Create a Type in a Package

Question

Hi,
my problem is to use a type, defined in the "spec" package, using this new type as the result of a function, defined it-self in the same "spec" function.
The error returned is :
Error(1): ORA-06552: PL/SQL: Compilation unit analysis terminated ORA-06553: PLS-320: the declaration of the type of this expression is incomplete or malformed
My code is the following:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE user.PKG_test
AS
     TYPE tp_period IS RECORD (start_period_date DATE, end_period_date DATE);**
     FUNCTION f_get_period_complex ( single_a date, single_b date ) RETURN tp_period;**
END;

You code (without the **'s or "user.") works fine for me in Oracle 11.1.0.6.0.
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE PKG_test
AS
TYPE tp_period IS RECORD (start_period_date DATE, end_period_date DATE);
FUNCTION f_get_period_complex ( single_a date, single_b date ) RETURN tp_period;
END;
SHOW ERRORSWhat are you doing differently? is it just giving the package owner name? I assume USER (which is not a very good name, since it is identical to the name of a built-in function) is not the real user name. Post exactly what you are running.
