Create a Drill Down?

I'm trying to create a drill down report where, if the user clicks on an item in the group tree it will show the information for that and only that item
I've created my report as a "standard report" because the "Drill down" option was not available in .NET2005 or my Crystal Reports 9 developer edition
Right now I have a group structure that looks like this:
Day
Order Number
Right now when I click on it; it brings me to the Group Details section and shows all the data, I want it to show the data for that Order Number
I've been looking into the formulas and "DrillDownGroupLevel" always returns 0 no matter what I click on in the group tree, I'm guessing because I don't have drill down setup for the group(I don't know how)?

Can you satisfy this requirement using cascading prompts?  Your requirement sounds best suited for this functionality.

  • How to create a drill down in crosstab?

    Hi All,
I have created a crosstab in CRXI repoprt. Now I'm trying to create a drill down in it. The crosstab is very simple.
    Data in table is as:
    SUBJECT   DATE    YIELD PCT
    Browser   04/11    78.90
    Radio     04/13    90.00
    HTTP      04/22    89.09
    Browser   04/15    90.09
    HTTP      04/15    100.00
    Radio     04/15    100.00
    CROSSTAB Data:
                    Browser   HTTP     Radio
    04/11           78.90      0        0
    04/13            0         0        90.00
    04/15           90.09     100.00    100.00
    04/22            0         89.09     0
Columns are "SUBJECT" and Rows are "DATE" and I have taken "Max of Yield PCT" as Summation field.
Now If I click on Yeild_PCT data in crosstab, it should drill down. I have created a drill down as Another report. I have tried FormatObject>Hyperlink>"Another Report Object". Copied the yield_PCT column from source report & pasted in "Another Report Object" but it is not working.
    Really appreciate any help.
    Thanks in Advance.

if you're trying to use drill-down in cross-tabs with report parts you need syntax that is specific to a cross-tab. please look up Report Parts in your Online Help, Index and then go to the Context Scenarios section.
    Cross-tabs
If the object you copy in your source report is part of a cross-tab, the Context Report Part data context is based on the selected object embedded in the cross-tab. Crystal Reports creates the data context by tracking if the selected object in the cross-tab is a row, column, or cell. Next, the program retrieves row and column names. Then it parses the Design view data context. Finally, it generates the Context Report Part data context by adding the GridRowColumnValue function if the group in the data context formula appears in the row or column names retrieved earlier. You might see, for example, a data context such as:
    "/"GridRowColumnValue("Customer.Country")"/"+GridRowColumnValue("Customer.Region")

  • How do I create a drill down for my summary data?

I have 7 fields of summary data with all having a common link called the customer account number.
I have tried the following steps several time carefully and was unable to get my drill down to work.
Insert menu > Group and chose the customer account number as my group field
copy and paste the summary fields to the group header ( which I now have hundreds of GH1)
Right click on the details section and chose Hide.
    Suppress the Group Footer
File Menu > Report options and check on Show All Headers on Drill Down.
I must be missing a step somewhere here.  I end up with no summary fields showing (to drill down into), and the customer account numbers showing.
Can some check this out for me?

    hi Michael,
you need a group to have drill down. you can't drill down on a report footer. if you can't group by these categories then you can't have drill down.
your other option is to create an on demand subreport that you can open. i would suggest that you go through a bunch of the e-learning tutorials on crystal reports here. after that go to the online help for crystal reports and use the search tab and search for "creating an on demand subreport"
you'd need to create an on demand subreport for each total that you are showing. again, please see the elearning topics especially on subreports, grouping. and then do follow the steps on on demand subreports in the online help.

  • Create a drill down in function

    HI all,
I could need some help, but I don't know if it is even possible.
Currently we use in a BI-IP workbook two levels on input. We use a filter setting in workbook function to give other chars filter values.
    Example of the problem:
We've a layout with compcode, material and a keyfig
First we do input on compcode and material, both chars are in row so we can enter data.
Secondly we want to plan only compcode, with help of a function we put material to # (FILTER_VALUE_EXT). Causing material to be removed from layout.
Now we want to plan again compcode and material. So we remove filter value. ANd the issue is that the user need to put manually the material as drill down to rows.
Does someone now a need VBA trick or simple FIlter option for this? (Example is not respentative for problem, but is easiest to explain like this)
    Thanks!
    JvdP

    Hi,
I advice you to go for VB coding only for the following scenarios,
    1. User wants to see calculated values using the data from two reports.
    2. User wants to display extended text in the workbook.
    3. User wants special formatting in the Report like merging cells, making text bold, highlighting columns or cells.
In you case, you can actually include material as an attribute for compcode and then load the attribute master data in your BW system. Then you can create dropdown box on material and include a Exit variable for material, which gets filled by the value of compcode. The logic of your variable Exit code should be as follows,
Check in the master data table for the material attribute value of compcode to fill the dropdown box.
Try this approach and let us know whether your issue is solved or not.
    Note:
For more information on the VB usage in BEx kindly refer to the following document,

    Hi,
You can enable Drill Down function by right clicking Section Name and choose
    Drilldown OK.
Refer to the link for the complete details.

  • Problem creating Drill-Down report

    Hi,
I have problem in creating a drill-down report, got confused how to do it. this is my requirement.
The main portion that will be first displayed contains a group on match_code and has its own detail section. now when the user selects one of these match_code it should drill down to give more information about this match_code, so the Drill down should also have its own detail section that will be hide and drilldown ok.
If this the proper way to do it. I will be creating a drill down report for the first time.
    Thanks,
    Reena

    Hello Reena,
If I understand your situation correctly you have a group on match_code and a details and b section. You want the Group Header and Details a sections to appear on the first "page" or drilldowngrouplevel 0. When the user drills down you want the Details b section to appear.
You can do that using the drilldowngrouplevel function.
Set the details b section to suppress when drilldowngrouplevel = 0, this section will only appear after drilldown.
I am not sure if you still want the details a or group sections to appear after drilldown, if you do then there is no need for conditional suppression. If you don't then use a conditional suppression formula for those sections of drilldowngrouplevel <> 0

  • Drill down hide/show report on same page

    Hi,
Is it possible to create a drill down report where instead of linking to new pages, the details can be displayed using hide/show buttons on the relevant columns? For example, if you have the following fields:
    Region
    Country
    Division
    Account
    Order
    Product ID
    Product Price
Would it be possible to ,by default, have the report only show distinct regions. By clicking an expand button on a particular region, it's countries are displayed. By clicking an expand button on a country, its divisions are displayed, etc., eventually being able to drill down to order details.
This seems similar to a tree to me, although I have not used trees before. However, from the way I understand the structure of hierarchy in trees, the way this data is structured it would not be possible through a tree.
Any ideas? If not I can just settle on a standard drill down report with links to new pages, but if the above is possible it would work much better for my users.
    Thanks

    FJW,
Yes, it's possible. We typically refer people to this demo from Carl to get an idea of how it can be accomplished:

  • Parameter Problem with Drill down reports

    Hi,
I have created a drill down report.
I have a master report which list all the employee names and a detail report which list the contact details for each employee selected.
The URL looks like this http://webser/dev60cgi/rwcgi60.exe?detail&p_empid = 1200
detail is a kepmapping entry in cgicmd
this does not work and the detail report does not get the p_empid value.
Now if i enter the compelete url like http://webser/dev60cgi/rwcgi60.exe?server=rep_ss&report=det.rdf......
    it works.
    Any suggestions !
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I got this resolved by using javascript and doing explicit form submit. As our information is highly secured we don't want the users to see any of the URL links from href, browser or from view source.
I got the first two resolved but when i do a view source i could se in header sections of html view souce the follwing code
    <head>
    < base href="http://webser.../522222.htm>
    </head>
is there any way using reports i can hide this.
Any help, suggestions or reference will be highly apprecaited.

  • Total Label in Drill down reports

This is a simple case scenario. I created one drill down report by Country --> State --> City and set this object as section. It has revenue Column in it. Now I did Summation on the Revenue column and it shows like this
    USA  -- (Section)
    Column1, Column2
    XXX, 3
    Sum, 3
Now instead of Sum, I would like the label to replace it with country name and when I drill down to second level, it should replace it with the State name and again on level 3 replace it with City name.
Could anyone help me on achieving this. Is it doable? I have been trying to achieve this but had no success.
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Rids

Yes, It can be achieved with the help of the DrillFilters() function.
You can build the logic using if-else condition. Here is the one for you:
=If(Drillfilters([City])<>"") Then [City] Else If(Drillfilters([State])<>"") Then [State] Else If(Drillfilters([Country])<>"")
    Then [Country]

  • Query in EIS Drill-Down Reports

    Hi all:
We want to build Drill-down reports in EIS. I know the basic of creating a drill-down report. Created a sample using SQL server database and Essbase 9.3.1 dummy(test) cube.
Just to give you a background we have planning application and no Essbase-only applications.
I wanted to know is it possible to use an already existing cube in essbase to create drill down reports. I do not want to go through a process of creating the hierarchy in EIS as we already have DRM and a process around metadata creation, which is not likely to change.
Is there some tool that can take a outline and create a Model/Metaoutline in EIS ?
Please let me know in case you have any suggestions or wild ideas on this :)

The short answer is no, you can't do it that way.
EIS development flows from the relational side to the Essbase side.
The Metadata Outline cannot be built until the OLAP Model has been created. Drill through reports are LROs defined in the Metadata Outline and linked through the OLAP model to the source tables.
I tried to do the same thing four years ago and learned that EIS has to build the Essbase Outline in order to enable drill-through. In Version 11.1.2 that has not changed.
I am curious, though. I was told by my Oracle Planning instructors that EIS doesn't work with Planning. Is that no longer true?
    Good Luck.
    Tim
