  • 3D PDF files in portfolio prints to Adobe PDF printer without content

3D PDF files in portfolio prints to Adobe PDF printer without content, but if printed from single 3D PDF file everything is fine. I need batch printing (this is the reason I use portfolio) of large amount of 3DPDF files because of the need to have proper preview of these files in browsers. Any ideas or workarounds how to have preview pdf's or jpg's of the single paged 3D PDF files, keeping relevant file names?

I suspected as much.  I was hopeful it was something like a setting that needed to be changed or a reg hack that needed a bit changed from 0 to 1 to make the printing work as expected.  I only installed the local printer to see if the RDP session
tunnel was in fact causing the print size to balloon so I will continue to instruct users to use that instead of the local redirected printer.  I am disappointed but not surprised.
    Edit:
Additionally I have tested the functionality of setting the GPO settings for Easy Print to use the redirected printer's drivers instead of the ones used by easy print, by setting “Computer
Configuration -> Administrative templates -Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host -> Printer Redirection”.
    to “Disabled” but
with no luck.  In fact the printer received the proper Adobe PDF driver, but the job went out into print spool hell and was lost to the ether.  I have concluded that this approach will not bear any fruit.

  • PDF Size jumps when printing to Adobe PDF printer redirected vs. locally installed

I have a Server 2008 R2 setup to run Sage Peachtree as a RemoteApp.  RemoteApp is configured to pass local drives and printers through to the server for end user ease.  When you print an invoice (or any file from Peachtree) to the Adobe Acrobat
X "Adobe PDF" printer that has been redirected, a single page pdf will save at about 1.1mb.  If I print the exact same invoice to a local install of Adobe Acrobat X "Adobe PDF" printer on the Server 2008 R2 install, it will save to
about 8kb (which is the expected size for a single page pdf of lines and txt).
If you then try and print the 1.1mb pdf file to a normal HP printer PS (postscript) driver, it will expand in the print spooler several magnitudes to about 10-15mb, giving the impression that it sees the pdf data as an image instead of txt.
My guess is that the data being sent over the remote desktop connection to the redirected "Adobe PDF" printer is coming out of the pipe in a form that Adobe can only interpret as a graphic and thus compresses it as though it was one.
Anyone have any ideas on how to the local printer and the redirected printers to receive the same type of data and thus create pdf files of similiar size?

  • How to make firefox open a URL in a PDF document which is loaded using Adobe PDF viewer in firefox to always in a new browser window ?

    Hi
I have a web application which would enable users to see a list of PDF document on the web page and when the user select the PDF document, it will be open by a adobe PDF viewer.
Within the content of the PDF document, it will contact URL links to some other portal web pages which we would like these other web pages to be open in a new browser window, but our testing shows that the new web pages may not always open in a new browser window.
Could you help to advise how I can enforce that new web pages that are clicked from the PDF document can always be open in a new firefox browser window ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Sen Lee

    Hello,
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Exception thrown while processing pdf file with composite fonts using adobe pdf library (v 9.1 )

    Hi All,
I have an issue with processing composite fonts with adobe pdf library (v 9.1 ).
While processing a pdf file having composite fonts, the pdf library is throwing an exception.
The api which throwed exception is "PDPageAcquirePDEContent()". In my code i am calling PDDocGetNumPages(), PDDocAcquirePage() before this api is called, but all those functions suceeded. In the HANDLER, using the ASGetErrorString(), i got this exception error as  "The encoding (CMap) specified by a font is missing."
Now coming to the input file (which is also attached), this document have three different composite fonts ( details are given below )
    Font Name : TicketBold, Bold(Embedded)
    Font Type : Trueype (CID)
    Encoding : Identity-H
    Font Name : Times-Roman (Embedded)
Font Type : Type 1 (CID)
    Encoding : Identity-H
    Font Name : TimesNewRomanPSMT (embedded)
    Font Type : TrueType(CID)
    Encoding: Identity-H
If i convert all the composite fonts to outline using pitstop before processing, it works fine.
So my question is that whether pdf library doesnt support composite fonts (which i dont think so ) or i need to do a special handling for these kinds of fonts in my application ( which i strongly belive ). If its the latter case, please let me know how to handle it in my application.
    thanks in advance

    Hi Leonard,
Thanks for your reply. May i ask you which sample of the PDF Library you used to test my scenario.
One question i would like to put to you beofre going for filing a formal issue to Adobe will be does this issue has anything to do with the initialization of the pdf library?
What i meant is that when we call the PDFLInit() we pass a PDFLDataRec structure which is initialized by various path to font folders, cmap folders and unicode folders. Whether if i miss any of these folders will it cause this issue???
    thanks again

  • Concurrent installation of PDF IFilter 9 for indexing and Adobe PDF Reader 9.5.2

There is PDF IFilter 9, which is configured on SharePoint2010. I have seen that the installation of additional AdoveReader  (in our case Adobe PDF Reader 9.5.2) on the same server can destroy IFilter installation. Is it somebody who has experience with that?

  • Converting pdf to excel in Trial Version Adobe XI

I am a newbie, so please no hecklers...
I downloaded the Trial version of Adobe XI, and the download was successful.  It did not ask me to register or subscribe to anything else.  I opened the pdf file, clicked on Tools and tried to convert to excel.  It says "Paid Account" and "Sign Up Now".  If I try to save the file as another file type, my only option is pdf.  I need to see if this will achieve what I need before paying for it.  Have I missed a step in installing the Trial version?

It sounds like you're using Reader, not Acrobat.

  • Can I read a single PDF file on iBooks, Kindle and Adobe PDF?

    Hi there,
Is it possible to read a PDF file on iBooks and also read that same file on Kindle and Adobe Reader on the iPad?
I can't seem to do that and it seems silly to have 3 copies of the same file, in the same format, to be able to read on these 3 apps!
Should there be a book library such that when I open any of those apps, it goes to that library and displays the books and files that it can actually open!
It seems logical for this to be the case but somehow... ???
    Maz

A pdf located in iBooks cannot be read by the other two apps, and vice versa.
Why not just use the one app for all your pdfs?
As with any library, a library can only display what is available on its own bookshelf.
    It seems illogical to me....

  • Problem with "Save as Adobe PDF format" in Excel and Word

    Hi
When I use printing zone in Excel and make a «Save as Adobe PDF format» (menu File / Save as Adobe PDF), the first save is well done. But when I make it a second time, what's not in the printing zone is printing in the document.
I have also problem with the «Save as Adobe PDF format» in Word. The images superposition are not well print.
I'm using Windows 7 in french, Office 2010 french and Adobe Acrobat XI standard. All is in the latest version.
    Thanks

The Save As PDF feature in Office2008 Call up a PDF  Creator similar to the AdobePDF Print Driver. whch OX.6 can't use.
To create Pdf you have to use method used:
    http://indesignsecrets.com/acrobats-adobe-pdf-printer-replaced-in-snow-leopard.php
Not before you attempt to use this method if  Rossetta is not installed. pop in your Systems DVD and install Rosetta. Then follow directions to install the Adobe Quality PDF Automator Script which will show up in the Print Menu. Click on Print > then click PDF. Then Click on Adobe quality PDF.  AS for setting up Job options and other details Supposedly your suppose to  have access. But I have no idea.
First thing Rosetta should be installed out of the box. and Second Adobe should install this Script from their installer. So their should be no intervention from the user. it should just work. Early report when OSX.6 first came out almost no one was able to get this to work. and I see periodic reports that people still can't get it tork and they have to to resort to saving as .ps files then droping on distiller.
    Good luck.

  • Converting excel /word 2007 documents to pdf issue

    Hello,
I am currently using Windows XP Pro SP3 and Office 2007, Adobe 8 Standard version 8.2.2 and Adobe Distiller8.2.2.217.  Sometimes when I try to convert Word or Excel 2007 documents to adobe PDF, it creates just a blank pdf file.  After a reboot, I was able to convert documents to pdf and again creates blank file.  From Word, if I click 'Acrobat' menu and click 'Create PDF' and in the  'Save As' dialog box when "Quick and Simple" is selected instead of 'Fully functional", pdf documents are created (not blank ones).  Unfortunately,  "Quick and Simple" option is not even available in Excel....So, at least twice a day I need to restart PC to convert documents....
Any suggestions / comments greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

No, you'll have to re-create them using JavaScript.

  • Cannot print pdf from Excel. Saving as log file

I am trying to print an Excel page to pdf and everytime I get an error.
I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 and Excel 2010

You printed to Adobe PDF from excel.
There was an error which prevented the pdf from being created.
That log file lists the errors and seeing it's content might enable us to determine why the job failed.
Open the log file with Notepad or any text editor (Word)
Copy that text to this forum

  • Documents fail to print to Adobe PDF printer device (but still print!)

    Acrobat Pro X, Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
Strange thing. When I am printing a document (any document e.g. from Word, from Excel, from a page of the internet, etc) if I elect to "print" (i.e. virtually print it) to the Adobe PDF virtual printer which installed when I installed Acrobat X, the following happens:
    - The process appears to run normally
    - All the correct Adobe Acrobat dialogue boxes appear as normal (e.g. my options to select security settings, save-to location, etc)
    - The PDF is correctly produced and saved in the location I specify
    ...BUT...
    - The virtual "printer" reports printing errors and keeps the document in the virtual "queue" (sorry if I am using all the wrong terms here).
So, as I write I have just asked to print this page to the Adobe PDF virtual printer. The "Creating Adobe PDF" box all came up as normal and sure enough the document was created. This DESPITE the fact that the previous SIX documents I printed the same way all produced errors and are all still sitting in the virtual printer queue.
This isn't a disaster as it would appear the print queue does not really queue... the fact that there are now seven documents in the Adobe PDF print queue doesn't matter than much since, if I print an eighth, it will print normally - there will then be eight "failed" documents in the print queue. Periodically I just go in and delete them all.
However since this is clearly not designed-in behaviour it would be nice to sort it. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you
    Alastair

    Hey Everybody!
I found the answer to the problem!!!!  I was having the same problem except
it would NOT save the converted PDF, it just sat there in the
que.  Follow this link and the instructions
    and it fixed the problem!
    http://acrobatninja.blogspot.com/2011/03/printing-problems-with-adobe-acrobat.html
P.S.  I just got a new laptop running Windows 7 64b and was forced to upgrade my Acrobat from V.8 to X Pro to use at all in W 7.  Been fighting this problem now for 3 months.  Thank GOD I finally found the real fix!

  • Printer Adobe PDF (Acrobat X)

    Hi!
I am having problem printing an Illustrator file or Excel file into the Adobe PDF (Acrobat X, from Design Standar CS5.5). I'm getting an error that says: Can't find Adobe PDF ressource files, C:\documents and settings\user\application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\settings\minimal file size.joboptions (in french it is: Taille de fichier minimales.joboptions) .
You need Administrator Rights to install these File.
Do I really need to give the user admin rights? I did tried running the application in Administrator mode (Run As), it was working, but in that folder, there is no such file.
Thanks if you can help me

It sounds like you've got a custom job option that you're trying to access. Try placing your custom job option here: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
This should allow all users, regardless of rights level, access to your file.

    Saludos
