Create a "Domain User"

From here [url http://e-docs.bea.com/aldsp/docs30/admin/security.html#wp1090018]
I found that only a "domain user" can do what I am trying to do. However, the only user account created during creation of the domain is "weblogic" which appears not to be a domain user, but merely an administrator. I was not prompted to create a domain user when I created the domain. So, can someone tell me how to do this?
Thanks,
Jeff

A "domain user" is simply a user in the domain. The "weblogic" account is a "domain user".
To create more "domain users", go to the documentation for WebLogic Server, and search on : create a user

The Runbook is Synched with Service Manager, Request Offering/Service Offering and published to the portal.
When I filled the 4 required values (First Name, Last Name, Login Name, Deparment Name), the Runbook will kick off and the user is created in Active Directory.

  • Non-domain user authentication against SSAS on Active/Passive Cluster

    Hello,
We have an Active/Passive SQL Server setup (DB1 & DB2 Servers) connected to a cluster for SQL & SSAS.  I have a web server not on the same domain that I am trying to authenticate with SSAS.  This works OK if I set the website to impersonate
myUser and I add local account myUser as an Admin on SSAS for the active server (DB1).  But when this fails over to DB2 then it fails to authenticate.  SSAS won't allow us to add myUser as an admin for local accounts on both DB1 & DB2 as it errors
adding the second one.  Could anyone advise how such a scenario should be approached?
We have tried creating a domain user too which DB1 & DB2 can of course both share but I don't think the web server can impersonate this with being not part of the domain.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jcorker,
According to your description, you need to access the SQL Serve Analysis Services database which is configured as cluster for SQL & SSAS from another domain, right?
In SSAS we can use the solution below achieve the requirement.
1.Create new domain account and impersonate the web site with that.
2.Create local user account on the analysis service with same exact username/password as like domain account created in the previous step.
However, you cannot create a local account with the same name on both servers. I have tested it on my local environemnt, we can create the same local account with the same name on both servers. In your scenario, if DB1 and DB2 on different server, you can
create a local account with the same name on both servers. Please post the detail errors, so that we can make further analysis.
Besides, SSAS only allows users of the same domain or trusted domains and it does not allow users from any domain except from these two. You can configure the trust relationship between the domains.

  • Should I use Managed Service Accounts or individual, Domain User accounts?

I'm setting up a new SP 2013, and I'm trying to be very granular as it relates to "Least Privilege".
I'm trying to figure out which accounts could be created as Managed Service Accounts (MSA's) and which ones truly need to be created as Domain User accounts in order to run either specific SQL and/or SharePoint services.
At face value, I *think* any service could be successfully run using an MSA and yet any installation of either SQL Server 2012 and/or SharePoint 2013 should be done using a Domain User account created for that specific purpose (i.e., SP_FARM, SP_ADMIN, SQL_ADMIN,
etc.). In fact, I *think* the installation would HAVE to be done with an actual Domain User account, because (unless I'm wrong), MSA's do not have a shell and therefore CAN'T log on...which is by design?
Here's a Microsoft TechNet article that lists many of the accounts I'm referring to:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/14500.sharepoint-2013-service-accounts.aspx
Note that it says MOST of the accounts are Domain accounts, but I don't *think* all of these need to BE
Domain accounts - I think MOST of them could be created as MSA's and assigned to run the specific service without any problems whatsoever?
So again, my question is: which accounts could be created as Managed Service Accounts (MSA's) and which ones truly need to be created as Domain User accounts in order to run either specific SQL and/or SharePoint service or to even perform a
    successful installation of the software?
    Ed

No, script 1 does not create Active Directory Managed Service Accounts (see here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2009/09/10/managed-service-accounts-understanding-implementing-best-practices-and-troubleshooting.aspx) These are not applicable to SharePoint and are not mentioned in any of those scripts, look at the PowerShell
    commandlets, they are very different.
Script 1 creates active directory users. These are, as far as AD cares, just standard user objects. There is nothing at all special about them in AD.
At some point you would install SharePoint using those accounts, during that process they get resisted in SharePoint as SharePoint Managed Accounts.
Script 2 updates the settings on those managed accounts in bulk.

  • Windows 2012 : A domain user who does not belong to the Administrators group can change the passwords

    Hello,
    Can a domain user
that does not belong to the Administrators group,
be able to change your password ?
I tried to create a domain user account
without administrative access. This user account have
    permission to access Windows Server
    2012 via Remote Desktop.
I tried to access the same account
to the Active Directory Users and Computers,
i was amazed, because the user account it can  changed
    the password for multiple accounts,
    included one administrator account.
    Best regards,
    Ricardo

    Hi Ricardo,
I agree with Martin, we can check the membership about this user account. Besides, we can refer to following steps to check the memberships:
Start the ADUC on windows 2012.
Right-click the user account and select
Properties, then click the Member Of tab.
Check which group is the user account belongs to.
In addition, i suggest you create a new user account, and check if the new account can change other user’s password.
    Best Regards,
    Erin

  • Domain User Removed due this hyperion configurations went to failed.

    Hi All,
In our hyperion application domain user deactivated (removed). due to this our both hyperion financial management (HFM) and Financial data quality management (FDQM) configurations went to Configurations faield and we getting error message while logging into FDQM saying that "Primary Load balance server is unavailable -- attempting to use backup Load balance server" After that again we reactivated the domain user now application is up and running.
Again I tried to re-config (after re-actived domin user)the both HFM & FDQM configurations unfortunatully I am getting faild status.
But still configuration was in red mode only (Configuration failed). we cann't keep this domain user id no longer (Becaues it is related one user is no more with the organisation).
We want to create the new domain user & we need to re-config the both HFM & FDQM configurations.
Could you please help me out how to do this.
    Thanks,

    Thanks for your suggestion,
But still I have some questions could you please clarify me.
    1. The movement we removed domain user the FDM & HFM configuration went Configurations failed (RedMark) status (Configure FDM Server, Configure DCOM, Configure Application Server)
    2. How we can bring back to Configured (Green Mark) status.
    3. I hope if we create new domain user we need to re-config (Configure DCOM) but I am not sure about this.
    4. In case failure the new domain does it impact the Application & Data?
Could you please help me out what needs to be done.
Note: What ever domain user we removed earlier, we re-activated the same and application is up & running, but configurations still in with Red Mark but the problem is we can't continue this domain id because it is linked with user id.

  • DN attribute change after moving the domain user

good day , I created a domain user through
FIM 2010 , created for the user attribute DN (cn = LastName FirstName middleName, ou = fim2010, dc = company, dc = test).
after the user is created, I move it to another OU (named "NewOU") through ActiveDirectory console.
After moving I do Delta Import on ADMA in my FIM.
    Watching Connector Space for ADMA.
DN attribute is changed to "cn = LastName FirstName middleName, ou = NewOU, ou = fim2010, dc = company, dc = test".
Check changes in the metabase "Distinguished Name (old) - my new DN" and "Distinguished Name (new) - my old DN, which initially creates a user in AD" after synchronization and Export ,
users are removed from the new OU and move into the old . I think that it is because of Initial Flow Only for Outbound AD rules .
But I have created two identical rules declaring attribute DN.
first marked as Initial Flow Only second to none.

  • Creating a domain with the access to specific user

    Hi,
I tried creating a custom domain(soaAdmin) in BPEL with access to user. I could create new user ,new customdoaminadmin role and attach this role to new user.
Problem is when we try to attach this role or user to new custom domain using JAZN tool command its not working.Following is the full description regarding this.
Configuring Roles and Users for a File-Based Security Provider(from em help)
If you are using a file-based security provider, you configure users and roles as follows:
Navigate to the OC4J Home Page for the OC4J Instance.
Click Administration to display the Administration page.
Click the Go to Task icon in the Security Providers row of the Administration Task table.
Enterprise Manager displays the Security Providers page.
To configure roles and users for the default application, click Instance Level Security.
    OR
To configure roles and users for a specific application, scroll to the Application Level Security section of the page and click the edit icon for a selected application that uses a file-based security provider.
Enterprise Manager displays the Security Provider page.
Click Realms to display the Realms page.
The Realms page includes a table containing the defined realms for the selected security provider. The table contains a column that shows the number of users and roles defined for each realm.
To configure the users for a realm, click the number in the Users column.
    OR
To configure the roles for a realm, click the number in the Roles column.
now if we see in setup of em we are able to see new user(soaAdmin) assigned to roles(BPMsoaAdminDomainAdmin,BPMCustomDomainAdmin).means we have user and role in realm.
if we run the following jazn tool command to attach this user to custom domain(soaAdmin) it is not able recognize shell.
    java -Xbootclasspath/a:/home/oc4j/bpel/lib/orabpel-boot.jar -jar jazn.jar
-shell -grantperm jazn.com -user soaAdmin com.collaxa.security.DomainPermission
    soaAdmin all
    or
    java -Xbootclasspath/a:/home/oc4j/bpel/lib/orabpel-boot.jar -jar jazn.jar
    -shell -grantperm jazn.com -role BPMsoaAdminDomainAdmin
    com.collaxa.security.DomainPermission soaAdmin all
so we changed that command as follows and run in the j2ee home it is displaying that permission class is not found.
java -classpath F:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\bpel\lib\orabpel-boot.jar -jar jazn.jar -grantperm jazn.com -user soaAdmin com.collaxa.security.DomainPermission soaAdmin all
as result of this we are not able to login to custom domain BPEL console with new user (attched error screen when we try to login).

    Hi,
If you are using file-based installation, you can install as non-root user and create domains as usual. You can use asadmin command available at <AS_INSTALL>/bin to do this.
    ex: ./asadmin create-domain domaindir /tmp/justfortest adminport 4850 --adminuser admin domain_nonroot_test
Did you face any problem doing this in non-root. Unless you have write permissions in domaindir, you won't be facing any problem.
    Hope this clarifies your question.
    Thanks,

This problem wil happen only if you've created a user with an empty group id, and this issue is fixed for FCS .
You have two workarounds to use adminGUI for managing users:
    1. Use CLI, and create a group id to this user, then you can use adminGUI.
    2. Other option is remove the empty group id user from domain.xml, and then you can come back to adminGUI to create the user with some group id. I prefer the 1st option.

I was following the steps mentioned at : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14252.pdf to create my domain to start portal development.

Those are the WLP 10.3.2 instructions. But, the 10.3.4 instructions in the tutorial (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26806_01/wlp.1034/e14252/setup_dev_env.htm#i1014619) are wrong, too.
In 10.3.4, with derby, Run Scripts doesn't work any longer; it should still work the other database (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.). Instead, for derby, just create the domain, accepting any warning dialogs about databases that come up. After that finishes, in the domain directory, run create_db.cmd (on windows) or create_db.sh (on *nix and Mac). It should create the derby database files in the domain, and include everything needed.
I'll send a note to get the docs updated.
