Create a Image viewer
I would like to create an image viewer applet, so that I am able to display lots of images as (thumbnails) and also to be able to select and display one image at a time, as well as zooming in and out. How do I get started? What good books can help me? Please help?
thanks

Look to the left under documentation. There us a nice Tutorial
section. First start with making simple applets. Once you
are done, move into making GUIs so you get a good handle on
components and containers. Finally, as was suggested, read
anything you can find in there about JAI. Your best friend,
when you are done the tutorials, should be the API as it
provides all the classes and methods that you should need.

How to create a Image Viewer using JOGL JSR 231
Hello All,
Am very new to this JOGL concept. I believe its advantage is the speed with which image transformations and manipulations can be done. My need is on similar lines albiet only on 2d, i.e to be able to display large medical images to the tune of may be 20-30 MB. Apart from displaying them I should also be able to zoom , pan and the other normal manipulations. Currently teh speed with which the image pans or zooms are extremely slow that its a pain to the users.
Could anyone please provide a sample code on how to load and zoom an image using the JOGL JSR 231 version. Why I am saying this is because I tried working with the older JOGL and when I migrated to this latest version, the package structure and methods seems to have changed. In both cases I did not make any headway. Any help, suggestions are welcome and I would remain thankful for the same.

I am trying to write the jpg image files to the client machine.
In fact, I am working on a distributed database system,
thus the client machine has its own DB instance.
The blob table of a site A is transferred to a site B using "database link".
I inserted jpg images at the site A, and the BLob table was transferred
to the site B by using db link.
I would like to create the jpg files from the BLob table of "the site B".
I want to do this by using pure PLSQL.
Best Regards.

How do I edit image viewer slideshow created in CS3, in CS4?
I apologize for posting this twice...once in a previous post and once here. The reason being...the other post was old (2008) and I'm afraid it might get overlooked. So I thought I'd create a new discussion.
I created a bunch of slideshows in CS3 using Insert - Media - Image Viewer. I was looking for an easy way for my client to update the site themselves. Even though it creates a Flash element, it is easy for them to go in and switch out the images. All they do is click on the slideshow box, hit Window - Tag Inspector and click on the little folder at the side of the Image URLs' line. Nothing could be simpler. Well...I went in to see my client to show her how to do this but she has CS4. When I tried to do the same thing, nothing looked the same. The tag inspector did not have the same elements in it at all. Does this mean she cannot edit the slideshows I have created? Ugh...
If anyone can help with a work around to this...I'd be very grateful!
Thanks.
PamThanks for your reply via e-mail David. I tried to reply but it's a no reply address so I'm posting here:
Do you happen to know if my client who has CS4 would be able to open the slideshows I created in CS3 using the method mentioned here:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Bridge/3.0/WSCF044571-2772-4d28-9EBD-2C9F46AF008A.html
Not having CS4, I can't even play around with it to see. Or will the slideshows have to be recreated in CS4? Has my work in CS3 over the months gone to waste in other words?
Alternatively, would it be better for us both to purchase a $29 Dreamweaver extension such as the one below, so we could both access the slideshow from CS3 and CS4 at the same time?
http://www.dwuser.com/flashslideshow/v3/
I need to keep building the new site using the slideshows while she maintains the old site (no slideshows) until we upload the new site this summer. I don't want to continue building slideshows she cannot access.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Creating Disk Images for viewing on a PC
I created a data dvd of information for work on my iMac by dragging the folders that I needed onto the DVD. I then burned it in my super drive. I put the completed DVD into a pc and navigated through the files.
I created an image file (dmg and cdr) of the DVD on my iMac for future use in case someone else wanted a copy of the information.
When I burn the dmg or cdr image to a DVD, I can navigate through it with my iMac without any problems but when I put DVD into a PC, the PC says that it is a blank disk.
I guess my question is, how do I create an image so that I can burn it and use it on either a mac or a pc?I created the image from a disk. I put the DVD I wanted to image in the super drive, opened Disk Utility, selected the DVD from the left side of the Disk Utility window. I then went to the menu: File - New - Disk Image From <Name of the DVD>. I tried to use different image formats (Read/Write, DVD/CD Master).
When I went to copy the dmg file, I selected it and then Burned it. It is readable in my iMac but not on a PC. -
Widget: Flash Slideshow (Image Viewer) - Modifications Help!
I created a Flash photo slideshow using Dreamweaver CS3's Insert > Media > Image Viewer. It can be seen here: http://cba.ua.edu/~ckent/ImageViewer/imageviewer.html.
All and only relevant files can be found in the following directory: http://cba.ua.edu/~ckent/Image_Viewer/.
Then, I added a Web Widget to my iWeb '08 site, using the entire code from image_viewer.html as the HTML Snippet (after changing relative links to absolute). Everything works beautifully.
However, I have a few questions for you Flash aficionados out there:
1. Is there a simple way to modify the code such that the images appear at random, instead of in the same order every time? Dreamweaver does not provide this as an option. I can do this easily with PHP, but of course that is not allowed with iWeb, so I'm looking for a quick and non-complex technique to add to/modify the existing code.
2. The images load quickly for normal bandwidth speeds, though with slower connections you sometimes see the loading dialog for a second or two. Is there any preload or other technique I could use to alleviate this?
3. Look at this page: http://cba.ua.edu/~ckent/ImageViewer/image_vieweralt.html. The green is a border that exists due to left-over space where titles and captions were supposed to be presented. Everything has been adjusted such that the minimum amount of space is left within the border. The images are 640x360, but the Flash element has to be set at 654x380 to display the full image size.
Is there anyway to completely collapse the border around the image viewer? I think this is a function of the actual SWF file, so I doubt it is easily possible considering Dreamweaver creates it on the fly.Download the template I made and posted on this thread, should get you started,

Hi all,
I am trying to work out how to create an image gallery on a
page whereby there is a set of thumbnails to the side and the
relevant large image opens adjacent to the thumbnails when they are
moused over.
I have done this using the hide/show layers function but the
output appears incosistently in different browsers and/or window
sizes. I had in mind some adaptation of the "swap image" behaviour
that would open the swap in a different position? Or alternatively
making the layers approach display consistently?
The layers version of the page can be
viewed
here
Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated,
thanks in advance,

Why does my flash image viewer look different in firefox than in IE...
So I have created a horizontal spry bar that overlaps a flash image viewer slide show. When i load the page in IE everything works fine, but as soon as you open it in firefox it works improperly...you can hit refresh in firefox and sometimes it resizes the image I don't understand how that is possible....if you have any input it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
You need to be aware of the limitations of the various browsers and make sure you use web-safe fonts and colors.....
http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/FontsandColors.html
Do a Command A on all your pages in iWeb to make sure that objects/text boxes are not touching or overlapping.
Firefox has problems with displaying drop shadows/frames etc.
To get help with specific issues you would need to tell us the URL of our site. -
I am creating a page in DW8 and have inserted an instance of
the Flash Image Viewer though despite changing the parameters in
the Tag Inspector and the Flash Element pane to say that the
controls should not be visible - they are and the pictures do not
show when I preview the page in the browser (IE7). I have created
on another page previously in another site where this works
perfectly. Can anyone make any suggestions?
The other odd thing is that when I preview in Opera or
Mozilla Firefox, they work. The same when I publish.

Non-working site =

Any suggestions gratefully received.
SteviePlease, first make a difference:
Are you trying to display a JPG file or a Flash
Video/animation ?
When you are designing the web site, you choose which one you
are going to insert on the page: In this sense: is you need to put
a Flash File, go to: Insert / Media / Flash and then choose the
file you are going to insert in DW.
On the other hand, If it's a JPG file you insert in a
different manner: select: Insert / Image , and then choose the JPG
file.
Rememer that the same path you are giving to the files (JPG
or Flash) is going to be claimed by the server, so create the same
directories containing the same names, in your hard drive and on
the server.
To finish it, it doesn't matter if you have the Flash
program. You only need the Flash Reader, but it has to be the same
version as the file you are using (it is much better, not totally
necesary).
Well, hope it will be usefull, best regards -
trying to add album from iphoto into idvd slideshow. Not all photos are loading. Message "creating thumbnail images...(31 remaining). Been there a long time. What is wrong?
Open your iPhoto Library, go to that particular album and verify that you can view the full sized version of each image by double clicking on them. Report back with the results.

IDVD won't create thumbnail images in slide shows
In a slide show, the window that used to show the photos in a slide show no longer renders thumbnails in the list or grid views. The status at the top of the window just sits there and spins forever, with the text "Creating thumbnail images...." Anyone know of a workaround?
Neither of these "fixes" has changed anything. I also cleared my cache, ran a diagnostic check, and a virus/trojan scan! Either way, firefox 4 is just not working up to my needs! Should, or can I go back to 3.6?

How to create an Image that is available to multiple locations?
I can create an image from a virtual machine, but this image is only available to the location where the virtual machine was originally created (for example East US).
I want to create a single image that is available to multiple locations (East US, North Europe, Southeast Asia, etc...)
Is this possible? I've noticed that stock images are available to multiple locations, can user images be configured in the same way?
Thankshi,
As far as I know, it is not supported currently. But you could use a compromise method. You could copy the Image into other regions storage account. Then you could create the VM using yourself Image. But you may be charged the outbound data. I recommend
