Create a Project From an Application

I currently have a LabVIEW Realtime application (executable) running on a test system which interacts with a Compact-RIO chassis (FPGA). Unfortunately the project that was used to create all of this is now missing and the original designer is no longer with the company. Is there any way for me to "reverse build" a project from this application?
Basically i want to do the following:
1) make sure that the application is backed up correctly in case it ever needs to be restored in the future. If the computer or compact-RIO chassis ever dies, I will want to restore things to how they are now.
2)I also want to potentially change some things in the current application. Is there a way for me to do this without having the original project?

1) Any configuration files, support directories, etc. that the appliation needs.
2) I would backup the bit file.
3) Only if they named the project and executables the same.
I would recommend looking at the Replication and Deployment utility for making an image of your cRIO and backing it up.

Create a project from list item not working if EPT has Project Plan Template

HI,
i am trying to leverage the new feature in 2013 to create a project from an idea list.
This works fine if the EPT does not have Project Plan template assigned to it. Even through workflow action "Create Project from current list item".
However if i assign a project plan template and the user creating the project  is not Administrators Group member, i get an error. While doing this trough a workflow the worfklow gets suspended and i have the below message:

I think it could help.
I have experienced the same problem as you are, except "Create project" option, my managers could do it.
So, for me a solution was to set definite permissions for Workflow Initiators (I have created new group, but you can edit, including
Global permissions
New project
Open project template
Server configuration management
For category “My organization”
Open Project
Publish Project
Save Project on Project Server
Excuse me my translation, some names can be written not properly, cause I have localized SP.
In you case, I think, you should check, if you PM group has all these permissions.
And Workflow Initiator should be in group which has.
In LOGS error notifications starts with “Permission denied”, then goes account
name and then the name of permission which is left.

BUG: Advanced Actions duplicated when creating NEW PROJECTS FROM TEMPLATE using Adobe Captivate 8.

Need: CREATE NEW PROJECTS FROM TEMPLATE using Adobe Captivate 8.
Problem: NEW PROJECT (.cptx) duplicates the Advanced Actions originally configured within TEMPLATE FILE (.cpt.).
For example: Template file (.cptl) advanced action "_initializeModule" gets duplicated as "_initializeModule1", "_initializeModule2", "_initializeModule3" within NEW PROJECT. FYI, the original "_initializeModule" advanced action still appears.
MAJOR BUG, what the heck is going on?!?!!! Planning to deploy this template file to use for multiple courses with multiple users, this WILL cause epic confusion across the board.

Similar problem, think they are working on it as well: when dragging a shared action from an external library to a slide or object event, and that action is using a parameter that was already created for another shared action, there will be a new parameter created which really screws up the shared action contrary to this problem. Build error when trying to creat the project from inactive DC..

When I am trying to create a project from the inactive DC its giving and error message like build failed.When I switch to webdypro prespective I can see the project created.So please help me out in resolving the issue.

Hi Harish,
Are you able to see the code and the components in the Webdynpro perspective. You can try the different options like Reload, Repair and Refresh.
See in the log why the build is failing.

'Released' System Status in Automatically created PS Project from Cproject

When We create a PS Project automatically from cProject, the Top Level WBS under Project definition is ' Released' Status . But We need it should be 'created' Status. Pls guide me to change this behaviour .

Hi Ramesh,
In the current cProjects application design, nothing exists in standard. You have to create your own implementation, either by enhancing standard accounting class, or your own subsystem to trigger the interface at save.

Cannot create OSB project from Eclipse

I am working with OSB after a while. I have installed OSB and webgic server. When I have installed OSB the Oracle Enterprise pack for Eclipse has been installed.
Now, when I am trying to create an OSB project from Eclipse. But when I am doing File-->New-->OSB Configuration Project, it gives error message:
The selected wizard could not be started.
Plug-in "com.bea.alsb.ui" was unable to instantiate class "com.bea.alsb.ui.wizards.NewALSBContainerWizard".

Do I need to Install anything else?

I resolved this issue. First, I installed WebLogic Server with Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.3) + Coherence + OEPE (dowload here) and then, installed Oracle Service Bus v. 11.1.1.3.0. (download here ).
When install OSB, be sure to select the oepe that is located inside the middleware directory.
Doing these steps, after these installations, on path "Middleware directory/oepe_11gR1PS2" is the eclipse.exe. If you executed this file, it seems that the problem is resolved when try to create an osb project.

Problems while creating a project from a war file...

Hi there, I created a new project in jDev 10.1.3 from a war file that contains a web site that originally ran on TomCat. The problem is that my web.xml file does not contain any information about the servlets that I have in the war file. So when I try running a servlet, I always get an error.
Is there a way to bypass the need to declare every single servlet I have in the web.xml file? If not, are there tools that exist that I could use to do this automatically?

1. Give the fully qualified domain name of the DTR server host in NWDS Preferences->Development Configuration.
2. Check if your WAS and JDI are on a higher SP level. If yes then use the corresponding NWDS.

Create Air Project from Existing Flex web project

LaunchPad rocks! Love the whole concept of using Air apps to supplement the Eclipse-based IDE.
Often I have a need for two versions of the same app in Flash Builder: One web project and one desktop project. It would be great if you can point to an existing Flex web project, and use LaunchPad to create the new air version.
Anyway, PLEASE keep expanding your vision! One day I would love to see a 100% Air app for building Air apps and scrap Eclipse! OK, maybe a little out of scope.

Turn the body of your application into a component and embed an instance of that component in both a Flex and an AIR application.
1. Create a new Library project
2. Set the Library path (e.g. external library references) for the new library project so the match the original project
3. Copy the /src/ from the original project to the new library project
4. Copy the original project's main mxml file to the library src/. Name it as a component (e.g. MyProjectBody)
5. modify the copied mxml file by replacing the <Application> with <Canvas> elements and removing application-specific stuff
6. compile the new library
7. add the new library to the original project's Library Path
8. Modify the original project's main mxml file by _removing_ everything inside the <Application> tags and removing the attributes that set event handlers, etc.
9. Add an instance of the new library's component MyProjectBody (see step 4)
10. Create a new AIR project
11. add the new library to the original project's Library Path
12. Add an instance of the new library's component MyProjectBody (see step 4) to the <WindowedApplication> tag
You can do fun things like create a standard I/O interface and have web and desktop-specific implementations so your main code does not know if it is running in a browser or not.
Desktop drag-and-drop will fire normal DragEvent, etc., but with different payloads. You can have code in the library that handles both kinds of dropping.\

Creating new projects from old ones without deleting the wrong audio files!

We did a piano & vocal recording session recently and recorded about a dozen songs. Voice audio files and midi (pianoteq) for piano. At the moment these are organised into three projects according to genre - classical, showtunes and jazz standards. I now want to get each song into its own separate project but while I need to avoid duplicating too many audio files, I'm also scared to death of deleting anything!
Can someone please walk me through how I do this? I THOUGHT I knew and then a dialogue box (thankfully!!) flashed up saying something like, "Are you sure you want to delete these files they are shared by other projects?"
I basically want to "save as" one of the large projects, rename it according to the song title and then delete the other songs from the Arrange. I thought I could then "select unused" in the Audio Bin and it would be cool because the original audio would be in the old (renamed) project . . . but I seem to have that wrong? Or I've missed a step?

Open the song. Cut the tracks at the appropriate places. Name the newly created regions with the correct song names. Select all the regions and then the command that turns the regions into new individual audio files. After the files are written, go into the audio bin and select unused. Delete unused. Save as (without resources) "Master Song". Then I'd delete all but the first pair of tracks from the arrangement. In the audio bin select unused again then delete. Logic will dump the unused parts out of the audio bin without deleting them from the drive. save as "First song" Re-open the master song and do this again with the second set of tracks.......

Creating DVD Project from Non-Protected DVD

Why would you want to demux already encoded footage and loss a couple of generations of quality?

Creating source project from CHM

Hi,
I am using RH8.02.
My trouble is that I have a CHM file but not the source file,now i have to do some updates in that chm.Can anyone show me the path how i can do it.
I have tried by doing "Convert to Source" file but the result is not exactly same.Is there any simpler way to do it.

Can't create Project from the Template or access project template

Dear Experts,
We are facing a issue while trying to access the project template/create the project from project template.
we have 4 project template in place and of these two are working perfectly fine but
From remaining two we are not being able to create project and even templates are not accesible , whenever we are trying to access the project template system rotates a circle for some time and keeps us on the same page.
Even when we are trying to create project from the same template, system does the same again rotates the circle for some time and keeps us on the same screen.
And System is not throwing any error for the same (we have checked in the log as well) just not letting us in and not allowing us to create project.
Any Help Will be Highly Appreciated.

Dear Experts,
We were able to find out the issue,
We added 3 groups to the template with "Reviewer" access with "Document Only" Type in the project template.
When we changed the type to "Template and Document" from "Document Only" and system started allowing us to create projects from the template.
Can anyone please help me with one query,
Can we add a group(which includes all the buyers) with reviewer access and with Document only type?
Does this really be a reason behind projects are not getting created from template?
Any help will be appreciated

I'm getting an error when i try to create a project from template. It's the same error no matter which template i select.

Create project from template failed with "badly formed pathname" error message

Hi,
I am trying to create a project from a custom template, but I am getting the following error message prompt:
LabWindows/CVI could not create
Test_Project
because of an error: Badly formed pathname
However, when I checked the target project directory, I see the project files are copied correctly. I don't know if there is something missing from our custom templates? Of, if there is something wrong with our custom template?
I am using LabWindows/9.0

Hi Peggy,
Did I understand you correctly that the files for the new project appear to have been created, but the error dialog still shows? In addition to Wolfgang's suggestions, take a look at the help section on New Project and File Templates. This describes everything that should be needed to create a custom template. Also, try to create a new, very basic custom template and make sure that you can use it successfully. If you can, start adding in the functionality of the original template, and test along the way. Hopefully either this new one will work once you finish, or you will see at which point it is breaking, and we can debug from there.
