table by quarter. So basically I have Quarter, Delivered Qty, Open Qty, Not Opened Qty. I also have the total row. A pie chart shows the opened vs. un-opened quantities. It all works fine.
The issue is when I add a prompt and the corresponding filter, the total for the computed field is blank. This happens whether it is pivot table or a regular table. That causes the pie chart to show 100% for the Opened qty.
When I remove the filter, it works again. I can see the total for the computed field and the pie chart looks great.
Can anyone please help me? I have a number of hours trying to play around with this and also looked in the forum to see if any one might have already discussed similar issue in the past. I could not find any.
    Thanks.

I found the issue with my table total not showing up. Basically the new materialized view had its own data table alias. However, in the filter I was using date columns from different date table alias (copy and paste problem). As soon as I changed to the right date columns from the associated alias table, the row total showed up.
    Thanks anyways for your support.

  • How to place the page items horizontal in pivot table in OBIEE

    Hi experts
In pivot table i have two pages items. And i want to place them horizaontaly. So how can i achieve this.
for Ex: I have placed my two columns in page section of pivot table: Year, city.
    then i need as ;
    Year City
where year is one dropdown list and city is another drop down list.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Sunil

    Hi,
We can seperate the page items using 'Start New Page Drop Down', but the item will be displayed in the next line.
I think you would like to show them side by side i.e, horizontally..
If it is, i think it is not possible as of OBIEE 10.1.3.3.. not sure about 10.1.3.4..
Please let me know if my assumption is wrong.. I will be very happy if anyone corrects me..:)

    1) Make a duplicate layer of the measure column.
    2) Move the duplicate layer to the far left in the Rows section.
    3) Apply the desired sort order.

    Try this:
Put the Measure Labels in the Rows section, the Company column in the Columns section, and your Measures in the Measures section.

  • Pivot Table Total Value

In OBIEE 11.1.1.6 version, I drag one brand column, one year column and two measure column named 'Revenue','Quantity'
    For one requirement:
    ------------------------------------2008--------2009--------2010
    Brand
    BizTech--- -----Quantity-----1000--------1001---------1002
    -------------------Revenue-----2000--------2001---------2002
    FunPod--- -----Quantity-----1000--------1001---------1002
    -------------------Revenue-----2000--------2001---------2002
    HomeView ---Quantity-----1000--------1001---------1002
    -------------------Revenue-----1000--------1001---------1002
    Quantity Total----------------3000---------3003---------3006
(Customers do not want to display Revenue Total, Is it possible to implement it? )
    Thanks

    Hi,
If I make use of New Calculated Item and group method, I can not select measure name , only choose dimension column,
Addtionally, 'Revenue' and 'Quantity' is measure column name which will be dragged into the row area.
If I add new group, the 'Revenue' and 'Quantity' will be also existed.

  • Obiee spurious pivot table non-total figures

    Hi,
My problem is that a pivot table in conjunction with non-hierarchical columns presents figures where no figures exist at data level rather than pivot table totals.
    OBIEE version 11.1.1.7.0
    Essbase version 11.1.2.3
I have an Essbase data source for my subject area.
I have a column (dimension) 'Account' which has the structure (in Essbase) Account is parent of 'Total Income and Expenditure' is parent of 'Total Income' and 'Total Expenditure'. I filter to only include 'Total Income' and 'Total Expenditure' in my query.
I have a column (dimension) 'Entity' which has a number of tiers of which I am including in the query only the first level of children of Entity.
My problem is that in a number of rows I get figures against 'Total Income' where when I check against the source this should be null, all of the way down the hierarchy - i.e. there are no figures at all so this cannot be an aggregation issue.
I am not doing anything exotic on the business layer in terms of alternative aggregation sources.
If I use a hierarchical column I get the correct numbers, but I do not want to in this case.
    Any input appreciated.
    thanks,
    Robert.

Use expression sum(Marks by Name) in the FX of mark measure in the criteria tab and set the property to suppress the values for measure column.
appreciate if you mark as correct.

  • OBIEE 11g - How to create clean looking pivot tables

Hi, does anyone have a good way to clean up the appearance of pivot tables in OBIEE 11g? I'm a big fan of Stephen Few and firmly believe in the "minimize non-data ink" theory. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of stuff on OBIEE pivots that I can't easily clean up. Does anyone have ideas for:
    1. How to remove the "gray" / "beige" coloring from column and row dimension? I opened a ticket with Oracle 6 months ago, and basically they've just responded that it is a "enhancement request" for a future version (aka not going to see it for a LONG time)
    2. For my "across" dimension, I don't seem to have a good way to show the dimension name. There is an option under "column properties" to "display heading" - but when this is turned on it scrunches the heading up directly over the column that has the down dimension members. I really want this to go across the pivot.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Scott

    Hi,
    Steps,
Just create DSN (odbc connection for the excel data source) then try to import via rpd that time u must need to select "System Tables"

  • Need to eliminate Space between two Pivot table view  in OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
I have a requirement to eliminate space between two pivot table views. In a single report I have two Pivot table with two different column, I placed both of them one after another, but I need to eliminate the space between two pivot table views as if it should show as a single pivot table in OBIEE 11g.
Could anyone please let me know how I can do this in OBIEE 11g?
    Thanks in Advance
    Anirban Mitra

If I create narrative view it will be another view. And if I put that in between that two pivot view, it will show the space. I need to remove space between two pivot table within a single report so that it can appear as a single pivot view.
    Thanks

  • Mimic "show data as percent of row parent" in non-pivot table

Is it possible to implement or mimic the 'percentage of parent row' functionality, foreseen for pivot tables in obiee 11g, for a 'normal' table?
We use a rather fixed table, in which no drilling is allowed - conditions are applied by means of prompts and filters. The report is based upon the store dimension, which has as hierarchy: country > cluster > store. We have added a column to represent the 'share' of a store's net turnover in the cluster total. The results looks like:
    country  cluster  store  turnover   share
    =======  =======  =====  ========   =====
    belgium  1        a        20.000   66.7%
                      b        10.000   33.3%
             cluster total:    30.000  100.0%
             2        c        40.000   57.1%
                      d        30.000   42.9%
             cluster total:    70.000  100.0%
    country total:            100.000  100.0%
    holland  3        e        50.000   71.4%
             4        f        20.000   28.6%
             cluster total:    70.000  100.0%
    country total:             70.000  100.0%
grand total:              170.000  100.0%Instead of all the total levels showing as 100% however, we would like to see each sub-total represented as a percentage of the level above, much like the forementioned pivot table functionality. For the example above that would mean it should look like:
    country  cluster  store  turnover   share
    =======  =======  =====  ========   =====
    belgium  1        a        20.000   66.7%
                      b        10.000   33.3%
             cluster total:    30.000   30.0%
             2        c        40.000   57.1%
                      d        30.000   42.9%
             cluster total:    70.000   70.0%
    country total:            100.000   58.8%
    holland  3        e        50.000   71.4%
             4        f        20.000   28.6%
             cluster total:    70.000  100.0%
    country total:             70.000   41.2%
grand total:              170.000  100.0%Any advice or idea would be greatly appreciated...
