How can I count the occurence of a character in a string using only recursion and no variables?

How to use wild card with variable in powershell

i am trying to use wild card with variable but getting an error message, "You cannot call a method on a null-valued expression."
$src = 'C:\Temp'
$TabletzipPath = $src + "tab*.zip"
i would like to copy the tablet zip file which is placed in in $src to be copied in $TabletzipPath.
i am using tab* because this file name changes continuously. so if i give a fix name for example tablet1.zip than it works fine.Not sure if the wildcard will work without seeing how you're using the variable.
That said, I can say that it looks like you're missing the backslash between the $src path and the wildcard filename. As-is the above code assigns a value to $TabletzipPath of "C:\temptab*.zip" instead of what you are likely expecting ("C:\temp\tab*.zip")

Using Hidden Fields as Variables
I am limited in my JavaScript coding abilities. I am building a rather large homeowners insurance application that ultimately computes the premium. There are a ton of options that affect costs and I need a way to store a few numeric values. LC Designer doesn't appear to allow numeric variables (only string variables). As a work around, I have started to setup some hidden numeric fields to store some values and have their values change according to the users actions. I think this is going to work but is inefficient--the PDF ends up containing a lot of information about these hidden fields that is totally irrelevant to the task being asked of them. I thought I should ask a couple of questions before I get too far down the path I am taking.
My question #1: what are the other caveats in doing it this way?
My question #2: is there a better way or work-around that is relatively easy to do? (I am not stupid, but I am not much of a coder either). If someone could provide an example of something that can act like a numeric variable (easily accessed & changed) I would be most grateful.Paul,
I have tried without success using the form properties variables tab for entering variables. There is absolutely no documentation on the specific manner in which this is done, or whether it can accommodate arrays. I mean absolutely no documentation that I can find other than references to the LC feature like: "enter variables in the variables tab of the form properties," period. Great! but tell me more please, like specifically how?
Other than the name of the variable and a value, are there supposed to be:

syntax needed, you get my drift, I hope.
And, what about arrays? And, does it matter if these values are intended to be numeric?
I think I would prefer to use the variables tab because it centralizes their location, and in some cases I may need to change ones I might use as constants, down the road. This becomes much handier for that.

NoDim is a function of the Bex query formula , so you can't delegate that to the cube.
What object is, and what are you trying to do. For example, Sales, and trying to leave out Currency attribute.
You can do an awdful of customizing in a Business Layer or Data Foundation, that is where your solution where probably come from.

In the class which I use the database I add the member variable

I have many dialog boxes, each dialog has a form from which I get data and put them on the database and vice versa.
I create fo each dialog box a RecordSet, and I include the .h file of the record set in the dialog class in which I'm going to use it.
So now how to use this recordset and put the values from controls to database ?

Producing consecutive permutations.Need to develop a method that lists one by one all permutations of the numbers 1, 2, �, n (n is a positive integer).
(a) Recursive method . Given a verbal description of the algorithm listing all permutations one by one, you are supposed to develop a recursive method with the following header:
public static boolean nextPermutation(int[] array)The method receives an integer array parameter which is a permutation of integers 1, 2, �, n. If there is �next� permutation to the permutation represented by the array, then the method returns true and the array is changed so that it represents the �next� permutation. If there is no �next� permutation, the method returns false and does not change the array.
Here is a verbal description of the recursive algorithm you need to implement:
1. The first permutation is the permutation represented by the sequence (1, 2, �, n).
2. The last permutation is the permutation represented by the sequence (n, �, 2, 1).
3. If n a ,...,a 1 is an arbitrary permutation, then the �next� permutation is produced by
the following procedure:
(i) If the maximal element of the array (which is n) is not in the first position of the array, say i n = a , where i > 1, then just swap i a and i-1 a . This will give you the �next� permutation in this case.

Is there any way to use iPhoto without it moving my files?
I tried to use iPhoto ONCE last yer when I bought my Mac Mini, and it moved all my photo files around as it pleased, is there any way to stop it fro moving my files? I like the folder/file structure I have given my pictures and I do not need to have that managed.
At the moment I am using Picasa but I would like to know if it is possible to use iPhoto without it deciding what to do with my files.

It is a SQL database and it must control its database - like any database program
as long as you think of managing files rather than managing photos it is not the program for you - once you think of managing your photos then having the poser of a database for that will be obvious - if that is not what you want then do not use it
BTW - iPhoto does not ever "move" your files - it makes a copy of each photo in its database and manages it there - your files are never touched

How to get web application to use Tuscany without conflicting with SAP SDO

We are attempting to run a web application on SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 SP1 which uses Tuscany SDO. As it now stands We must use Tuscany because the web application will not run with the SAP SDO implementation provided by Netweaver. To ensure that Tuscany is loaded with priority, we have packaged the Tuscany JAR files and their dependencies as a heavy resource, as described here:

The final check showed that Tuscany was correctly deployed as a heavy resource and included the following JAR files:

The issue is definitely due to some kind of classloading conflict with the SAP SDO library, as the application runs normally when SAP SDO is manually removed from the classpath. Doing this on a production system is unfortunately not an option, though.
So the question is: how to get web application to use Tuscany without conflicting with SAP SDO?I took a look at the "printerReady" example. Looks like I may be able to use the InetPing (...) function to ping through a range of IP addresses looking for a response.
Any ideas on how to find the MAC address associated with the IP addresses that respond?
We may have multiple units responding and the MAC address will allow the operator to determing which unit to connect to.

You would need to logon to your webmail account using a browser and select the option to use IMAP forwarding - assuming that option is available.
Pop mail accounts can only access the server Inbox.
Emails are downloaded to your computer and stored in your Thunderbird Profile folder. So this type may not suit your requirements.
IMAP mail accounts offer a remote view of folders and emails stored on the server.
You subscribe to see those folders. Then Headers are downloaded and when you select to view an email, the email is downloaded to a temp cache.
Subscribed folders that are synchronised, download a copy of the folder and store it in your Thunderbird Profile. But these folders are constantly updated to reflect what is stored on the server.
So your best option would be to create IMAP mail account, subscribe to see folders on the server, but do not select to synchronise those subscribed folders.
Emails stored in your Thunderbird Profile on your computer load faster than those that have to be retrieved from the server each time.
Info on synchronising, so you can see how to enable/disable.

I have two iPhones, one is a 4s and the other is a 3g. I have not used my 3g in some time now. I recently restored it but I cannot use it without a sim card, it says i have to "activate it." I cannot place my iPhone 4s sim card in it (too small), and i do not want to get a new contract or sim card for an iPhone that i do not ues very much.
Thanks for your help, but i cannot borrow a noral sim card now, my family has all up graded to iPhone 4s's, i have done this before, but one of my family had the same type of iphone so i could use theirs. Now i am the only one who still holds on to their old phone... I am not sure about buying an adapter...

Modbus Ethernet read and write to a Eurotherm 6180XIO Modbus server using LV8.2 shared variables
I am having EXTREME difficulty trying to establish communications with a Modbus device using LV8.2 shared variables. The device is a Eurotherm 6180XIO Datalogger configured as a Modbus master. The PC and a cFP-1804 are slaves. All IP addresses are set correctly. This approach using shared variables would seem simple, but I can't find any examples or proper guidance on how to get it working. I am trying to avoid having to mess around with TCP/IP, OPC, or any other old-fashioned method.
I have read many threads on related topics but none directly apply to this situation. I have created a library containing a Modbus I/O server and shared variables bound to read and write holding registers. I have followed all recommended tips for creating such variables but I can neither read or write data. All data types are U16 due to Modbus protocol limitations. I have also applied the LV x10 factor in the most significant digit in the register offset (6 digits instead of 5).
I have a cFP-1804 on the same network which reads into the datalogger OK. The registers I use are 31000 (for CH0 on module 0, 31002 for CH1, etc) and the data can be read as FLOAT32. I have updated the firmwate on the 1804 to the latest level. I cannot even get shared variables to read SGL values. Using registers 301001 for CH0 and 301002 for CH1 I can only read U16 values, and not a 2-word SGL.
Third party Modbus simulation software is able to write to and read from registers very easily, but not LabVIEW.
Some questions are:
- do I use a Modbus master or slave as an I/O server in the library as a target for binding the shared variables?
- is there some other wierd translation in register offsets between LabVIEW and traditional Modbus?
- is this actually possible using shared variables or am I wasting my time?Sending the whole 60-character string using a string or array would be the most efficient. I have tried both methods, and these only cause the datalogger to flag a message log but no text is displayed.
For a string variable, I have used the following binding "My Computer\Modbus Test.lvlib\ModbusServer6180\442305", where ModbusServer6180 is a Modbus I/O server configured with the logger IP address, and 42304 is the register offset at the start of the text block in the logger. I need to write to 30 consecutive registers starting with this one. I am not using buffering and have not enabled single writer.
Can anyone confirm whether this method should work in 8.2?
Does the string need a special termination character?
