Obiee spurious pivot table non-total figures

Hi,
My problem is that a pivot table in conjunction with non-hierarchical columns presents figures where no figures exist at data level rather than pivot table totals.
OBIEE version 11.1.1.7.0
Essbase version 11.1.2.3
I have an Essbase data source for my subject area.
I have a column (dimension) 'Account' which has the structure (in Essbase) Account is parent of 'Total Income and Expenditure' is parent of 'Total Income' and 'Total Expenditure'. I filter to only include 'Total Income' and 'Total Expenditure' in my query.
I have a column (dimension) 'Entity' which has a number of tiers of which I am including in the query only the first level of children of Entity.
My problem is that in a number of rows I get figures against 'Total Income' where when I check against the source this should be null, all of the way down the hierarchy - i.e. there are no figures at all so this cannot be an aggregation issue.
I am not doing anything exotic on the business layer in terms of alternative aggregation sources.
If I use a hierarchical column I get the correct numbers, but I do not want to in this case.
Any input appreciated.
thanks,
Robert.

Use expression sum(Marks by Name) in the FX of mark measure in the criteria tab and set the property to suppress the values for measure column.
appreciate if you mark as correct.

  • 11g Pivot Table Prompt Totals

I've created a pivot table in which I have two columns listed in the Pivot Table Prompts area (formerly known as the pages area in 10g).
When editing the pivot table, the Layout section shows a summation icon beside the words Pivot Table Prompts. I've clicked that icon, and selected before.
The dropdown list for the first-listed (leftmost) column in the Pivot Table Prompts now shows an entry of All Values above the detail values, as it should.
However, the dropdown list for the other column does NOT have an All Values entry.
Furthermore, selecting the All Values entry for the first column HIDES the dropdown list for the second column entirely, and the pivot table shows a grand total of all values for the second column.
This makes no sense. I want to see All Values for my first column, and still be able to select individual values for my second column, or perhaps select an All Values for the second column.
There is zero documentation on this feature, as the OBIEE 11g User Guide does not contain the string Pivot Table Prompts.
Has this been reported as a bug?

Well, I'll be darned. You are exactly right. 10g behaves exactly the same way when using two page dropdowns.
So yes, it was inherited from 10g. But then again, I inherited high blood pressure from my parents. That doesn't make it a desirable trait.
And there IS an obvious workaround: just create an ALL VALUES calculated member for each of those dimensions.
Thanks for the reply. Credit given for the correct answer.

  • Pivot table - Grand total Error

    hi,
I am getting incorrect totals in my Pivot table.
i.e The Grand Total is not giving the exact sum.
    pls direct me..
My scenario: I need to calculate the total expenses per region and quarterwise.

i havent used any aggregation rule.
In the Answers, i have designed the Pivot table in the below format
    [i simply drag-dropped the Columns]
I should give the grand total regionwise and also quarterwise.but the grand totals arent displaying the proper results.
    pls advise.
    Ex:
    region          Q1     Q2     Q3     Region- Grand total
    AAA          20000     50000     120000     xxxxxxx
    BBB          22240     13456     111500     xxxxxxxxx
Qtr-Grand Total     zzz     zzzz     zzzz     nnnnnnnnn

  • Pivot Table Grand Total

Newbie Question: How do I add a Grand Total of my columns in a pivot table?
    Thanks-
    Charlie Epes

    Hi Charlie
click the pencil icon to edit the pivot table then click the sigma symbol icon to add the grand total. You can do this for rows or columns.

  • Oracle answers pivot table grand total problem

    hi All,
I am working with OBI dashboard. I have a problem in creating a pivot table. To make it simple assume I have 3 columns: Sales, Target Sales, and %Diff. I added a total row but the problem is the total for %Diff is actually the average of the column instead of the %Diff between "total Sales" and Total "Target Sales". The aggregation rule for %Diff is set to Avg. and "Show data as" is set to Value.
I have seen the same problem here before in some forums.
Can anybody help me on this?
    Thanks
    Sana

the problem is the data is coming from Discoverer (another team converted data from disco. to OBI anwsers) so I do not have access to Biz model.
is there any other way for that?
    thanks

  • How to move excluded items into Measures in OBIEE 11g Pivot Table

    Hi All,
Need your help. Previously I have about 25 facts in my pivot table as rows. Now I need to add about 10 more. Adding new criteria only put the items into Excluded section. How can I move all these new items at once to the end of the existing facts? What I can do now is moving them one by one, and in the middle of existing facts, then move it again, because I can point my cursor to the end of them directly.
    Thanks a lot,
    Gajah.

I've tried to drag the fact heading, but I can't point my cursor to the end of existing list of facts (unfortunately they are all in the same fact group name). Do you have any suggestion on how to put the new facts at the end of the list?
    Thanks.

  • Export OBIEE 11.1.1.5 Analysis to Excel as a Pivot Table

    Hello,
I am exploring the Sample App for OBIEE 11.1.1.5 and one thing that struck me was that I didn't see an export option from an Analysis where you can Export data to Excel as an "Excel Pivot Table".
In Oracle Discoverer, for a Cross-tab report (which is equivalent to OBIEE Analysis Pivot Table), when you export to Excel, it shows up in Excel like a real Pivot Table that the user can manipulate to their hearts content.
Is there an equivalent feature in OBIEE?
    thanks,
    Manish

I did see the export to excel links, but when the Analysis Pivot Table is exported to Excel, it's not an "Excel Pivot Table". It's a simple static excel spreadsheet.
If you export a Cross-tab worksheet in Discoverer, you will get:
    – a base sheet which contains all the data in table format
    – a sheet containing the pivot table
    – a static sheet
It's the Pivot Table generated automatically by Discoverer that I am looking for in the Export from OBIEE Analysis.

  • Decimal Places in Pivot table

    Hi Gurus,
When I create a pivot table with a measure and I choose "Show Data as ...
percent of something (for example section) I get the result with 1 Decimal Place.
How to modify it for 2 or more Decimal Places?
    Thanks
    Laszlo

    Hi Laszlo!
We have found and discussed the answer already, but to more people can see it I write it.
When You have the results already, You can use the 'Advanced' page to see the XML source. There you can modify the code carefully. Change the section:
    <saw:dataFormat xsi:type="saw:percent" minDigits="2" maxDigits="2" scale="2"/>
Change maxDigits to the number of decimal digits You wanted.
Although we found the answer on the course, I found later this page - also could help:

  • Pivote Table

I have two measurement columns in my pivot table. One has values that need to roll up into an over all row total for a customer. A second column has one value that repeats but in the pivot table it totals all the rows as well but I just need the one repeating value to show once. Then have a grand total at the bottom of the table. How might I over come this obstacle? Is there a group by function like in SQL?

the following logic display the sum only once per contact.
case when rank (Opportunity."Created Date" by Contact."Contact ID") = 1 then sum(Opportunity."Opportunity Revenue" by Contact."Contact ID" ) else null end
You could create something simularly. Hopefully, this is waht you are looking for.

  • Grand totals in Pivot table in OBIEE

    Hi,
I have a pivot table in which i want both row and column level totals.
when i say summation-->after for both row and column i can see the totals but the column level totals are showing results(the row level totals are correct.)
Any idea what mistake I'm doing here?
I have one measure in my report, three fields in row and one one field in column.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    RC

Change the aggregation rule to sum for the measure column

  • Count Distinct in Pivot table totals? OBIEE 11.1.1.5

    Hi,
I have got a column that counts distinct customers per each month of the year and at the end of the analysis, it should show distinct customer count of the year as TOTAL. How can it be achieved? Is it possible to customize pivot table totals?
    Example:
    Month Customers
    Jan          10
    Feb          20 (10 new customers)
    Mar           15  (5 new customers)
TOTAL: 25 (distinct values --> 10+10+5)Thanks in advance.

    Hi MK,
I tried it already and it does not work. It takes the distinct value of each month, which is month's count distinct and then it sums. So the total is 45 (10+20+15) not 25.
    Thanks for you reply.

  • OBIEE 11g - How to create clean looking pivot tables

Hi, does anyone have a good way to clean up the appearance of pivot tables in OBIEE 11g? I'm a big fan of Stephen Few and firmly believe in the "minimize non-data ink" theory. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of stuff on OBIEE pivots that I can't easily clean up. Does anyone have ideas for:
    1. How to remove the "gray" / "beige" coloring from column and row dimension? I opened a ticket with Oracle 6 months ago, and basically they've just responded that it is a "enhancement request" for a future version (aka not going to see it for a LONG time)
    2. For my "across" dimension, I don't seem to have a good way to show the dimension name. There is an option under "column properties" to "display heading" - but when this is turned on it scrunches the heading up directly over the column that has the down dimension members. I really want this to go across the pivot.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Scott

    Hi,
    Steps,
Just create DSN (odbc connection for the excel data source) then try to import via rpd that time u must need to select "System Tables"

  • Link on a pivot table to see the data behind summary figures

    Hello,
I need your support because I am not sure if what I need to do is possible.
I have a flattened table and I have created several pivot tables and slicers based on it. Once I have created the scenario I want to analyze (using slicers), I get some summarized figures in the pivot table. What I need is a way to put a link on those figures
to allow me to see the data associated to them.
For instance, if after applying some slicer I get one figure 3, another 2 and grand total 5, I need to see the 2, 3 or 5 records behind them filtered in the existing data (not just double-click and create a new worksheet) .
Thanks in advance for your comments,
           Parseval

Hyperlinks in pivots are not supported.
There is some limited drill through functionality built into pivots, but you can't do a lot to configure how it behaves.
If it is enabled, which I believe it is by default, you show be able to double click on a aggregated total and a new sheet will pop up with the underlying records.  If your measure is a relatively simple aggregation and the underlying data is a
flat file then this should work pretty well.  The results can be unexepected if the measures are complex or there are a lot of underlying relationships in the model.
The other possibility is to use the pivots ability to collapse/expand fields. If you can put the row ID for the individual records into the rows of your pivot beneath what ever aggregated row you are currently displaying, then you should be able to expand
into the rows and see the lower levels of the "hierarchy".  By default, all rows in you pivot would be collapsed, but then a user could click the little plus sign next to the row label and expand it to see the underlying records.

  • Sub Total value is empty in  parent child hierarchy pivot table

    Hi All,
I am using obiee 11.1.1.6.2 in Test environment. Is it a known issue/bug for 11.1.1.6.2 to show empty/blank values for sub total when using parent child hierarchy pivot table. The sub total for parent value is showing but sub total for child value is coming blank. However, in 11.1.1.5.0, we do not have any issue with this.
Is it a known bug in obiee 11.1.1.6.2?
    Thanks,

Yes it is a known bug...
