Create a validation that runs when a button is pressed

Hi good people from this forum, I was wondering if it's possible to create a validation that runs when a button is pressed.
I'm using Oracle Apex 4.2.2 with Oracle Apex Listener 2.0 and Oracle Database XE 11g

You can create a validation and give it's condition like 'When Button Pressed' and select a button name or select the Condition Type as 'Request=Expression1' and give request(button name) in Expression1.

According to me, for code behind stuff
Create master page(using module etc..), have the required placeholders in it.
Then, create a page that inherit from this master page, now you can use that placeholder in you page.
Lastly, place web parts in that placeholder. So, code behind will come with that master page .

Creating a job that runs a Tcl script

Hi,
We currently have a scheduled job running a Tcl script on a 8.1.7 DB. My question is, can I still use the same setup in 10g DB (i.e. creating a job that runs Tcl script)? If I can, how am I gonna do it?

It depends on how you scheduled the job in 8.1.7 DB.
By Cronjob? Yes you can do the same to connect to 10g
By DBMS_JOB?. Yes you can do it in 10g and in addition, can improve it with DBMS_SCHEDULER
Via OEM? Yes in can use Enterprise Manager to create a Job that runs the Script.

Is there a standard script that runs when a projector stops?

I know there are a couple of scripts I can use to set things up when starting a Director movie (startMovie and PrepareMovie). But are there also scripts I can use that run when the user chooses to shut down a projector? I want to run a script that sets the user's screen rez back to its original setting before shutting the projector down.

Yes, I am looking at that one. But isn't that script activated each time a .dir movie is exited, even if it opens a different .dir movie? Or, is it only activated when the 'PROJECTOR stops?
The script I want to run should only run when you exit the projector.

There are several apps in the App Store. Look at them to see what might meet your needs. There is a keynote app that might be best for you.

Changing Navigation when cancel button is pressed

Hello All,
We are having custom responsibility for Offer and vacancy creation. New Menu of type(App Pref Menu Container) is created and the required functions and sub menus are attached to it. This was done earlier by someone else. Now when ever i start a transaction (i.e. create offer) and then cancel it, it goes to the custom home page of that responsibility. Now i want to change the navigation page when cancel button is pressed. I believe it was achieved through menu only. Can anyone suggest how?

If a user is halfway ....Look at it this way...Various wizard pages insert rows into various tables. Mark all of them (or some appropriate "master" record) with a "Pending" flag.
Pressing Cancel is nothing special, just like closing your browser window, the Pending data would continue to hang around.
You could set up background jobs that purge pending data older than N days or something if you like.
What I was suggesting was that the "start wizard" button/process should first delete all these Pending rows before starting its real work.

I was trying to add a check box dynamically when a button is pressed.
The check box contains title and a textbox for the user to enter data.
For example , when the user hits addnew button , a new check box (title-name)
with a textbox for entering name should appear on the form.

Matchcode in OO (call the search help when the button is pressed )

Hi Guys,
I'm using the class cl_dd_document in order to fill a form that contains a input element (cl_dd_input_element) and a button element (cl_dd_button_element).
What I need to do now is to simulate (or build) a matchcode for the button.
For example, the input field is for entering the name of a table, and with the button i want to show all the tables that are elegibles for that field.
Any suggestion?

Detect when a button is pressed for more than a certain period of time

How do I detect if a button is pressed for more than a certain amount of time? E.g. if you press on the delete button on the dialer and hold it there, it continues to delete. Or if you hold down the .com button for more than a sec, it changes to .net and so forth.

Start a timer when the button is pressed. Reset the timer when the button is released. If the timer expires before being reset then you know the button has been held down at least as long as the timer was set for.

When I press the home page the screen activates but stays black. I have to press the side button to turn if off then may have to repeat several times to get my phone to come on. Sometimes while using the phone the screen will become pixelly and start to fade away leaving a white screen with vertical line on it. I have to use the close button to make it go away.

So far is everything clear to me. But what I want to do now
is that after a user clicks on title, next happens:
the current swf unloads
the flash sends data to asp (ID of an article and ID of an
author, which movie to load next).
How do create a title/button?I know how to make a title to

2m, you are right. I should tell you about my concept. It's
all on the paper yet, because this is how I work - first I write
down everything on paper, study it and the next step in trying to
make it work on computer.
I have a main swf, I call it system.swf. System.swf receives
the info about the swfs, it must be loaded from html tag
<object><param>. The ID of the movies is send from
flash to asp and then via <object>back to flash. Does that
make sense? Is there a better way for that?
So, the system.swf is loaded for the whole time - let's say
it on level1. On level 2 are then loaded other swfs.It depends
which content the user wants to see.
About the article part:
first the user sees the list of last articles (title, date
and short description). When he/she clicks on the title, all the
action happens:
flash sends the data which article the user wants to read to
asp, asp searches in data base for the requested article and
creates xml, where are title, date and the whole content of the
article.
At the same time asp also sends via <object>tag in html
the id of the swf that must be loaded and the id of the author of
the article, so the swf, where the pictures of the all authors are,
will know what picute must load (this is the second swf that is
loaded on the article part - it's created like a gallery; the
author of the active article is bigger and if the user wants to
read the last article of other author, he/she just closes the
picture and then the images are moving in a slider way and when
he/she clicks on an image, it get larger and the last artcle of
this author is loaded).
And I wonder how can I make this all to happen: when the user
clicks on a title, all the var action happens?
If you have better idea how to create this, please, advice.

XML Publisher does not create a valid XML file when I try to 'generate '

I am working through an Oracle document that walks you through creating an XML Pub report. I am using HCM 8.9, Tools 8.49.15 and it has XML Pub installed and I have the Microsoft plug-in installed
I have created a query and have downloaded an rtf template and now am on a page where you enter your data source and then click ‘Generate’ for the sample data file. I did it and it created ‘PERSONAL_DATA_PAY.XML’ which is created from a PS Query. However if I click on ‘PERSONAL_DATA_PAY.XML’ it generates a blocky text file that is not an XML file and I can’t go any further.
Do you know why it’s not generating a valid XML file when I click on 'generate'?

How to create pl/sql that run efficiently in background ?

Hi sql gurus,
We have application on Oracle 10g where 150+users (from multiple branch) concurrently input transaction. The transaction number is centralized, means all user use same transaction number counter.
To avoid the contention that occured, we think of using pl/sql procedure that run in background to do :
- select transaction that not yet has number
- query the last transaction number counter(a column in a table), increment by 1, update the transaction with the number
- commit
- process another transaction
What is the best approach to do this ?
(means a pl/sql that does not cause high CPU utilization, because it will run all day long)

Why can't you give them a number upon creationCurrently we doit this way, and this cause contention. thats why we think of separate the numbering process.
Fyi we donot use Sequence ( for gapless numbering).
We maintain the number counter in a column in a separate table. It is the update to this table that cause contention.
Oracle sequences are typically used for meaningless number generation. Yes, We dont use sequence.

iDVD - don't care about GBs - ONLY - Time = Movie + Menus - as follows
iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1) and iDVD 6 has the two last ones
• Professional Quality
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST (but not always for short movies e.g. up to 45 minutes in total)
• Best Performances
(movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD (Can be best for short movies)
• High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6)
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
Menu can take 15 minutes or even more - I use a very simple one with no audio or animation like ”Brushed Metal” in old Themes.
About double on DL DVDs.
If You NEED to put in more than 120 minutes onto a SL DVD - Then I would use Roxio Toast™ as this can squees in between 7 to 10 hours onto this - BUT AT A BARELY USABLY QUALITY.
VHS tapes recorded in EP- mode will look brilliant in comparision
Just as info:
SP = 240 minutes on a standard VHS tape
LP = 480 minutes
EP = 720 or more ?
