Crackling noise while record

I just got a new X-Fi sound card and when I try to record with it I get a crackling noise while recording BUT plays great, when its recording I get the nose and as soon I stop the recording the crackling noise stops, I did have a sound blaster li've 5. and I never had this prob with it's? dose anyone have a clue to what would cause this?
Now I did just do a major computer up grade:
AMD 64 3500 2.2 Ghz
ATI 52MB video
Gig of ram
300 Gig HD
ECS K8T890-A Mother board
Soundblaster X-FI Xtreme

I just found out, that the crackles only occur when I record something using the windows audio driver while/after an application is/was opened that uses the ASIO driver. The crackles do not occur if I record something inside the ASIO application.
I hope you understand what I mean.

  • Digital Noise While Recording

Hello - Any suggestions on how to solve the digital crackle/noise I'm getting while recording (single instruments and multi) into Garage Band 2? I'm using the Presonus Firepod on my Powerbook and recording onto a LaCie Firewire drive (should be fast enough), and it only seems to be happening on the mic channels, not on the line input channels. I can't seem to find any settings that would allow me to make a bigger buffer or something... looked around Audio-Midi Setup too...
All gear being used is high quality, i.e. it's unlikely to be the mics or cables (as far as I can tell).
    Please help, thanks!

Figured it out! It turned out to be something to do with monitoring and where the input/cue knob on the firepod was set. Back in business...
    Thanks!

  • Audigy 2 ZS making bad "crackling" noises while playi

    Hi all.. I need help!!
I RMA'd my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS about 3 months ago and got it back, and it was fine for a while, but now its making severe crackling noises from all speakers whenever I play the game.. I've tried the speakers elsewhere and they are fine, and I've switched PCI slots several times, they still are crackling like crazy.. Totally ruins gameplay so I had to switch back to onboard sound.. Does this sound like I need to RMA it again, or is it possible I've overlooked something? It was fine previously.. My computer specs are:
    AMD64 3500+ Socket 939
    ABIT AV8 Motherboard
024 OCZ Platinum Dual Channel 2-2-2-
    Twin 0K RPM SATA Raptors
    BFG 6800GT OC Video Card
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
    Plextor PX-76A

I need help ASAP! Thanks in advance!!!!Message Edited by duckdown on 07-20-2005 03:20 AM

Not all of them, some suggestions just involve changing settings or changes in the BIOS. The settings may be named slightly differently on the various boards and BIOS versions/types.
If it worked fine on that system but has suddently developed this problem then it's possible there is a hardware problem. If you made any changes at all, it might be good to undo them, or go back to a restore point to see if that helps (and see if it's a software change/setting that affected this).
Otherwise I'd recommend contacting Customer Support so they can go over this with you in detail, one on one, to see what could be causing this.

  • Computer noise while recording

    Hello,
I was wondering if there was a simple way to reduce the noise that's generated by the computer's fan while recording with the internal mic.

I guess maybe another question would be then what is making the noise? Is it the fan? or the hard drive? I know that I 've recorded before with no real hassels due to internal computer sounds. So what are some things that I can do so that my computer doesn't make these sounds while recording with the internal mic?
I appreciate the advice concerning aquiring an USB mic however I am primarily using the internal mic in situations where I don't want to have to "set up" a mic. Call it laziness, or just the fact that I don't want to have to carry around extra gear that I don't necessarily should have to carry around considering there is a mic attached to this here machine. Simply put, I'm not recording major projects with this mic. It's more so for spur of the moment ideas or jams. And so it's simply an issue of aesthtics for when I playback recordings that have been tainted with a constant sound of computer whirl. I'm siting here listening and am thinking "man this isn't such a bad sounding recording, except for that frackin' computer buzz. Dammit!" You know how it is.

  • Crackling noise when recording

I am using an IMAC and the Steinberg CI2 interface to record and I am getting a crackling sound when recording. Does anyone know what this might be?
    Thanks

i have a similar problem with a yamaha mw12cx usb mixer and a macbook pro. i set the audio preferences to the specifications in the owners manual 44.1 khz on the input and 48 khz on the output and the crackling noise immediately went away. this worked for about 15 minutes of recording a narration but when the crackling started again, i couldn't set the output at 48 khz, it would change right back to 44.1khz. am i going to have to break the recordings up into 10 minute pieces?

  • Crackling noise while viewing Sky TV in bedroom using RF cable

Hi, We currently have a sky box in the livingroom. As we seem to have a really bad signal in our bedroom we cannot use freeview in there. We also cannot get Sky multiroom as we live in a flat. We now stream Sky from the livingroom to the bedroom TV using a RF cable from Sky box to output in livingroom and RF cable from output in bedroom into that TV. This generally works well and the picture is ok however we get a loud crackling noise every so often that we cant seem to stop, lately this noise has gotten more frequent and louder. Can anyone advise why this is happening and how to fix it?  Thanks.

Hopefully that will make it easier to fix!
Try changing the RF Output Channel your Sky box is using. By default it's set to channel 68. Try a channel at the other end of the range - say 25.
To do this. key Services,0,0,1,Select on your remote to get to the Installer Menu. Don't pause between key presses, don't wait for the screen to change and don't forget the Select at the end! At the Installer Menu, you'll see the RF Output tab where you'll find the Output Channel setting. Change to 25 and press Green to save the change.
Onceyou've done this, you'll need to re-scan for channels on your bedroom tv, using its setup menu.
You may need to try several RF Output Channels before you find one that works reliably.

  • Logic 9 busting into white noise while recording!!

Well the title says almost all of it! I've been using Logic 8 happily for ...since it came out.....and I used Logic 9 successfully yesterday when just doing vocals over a backing track but today I tried my first full band recording in Logic 9 and at random places while in record, the audio just totally turns into deafening white noise! The Hard drive meter is showing massive peaks and logic shows a "too slow" error. The songs has a few virtual amplifiers in it (amplitube) but nothing lethal and I've loaded the exact same song (saved from logic 9) into logic 8 and it's working flawlessly so for now at least I'm reverting to using Logic 8 :-(((
Oh well, I guess Logic 9 will be awesome when it's finished :-)) Any suggestions of things I can try or will this be a 9.01 situation?
    Many Thanks for any help,

    Hi Ya,
    Combo update , yes
    ProKit 5, yes,
    Restart, yes,
    Repair permissions, I'll try that
and as for using it professionally...that's the only way I do use it!!
Someone has to find the bugs for Apple to fix them.
As for contacting our host, not exactly. I've been a happy logic user (and basically still am I should add) since Notator days but now that the tech support phone numbers have been long since discarded (Sound technology in the UK, bless them) I have no idea how to report a bug or a problem to Apple. I can get someone in Ireland to tell me where to take a broken mac back to, but support for pro software, I have no idea who to get hold of.Does anyone here know of a Tech support contact email?

  • Crackling noises in recording with E-MU 0202 interface

    All,
    I have:
An iMac Retina (3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB, 1TB Fusion Drive) with Mac OS 10.10.1
    Logic Pro 10.0.1
An audio interface Creative E-MU 0202 (USB 2.0) connected directly to my iMac. I don't installed the creative driver for Mac OS, but pluged directly my audio interface, and Logic Pro see the interface.
After a recording from audio track on Logic Pro with an acoustic guitare or a microphone for the voice plugged directly to the audio interface, when I'm listning the recording, I have some crakling noises.
I am in 44,1 Khz and 24 bits.
I changed 3 parameters on Logic Pro, but I have the same issue:
    - IO buffer size: 1024
    - Processing: 4
    - Buffer size porcessing: big
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Jean-Baptiste

The problem may well be that the Creative E-MU 0202 is already described as "End of Service Life" by Creative (meaning it's old and they don't care about providing support for it any longer!) so no further support/drivers for newer OS X versions are available...which is often required especially when it comes down to older USB2 devices that have issues connected to USB3 ports on newer Macs...
    However....
You might want to try using a Powered USB2 hub.. Connect the 0202 to that and then connect the hub to your USB3 port and see if that resolvs the matter....
Note: Don't connect anything else to the hub initially at least.. and test....
For many older USB2 Audio devices this fixes such issues... but its not a certainty by any means...

  • How to reduce background noise while recording in iphone?

I am actually recording voice in iphone. How can i ignore the background noises other than the person who is speaking...

There is no filter in FCE that can eliminate background noise separately from the sound you want to preserve.
    SoundSoap can do this.

  • How to deal with bass hum/noise while recording

I recently got a bass guitar (fender p-bass) and its a little noisy. There is an electronic hum/buzz when my fingers are not touching the strings. I had my guitar tech look at it and he said the noise is normal. However, I plan on using this bass to record direct and when I plug into Logic this buzz/hum is audible. If I turn the tone knob on the bass down completely, the noise goes away. But when I start to turn the tone knob up at all the noise get louder.
My question is if this is a common problem with instruments (bass, guitar, etc) and is it normal to use a plug-in to eradicate this noise (like a noise gate, or something else)? Also, does anyone else have any ideas on how to work with this buzz/hum? Thanks.

    Hi JackQ,
I had some experience a few years back with one of these basses, same model.Basically, the hum you are hearing is a grounding problem.Your tech does not know how to fix it,that's why he said it's "normal".It's not normal.
You cannot get rid of that noise unless you do two things. One:get a reputable tech that is an expert on electric instruments, and ask him to solve the ground hum problem. It is not expensive to do so.
Second, you can do a "home repair" kind of fix, like this:Take a RadioShack alligator clip wire (the ones that look like little alligator mouths, that clamp onto anything)and hook up one end to the bridge of your bass, and hook up the other end to your body, preferably where you have a high pain threshold. This second option, will work, but I only recommend it when you are going to record, otherwise if you leave the alligator clamp on you for a long time,it will leave a permanent mark(just kidding). This also is the cheapest and most efficient way of dealing with the hum problem.Plugins like a gate or other are not going to make it go away, and you'll spend wayyyyyy tooooo much time trying to get it(the plugin) to work.

  • Tecra A9 - Background noises while recording a sound file

Does anybody knows how to get a clear sound recording on a Toshiba Tecra A9? All my voice recordings are of a low quality.
Compare the sound recording of my Tecra:

with a sound recording which I made on other notebook:

I need a clear sound for my speech recognition software.
    Looking forward for your help

    Hello Andrej
Sorry that I have forgotten to mention the conditions my tests.
I did the sound recording on both computers with the same external microphone (a logitech headset) and in the same room.
I thought that the internal micro would be disabled in the moment an external micro is being used - unless I'm mistaken.
    Regards

  • Noise while using Miroslav Philharmonik

    Hi There
Anyone know why i might be experiencing crackling noise while using miroslav? it is somewhat improved by freezing tracks, but this is obviously not a longterm solution.....
    thanks
    Grabbin'

    Hi Bill
I received this excellent reply from IK:
My name is Paul Hudson, I am the Support Manager with IK Multimedia. I was sent over your ticket for testing and I believe I see what the troubles is. You mention that you are only using 1 sound per instance of Miroslav and in that session you sent us, thanks by the way!, I was able to see that for certain. Using multiple instances in this way is more taxing on the CPU, as you are loading multiple reverbs inside of Miroslav, as each instance defaults with the CSR Hall reverb on in the Send FX.
To setup Miroslav using just the one instance and then multiple sounds inside it, all you need to do is create a new session and go to inset a New track. Select the Software Instrument track and then check the box next to the quantity of tracks, that says 'multi-timbral'. With this checked, create the track and click on the Input of that track and insert Miroslav. Now upon creation of the track, you will see 17 total tracks. This is the main instance of Miroslav and 16 MIDI channels. As you click down on each track, you will notice in the Inspector window that the MIDI channel changes. So within Miroslav now, click on the first Part (which is the 1st MIDI channel) and insert your sound. Now click down to Part 2 (which is MIDI Channel 2) and insert your new sound. Click down to the 2nd MIDI track in Logic, and hit your keys. You should hear the second sound. Click back to the first track, you should hear the first sound!
In this setup, please run the sounds through Miroslav and everything should sound lovely!
