Create a PDF missing drawing elemets

When I select Save & Send - Create PDF, most of the background in my Visio drawing is missing. It looks fine in print preview, prints fine on my printer and also prints fine when using the Adobe PDF print driver.

Hi,
What do you mean background exactly? background design or background layer? Do you hide the background layer or make it invisible?
Since this issue may be caused by unexpected factors, maybe you can provide some sample files to let me know, please upload them to OneDrive and share the files with links.

  • How do I create  a PDF using Acrobat 7.0 in Windows 8 from a Visio drawing on a 64-bit system

I used to be able to create a PDF using Acrobat 7.0 from a Visio drawing in XP. Now I'm running a 64-bit system, no Adobe printer can be installed, and it is unsupported.  Help?

On a 32-bit system, there is a workaround. I do not think it is possible to get AA7 to work on a 64-bit system (no one has reported success and only 1 has suggested success with AA8). You may be able to print to a PS file and then open that in Distiller. I suspect that is the only way and you will have to find a decent PS printer driver to do it. I suspect the printer driver (and associated AcroTray) will not work in a 64-bit Win8 -- Acrobat and Distiller may.

  • HELP, Acrobat 9 missing files, won't create new PDF & won't repair

PLEASE HELP! I tried to create a PDF in Acrobat 9 from a Word 2003 document & it won't let me. I've done this many times before & now all of a sudden it won't work. The import starts & then I get a message that it is missing "pdfmaker files". I tried to repair Acrobat using the "Repair Acrobat Installation" button, but nothing happened. I tried to use my disk but get a message that the "Patch Package could not be opened". I'm using Windows XP. Any help is appreciated.

When ever you are having such problems, the first thing to try is the basic print process. The second is to look for the PDF toolbar in the applications of OFFICE that you are using (or other applications). If they do not exist, it is typically that the macros for PDF Maker are not enabled (Abhigyan has addressed this) or PDF Maker does not work with that application. The latter is sometimes either that there is no capability for the specific application or there is a compatibility issue between AA and the appl (like AA prior to 10 and OFFICE 2010).

  • Just upgraded from FrameMaker 7.2 to version 12. When I try to create a pdf of a book using .ps file, this crashes. When I use the SaveAsPDF option, the graphics either missing or only partially shown in the resulting PDF. Any ideas?

I just upgraded from FrameMaker 7.2 to version 12. When I create the .pdf of a book using the SaveAsPDF option, the many of the graphics are either missing or partially missing. Any ideas why?

    1. Check to see whether you're fully patched (the latest release is 12.0.4 - you need to install the patches in order).
    2. Use the RGB option instead of the CMYK (unless you are creating output for press production).

  • Missing information when creating a PDF!

    Hi,
We have InDesign CS4, and I recently produced a presentation for a Client. On particular pages, I placed a jpg. of an aerial map. I then drew using the pencil tool a shape, highlighting an area on the map. I filled the shape in red and then set a transparency at 80%. This all looked fine on screen, especially when I printed hard copies out.
However, when I created a PDF of the InDesign presentation, some of the shapes did not PDF!? I don't understand why some did, and some didn't!? To get the presentation ready, I decided to create a simple elliptical shape filled in red. This didn't print out either!?
Can anyone help with this query, as it is baffling me!
    Thanks,
    Ajay

  • Adobe Standard 8.0 - PDFs missing details

    Hello,
After creating a PDF file from an AutoCad 2006 drawing, I am missing many important details.
Only some lines are broken, there are words missing in the "comment bubbles" and half of the small circles with the page details/references are not even there.
I already tried to reinstall Adobe 8.0 software, and there is no change.
It also happens randomly, not for every converted/created page.
    Your help is much appreciated,
    Thanks.

I have the same problem. A window tries to open, then reverts to IE saying there is no connection to the internet. I close this window and another windows opens saying that the license agreement was not accepted so the application will close. Have uninstalled twice and disabled firewall but still the same.

  • Problems creating a PDF from a large Visio (2010) document

    Hello
Heres the setup, Windows 7, 64bit, Visio 2010 std, Adobe Acrobat X Standard, a 6.7mb .vsd file with a custom size of 6000 x 3000 mm that I want to convert to a pdf (not for printing)
Using File menu & save as in Visio converts to a pdf with great quality but cuts the page off, I've spent all day reading about the 200" issue and thats exactly where the cut off is.
Using right click on the .vsd file in explorer and convert to pdf opens the correct page size in the pdf but the drawing is screwed up, lines moved about, missing stuff etc.
    I dont know
    a) Why there is a difference between the 2 ways of creating the pdf
    b) how to have my cake and eat it! Good quality and right size page
Unfortunately I cannot use any third party apps, am I screwed?
Thank you everyone for looking and maybe even offering advice
    Cheers
    Stu

I looked at every setting as I had the same problem. This is what I found resolved the issue:
    1. Open Adobe Acrobat Reader and go to Edit/Preferences and change the pixel/inch ratio back to the standard.
    2. In Visio, go to Design tab, Size, and then More Page Sizes, and change the page size to Custom (your needed size.) (This opens Page Setup.)
    3. The printer paper size I could not change, but it didn't affect it.
The first option is what took me an hour to figure out. Hope this helps save people time.

  • We created a pdf document with comments and hyperlinks. On iPad, comments/hyperlinks disappear.

Using Acrobat Pro 9, we created a pdf with comments and hyperlinks to be shared with a large community on the iPad, through a server. Once the document is opened on the iPad, all the comments and hyperlinks disappear. Are we missing a tool on the iPad or is there a different way to create this file? Thank you.

Is everyone on the iPad using the latest version of Adobe Reader mobile for iOS (10.6 at the moment)? You can see all the comments (including drawing markups) as well as view the notes attached to text markup with this version.

  • Excel VBA add-in to create a PDF: What is acrodistdll.dll?

My Excel VBA add-in prints an Excel sheet with a list of drawing numbers, then prints all the drawings (it communicates with a CAD and a CAM application via COM). Then it repeats the cycle many times, with different list of drawings. At the end I have hundreds or thousands of paper sheets.
I want to create a PDF file instead of wasting that much paper, so I explored the Adobe objects available in my computer and I found out that adding a reference in the VBA project to Acrobat.dll and to acrodistdll.dll I could use the PdfDistiller to convert PostScript files to PDF and the Acrobat.CAcroApp, Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc and Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc objects to merge many PDF files into one large PDF file. Then I use the external tool pdftk to create the bookmarks.
Everything works well on my computer, but when I try to use the Excel add-in on another computer the references are missing.
I don't know what was installed on my computer. The IT department said that some of our computers have no Adobe products, some have only free Adobe products, and some have some products that we purchased. But they don't know what purchased or free products were installed on my computer.
    So my questions are:
Are the above mentioned DLLs the correct tool to achieve my goal?
If no, what is the best way?
If yes, how do I install them on the other computers? Are they part of some free product or are they part of a product that I need to purchase?
    Thanks,
    Stefano

  • Hyperlinks not converting when creating a pdf from Word 2010 to Adobe Acrobat 11.0.6

First off, let me say that these are not table of contents hyperlinks.  I have created a document in Word 2010 (not a MAC) with hyperlinks to files residing on our company's intranet.  In Word the hyperlinks work great but when I create the pdf, the links do not work.  I have converted using both PDFMaker from Word and Create a pdf from within Acrobat.  Yes, I have all the boxes checked regarding saving links.  The links appear to work partially.  Meaning that when I hover the cursor over the link, the pointy finger appears but when I click I get a pop-up message telling me the file could not be opened.  Also, when I hover over the hyperlink, the address appears.  So, I think it knows there's a link and it tries to open but can't.  When I create the file within Adobe the link works - once.  When I click on the link I get a pop-up window asking me if I want to save my file before closing.  After my response the file closes and the linked file opens.  However, when I go back into the file and try the hyperlink again, I get the pop-up telling me the file cannot be opened.  HELP!  I am at my wits end.  After spending hours yesterday trying to research (I think I read every thread related to hyperlinks but I am not using a Mac, table of contents or Adobe 7 around which it seems all the prior questions revolve) and futily creating and recreating the pdf (as if doing the same thing repeatedly would somehow magically work) I am about to give up.  This is a document that will be published to our intranet for use by employees which cross-references other documents to which they can refer for additional information.  I would prefer to publish a pdf and not a Word document.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for your input Bill. I've checked the preferences and "view large images" is turned on. It's not all of the images which are missing, only certain ones do not transfer over to PDF.

  • How do I create a pdf portfolio from multiple .msg email files including all attachments in a single step process?

I have tried creating the portfolio from Outlook directly, but only the first email is viewable in the portfolio including a hyperlink to the attachment (but the attachment is missing otherwise). This seems to be a setting issue, but I have had no luck with finding any setting options to change this.
I have also tried to create a portfolio from my desktop but when opening the portfolio, nothing shows up as if it didn't take the .msg files.
The obvious option of creating a pdf from each individual email and combining it with the pdf attachment would take forever and is unrealistic as the emails are in thousands.
Thanks for your time and help on this issue!

    Hey Bob%20Sacks,
Could you please specify what version of Acrobat are you using.
You can go to Preferences under Adobe PDF option in the menu bar and choose 'Include all attachments' option under Attachments label.
Then, select the desired messages in Outlook and create a PDF portfolio by right-clicking and choosing Convert to Adobe PDF option from the context menu.
Now, open the portfolio and it will appear as shown in the screenshot below:
You can view all your files by clicking on the navigation arrows on the left-hand side.

  • How can I create a PDF with cad layers visible and switchable?

I am producing CAD drawings in Vectorworks 2013 on a Mac OS X 10.6.8. I can export these as Autocad .dwg files and read them in E-Drawings viewer but do not have Autocad. I want to create a PDF of a drawing for a client to use which will display Vectorworks classes (Autocad layers) and they will be able to turn these classes (layers) on and off. I understand the client has received such files from other parties (probably using Autocad).

    Hi steffenoberlaender,
Could you please let me know what version of Acrobat and MS Office are you using.
Try exporting any other word file to PDF and check if this could be a document specific issue.
If possible, share both the sample word and PDF file with me via email so that I can check at my end.
I have sent you a private message with my contact ID details.

  • Create a pdf from an arabic wiki page

    hello there!
I come across a nasty probleme whil trying to create a pdf from a wikipedia page:
I go to File--> Create PDF --> From web page, then I choose an arabic page (example adobe entry from wiki http://ar.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%B4%D8%B1%D9%83%D8%A9_%D8%A3%D8%AF%D9%88%D8%A8%D9%8A )
the result is a missed up, ther's no arabic text, only latin text appears!
I have installed arabic/hebrew language support to windows from regional settings.
hebrew displays good but arabic not.
I use Acrobat 9 Pro version 9.1.0 on a Windows XP SP3 English.
from some searches on the net i found that i must buy the adobe CS4 Middel east version, and that will be bad to buy two versions of the same product just for one littel thing such as arabic/hebrew .
is there any solution other than this hard choise?
    thank you.

As I said above, non of the adobe cs4 Master Collection supports fully arabic type.
I need to be able to write arabic in Photoshop, indesign, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere..
I taught CS4 will come out with this option of arabic typing included, but I found that you must by another set of Adobe products arabic enables from the Winsoft company.
a temporary solution is to download the arabic trials found here; http://www.winsoft-international.com/en/downloads/trials/ and use them to make the things that you need in arabic, then  delete them and keep using the English CS4.. this is helpful when you have only to work with one project with arabic type, but, this doesn't work, as the trials wil expire and you have to buy licenes again.

  • Create accessible pdf from html pages dynamically

    Hello,
I am trying to create a 508 compliant Pdf from a simple HTML page using the HTML to Pdf feature in Livecycle ES4 server. I was able to configure the service to generate tabbed Pdf, but the created Pdf has multiple accessibility issues.
Some of the issues encountered are:  incorrect tab order,  some links are not tabbable while others are,  link text is being read “Blank”,  some text is skipped while tabbing,  missing alt text for images,  page being rendered in the responsive(mobile) view,  etc.
I have tried both the available approaches, of 1) providing a URL to create the PDF, and 2) to send the html document as a zipped file, with same results.
Attached is a sample PDF generated from a simple HTML page I created for demo.
    My questions are:
Is it possible to generate 508 compliant (accessible) Pdf documents using Html to Pdf service from Pdf Generator? If yes, which settings might I be missing?
Is there any other service provided by Adobe Livecycle Server that can generate 508 compliant Pdf documents from a 508 compliant HTML page?
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Anup

I created a tool that does just that (only you will need to enter the page numbers as text, it does not work by selecting them):

I don't think it's possible to do this using a standard JavaScript script in Acrobat, since the newDoc function doesn't work with URLs.
The only option I can think of is to use an external automator that will call the Create PDF From Web Page dialog, paste the address from a file, and after the PDF file is created will continue to the next line.
I might be able to create such a tool for you. If you're interested, contact me by email (click my username for the address) or PM.
