When you are speaking about the "help notes" are you talking about this Help excerpt? If so, it is only saying that you need to make sure that the installer actually exists in the location listed under "Installer Source Location" in the Additional Installer section of the installer build specification. Typically users install their device drivers from a CD in their CD drive, so if that is the case, the source location will be their CD drive, and they will need to make sure to have the proper device driver CD inserted into the CD drive before building the installer.

Creating virtual directory with OC4J

Hello, all.
I thought this issue was going to be straight-forward, but after searching this forum and the General one I am not so sure.
Can someone tell me how to create virtual directory mappings or contexts for 10gAS so that jsps that reside in an remote directory (not under OAS_HOME) can be run through OC4J? The remote directory is already defined as a virtual directory in Apache and a servlet some of the pages hit is also deployed in OC4J.
I read that you should be able to use OEM to update either the global-web-application.xml file or the orion-web.xml file, but I am unsure as to whether you create the virtual directories for the dms or webapp applications? I need the virtual directory to be available to more than one particular app.

I don't know if one can use the apache virtual directory in oc4j, however, you can archive the same effect by using the
<virtual-directory real-path="pathRelativeToContextRoot" virtual-path="realPath" />
element in orion-web.xml. Please see the doc at

I believe you jsps will work if put in the virtual directory.

Is Indesign suitable for creating a directory with anchored images?

I have an ancient eight-page Quark document (originally created in 3.5, now in 8.5) that contains over 200 3cm adverts created in other applications called in as images anchored into text. This means that each month I can add or remove entries and the rest flows round in linked text boxes.
It also means that Quark quits every few minutes and the job is now virtually impossible to complete.
I am considering recreating the whole thing in Indesign but before I do, I would like to hear from anyone doing the same type of thing:
How stable is Indesign for this type of job? How does it cope with over 200 images (pdfs, eps, tiffs, jpgs whatever) anchored as text? Is there a format for images that Indesign prefers to handle? I imagine it's pretty intensive to process as each advert also contains an image or two and fonts of its own. I'd rather keep the adverts as vector files as the text is so tiny – even though I know that resaving the lot in Photoshop would probably help no end (removing font problems, embedded images etc etc).
Any suggestions, feedback etc gratefully received.

It shouldn't be a problem unless the Quark issue comes over to ID (something like a corrupt font). As long as you link and don't embed or paste the vector art; images, fonts, or complex drawing won't add to the screen redraw overhead because the preview is a JPEG proxy.

Unable to create ASO cube with 120 attributes in Essbase

Hi All,
Currently we have requirement to build the ASO cube contains 6 hierachies and they wants to include all the columns of three relational tables.So,I adding all the columns as attributes to three of each hierarchies because they are all descriptive of each dimension.
Now when I am trying build individually its wroking fine,When I am combining its throws an error "Network Error.Cannot close the cube".I seen in Essbase limitations that it will allow upto 256 dimensions however in my scenerio it is not accepting even 140(including all).
Can some one assist is there any possible solution to build the cube.

Can I create a directory database in Numbers, like I have done in Access?

I have a database in Access that I converted to numbers for the data, but I want to create a directory with merge fields so that its easier to read and pretty to look at. Can this be done in Numbers or Pages? or is there another program comparable to Microsoft Access that I need to get. Is there freeware that would do the trick? thanks.

thanks for offering your help. I have about 120 contacts in one database with about 20 fields for each contact: name, phn, birthday, anniv, email, address, hobbies, heritage, etc. I guess about 5 or 6 contacts would fit on a page.
I also have another database that is quite smaller. only about 68 contacts, with just 9 or 10 fields per contact. Last Name, First Name, Unit, Home Phone, Cell Phone, EMail Address, Alt Email, Alt Cell Phone, Additional. I would like the option to add fields as this document grows.
I searched online for some database management software but it seems that you need to know programing. I inherited the access database listed first so I only had to tweek things, copy and paste fields, I did not have to create it from scratch. Am I looking for the wrong type of program? Is there a program out there that makes simple directories? Or is there an easy way to create a merge document (In Pages or Numbers) to have multiple contacts on one page. Like a label? I am able to create a merge form letter, but can not figure out how to get multiple contacts on a page. I am not planning to give up on my Mac. I am committed to is as I have spent a few thousand dollars to get this, But I just need to know how to get started.

Moving a file from a directory with the same name to the parent

Hello,
I created a directory with the name a.txt and put a file in there called a.txt.
(This was an accident, I had originally tried to just save a file a.txt in the a.txt directory's parent directory.)
So I had parent->a.txt->a.txt.
Then using finder I dragged the a.txt file into the parent directory.
The replace file dialog came up, as I would expect, to replace the a.txt directory with the a.txt file.
I clicked replace.
Then both the directory a.txt and the file a.txt went missing.
They're not in the Trash.
The a.txt file is not in the parent directory.
I understand that there is an underlying process behind moving/replacing/etc., and I understand what I was trying to do is unusual, but this is just crap design.
PS: I can replicate the problem.
PSS: I'm using Lion.

I have created a site with iWeb. I have replaced the iWeb Nav bar with a vertical one I made myself. Problem is, my top button disables itself if it overlaps into the "hidden" nav bar area. I can cmd click and drag it into this area, but then all the rest

Well, you made a good start with SEO by getting rid of the iWeb default navigation since it doesn't help the spiders and, out there in the real world, there are more people than you would think with javascript turned off in their browsers.
One of the downsides of iWeb is that it doesn't allow for the alt attribute in the img tag. Its well worth adding these to give you extra keywords even if you have captioned all your images. Use iWeb SEO Tool for this...

Creating active directory users with dscl

Our mac workstations (OSX 10.8) are bound to a 2008 Active Directory server. We are attempting to use some existing dscl scripts on the mac client computer to create Active directory users. We can successfully read and change AD attributes of an existing user with dscl, but creating new users or new attributes for an existing user gives us an error. Here are some examples.
SUCCESSFUL READ OF AD USER ATTRIBUTE:

The same error occurs when attempting to create a new user. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

In the end I could not find them; account info is ONLY stored locally in Open Directory when they have mobile accounts.
However, I found I could migrate their user directories in Terminal via ditto ( I connected the old macs via Firewire Target mode) , and when they log in all their stuff and settings are there.
the command is: ditto /Volumes/<old mac hard drive>/Users/<username> /Users/<username>

         How to create a node with attributes at runtime in webdynpro for ABAP? What classes or interfaces I should use? Please provide some sample code.
I have checked IF_WD_CONTEXT_NODE_INFO and there is ADD_NEW_CHILD_NODE method. But this is not creating any node. I this this creates only a "node info" object.
I even check IF_WD_CONTEXT_NODE but i could not find any method that creates a node with attribute.

As you see above I am trying to create 'DYNFLIGHT' along with the 2 attributes which are inside this node. The structure of the node that is, no.of attributes may vary based on some condition. Thats why I am trying to create a node dynamically.
Also I cannot define the structure in the ABAP dictionary because it changes based on condition

The answer lies in the remit of your Windows administrator to create an alias or link that points
from your db server to your app server.
Once that is done, you can refer to the directory as if it was a local one situated on the db server, as normal.

What is the problem? Looks like you already have /home configured. Are you sure automounter is not running?
Try this:

Unable to create node
pc05\sapmnt\ with type DIRECTORY: can't create parent node..
I searched SDN and found as possible error causes: lacking authorization of installation user or users nspadm and SAPServiceNSP, wrong JRE version, but those are not applicable.
Any other suggestions?

thanks for the reply, it brought me to the solution: I had to de-activate the Windows Firewall and hat to check 'Network users are allowed to change files'.
I know made it till phase 17, quite a step.

does anyone can help with creating an XML node with only attributes but no value?
e.g.

No, the question was not about attributes with no value, it was about elements with no value.
Now I know that the "value" of an element is a meaningless term in XML, but the OP's example shows that the question was how to produce an empty element. Even though the text describes the operation as "insert one attribute node", which doesn't agree with the example.
It's easy to create an empty element using DOM, but we have no idea whether the OP is talking about DOM programming or what.

so i'll be quick :
- when you load ur xml DOM, u can use the 'getElementById()' method, and it works very well
- but when u create a new Element, u can't use the simple 'setAttribute()' method because as said in the doc : "Because the DOM Core is not aware of attribute types, it treats all attribute values as simple strings, even if the DTD or schema declares them as having tokenized types.", therefore, the 'getElementById()' can't work with those newly created Element.
- same pb arise when u try to modify an ID attribute...
so, with my investigation, i found that u need to specify to the DOM that the attribute you just set is an 'ID'.
and that's where i have problems, i tried creating EntityReference and binding that node to the attribute node, the element node and even to the Textnode but couldn't find anything to work...
Here is my method (which doesn't work) :

After thinking about it some more, I find that adding a setIdAttribute() method in a DOM level 3 conformant way while at the same time keeping it independent of a particular DOM implementation would take quite some effort. It's easier to add similar functionality into a Document wrapper along these lines:

}Unfortunately this simple implementation breaks down if an ID attribute value is later changed, so this is probably a rather dirty hack.
Some DOM implementations allow you to search for nodes using implementation specific methods or XPath. Oracle's XML does it like this:

Element elt = (Element)doc.selectSingleNode("//*[@id='123']");
Or like this with Xalan:
CachedXPathAPI xpath = new CachedXPathAPI();
Element elt = (Element)xpath.selectSingleNode(doc, "//*[@id='123']");
The XPath based ways of searching for nodes have the benefit of not being dependent on schema validation in the first place (as the ID based mechanisms are). And of course you have many more search options than just attribute values. On the other hand XPath evaluation is hugely slower than most getElementById implementations if it doesn't use some kind of index. So if you want fast (that is index based) XPath queries for in memory XML data, you should probably look at something like XQEngine http://xqengine.sourceforge.net/
