Create/Drop/Compile Table, Views, Triggers, Sequences, etc.

Is there a way to create, drop, and compile objects on an Oracle database with the ADF library? If so, any good examples?
Can the results be captured as well?

Frank,
Maybe I wasn't clear enough. The only example I saw that involved the blob column was number 85 which did not contain info for database maintance.
I have a JClient application that reads database structures like triggers, tables, and views. I would like the user to be able to push a button and the trigger be compiled in the database. While SQL Dev probably has more features and does a better job I have added a bunch of internal stuff that would have to be manually added in SQL Dev each time a new trigger was created.
Is there a way, when working with the current transaction(or new transaction), to issue a statement like you would in SQL*Plus "DROP TABLE EMPLOYEES;" with the results being "TABLE DROPPED"?
thanks.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
    Your procedure's signature is
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE DWARE.P_CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE
    TBL_NAME VARCHAR2,
    START_DATE DATE,
    RESULT_ OUT NUMBER
    ) i.e. it is expecting two input parameters, TBL_NAME in VARCHAR2 format and the other START_DATE in DATE format. Also you need a variable with data type as NUMBER to hold the value of OUT parameter RESULT_
    Now look at the way you are calling this procedure
    BEGIN
    DWARE.P_CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE(CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE,'01/01/2010');
    END;
    /first parameter has to be a VARCHAR2, so enclose CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE into single quotes.
    second parameter should be a date, so use to_date() function.
    Lastly declare a variable with data type as Number for holding value of out parameter RESULT_
    Something like this :
    declare
    t_num number;
    begin
    a('CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE',to_date('01/01/2010','MM/DD/YYYY'),t_num);
    dbms_output.put_line(t_num);
    end;Vivek L

    What are p and d in

    Something tells me you might need some quotes in this statement since they are varchar2. Maybe
    "{call Allsch('"+p+"','"+d+"')}"
    If this doesn't work try to cut off parts of the procedure until it works.

    Just to emphasise Sven's point that the substitution variable (&continue) is resolved once and "compiled" into the code, try making a stored procedure instead of an anonymous block.
    SQL> create procedure p as
      2     continue char(1):='y';
      3  begin
      4     while(continue='y') loop
      5        dbms_output.put_line('somen');

      7        continue:=('&continue');
      8     end loop;
      9  end;
    10  /
    Enter value for continue: q
    old   7:       continue:=('&continue');
    new   7:       continue:=('q');
    Procedure created.
    SQL> select text from user_source
      2  where name = 'P'
      3  order by line;
    TEXT
    procedure p as
       continue char(1):='y';
    begin
       while(continue='y') loop
          dbms_output.put_line('somen');
          dbms_output.put_line('do u wan continue');
          continue:=('q');
       end loop;
    end;
    Note that where you had the substitution variable, there is now a literal value, q in my case.  Note that because I did not respond with y for the value of continue I can safely run this procedure.
    SQL> exec p;
    somen
    do u wan continue
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

  • Deployment error:Table, view or sequence reference to ABC is not allowed

    Hi all,
    I have created a mapping in OWB where a table ABC gets loaded from its stage table S_ABC. The mapping validates fine, code generation is fine but when I try to deploy the mapping it gives me a deployment error saying PLS:00357 Table, View or sequence reference ABC is not allowed.
    I used the same logic to one of my other mappings and it gets executed without any problem. If you guys could tell me what is going wrong in this mapping, that would be very helpful.
    Thanks.
    Priya

    if you are using a view or sequence in the mapping or referencing any other object then the owb user needs to have grants to access those objects otherwise the deployment will fail. Please check the object grants.

  • How to create variant for table/view ?

    Hi,
    When I go through SM30, I find a radio button called variant. I don't know the effect.
    Can anyone tell me how to create variant for table / view ?
    I want to know when we need to create variant for table/view.
    Best regards,
    Chris Gu

    hi ,
    Whenever you start a program in which selection screens are defined, the system displays a set of input fields for database-specific and program-specific selections. To select a certain set of data, you enter an appropriate range of values.
    For further information about selection screens, refer to Selection Screens in the ABAP User's Guide.
    If you often run the same program with the same set of selections (for example, to create a monthly statistical report), you can save the values in a selection set called a variant
    Procedure
    To create a new variant:
           1.      On the ABAP Editor initial screen, enter the name of the program for which you want to create a variant, select Variants, and choose Change.
           2.      On the variant maintenance initial screen, enter the name of the variant to be created.
    Note the naming convention for variants (see below).
           3.      Choose Create.
    If the program has more than one selection screen, a dialog box for screen assignment appears. The dialog box does not appear if the program only has one selection screen. The selection screen appears in this case.
           4.      If there is more than one selection screen, select the screens for which you want to create the variant
    5.      Choose Continue.
    The (first) selection screen for the report appears.
    If your program has more than one selection screen, use the scroll buttons in the left-hand corner of the application toolbar to navigate between them and to fill the fields with values. If you keep scrolling forwards, the Continue button appears on the last selection screen.
           6.      Enter the desired selection values, including multiple selection and dynamic selection.
           7.      Choose Continue.

    Jokes apart, there is nothing that you have told to us which can enable us to suggest you something fruitful. Objects don't get dropped automatically so someone must have dropped them by himself. So ask around, check some auditing logs if you have to know who fired the commands. And if you don't have auditing records, mine the redo log files to find the same.

  • Unable to create visual composer table view from the Bex Query

    Hi
    I am trying to create the visual composer lay out from a Bex query. The Bex query contains a set of Key figures and a structure.
    These key figure and structure combination is forming a table in the query output. Key figure parameters are coming as rows and Structure parameters are coming as columns.
    example query out put:
    Total, HPC, FDS excel ICe etc are as Structure elements and coming as columns in query out put and
    Invoice value, Gross sale value, Efficient operations etc are as Key figure elements in query and coming as rows in query out put.
    But if I map this query to visual composer table view all these are coming as columns as given below.
    Total Invoice value ,             Total Gross sale value,    Total Efficient operations,      HPC Invoice vale,.........
    And if execute the query will giving the out put in single row.
    Can anybody help me out to map this in the row column format?
    Is it really possible to do in VC?
    I am using CE 7.2. The VC model I need to be embedding in BPM.
    Please help me to solve this issue. I completely stuck up this issue.

    Hi,
    Try to use some function module which will convert query data into flat tables. (eg., RS_VC_GET_QUERY_VIEW_DATA_FLAT).
    Hope this solves your issue.

  • Drop a table with triggers

    Dear All,
    I have a script which creates tables and triggers and drop the tables.
    I want to know if the triggers are dropped automatically when we drop the tables and when we create the tables what is the name of the tablespace that they are created in ?
    thank you in advance for your reply

    Triggers are dropped automatically when you drop the associated table.
    SQL> create table a (id number);
    Table created.
    SQL> create trigger trga before insert on a for each row
      2  begin
      3  null;
      4  end;
      5  /
    Trigger created.
    SQL> select trigger_name from user_triggers where table_name = 'A';
    TRIGGER_NAME
    TRGA
    SQL> drop table a;
    Table dropped.
    SQL> select trigger_name from user_triggers where table_name = 'A';
    no rows selected

  • At max how many columns is advisable to create in a table/view

    Hi All,
    I have two transaction table from which i want to create a simple view or materialized view. But the number of columns is about 200. So i want to know at max how many columns is advisable from the performance point of view.
    Even though i will create 200 columns in a view , for a perticular client installation i may not use all the columns.
    one more thing i will never use 200 columns in the select statement . At a time i will use only 4/5 columns.
    It may happen from this four column one column will be the 1st and 2nd column will be the 200th one.
    I want to know how it affects the performance and in which scenario . Please help if any body knows or already faced this kind of scenario.
    I am using oracle 10g .

    thanks for ur reply .
    We are going to use this view in a report , so if i will create it as simple view it will affect report performance. because the view script is too long ...so every time quring to a view will decrease the performance.
    Are you asking me if it will? I think it probably won't but of course you have the means to test it to be sure, right?
    As u said MV should be done with minimum possible column . what can be the maximum column in MV ..??It would be defined by the limits on:
    * The maximum number of columns that a table can contain
    * The size of the query needed to define the select statement
    * Limitations on queries needed to maintain the data

  • Creating a pivot table view with two levels of headers

    Hi,
    I have a requirement in which i need to have a common heading for two or more columns.
    For Example, I have two columns like total number of loans and Total loan amount. As per my requirement, i need to give a common header 'Total loan' as the main header and amount and Count as two subheaders under the main heading in the pivot table.
    In table view, i would be able to make it using the display column and table header property. But, i need to get the same in pivot table as we have to use pivot table view instead of table view.
    Please Help me on this issue.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello,
    create one column in criteria and change it's fx to case when 1=0 then Products."Prod Name" else 'Tota Loanl' end
    Now go to pivot and drag this column to Columns block of pivot. But keep this column up of Measure Labels and Now, go to column Format values.
    Mention cell horizontal alignment to Center
    see the following screenshot, Header is the column i created with the above functionality.

    Can any body guide me how to create link on particular column of the table view and How can we navigate to another page by clicking on this link ?
    I am filling the internal table (for table view) by z tables. I do not have context node for that.
    Points will be rewarded.

    use Iterators. In the itarator you can create any BSP Object you wish to.
    in the method RENDER_CELL_START of the interface IF_HTMLB_TABLEVIEW_ITERATOR
    METHOD if_htmlb_tableview_iterator~render_cell_start.
      DATA: lo_text     TYPE REF TO cl_htmlb_textview,
            lo_link TYPE REF TO cl_htmlb_link,
            lv_link_click TYPE string,
            lv_link  TYPE string,
            lv_dim   TYPE string,
            lv_pernr TYPE string.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS: <dat> TYPE ANY.
      lv_link  = 'info.htm?pernr='.
      lv_dim   = 'left=300,top=220,width=620,height=200,menubar=0,scrollbars=yes,resizable=no'.
      row_ref = p_row_data_ref.
      CASE p_column_key.
        WHEN 'PERNR'.
          CREATE OBJECT lo_link.
          lo_link->id            = p_cell_id.
          lo_link->text          = get_column_value( p_column_key ).
          CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_OUTPUT'
            EXPORTING
              input  = lo_link->text
            IMPORTING
              output = lv_pernr.
          CONCATENATE `window.open('` lv_link lv_pernr `' , '` lo_link->text `', '` lv_dim `');` INTO lv_link_click.
          lo_link->text = lv_pernr.
          lo_link->onclientclick = lv_link_click.
          p_replacement_bee      = lo_link.
        WHEN OTHERS.
          CREATE OBJECT lo_text.
          lo_text->id       = p_cell_id.
          lo_text->wrapping = 'FALSE'.
          lo_text->text     = get_column_value( p_column_key ).
          lo_text->design   =  'STANDARD'.
          p_replacement_bee = lo_text.
      ENDCASE.
    ENDMETHOD.

  • BSP COMPILER & Table view  ITERATOR

    Hi Gurus,
       Can any  body give the follwing details
    1.What is BSP Compiler?
    2.What is Table view iterator?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards,
    Ravi.

    Hi,
    1.the compiler builds the internal code you put in your pages.
    practical reference:

    2.a bsp table view iterator can be checked here:

  • Create synonym of tables & views in one go!

    Hi,
    My oracle database is 11gR1 and Linux is the platform. I have more then 1500 tables and views. I need to create synonym of all views and tables. Is it possible to do it with some routine? Name of synonym is to be same as table name or view name. Kindly help me if it is possible.
    Thanks, Imran

    You can certainly write a small PL/SQL block to generate the synonyms, i.e.
    BEGIN
      FOR t IN (SELECT owner, table_name FROM dba_tables WHERE owner = <<schema name>>)
      LOOP
        EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM ' || t.table_name || ' FOR ' || t.owner || '.' || t.table_name;
      END LOOP;
      FOR v IN (SELECT owner, view_name FROM dba_views WHERE owner = <<schema name>>)
      LOOP
        EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM ' || v.view_name|| ' FOR ' || v.owner || '.' || v.view_name;
      END LOOP;
    END;(This assumes that you want to create public synonyms. If you are creating private synonyms, change the DDL appropriately).

  • Tables/views/Procedures/functions etc are not showing up in tree view, but can execute select * on dba_objects (can view in DBVisualizer)

    There was one other thread from years ago detailing this same problem. The only clue was to check whether select all privs were enabled for the user on dba_objects. They are for the user accessing the system. In fact, all tables/views/procs/funcs can be viewed in the tree view of DBVisualizer.  For whatever reason, OSD does not show anything.
    I'd appreciate any clues! Thank you!
    OSD Version  Version 4.1.0.18
    OS: Windows 7/64
    Java: 1.8.0
    Connecting to Oracle 11g 11.2.0.3.0

    Thank you, Gary.
    I updated the post with the version info. I did not explicitly install this JDBC driver, so whatever the OSD came with?  Unless it is using whatever is installed on my machine, in which case would be the thin driver.
    I did check out that post, and I appreciate you sharing it. I did click the 'include synonyms' filter, but behavior remained unchanged.
    I would prefer to use OSD, and that is what our dev team was expecting to use, but we just can't see the information.  We are using an ID that does not 'own' those tables, per se.  But, why would DBVisualizer show these tables, when OSD does not?
