Create an IM client in Adobe Air
how to create an IM client in Adobe Air using Xiff AS3 library?
Problem is if i define internal table under code initialization of interface it does not come in the Form ...
Please tell me how to define internal table so that it can appear in Form as well.
I simply wants to display records of KNA1...Suggest whatever way you know..

How would I create a Barcode Generator in Adobe AIR
I have an app I've been creating in Adobe AIR and it requires the ability to generate barcodes for member cards. What would be the easiest way to go about this? Open Office can generate barcodes using an extension but I don't believe it would be possible to open it in AIR and create a list of barcodes. I'm looking for a way to do this using an open source technology if possible something that doesn't necessarily have to be installed if possible since I'd like this app to be completely self contained if possible.
Thanks
MartyYou could try this:
http://www.atalasoft.com/cs/blogs/loufranco/archive/2008/04/25/writing-code-39-barcodes-wi th-javascript.aspx
I will be implementing it into a membership program in an air app I'm writing. I'm partial to html/js, so this will be my stop-gap solution for now. Good luck! -
This is what comes up when I am trying to install Adobe AIR on my Mac OS 10.8.5 with Cricut Craft Room in the terminal.
Hi Chris,
I've been reading and trying everything! Ok so this is what I had on my Mac:
Bamboo
Core Essentials Painter 4
Cricut Craft room
* will be adding Adobe Photoshop Essentials 11 next month also.
When I tried install the Cricut Sync (to sync my Gypsy to the Mac) that's when it asked for Adobe AIR installation. I can see the AIR installer in my applications/utilities, but it will not let me run the program.
Here is the installer log:

Can This Be Done With Adobe Air?
Mourning,
I would like to create a desktop application with Adobe Air for the following purpose:
http://templatic.com/demos/realestate/?page=property_submit
That template requires its' users to post properties via that link.
Instead of going to the link to post a property is it possible to create an Adobe Air application that can have the same results?
Any ideas??You mean using data from the server? Flash, and Flex, run
client side, but
can pull data from a server - and make a graph. I don't know
Flex, but it
wouldn't be too hard in Flash. AS3 is better for outputting
as a JPEG, but
it can be done in AS2 as well.
There are many tutorials for loading data into Flash, just
Google things
like 'Flash XML' or 'Flash Database'. I'd also recommend
looking at AMFPHP
http://www.amfphp.org/) an
alternative to Flash remoting that makes calling
server-side functions, and passing data, a snap.
For image export, search on 'Flash image output' - here's one
to get you
going:

Installing Adobe AIR on Windows XP Embedded
Hello,
I'm working at a museum using kiosk type clients running Adobe AIR. One type of thin clients we're using is running Windows XP Embedded. I've tried installing standard Adobe AIR on it via web, but it keeps failing. Is there some way to get Adobe AIR up and running on the Embedded version of XP?Any official word on this? It seems Flash Player is supported

Hi,
I'm new to Adobe Air
I've installed this (
http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/win/download/latest/AdobeAIRInstaller.exe),
I tried to make my first "Hello world" app >
http://filchiprogrammer.wordpress.com/2008/03/12/creating-a-sample-hello-world-adobe-air-a pplication-with-html-and-javascript/
I've set the correct path for the bins (I restarted windows,
because windows needs to restart for anything)
The command adl tells me :
Adobe AIR could not be found
Use "-runtime <dir>" to specify the location of the
runtime
Even if i specify the path wehe adobe air is :
adl -runtime C:\Program Files\Adobe AIR\Versions\1.0
Please help me. I really want to know more about Air.
Thanks in advanceIt doesn't use Java, ok ? What does it need ?
I've read all the doc, I've allready installed all the
softwares you can find on Adobe and Java and you tell me "adl
doesn't need anything" while adl command tells me it cannot find
Adobe AIR.
"download the whole SDK" >> where ? Could you tell me
which file please ?
Arghh, Moreover I can't believe how the windows terminal
sucks. -
Can developers distribute the Adobe AIR installer with their desktop applications?
Yes. In addition to creating and distributing cross-platform Adobe AIR application installer files, it is possible for developers to write their own custom native installers that install Adobe AIR and the Adobe AIR application.
In order to do this, developers must first apply for and receive a free http://www.adobe.com/products/air/runtime_distribution1.html.I'm going to forward this along to our android team for their review. In the meantime, could you open a bug on this over at bugbase.adobe.com? Please post back with the URL so that others affected can visit the bug and cast their votes.
Thanks,

RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR is GM
RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR is GM now and you can
download it now for FREE from Adobe site –
http://www.adobe.com/products/robohelp/robohelp-packager-for-air
Adobe AIR runtime enables applications to deliver both the
benefits of server connectivity and the compelling end user
experience of a desktop application. With a seamless offline-
online experience, end-users of Adobe AIR applications can continue
to work when they are temporarily offline. RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR now enables you to publish in Adobe AIR format. Neither
of the popular help output options - CHM or WebHelp or WebHelp on a
Server provide the array of features as RoboHelp Packager for Adobe
AIR does today. That said, in my opinion, RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR is a beginning, beginning of a new revolution in help
authoring. Here is a list of what you get today
· Auto Update - Adobe AIR applications that can update
themselves when online connection is available and that can work
perfectly when desktop is offline. For example, Adobe AIR help file
created with RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR will prompt the
end-users when an update is available. With a single click, the
help file will update itself.
· Get Web 2.0 features - Adobe AIR applications can
store information locally – for example, when you add
comments to Online Help, they are stored locally and can be viewed
after you have closed the application. End users can also comment
on external pages and store the comments as part of help file.
Comments are still available when Online Help has been updated
(provided file names don’t change) or when you are offline.
· Extensibility - Unlike HTML Help which depends on the
CHM viewer, the functionality of the Adobe AIR is extensible and
customizable. For example, organizations can add branding
information to Adobe AIR help file, including icons for help file,
branding imagery on the top of the help file and so on.
· Multiple tab – never before end user experience
- Adobe AIR help file also allows you to open multiple tabs within
the tri-pane enabling multiple help topics and threads to be
navigated at the same time.
· Integrated interface to everything your end users need
- You can also add resource links to your help files –
enabling a single access point for product pages, user forums,
knowledge base, online help and external web pages.
· Multiple templates to choose from - Organizations get
to chose from several of the templates and can select a particular
skin or theme for each of these templates. With RoboHelp Packager
for Adobe AIR, there are three templates come out of the box -
Multi-Tab Accordion, Unipane and Classic Help.
· End user preferences - RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR
enables the help users to customize their help by selecting their
preferences (something they can’t do for a CHM or for WebHelp
output – which is not hosted on a Server).
· Cross Platform - Adobe AIR is cross-platform and
cross-browser, supported on Windows, Mac and Linux (currently in
pre-release).
Needless to say, Adobe AIR has attracted a lot of interest
among the help community and some of the experts believe that
within two years, Adobe AIR will be the preferred help format for
40% of all help authors.
If you have not tried it, you can download it now from

Multi-Page Printing in Adobe AIR
I developed a commercial application for a client in Adobe
AIR about 3 months ago. Now my client wants to add a printing
feature. The problem is it requires multi-page printing based on
the number of rows in a SQLite table.
BUT I FOUND OUT TO MY AMAZEMENT that I'm limited to less than
3K vertical pixels (or about less than 3 or 4 pages of printout,
depending on the vertical size of the page in the set)!
I was really dumbfounded (AND EMBARRASSED WITH MY CLIENT) to
see this rather fundamental shortcoming in Adobe AIR. It is
supposed to revolutionize desktop application development, but
AIR's lack of such an important printing support as multi-page
printing is really very disappointing.
Most desktop applications require and are expected to provide
multi-page printing. I hope the members of the AIR development team
are listening to this well-justified criticism and will roll up
their sleeves and work on it!
Thanks!quote:

issue, the "evangelists" always seem to be out in force. I think
that means no one is even working on this, and no one wants to talk
about a negative that doesn't have a fix around the corner or even
on the horizon. (If you don't have anything good to say, don't say
anything at all). Its really a shame, since printing is so vital to
the desktop and AIR is supposed to be the bridge between the
desktop and web.
There are a couple bug reports on this issue that you might
vote for if interested:
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-13895
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/ASC-3300
Of course the status of the bugs is "deferred" and the
priority is "none," which only reinforces my belief that Adobe
doesn't intend to address this any time soon.
If this is true, then its really bad
I already had selected AIR for my University Project, and If
adobe doesnt add printing support within 6 months, then im going to
have a hard time
Is there any article which talks about those semi printing
ways like Save to HTML or simialr? -
How would I create an USB Barcode Scanner Listener using Adobe AIR?
I want to create a USB barcode scanner listener that would read in the scanned barcode, and place the barcode in a field in my AIR App even if the program wasn't focused on that particular field in the App. If the client was using the application at the time for something else the scan would be buffered in AIR till requested or the AIR App has been idle for x period of time where upon the field would be brought into focus.
How would I go about this (I'm developing on windows) Was hoping for a USB solution within AIR but not fussy at all if I have to go outside AIR to solve this problem. Java, Flex, ActionScript, Flash, C, C++, C#, VB (currently I've developed the rest of the App using Adobe AIR and JavaScript)
I thought after some research that I could make a Java App (if all else fails) that listens and buffers the input and passes it along using a socket but JUSB doesn't work on Windows properly.
I'm not stuck on any one particular implementation or idea just want to get development underway so... Any ideas? or suggestions would be awesome. I've googled a lot but haven't found any examples or solid suggestions, so any URL pointing to that information would be great too, if you know of a good one, then I'd be able to read up on any suggestion.
Thanks,
MartyThanks Joe,
Just for anyone else. I bought a Metologic Scanner - VoyagerCG. I was trying to get it to work using Java USB for a bit with no luck. But if you get this scanner or one like it, it can be configured as a Virtual COM Port. Which is very very easy in Java to set up as a listener and use sockets to transfer the data and listen within AIR.
This PDF has links to drivers and instructions if this is useful to anyone.

Can I import a view created in Adobe AIR into my Java Android App
Is it possible to create an Adobe AIR App that I can import into the Java App?
Essentially, at the moment I have an App with a Fragment that plays video through Flash. Since Flash is being deprecated on Android I need an alternative.
I was hoping that I could simply create a fragment in the AIR App and plug that straight into the Java App.
Unfortunately I know nothing about AIR. Hopefully someone could let me know if this is even possible.I've not used Adobe Muse, so I can't speak to its functionality too much. Theoretically you can import any site into CQ5, but it's not going to be a pleasant "click and go" kind of import. CQ5 is a content management system that has a lot more complexity (and therefore flexibility) in what you can do, where it looks like Muse just creates static websites. In terms of importing fonts/images/etc., CQ5 has the capability. Anything you can do with HTML/CSS/JS, you can do with CQ5.
Is this a one time thing? It seems like the workflow from Adobe Muse to CQ5 just wouldn't be worth the effort. What are you envisioning as a solution? -
Create an Adobe AIR application that can sync with iOS application.
Hi All,
We have created a Flex Mobile application and we need to create a corresponding sync application using Adobe AIR for copy some contents from Desktop to Mobile Phone. Does anyone has any idea how to get started any pointers would be of great help. Also is Adobe would be the right technolgy to go with as we would be required to create similar application for Mac OS too.
Thanks
VishalThanks and see this article, the detail is not what is the command that allows me themassive installation of AIR application.

Updated Adobe AIR and now Adobe reader crashes when trying to open PDFs created by Livescribe
Adobe AIR auto-updated earlier this afternoon, and now every time I try to open a PDF created by Livescribe, Adobe Reader crashes.
Adobe Reader XI ver. 11.0.0.379
Adobe AIR ver. 3.5.0.1060
Windows 7 Pro, SP1
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling both AIR and Reader, to no avail. I can provide install log for AIR if needed (just need to know how to upload it, or if you'd rather me paste the text).
Thanks for any help,
-RickHi Rick,
I'm surprised that the AIR update would cause Reader to crash. I received an update to Reader recently (yesterday I think), could this have also occurred on your system? Regardless, we should be able to drop back to an earlier version of AIR to try it out. Just uninstall and then grab AIR 3.4 located here:
http://download.macromedia.com/air/win/download/3.4/AdobeAIRInstaller.exe
Please let me know if this helps.
Thanks,
Chris
