CR Report Database Credentials

I've noticed that everytime I upload a new report or overwrite the existing report on BOE with a newer version of the report, I will always have to retype in the password in CMS... specifically Process tab -> Database section.
Is there any way to set a setting in BOE and/or CR XI where the database credentials are saved along with the report?  The username is always there, but never the password.
Thanks.

Hi Eric, if you use the publishing wizard to upload your reports instead of CR then you can set the DB information per report or for a whole batch of reports while uploading them to enterprise.

  • Database Credentials When Scheduling Crystal Report

In our Crystal Reports 2008 server, each user has their database credentials populated in their user account on the Crystal Reports Server.
(in the area where is says "Enable Database Credentials").
For each of our reports, we have the option "Use SSO context for database logon" selected.
This causes the server to connect to the database using each user's database credentials when they run reports "on-demand".
However, these credentials do not automatically populate when they go to schedule a report.
Is there a way to get these credentials to populate the Database Login fields when scheduling reports to run?
It seems odd to me that it would use the credentials "on-demand", but not when setting up a scheduled report.
    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Brian.
What you describe is what we currently have setup.
The difference with what I'm asking is that each user's account has different database login credentials.
So when running "on-demand", it logs in using the credentials in their account settings.
But when running "scheduled" everyone logs into the database using the default account.
We have row-level security on the database (using Oracle VPD) to enforce security based on the user account that is logged into the database.
This means that when running the report scheduled, the security doesn't work because it doesn't populate the database credentials from the user's account.

  • ProjectUID selected from the reporting database from Project Server OnPublished event is taking some delay

    Hi all,
I'm invoking a stored procedure from the reporting database from the project server onPublished event.  I'm having some issues in getting the details of that particular project from the published event handler.  This i noticed that there is some
delay is taking place in moving the data(project uid )  from the published to the reporting database .
My stored procedure select statement is as follows:
    SELECT ProjectUID, ProjectName FROM MSP_EpmProject_UserView
     WHERE ProjectUID=value
This stored procedure is invoked from the onPublished event of the project server event handler where that particular projectuid is passed in that stored procedure.I have noticed that some delay is taking palce to move  the data into the reporting database.
My stored procedure got invoked from the onPublished event of the project server event handler before the delay is complete.  So the row selected from the stored procedure is alwys zero (0).  Is there any other method to wait for repoting database
to get refreshed. Please help me .

    Hi sabithad,
The issue you are facing is because of the conflict of permissions, event handlers always works through administrative user credentials whereas the project is open in edit mode by the logged-in user. And you are tyring to update custom field at the back
end with Administrative credentials, while project queue is in process by logged-in users credentials. Its not gonna work this way :)
The best option is to use Javascript on your PDP using CEWP, you can either build your complete logic in JavaScript and place that code on your PDP. OR you can use the combination of JavaScript and PSI and create a webpart to be placed on PDP.
below blog link willgive you directions to go ahead with, but for sure the solution to your query is
    JavaScript :)

  • Disable prompting Database credentials

    All,
We are trying to upload the Crystal reports to BO XI R3 server using Infoview. The reports prompts for database credentials. We have feature on CMC to set "Use same credentails for reports", But how can we acheive this from Crystal report/Infoview. We donot have access to CMC.
    Thanks in advance.
    Venkat

    Two thoughts for you:
    1) Try creating a crystal report off a universe - I believe this will not prompt you to login.
    2) Have your Enterprise administrators delegate rights to the CMC for a subset of your users to allow them to save a password with the reports.
    Good luck!

  • P6 user name is not valid for connecting to the reporting database

No data is available because your P6 user name is not valid for connecting to the reporting database
I am getting above error in the following environment:
P6 running on wls instance 1.
BI Publisger running on wls instance 2
    MS SQL server 2005
Note that the error appears when I clink on the 'Reports' tab in P6. My admin user on P6 has access to report/analyser modules.
To connect P6 to BI Publisher I am using 'PxRptUser' in the P6 configuration for Bi Publisher. I know as well that the WSDL URL is correct and I can test this in SoapUI tool.
In BI publisher I have created the PMDB data source using PxRprUser, and the test of this connection works.
(Because the report samples come with Oracle flavoured SQL that SQL server does not like, I have configured BI Publisher so I have just a single report left that sources it data from an xml file. This works in BI Publisher. It also helps me in that I do not need to add 'WHERE' clauses and parameters required for SQL server?)
Furthermore, using a DB tool, I can connect to my SQL server using PxRPTUser.
So why do I get the error above?
I picked up somewhere that I should not be adding users to BI Publisher. Funny enough, testing the 'login' method the BI Publisher exposes through its WSDL (as above) I noticed I HAD to create the user PxRptUser in BI publisher application itself (on top of PxRptUser in database) for the login web service to work with PxRptUser
That did not solve the connection between P6 and BI Publisher though. What am I missing ...
    Edited by: user3674522 on 10/11/2011 20:16

Thought I found something but can't repliacte, som issue is still there:
Had a look at the wls instance logs where BI publisher is running, and the error I get is:
    111111_023646955][][ERROR] javax.naming.NamingException: Unresolved naming: cn=admin, dc=user, dc=users, dc=principals at [cn=admin]
That user, admin, is the one I have used to access P6. Why is this passed on to BI Publisher? I thought the idea was that the PxRptUser set in BI Publisher configurations in P6 would be used?

  • Error installing P6 Reporting Database 3.0

I am a relative noob when it comes to Oracle applications. And my customer has allowed their Oracle support contract to expire, which makes things so very easy....
I currently have EPPM 8.2 w/Weblogic and OBIEE installed and functional...11.1.1.5....on 2008 R2, with a Solaris backend. I am attempting to install and configure the P6 Reporting Database 3.0. I'm running into errors when running the staretl.bat process for the first time- I believe what is happening is it is trying to pull data into the Star database. It generates the following error:
    *+<12.19.2012 16:50:04> staretl [INFO] (Progress) - Finished Script W_PROJECT_SECURITY_SS.sql+*

I can view those scripts that are referenced, but they don't mean much to me. The info I've posted is from the log files, so you can see how useless it is....when I spool and run one of them individually, to see what the exact errors are, here is what I get:
    SQL> @ W_PROJECT_DS.sql*

    ORA-06512: at "STARUSER.EXTRACT2STAGING", line 109*
    ORA-06512: at line 2*
I don't pretend to know what the error means, or how I might correct it. Anyone have an idea of where I should start looking?

I have the same issue, but instead of "Location_ID" it claims that the problem is with "LASTUPDATEDATEX" (ORA-00904: invalid identifier). Oracle DB version is 11g, all of the instances (EPPM, ODS, STAR) are hosted on the same server, but are separate instances.
How does the Multimedia component influence this bug?
BTW: Reporting DB version is 3.1 - staretl process has 48 instead of 28 in 3.0 steps.

  • Project Server 2013 reporting database change in Schema from Project Server 2010

I have a current Project Server 2010 implementation, I am planning to migrate to Project Online.
We have Customized Reports that consume from the PS 2010 Reporting DB.
Are there differences in the Reporting DB schema  between PS 2010 and Project Online?
My Question is: if we migrated to Project Online, will the reports crash?
Another question is that, is PS 2013 Reporting DB schema the same as Project Online?

    Hi Atia,
IN project server 2013 we have only one database instead of 4, it means draft, archive, published and reporting with in one database.Project Server 2013 reporting database schema tool that can be downloaded.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project_programmability/archive/2013/01/28/project-server-2013-reporting-database-rdb-schema-reference.aspx
There are differences in reporting of on-premises vs. Project Online
The Project Server 2013 reporting schema includes three new tables, 27 new views, and a total of 33 tables and views that include new fields.
Answer-1 : Yes there are some differences between PS 2010 and project Online.
Answer-2 : Reports will crash as In Project Online you have to use ODATA to create report. You can not query project online data for reporting directly you have to have use ODATA.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj163015.aspx
Answer-3 : NO, PS 2013 Schema and Project online Schema is different.

  • HOW-TO specify database credentials in LDAP user

    Hi:
I want to know how can i specify oracle database credentials (oracle database usernname) that one specific user will use to connect to the database for instance when using Oracle Forms.
I saw in OID some "tags" like orcluserv1, etc... is this ? how can i do it ?
    For instance i want that:
    LDAP user Database user
    user00001 dbuserA
    user00002 dbuserA
    user00003 dbuserA
    user00004 dbuserB
    user00005 dbuserB
So ldap user00001 will connect to the database with dbuserA ..
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo

    Hi Ashish:
I've succesfully created an user with OIDDAS and assign it a "resource acess information" of type OracleDB.
So, when creating this user i specified the username in db that this user will use to access database. Until now, it's all perfect. But, where's this information is stored ?
I've access OID Manager and see that user is create in the Entry Management, but the DB information is not stored in any of the properties of this user.
This is a problem, because I want to make an APP that will use DBMS_LDAP pack to create user dynamically, so I have to know what attributes/classes/properties that user needs for assign it to a specific DB user.
    Can you help ?
Thanks The information is stored in an Oracle Specific container called 'cn=oracleContext' in the default subscriber.
You can use the DBMS_LDAP_UTL package (shipped in iAS 902) to query these Resource Access Descriptors. Directly
storing these from PL/SQL is not presently supported. OIDDAS is the only interface through which you can get this done.

  • Change report database

    I guys:
i have a problem when I am trying to change the report database.
the report is currently using a oracle sql to fetch data into the report. when i try to move it to another database (test envirment) tables' schema name is changed so i basicly want to use another query on the new DB, i use the "database|set datasource location" window put new query in.
but CR dont let me to. it shows error: "failed to retrive data from database. "
    anyone can help me?
    thanks
    Howard

You can't if the database tables/fields are not exactly the same as the original report.
Create a new report and if you want the same feature/functions as the original report then copy paste to the new report.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Task Total Slack Calculated values mismatching with the values in reporting database

    Hi,
We require 'Task Total Slack' as one of the items in a report for Project Server 2010. We're developing the reports using SSRS wherein the SQL Queries are fired on the reporting database of Project Server 2010.
We've come across a situation wherein the total slack values from reporting database for tasks are mismatching with the values that are seen in either PWA or Project Professional for total slack field. We also could not find a consistent factor by which
the slack is multiplied for reflecting in the database in case the Slack in days was being converted into Hours in reporting databse.
Is there a definite way that these values are being represented in reporting database which is quite different from the way these values are seen in Project Professional? Please help resolving this issue.

    Hi Abhijit PS,
Can you give an example of the mismatch? Also you could tell us if this is happening for all tasks and all projects. Your concern may be seen from 2 different points of view:
Either this is indeed a bug with a slack of 2 days for example in Project Pro and 4 days in your report from the reporting DB. In this case, you should check if the projects have been published correctly and if the Reporting DB is correctly sync'ed with
    the draft DB.
Or it could be the normal behavior and it is just a matter of finding why. For example, the durations are stored in the DB in minutes, meaning that a 1day duration might be stored as 480 if you have 8 working hours in a day (8*60).
    Hope this helps,

  • How to set database credentials to form?

    Hi All,
I'm newbie em Forms. I'm facing a situation and I don't know how to solve it. I run a forms application in a giver browser and I'm always asked to type database credentials in order to connect to this database. In development time there's no problem, however, general users cannot have database user and password to be able to access the form.
Is there any way to set database credentials (user, password, database) in order to user not being asked to provide these info ?
    thanks a lot

    Hi,
Plz configure formsweb.cfg file in order to achieve this. Set the parameter 'userid=<YourDatabaseCredential>'.
    e.g. userid=scott/tiger@orcl
    thanks & best regards,

  • Move SSRS engine to new server, but keep same reporting databases

We have our SQL Server reporting services (2008 R2) setup as follows:
ServerA: contains the reporting services engine (including the report manager URL, web service URL and so on).
ServerB: Is the sql server instance that hosts the reporting databases for ServerA (ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB).
ServerA is EOL and will be replaced by ServerC. I have two questions:
    1. How do we proceed to install Reporting Services on ServerC so that it points to the databases on ServerB.
    2. How do we migrate the reports (and settings) from ServerA to ServerC.  Will this be automatic by pointing ServerC to the exiting databases on ServerB.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
All reports / Settings are stored in ReportServer database, so if you Keep your database you have nothing to migrate.
Install SSRS without configuration on the new machine and afterwards do the configurtaion with Point the "ReportServer" database to ServerB.

  • Changing database credentials of action block SQL Query

    Hi,
I have created a SQL Query with command mode for inserting data in database. But I would like to change the database credentials of this SQL Query dynamically. How can I do this? I have seen one property of this action block as Connector. What is format of the value it expects. Can any one help me on this?
    Thanks
    Shaji

Can you please specify exactly what you're trying to do?
You mention credentials in your subject line and earlier post, which to me would indicate that you might want your query activity to be done on behalf of the logged in user?  This was an option in 11.5 (no idea how often it was used, or what 12.0/12.1 do since the documentation is void of the setting) http://help.sap.com/saphelp_xmii115/helpdata/en/Connectors/IDBCConnector.htm#Capabilities
You would have to formulate an /XMII/Illuminator?QueryTemplate=xxx/yyyy type query to include these properties, since they are not applet or template parameters they won't show up in the link editor.
The User / Pwd properties you see are not for this - they are leftovers from older versions for authenticating applets.

  • Changing passwords using APEX and Database Credentials

We are developing an application that uses database credentials. We can login very easily. Is there a simple way to create a page so that the users can change their own passwords? I understand that the users will in effect be issuing an ALTER USER statement from within APEX. However, we get an "Insufficient Privileges" error message when issuing the command from APEX. So, whose credentials is APEX using?

    J,
So, whose credentials is APEX using?
There are no credentials involved here. All code in your PL/SQL application is parsed as the schema that owns the application. When you implement your PL/SQL application using Application Express, that schema is the "Owner" attribute, or parsing schema.
