Create directory object on a client machine

hey guys .. can i craete a directory object on a different machine_that is connected to the network_ other than the server machine from where i run the em?
& if so , how do i provide its path through the em?

If it is on the machine where EM Agent is installed, this may be possible. You can create a job (using OSCommand command). As part of the OS Command job, you can do 'mkdir'. Ofcourse, you will need to provide EM Agent credentials.

    Hello All,
    we have created shared folder on multiple client machine in domain environment on different 2 OS like-XP,Vista, etc.
    from some day's When we facing problem when we are access from host name that shared folder is accessible but same time same computer when we are trying to access the share folder with IP it asking for credentials i have type again and again
    correct credential but unable to access that. If i re-share the folder then we are access it but when we are restarted the system then same problem is occurring.
    I have checked IP,DNS,Gateway and more each & everything is well.
    Pls suggest us.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the same shared folder can be accessed by name, but can’t be accessed be IP address and asks for credentials.
    Please try to enable the option below on the device which has shared folder:
    Besides, check the Advanced Shring settings of shared folder and confrim that if there is any limitation settings.

  • Create directory object question ?

    I have been given right to create directory object by my DBA.
    The DBA has also created the folder specified in the create directory command.Now my Unix operating system user id is A and my Oracle user Id is B.The DBA is telling me that he has created the folder and has given all right to my unix user id.But my doubt is that it will not work because I am accessing that folder via Oralce PL-SQL procedure and not manually accessing that unix folder using unix id.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    ,m

    Files you create will be owned by the database owner (oracle). The folder needs to have group rwx privs for the same group a oracle (usually DBA).

  • FND function to create .csv data file on client machine?

    Hello All,
    I am trying to create a concurrent request which when run by the user's creates a .csv file with data. I created a procedure in the database which run's when they run the conc.request.
    However is there any FND function or anyother function available that creates the data file on the client machine (either in their 'C:\') or in a share drive etc?
    Currently through the procedure, I am able to write the .csv data file to a unix directory to which users do not have access.
    Thanks,
    Chiru

    Chiru,
    Several options for you to consider are :
    1. If you want to have the csv on client machine: Make the program to create the csv in server with a constant name, eg : test.csv and create a dos command in client's machine that is could FTP to server, rename the existing csv file in client's machine and get test.csv from server.
    2. If you want to do in share drive : As long as the share drive exists in PC that can be used for FTP, you can create unix host script that can FTP the file to the windows server. For instance, create a generic unix host script that accepts parameter such as filename, and server destination, destination folder, unix login ,password, etc. This program will run in a request set after your concurrent program. If you search google I'm sure you will find samples of unix script that does this kind of thing.
    3. As per what Kevin said ,another options is to send the csv file using email to the recipients.

    Catch up some information on JNI, read the tutorial on
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/native1.1/concepts/index.html
    Very straight forward, you could make a decision and be on your way to achieve it within about an hour.

    Hi, Amol;
    The main point of the error is that there is a class that is not found or missing.
    On the other computer, how did you deploy the Crystal runtime files? Have you installed a server version of Crystal to that machine, or does it have the full Enterprise product installed?

  • How to create a Log file on Client machine

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create a log file on my local machine using TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE in a stored procedure but it is throwing a compiler error as Error(5,10): PLS-00201: identifier 'TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE' must be declared. I seem it is occuring because of WebUtil and I am using Oracle SQL Developer on my machine.
    Is there any way to create log file on local machine.Can anyone help me out, Since three day I am struging to get out from this.
    With regards
    R e h a n

    Hi,
    TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE Package is used in Oracle Forms. Please Post in the relevant Forum for Questions for these.
    Forms
    You can Use the UTL_FILE in PL/SQL to create Log Files on the database server directory and Share the directory.
    Thanks,
    Shankar.

  • Create directory / object name must NOT be case sensitive

    SQL Dev. 2.1 - the wizard, chosen from the left side navigator, submits a wrong create statement in which the object name becomes case-sensitive. This should not be so! Even if you write the new object name in small letters , the object name must end up in the data dictionary with capitals. kind regards Inger ([email protected])

    Which wizard? If I use a create table wizard, for example, and enter the table in lower case, this is indeed stored in the DB as upper case, as you require.
    Please provide more detail for your problem.

  • Output of PL/SQL code in Client Machine.

    I am writing the output of PL-SQL code to a file. Later on I will use that output in a UNIX shell script.
    For that I am creating directory object and using the UTL_FILE.fopen and UTL_FILE.put_line functions of UTL_FILE package in Oracle.
    E.G.
    1) CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY MYDIR AS '…………………ANY VALID DIRECTORY PATH IN SERVER……………………………’;
    2)
    DECLARE
    config_file UTL_FILE.file_type;
    lv_i BINARY_INTEGER := 1;
    BEGIN
    lv_i := 2;
    config_file := UTL_FILE.fopen ('MYDIR', 'test.txt', 'W');
    UTL_FILE.put_line (config_file, 'This is test file' || 'lv_i= ' || lv_i);
    UTL_FILE.fclose (config_file);
    END;
    But UTL_FILE.fopen and UTL_FILE.put_line functions in oracle can write only to ORACLE SERVER side files.
    However, I want to write the output of the file to the UNIX box from where I am accessing database (using sqlplus DB_USER_NAME/DB_PASSWORD@DB_NAME).
    Is it possible in Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4.0) to write the output of PL/SQL code in client machine?

    Hi,
    Just an idea. I haven't tried it before in unix server since there's no chance to.
    In Windows you can actually map the specified folder where you want to write the file, so in this case, you just need to find a way on how you can map/mount the folder/directory where you want your file written. UTL_FILE can be used to write files(if the file does not exists) and write text in that file on a directory accross the network as I have done it before in Windows machine.
    Regards.

  • Saving The Report File (PDF) on Client Machine/PC

    Hi Everyone,
    I am using Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2). I have a form that calls a report (both forms and report version are 10.1.2) with ASYNCHRONOUS option and creates a file in PDF format. The report is running fine and is creating the PDF file fine BUT on the application server.
    I need to know if there is a possibility of either creating the file on the client machine/pc or transferring the file from application server to client PC. I would prefer the first option that is to create the file on client PC so the client can print or browse the report later. The second option would be ok if there is no solution for first option but I am assuming that it would take twice as much time. First to create the report on Application Server then to transfer the file from AS to client PC.
    I have already included webutil library and object library but could not find a way to save the file on client PC using any of the APIs.
    I would appreciate if some one provide me detail information. I mean syntax on how to either create the file on client PC or how to transfer the file created on application server to client PC. I would like to know where the report is created on Application server as the path will be required for transfer.
    Thanks in advance.
    Khalid

    Instead of just creating the file, open the file in a
    browser using rwservlet. That way the client can see
    it and save in his PC whenever he wants to.
    Try:
    ...write code to get report id...you must be already
    having this...
    then continue....
    :global.report_server_name:=<servername>;
    reports_servelet:='/reports/rwservlet';
    REPORT_MESSAGE := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(REPORT_ID);
    vjob_id :=
    substr(report_message,length(:global.report_server_na
    e)+2,length(report_message));
    hidden_action :=
    reports_servelet||'/'||'getjobid'||vjob_id||'?server='
    ||:global.report_server_name;
                                       --WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT(hidden_action);
    Basically you get the objid for the report you ran
    and open it in the browser.
    Hope this helps.Hi,
    First of all thanks for you kind reply. Actaully user has an option to preview report and it is working fine. The reports run and display under browser as either PDF or HTML depending on option selected by user. These reports can be saved on client machine without any problem as you mentioned.
    The problem with this form is that as soon as it execute the report it exit out of form. So the reports that are previewed run under SYNCHRONOUS mode and reports that are creating files run in ASYNCHORONOUS mode. I can run preview reports also in ASYNCHOROUS mode and I have already tried it by creating TIMER and WHEN_TIMER-EXPIRED trigger and commenting EXIT_FORM built-in. But as mentioned since the form exit out WHEN_TIME_EXPIRED does not fire and it does not display the report on the browser. I can see the status of the report in print queue when it is finished successfully.
    If the report is not displayed after running in ASYNCHOROUS mode then I will be unable to save the file. That is the reason we created the FILE creation option and thought we will find a way to create/save the file on client PC but I am having hard time to do that.
    I am sure I have made myself clear. Bottom line is that previewing a report in a browse is an option but will not work for long reports and if we run in background then it will not display in a browser as form exits after calling the run_report_object to run report so WHEN-TIMER-EXPIRED is not there to show the report when it is finished.
    Thanks
    Khalid

  • Can we create export dump files on client side??

    Hi,
    Please see this link
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/dp_overview.htm#i1010293
    Check the "NOTE" which says that
    All Data Pump Export and Import processing, including the reading and writing of dump files, is done on the system (server) selected by the specified database connect string. This means that, for nonprivileged users, the database administrator (DBA) must create directory objects for the Data Pump files that are read and written on that server file system. For privileged users, a default directory object is available
    So does this mean, the dump files can be created only on the server???
    What if i want to create the dump file on my client c:\
    Is it possible??
    As per my knowledge, this was possible in 9i
    Thanks

    Yes in the "orignal" export ,it was possible to have a client side dump file.But the Export DataPump uses the Directory parameter which maps to a directory on the server side only and the option to give an absolute path for the dump file on the client side is removed,the files can be only on server side.

  • Oracle 10g enterprise manager create directory

    Hi,
    I am new to using Oracle 10g on Linux and struggle with creating a new directory using the Enterprise Manager "wizard".
    I go to Database Instance > Directory Objects > Create Directory objects
    and try it with \home\oracle , then test the file system it says directory not available.
    pressing OK and continueing with my data dump does not work because I get the error "The directory does not exist"
    I wonder why it has not been created?
    moreover how do I delete the directory objects. I cant find a delete button using the enterprise manager browser ui ?
