Counting Space and Sum

need a help in coding, just an idea is
more than enough.

The data goes on like this.
I need to count the first 4 col char space
in order to take the fifth col,and  have to neglect the space in fifth colum
and count the total of the data which is there in the fifth column (i.e) - 1402500, 8596.00 and so on.

HI.
   If i am not wrong, your requirement is to count fifth field(i.e., sum for that field). If that is the case use SPLIT condition which i am given below.
  SPLIT <dobj> AT <sep> INTO TABLE <itab> IN <> MODE.
Where itab is an internal table of actual format (i.e., itab includes all the fields). Then do sum over fifth field of the resulted internal table u will get result.
Do you need spaces sum also?

    If Other (the yellow bar) is too big something is corrupted.  The only solution (that I know of) is to restore from your most recent backup using iTunes (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766).

    Aggregate functions to be placed at the level you require it. Here you need at G_1, so place it there.

    Hey, we can do count and sum functions in Running total.
    These functions are available in crystal reports for  summary fields.
    We can create  the running total based on the type of summary like Sum, count, max, min, distinct count, etc.
    We can do Evaluation for each record or on group or on each field  and also be done by writing a formula.
    We can  do count or sum by manual running total by writing a formula in the formula workshop.
    Based on our requirement we can use both functionalities.

    Webi 4 version
    I have a webi dcument with 4 report tabs. Summary, Expense,Revenue and Forecasting.
    I have a SUM value in Expense tab and Revenue tab. I also have Count value in Forecasing.When I copy these SUM and Count values to Summary tab, they show different values than those in other tabs.
    Please help me to resolve this

    Hi Renpal,
    Even if we write the aggregate values in to a variable and if you copy that variable in Summary tab it may not give the same result.For Example.
    If count of Sales orders in Detail tab is showing as 500 and in Summary tab it may show as 489. This is because in Detail tab there might be some cells which are "#" or Not assigned. so due to granularity it will count each and every cell, incase of summary all # or Not Assigned are calculated as 1.
    Can you check wrt the above example where exactly the data is not matching.

    We are using Webcenter 11.1.1.4 and we have integrated with Active Directory and we are also able to login to webcenter Spaces using AD users.
    Now as an Administrator We want to generate a report specifying how many times a particular user has logged-in for a specified period of time.
    We have also integrated UCM with webcenter and Our 2nd requirement is how to generate a report specifying how many documents a particular user has contributed or accessed within a specific interval of time.
    How to generate such reports. Please help.

    Wehave added Login Metrics in our Group Space and we are getting default login count for specific time frame but when we define a filter under User Property of any property like city, department name, phone title etc after refreshing data it is giving error like
    WCS#2011.03.31.12.47.31 : Irresolvable error(s) occurred. You may want to contact Administrator with the error reference.
    Please help how to solve this.

    Also post the results you want from that data, and an explanation of how you get those results from that data, with specific examples.

    You said you wanted "Help with count and sum". I see the COUNT, but what do you want with SUM? No doubt this will be clearer after you post the sample data and results.

    I have  a query like as:

             FROM tab1 FI, tab2 FA
             where fi.x1 = fa.x1
             and fi.x2 = fa.x2
             group by    a,b,c;
    tab1's table is master table for tab2's table (one tab1 records there are   many tab2 records), (one to many relation)
    My question is, how can I get to sum of columns: ip1 and ip2 from tab2 Fa, with only count(how many) of rows of tab1? 
    Somethings similar to;
    Select a,b,c, count(distinct fi.x1, fi.x2 ) nrec_of_FI,   SUM(fa.ip1)S1, SUM(fa.ip2)   S2

    Sorry, I can't tell what you want just by looking at code that does not do it.
    Whenever you have a problem, please post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) from all tables involved, so that the people who want to help you can re-create the problem and test their ideas.
    Also post the results you want from that data, and an explanation of how you get those results from that data, with specific examples.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using (for example, 11.2.0.2.0).

    Notice that the sub-query called five_column_totals is essentially what you posted, except that there fi.x1 and fi.x2 are included in the GROUP BY clause.  That means the sub-query will hve a separate row for each distinct combination of x1 and x2, which you can COUNT in the main query, GROUPing only BY a, b and c.

    First  I tried to substring

    And then I tried to sum it
    =sum(Substr([Equivalent Base];1;3))
    its giving me #Error

    If so my code did not allow for the Unit which had no number.
    you will need something like
    if(pos(([equilvant base]," ")>0;(if (IsNumber(trim(substr([equilvant base];1;pos(([equilvant base]," ")-1));sum(ToNumber(trim(substr([equilvant base];1;pos(([equilvant base]," ")-1)));0);0)
    The logic here is if there is no space then it does not contain a number, therefore use 0. If it has a space check the characters up to the space and see if they are a number. If yes convert to a number, otherwise use 0.

    so doing it through InDesign is a work around I'm exploring.
    Excel has the 'LOWER' function and the ability to record macros for a quick find/replace on the spaces - so that's definitely a good option if it can't be solved purely in InDesign.
    You can change case via scripting in InDesign. This AppleScript (OSX only) will set the case of the selected paragraph style to lower. It would be possible to add some code that would strip spaces as well:

  • Color Space and Bit Depth - What Makes Sense?

    I'm constantly confused about which color space and bit depth to choose for various things.
    Examples:
    - Does it make any sense to choose sRGB and 16-bits? (I thought sRGB was 8-bit by nature, no?)
    - Likewise for AdobeRGB - are the upper 8-bits empty if you use 16-bits?
    - What is the relationship between Nikon AdobeWide RGB, and AdobeRGB? - if a software supports one, will it support the other?
    - ProPhoto/8-bits - is there ever a reason?...
    I could go on, but I think you get the idea...

    So, it does not really make sense to use ProPhoto/8 for output (or for anything else I guess(?)), even if its supported, since it is optimized for an extended gamut, and if your output device does not encompass the gamut, then you've lost something since your bits will be spread thinner in the "most important" colors.
    Correct, you do not want to do prophotoRGB 8bit anything. It is very easy to get posterization with it. Coincidentally, if you print from Lightroom and let the driver manage and do not check 16-bit output, Lightroom outputs prophotoRGB 8bits to the driver. This is rather annoying as it is very easy to get posterizaed prints this way.
    It seems that AdobeRGB has been optimized more for "important" colors and so if you have to scrunch down into an 8-bit jpeg, then its the best choice if supported - same would hold true for an 8-bit tif I would think (?)
    Correct on both counts. If there is color management and you go 8 bits adobeRGB is a good choice. This is only really true for print targets though as adobeRGB encompasses more of a typical CMYK gamut than sRGB. For display targets such as the web you will be better off always using sRGB as 99% of displays are closer to that and so you don't gain anything. Also, 80% of web browsers is still not color managed.
    On a theoretical note: I still don't understand why if image data is 12 or 14 bits and the image format uses 16 bits, why there has to be a boundary drawn around the gamut representation. But for practical purposes, maybe it doesn't really matter.
    Do realitze hat the original image in 12 to 14 bits is in linear gamma as that is how the sensor reacts to light. However formats for display are always gamma corrected for efficiency, because the human eye reacts non-linearly to light and because typical displays have a gamma powerlaw response of brightness/darkness. Lightroom internally uses a 16-bit linear space. This is more bits than the 12 or 14 bits simply to avoid aliasing errors and other numeric errors. Similarly the working space is chosen larger than the gamut cameras can capture in order to have some overhead that allows for flexibility and avoids blowing out in intermediary stages of the processing pipeline. You have to choose something and so prophotoRGB, one of the widest RGB spaces out there is used. This is explained quite well here.
    - Is there any reason not to standardize 8-bit tif or jpg files on AdobeRGB and leave sRGB for the rare cases when legacy support is more important than color integrity?
    Actually legacy issues are rampant. Even now, color management is very spotty, even in shops oriented towards professionals. Also, arguably the largest destination for digital file output, the web, is almost not color managed. sRGB remains king unfortunately. It could be so much better if everybody used Safari or Firefox, but that clearly is not the case yet.
    - And standardize 16 bit formats on the widest gamut supported by whatever you're doing with it? - ProPhoto for editing, and maybe whatever gamut is recommended by other software or hardware vendors for special purposes...
    Yes, if you go 16 bits, there is no point not doing prophotoRGB.
    Personally, all my web photos are presented through Flash, which supports AdobeRGB even if the browser proper does not. So I don't have legacy browsers to worry about myself.
    Flash only supports non-sRGB images if you have enabled it yourself. NONE of the included flash templates in Lightroom for example enable it.

    AFAIK (I don't do windows, so I have not tested IE9 myself), IE 9 still is not color managed. The only thing it does is when it encounters a jpeg with a ICC profile different than sRGB is translate it to sRGB and send that to the monitor without using the monitor profile. That is not color management at all. It is rather useless and completely contrary to what Microsoft themselves said many years ago well behaved browsers should do. It is also contrary to all of Windows 7 included utilities for image display. Really weird! Wide gamut displays are becoming more and more prevalent and this is backwards. Even if IE9 does this halfassed color transform, you can still not standardize on adobeRGB as it will take years for IE versions to really switch over. Many people still use IE6 and only recently has my website's access switched over to mostly IE8. Don't hold your breath for this.
    Amazingly, in 2010, the only correctly color managed browser on windows is still Safari as Firefox doesn't support v4 icc monitor profiles and IE9 doesn't color manage at all except for translating between spaces to sRGB which is not very useful. Chrome can be made to color manage on windows apparently with a command line switch. On Macs the situation is better since Safari, Chrome (only correctly on 10.6) and Firefox (only with v2 ICC monitor profiles) all color manage. However, on mobile platforms, not a single browser color manages!

    Hiii,
    If you only want to store last  12 months data in Target ODS .
    Then Create filter in DTP and write routine in filter for calmonth or fiscal period.

    Hi, I wonder if there is a better or easier way to differentiate the positive numbers from negative ones and sum them respectively?
    I come up with below:
    create table t1 (num number, id varchar2(3));
    insert into t1 values  (-100, 1);
    insert into t1 values (50, 2);
    insert into t1 values  (-10, 3);
    insert into t1 values  (-20, 4);
    insert into t1 values  (50, 5);
