Exception handling in ODI - common exception handling framework

Hi,
I need to come up with a common exception handling framework in an environment where ESB and ODI are being used for interfacing and ELT operations. I am of the opinion that
1. I am not able to find any documentation wrt exception handling when ODI is used? Can some one help me with some pointers?
2, When I come up with a common exception handling framework using BPEL, will I be able to invoke the same from ODI.

I did go through this thread before and here's my understanding.
1. ESB provides the ability of error handling (client management API) but not the exception handling i.e. I can't redirect the flow in case there is an exception in my primary flow. Am I right with my understanding?
2. Error handling ability of ESB is limited to retryable exceptions viz-a-viz asynchrounous ESB processes (e.g. database listener not up) where in the process can be retried. Am I right here?

1. A generic exception handling framework can be built using BPEL and can be invoked from ESB. Is my understanding correct?
2. Are there any ways that we can build this framework using ESB itself? I opinion that it's not possible as there is no concept of try-catch?

Error 1064 An exception occurred in the service when handling the control

Hi all,
I downloaded Oracle Business Intelligence 10.1.3.4.1 on windows XP successfully, once I try to start any service of Oracle BI [scheduler/server]. This error is shown *1064 An exception occurred in the service when handling the control request*.
Could anyone help me out?

Best way to handle any knid of exception

Hi Experts,
What is the best way to handle any kind of Exceptions across the layer and show a user friendly error message, for eg the JBO 2900, which is an unexpected error. There is no clue as to this error happens at which layer so how an we handle these kind of exceptions ?

An exception of class nilobjectexception was not handled (Photoreflect)

Trying to download photos via Photoreflect.com photo publisher. As soon as I get ready to add photos to a gallery I get a pop up "An exception of class nilobjectexception was not handled. The application must shut down." Tried restart of the computer. Uninstalled and reinstalled the publisher, deleted the Pub data settings file. Still won't work. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

After updating to Mavericks 10.9.2, our Canon printer would no longer scan & send to our iMacs & MacBook Pros. We downloaded & installed SMBUp. Still trying to get it to work with MacBookPros, but has been working with iMacs. Today, out of the blue, I got the following error message:

Now I get that message every time I try to open SMBUp. Tried to download & reinstall application, but get this message on website:

The servers that run eduo.info are having some trouble. This is usually just a tempoary problem, so you might want to try again in a few minutes.

I am currently working with IBM on a similar problem with WAS 5.1 and SQL Server 2000. The SQLException has a nested exception that can be retrieved using the getNextException() method. This will give you some more information as to what is causing the problem. Ours seems to be triggered by a dropped connection at the SQL end. normally WAS will recover from that gracefully, but in our situation it is not.

Need to Turn it OFF the Notification used by the AIA Common Error Handler.

Hi All,
My requirement is to turn it off the Notifcation send by the AIA common Error Handler, when the error occurs in the AIA ecosystem.
Error Handling framework given by AIA does the Notification and Logging feature. In my case I need only the logging, but not the Notification. Notification has to be turned off for a time and has to be turned on when it is required.
1) I can acheive this by removeing the email account file (ie. ns_email.xml) from the server directory and can be replaced at the time when required,but this needs the restart of the Server.
Any Idea how to turn it off the notification and turn it on when required ?

Thanks for your reply.
Is there any way to turn it off the Notification, because if we retire the ReadJMSNotification Service all the error message are stayed in the Topic and we have to manually drain the message from topic.
And one more thing is how the error messages are published to that AIA.AIA_Error_Topic.

Handling of multiple view in spring framework

Hi,
I just wanted to know that how can i handle control on view in spring framework as we handle in struts.
For e.g.
In struts when action servlet needs to find next view it looks for <forward> in struts-config.xml , how can i achieve same thing in Spring..

Resteasy in-built exceptions not caught in the exception mapper

Hi friends,
I have written some exception mappers to catch and handle the in-built rest easy exceptions like NotFoundException,MethodNotAllowedException, etc., Sample code as shown:

public class NotFoundExceptionMapper implements ExceptionMapper<org.jboss.resteasy.spi.NotFoundExc eption>
@Override
Response toResponse(org.jboss.resteasy.spi.NotFoundExceptio n exception) {
return Response.status(500).build();
I have also written a try catch block in my web filter class. Whenever a NotFoundException occurs, it is not caught in the mapper, but it goes to the catch block in the Filter.
Whereas I have tried another exception mapper class to handle JsonParsingException. This is working correctly and giving a proper response from the mapper whenever a Json Parse exception occurs.
The issue is only with the case of resteasy inbuilt exceptions.
Also, the Provider has been registered in the application context using the include-filter tag inside component scan.
Is there any additional configuration to be done for this?
Please guide me as to what needs to be done to catch rest easy in-built exceptions in the mapper class itself.

ORAMED-03302:[Exception in oneway execution]Unexpected exception in oneway

Hi,
I have a composite which looks like below.
JMS Adapter -------> Mediator -------> WebService
The JMS adapter will get a payload from a queue and push the same to the given webservice through mediator.
My Problem here starts when the given webservice is not available. The composite gets strucked when the endpoint is not available throwing me the below fault
Non Recoverable System Fault :
*ORAMED-03302:[Exception in oneway execution]Unexpected exception in oneway operation "CreateExceptionLog" on reference "ExceptionLogger1".Possible Fix:Check whether the reference service is properly configured and running or look at exception for analysing the reason or contact oracle support. Cause:Unable to access the following endpoint(s): http://10.103.96.161:8088/mockExceptionEventSOAP11Binding*
I thought of implementing retry logic through Fault Policies. But it is not working. I need to configure in such a way that the composite should retry to push the payload till the webservice comes ON(if fails human intervention should be made).
How can i achieve this ?? Isnt possible to handle exception in mediator level??

SQL Exception with the message "executeQuery, Exception = null"

Hi ,

Im working on performing a new query when a user changes the value of a text item and then keys to the next item.
Its very much in experimental stage atm but this is the code:

When I run this in debugger the following warning is displayed, when I reach the line "enter_query":

I have searched around but found nothing regarding this error message. Am I making a fundemental error here?

Hi,
I think you are trying to test the Hello world EJB example shipped with the product. As a first
step I would recomend you to go through every line of the document on deploying this application,
since, I too have experienced many errors while trying to deploy the sample applications, but on
following the documentation, I subsequently overcame all the errors and have been working with the
applications. So please follow the steps in documentation and let me know, if you still encounter any
issues.
