Create a view or a snapshot order by a column in Oracle 8.0.5 Urgent Help

Hi to all, i4m using Oracle 8.0.5 in NT. My questions is:
how can i create a view or a snapshot order by a column from one
of my tables?
i need this because i have a client aplication that shows the
data of my table in a grid control. That grid as an order by
default (one of the columns).
Because i4m working with 8.000.000 records i dont want to get
all the data from the database, i just want to read 70 lines
from my tables and show it in my grid.
To acomplish that i4m going to use the DBMS_ROWID pakage to
access that 70 lines, but i have to create something in my
database that is ordered by the order condition in the client
and reflects the data in my table
thanks for your help
Cristovao

I think that the best thing you could do, although it would only
work if you can modify the query itself, is to use an index to
get the correct order.
You do this by putting a single index on the column or
columns that you want to order by, and putting an optimizer
hint in the query to tell Oracle to access the table by a scan
of the index.
for a table MY_TABLE with index MY_INDEX the syntax
would be something like ...
select /*+ index_asc(MY_TABLE MY_INDEX) */ col1, col2 ...
... but don't put an order by clause on the query. you can limit
the number of rows returned by adding the predicate ...
and rownum <= 70

  • CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON / SNAPSHOT LOG ON

    HI,
Is there any difference between create materialized view log on and creat snapshot on.
Did some googling, found out that: A snapshot log is a table associated with
the master table of a snapshot and Is used for refresh the master table\'s snapshots.
Materialized view log is a table associated with the master table of a materialized view. Seem like the same.
By the way, are these tables important? Will my database function as normal without these view log.
    regards,
    becks

Where did you pick up this syntax from ?
The MV Log that will be created on DOCUMENT will be called MLOG$_DOCUMENT.
So, the correct syntax is :
create materialized view log on DOCUMENT with primary key;this will create a "table" called MLOG$_DOCUMENT which serves as the Materialized View Log on the real table called DOCUMENT. This will allow you to create one or more Materialized Views based on DOCUMENT, which can be fast refreshed because of the presence of the MV Log. For example :
create materialized view MV_DOCUMENT refresh fast on demand as select DOC_ID, DOC_DATE from DOCUMENT;(i.e. assuming you want an MV that has only two columns from the table DOCUMENT.

  • Reg creating Catalog Views through R/3

    Hi Guys,
I am working on an internet sales application with backend as SAP R/3 ECC 6.0. We are not supposed to use CRM. Can someone tell me how to create them?
I have to create Catalog Views. I tried to acess the SAP Note 998453 and 998458, but i am getting the message "The requested SAP Note is either in reworking or is released internally only". Can someone tell me how to access these notes.
I have also gone through the SAP Notes : 696095, 677319, 677320 but couldn't find much help.
What is a BP or a target group?
I have gone through the the following sdn link also but couln't find much help.
    Creating Catalog Views
Can someone provide me the step by step process.
Any kind of help will be deeply appreciated. Please do reply.
    Thanks,
    Ibrahim

    Hi Ibrahim,
I understand your requirement is slightly different than ours.
Based on the customer type (let's say: gold and silver) the catalog view should be displayed, right?
The question is: how do you match a material with the customer type? Let's say you have 20 materials in the catalog, how do you know what materials can be displayed, and what not? In order to do so, you will need to put a "label" on every material.
The option we choose for this is using attributes.
trx. CT04 - define the attributes (1 attribute, with 2 values 'gold'  and 'silver')
trx. CL02 - create a class (of type 001 - material class). The class is only used as a dummy, so you can attach the attributes to it.
Now add the attributes to the class.
Now, for every material you maintain the class (dummy) and the attribute (gold or silver).
    Mat 1    gold
    mat 2    gold
    mat 3    silver
    mat 4     silver
Now, with the coding I gave to you, the product catalog is replicated to TREX. Every material is given a label "VIEWS_ID", which is filled with value "gold" or "silver".
Now, when the customer logs on to the webshop, it's checked what customer type he is (gold or silver). Let's say it's gold, then from all materials, the VIEWS_ID is read, and materials with a matching VIEWS_ID (gold) are shown to the customers. So material 1 and 2 are shown, 3 and 4 are hidden.
In case you have a catalog with a large structure, you might want to show also a limited piece of the catalog structure to the customer. In that case, you do the same for catalog branches, with classification type 060 layout areas.
    Hope this helps you out.
    regards,
    Wim

  • Create a new field in sales order

HI folks i want to create a new field in sales order item level how can i create

    Hi,
    Hope this will help you,
    User exits in the screens
Additional header data is on screen SAPMV45A 0309, additional item data on screen SAPMV45A 0459. These screens contain the Include screens SAPMV45A 8309 or SAPMV45A 8459 as user exits.
Fields which are also to be included in the sales document for a specific installation should be included on the Include screens for maintaining. If an application-specific check module is needed for the fields, this can be included in the Include MV45AIZZ. The module is called up in the processing logic of the Include screens.
For field transports, you do not have to make changes or adjustments.
    Example
A new field, VBAK-ZZKUN, should be included in table VBAK.
If the check is defined via the Dictionary (fixed values or check table) the field must be included with the fullscreen editor in the Include screen SAPMV45A 8309. In this case, no change has to be made to the processing logic.

  • How to create dynamics columns in oracle query1.

    hi,
how to create dynamics columns in oracle query.its very urgent.
    regards
    prasad..

    Urgent is it?
Why? Have you forgotten to do your coursework and you'll get thrown off your course if you don't hand it in today?
What makes you believe that your request for help is more important than someone else who has requested help? It's very rude to assume you are more important than somebody else, and I'm sure they would like an answer to their issue as soon as they can get one too, but they've generally been polite and not demanded that it is urgent.
Also, you assume that people giving answers are all sitting here just waiting to answer your question for you. That's not so. We're all volunteers with our own jobs to do. How dare you presume to demand our attention with urgency.
If you want help and you want it answering quickly you simply just put your issue forward and provide as much valuable information as possible.
Looking at your post you haven't told us what database version you are using, you haven't provided any create table DDL's and insert statements to populate that with sample data, and you haven't even shown us that you've had a go at doing something yourself.
You will find if you post on here demanding your post is urgent then most people will just ignore it, some will tell you to get lost, and some will explain to you why you shouldn't post "urgent" requests. Occasionally you may find somebody who's got nothing better to do who will actually provide you with an answer, but you really are limiting your options by not asking properly.

  • Creating a view with order by condition

    Hi all.
    I'm on db 11g.
I have a doubt: is it possible to create a view using both group by and order by conditions?
    It is like this:
    create or replace view some_view
    as select col1,col2,col3, sum(col4),sum(col5)
    from table_name
    where.....
    group by col1, col2, col3
order by col1, col2;The problem is that if I put order by conditions it gives me error; if I write those statements without order by condition everything is ok.
    Someone can help me?
    Thanks for collaboration,

Restrictions on the Defining Query of a View The view query is subject to the following restrictions:
    * The subquery cannot select the CURRVAL or NEXTVAL pseudocolumns.
    * If the subquery selects the ROWID, ROWNUM, or LEVEL pseudocolumns, then those columns must have aliases in the view subquery.
    * If the subquery uses an asterisk (*) to select all columns of a table, and you later add new columns to the table, then the view will not contain those columns until you re-create the view by issuing a CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW statement.
    * For object views, the number of elements in the subquery select list must be the same as the number of top-level attributes for the object type. The datatype of each of the selecting elements must be the same as the corresponding top-level attribute.
    * You cannot specify the SAMPLE clause.
    * You cannot specify the ORDER BY clause in the subquery if you also specify the subquery_restriction_clause.

  • How to create a view consisting of data from tables in2 different databases

    Using Oracle 10.2g
I have 2 databases Gus and haggis on Comqdhb schema.
glink indicates a databse link between Haggis and Gus
In Gus there are tables student, subject, grade, school containing columns like upn...
    STUDENT
    upn
    academicYear
    SUBJECT
    subject
    GRADE
    examlevel
    grade
    SCHOOL
    sn
In HAGGIS there are tables student, grade, teacher containing columns upn...desc below.
    STUDENT
    upn
    GRADE
    grade
    upn
    academicyear
    level
Create view in your HAGGIS database which will join all of the exam grades together. You should have one view which will produce the following relation :
    examGrade(upn, subject, examlevel, sn, grade,academicYear)
so I need to create a view which gets the data from both the tables in both the databases.
create view as examGrade(upn, subject, examlevel, sn, grade, academicYear) as select s.upn
But i am not getting how to select a column from 2 tables in different databases
    I mean if i said
    select upn from comqdhb.student@glink,comqdhb.student;
    select upn from comqdhb.student@glink,comqdhb.student
    ERROR at line 1:

    help me out,Thank you.

Thank you for the reply will follow up the code format
Create views in your HAGGIS schema database which will join all of the exam grades together. You should have one view which will produce the following relation :
    examGrade(upn, subject, examlevel, sn, grade,academicYear)
I understand that there wont be duplication when we use conditions
    If i query
    select count(upn)
    from   comqdhb.student@glink I get 9000
    but after the union
create view examGrade(upn, subject, examlevel, sn, grade, academicYear)

Another problem i am having which i am trying to solve and written up my ideas but haven't been getting the expected results.Hope you can help.Thank you.
    Information:
    =======
All children take exams at the age of 16 called a General Certificate of SecondaryEducation (GCSE).
They have to study and take exams in Mathematics, English and Science, and can take other subjects such as History, French, Art etc. Most students will study between 5 and 10 different subjects before taking their GCSEs.
For each exam, a student is awarded a grade from A*, A, B,C,D,E,F,G,U,X An A* grade is the best grade achievable and an X is the worst grade.
In order to analyze how students have performed, each grade is mapped to a numeric value as follows:
    Grade Numerical score
    A* 8
    A 7
    B 6
    C 5
    D 4
    E 3
    F 2
    G 1
    U 0
    X 0
Now why i need this avgGCSE is because i have to create a view containing avgGCSE of the students it is used in the next question where a condition is avgGCSE is between 6.5 and 7
In order to calculate the avgGCSE the idea is to calculate the grades of the students and map the grades to their corresponding scores/values
add them all up and div by the total no of grades to get the avg.

I have a opinion that xgcse in STUDENT table refers to the avgGCSE which i want to calculate as when i asked my professor as to what xgcse he said that he forgot to take it out of the table and it is not necessary while creating avggcse.
    select *
    from comqdhb.student@glink
    where xgcse<6.5; Displaying a result
    returns:

    select *
    from comqdhb.student@glink
where xgcse between 6.5 and 7 and upn = 1386; Displaying a result
    returns:

    ===========================================================================
1386 STEPHANIE AANNESSON 15-JAN-79 f none 6.88873 2 2 so if xgcse is the avgGCSE then upn 1011 has avggcse<6.5 and 1386 has avggcse >6.5
my idea was backward strategy like so now if we find out upn 1368 has suppose xgcse(avggcse)>6.5 how to extract the avggcse for the particular upn We need to map grades from GRADEVALUES to grade in STUDENTINGROUP and map upn from studentingroup to upn in student to output the values for the corresponding grades from GRADEVALUES
    select grade
    from comqdhb.studentingroup@glink
    where upn = 1011;
    Result:

    E
    B
8 rows selected. Mapping each grade to the corresponding value and calculating we get
    32/8=4 total(values to corresponding grades)/no of grades.
But the xgcse for upn 1011 is 3.935 and i am getting 4!! maybe xgcse isn't avggrade but ? is the procedure by me correct for calculating avggcse
    select grade

  • Creating Materialized View in Toad

As with every new endeavor - come new questions.
I am trying to create a materialized view via toad (first time doing this). Now - toad is great, since it provides a kind-of wizard interface. Hence, one doesn't have to completely code in the create statement, with all of the options, etc.
Instead, in toad, one can (via the schema browser), go into the Materialized Views tab and click on create new. This opens a window with 6 tabs: Basic Info, Refresh Info, Physical Attributes, Query, Partitions & Subpartition Template.
In the Basic Info, one can put a check mark next to some of the following options:
    -Build Deffered
    -Parallel
    -Cache
    -Logging
    -Using index
    -Allow updates
    etc.
I have read that build deferred refers to whether or not you would like the view to be created automatically or to be deferred.
Anyways, I tried to find Toad documentation to explain each of the options in-detail. No success. Hence, am researching each part piece by piece.
But - here is my question:
In the Query tab, we are asked to specify a query. I am assuming that the query does not have to be a full query, beginning with CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW mv_table1 REFRESH FAST etc...
Since in this 'wizard', we are providing the MV name at the top of the dialog box, we are checking the 'options' in the other tabs, etc.
And so, I assumed that the query should merely be a select query in the window mentioned above.
    So I entered the following:
    select * from table1@remote_db;
When I go to verify the syntax, I get the error message: ORA_00911: invalid character. It seems to be pointing to my db_link (remote_db). I have been using this link throughout many places, w/o any problems.
Has anyone created a MV in toad before? Any links to good toad documentation would be helpful as well.
    Thanks.

    (This is fun... ;))
For anyone endeavoring this in the future, below I have attached the prerequisites required in order to create a materialized view (can also be found @ http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10759/statements_6002.htm):
    Prerequisites
The privileges required to create a materialized view should be granted directly rather than through a role.
To create a materialized view in your own schema:
You must have been granted the CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW system privilege and either the CREATE TABLE or CREATE ANY TABLE system privilege.
You must also have access to any master tables of the materialized view that you do not own, either through a SELECT object privilege on each of the tables or through the SELECT ANY TABLE system privilege.
To create a materialized view in another user's schema:
You must have the CREATE ANY MATERIALIZED VIEW system privilege.
The owner of the materialized view must have the CREATE TABLE system privilege. The owner must also have access to any master tables of the materialized view that the schema owner does not own (for example, if the master tables are on a remote database) and to any materialized view logs defined on those master tables, either through a SELECT object privilege on each of the tables or through the SELECT ANY TABLE system privilege.
To create a refresh-on-commit materialized view (ON COMMIT REFRESH clause), in addition to the preceding privileges, you must have the ON COMMIT REFRESH object privilege on any master tables that you do not own or you must have the ON COMMIT REFRESH system privilege.
To create the materialized view with query rewrite enabled, in addition to the preceding privileges:
If the schema owner does not own the master tables, then the schema owner must have the GLOBAL QUERY REWRITE privilege or the QUERY REWRITE object privilege on each table outside the schema.
If you are defining the materialized view on a prebuilt container (ON PREBUILT TABLE clause), then you must have the SELECT privilege WITH GRANT OPTION on the container table.
The user whose schema contains the materialized view must have sufficient quota in the target tablespace to store the master table and index of the materialized view or must have the UNLIMITED TABLESPACE system privilege.
When you create a materialized view, Oracle Database creates one internal table and at least one index, and may create one view, all in the schema of the materialized view. Oracle Database uses these objects to maintain the materialized view data. You must have the privileges necessary to create these objects.

  • Create a view to shows data from multiple rows in a single column

Hi all - this is probably posted in the wrong forum but I couldn't find which was the correct one.
I am almost a complete novice at sql but I have a need to create a view which can be developed at 10g (which runs efficiently as the volumes are likely to be high) which will do the following.
Original table with columns Parent_code, Child_code
    Parent_Code Child_Code
    1000 2000
    1000 3000
    1000 4000
    2000 3000
    2000 5000
(note Parents can have multiple children and a child can have multiple parents!)
What I need to end up with in my view is the following
    Child_Code Parent_List
    2000 '1000 (3)'
    3000 '1000 (3), 2000 (2)'
    4000 '1000 (3)'
    5000 '2000 (2)'
Note the number in parantheses is the number of children that the parent has - ie in the original table parent 1000 has 3 rows (one for each child)
This view is then to be used as a look up (on child code) for a business objects report.
Is there anyone who could PLEASE, PLEASE help me fairly quickly on this as I have very little time to find a solution?

    Hi,
You can test these ones :
    select child_code
         , ltrim(sys_connect_by_path(parent_info,', '), ', ') as parent_list
    from (
      select child_code
           , to_char(parent_code) ||
             ' (' ||
             count(*) over(partition by parent_code) ||
             ')' as parent_info
           , row_number() over(partition by child_code order by parent_code) rn
      from your_table
    where connect_by_isleaf = 1
connect by prior rn = rn-1
           and prior child_code = child_code
    start with rn = 1
    select child_code,
           rtrim(
             extract(
               xmlagg(xmlelement("e",parent_info||', ') order by parent_info)
             , '//text()'
           ) as parent_list
    from (
      select child_code,
             to_char(parent_code) ||
             ' (' ||
             count(*) over(partition by parent_code) ||
             ')' as parent_info
      from your_table
    group by child_code
;What you need is called "string aggregation".
See here for various techniques, including the two above : http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/misc/StringAggregationTechniques.php

  • How to create a view in COMMPR01

    Hi Gurus,
I have a few attributes that needs to be displayed in a seperate view in COMMPR01 (Similar to SAP BAsic Data, Sales & Distribution etc).
How can I create this view?
Any pointers would be of great help.
    Regards,
    Kris.

    Hi Kris,
In order to define a view, go to the following path in IMG:
    - IMG->Cross application components->SAP Products->Settings for Product Maintenance->Define View, here you define your view.
    - Next step, while assigning the set types to category in transaction COMM_HIERARCHY, go to your category data, in the tabpage Settype, while adding your settype, give the Positon and View ID (Created in the previous step)
This will create a view in your product.
    Hope this helps you
    regards

  • Create a view in SharePoint UI to paginate through data on a large list.

Some of my users are facing a usability issue with SharePoint.
The problem seems to be that if a list exceeds the threshold. SharePoint gives them the error ... but doesn't allow them to fix it.
So when the list threshold is exceeded... the user cannot go into the list at all to create a view or to delete old records.
They must call in the system administrator who can open bigger lists... but in large companies system administrators are not easily accessible.
How can user fix the problem himself/herself in case the threshold has increased?
The second issue is that I want to create a view on a large list that shows 50 items at a time. I don't want to filter (like year = 2013 or age < 10) I don't want to filter but I want to reduce the number of records fetched by means of pagination. Is
this possible on a large list. (I found many blogs on the web with people using XSLT web part and DVWP..... but none of them work when the list has exceeded threshold). I want a very simple view on the list which takes only 50 items at a time and works with
    large lists.
    val it: unit=()

In order to handle large lists (over 5000 items) you need to select the fields that you what to show in the view and set them as indexes , you can do it through list settings-> set indexes.
it might be a problem in an allready large list 'but in a small one - its pretty quick.
and to create a view'and set the pagination there - use the create view of the list itself and not a dataview webpart or other tool.
I have tested it in a project of mine in a list of 15000 records and it works , although you can not filter and sort on the view itself but on the view definitions only.
if the list is bigger then 20000 items - > it is most desireable not to use sharepoint .
