Create dvd files

Hello. I would like to know if there is any way to make/manage/create VIDEO_TS files. Or any idea what I should try to look for to find out?

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premiereelements/using/WSeffff8bffc802084-7cb60a1912fd358c4a5- 7ff7.html

The transport controls are present when the screen is scrolled down.  Sorry I hadn't investigated this more completely befor posting the original question.

  • Fastest way to create DVD from HD

I would like to compile and render a single layer DVD from multiple .M2V files.
The DVD threshold of 4.7GB is required as most projectors here in Asia can not handle multi-layer DVD.
Is there another way to go about compiling and rendering that will decrease processing time? Another format? A modular methodology?
Our processing time using to create M2V files using Compressor is taking more than 8 hours. All advice welcomed!

You need faster hardware. A Powerbook G4 is going to take a long time no matter what you do. Time to upgrade - time is money.

These are elementary streams and they would be used by DVD authoring apps that use them for reasons like foreign language capability. Examples would be DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Encore, Toast.
The most straightforward way to burn your DVD is either to use the Share feature in FCP or the Batch Template feature in Compressor.
If you can find a boxed copy of iLife (try Amazon), it should have iDVD as part of the suite of apps. iDVD offers far more complete authoring capability than FCP or C4. iDVD  doesn't work with elementary streams; you'd just drag in your HD movie and you'd be good to go.

  • Creating FCE files for Adobe Premier

I have miniDV videotapes of some corporate presentations that I need to provide in a format to a client so they can use it on their intranet.
In providing DVD's burned on my Panasonic consumer deck, they have not been able to get the media off the DVD's very effectively. All kinds of problems. Who knows what codec is used on this stuff? I suspect the problems lies therein.
Client is working with Adobe Premier to title and segment the training media, and to create files for their server., I suspect.
Can you suggest how I might be able to take my miniDV's and create them in a digital file format that would be compatible with their Adobe Premier? I only have Final Cut Express which I use to import taped media onto my hard disk. But if they were to provide me with an external drive, can I create compatible files using Final Cut Express that would work with Premier? What format would that be? (And FYI - I'm a Mac guy. They're probably PC.)

    Thanks so much.
The standard def DVD's I've made have been straight from the camera into the DVD recorder. Recorded in SP mode using rca connections. New HD Canon XH-A1S camera I have does not have s-video connection for better video (thus RCA's), but that is neither here nor there.
Anyway, is QT, just plain simple QT? Or are there various QT formats that could be created for Premier using FCE (and which would be best)?

  • Create DVD button not working

My "Create DVD" button is not clickable.was working fine for weeks. Had a "QMaster" problem but downloaded Digital Rebellion to fix it. Now, the QMaster issue is no longer BUT the Create DVD button cannot be clicked.Dragged the Compressor icon to the trash and reinstalled, same problem. Have rebooted and tried again, same problem.is killing
    Time deadline of course...ugh!
    Thank you

Sorry, didn't know that would be relevent since it worked for a month.
Compressor 4.1.3 and FCPX 10.1.3 -- Have not had any previous versions...have had them both installed for about a months.
Latest info: received help but problem not solved. I CAN make a DVD from inside FCPX using the export command. Tech suggested QMaster files corrupt and removed the two QMaster files and placed them on my desktop so software would not find them and would recreate them. Rebooted system. Still cannot click "create dvd" inside Compressor.

  • Disk Utility - Erase Free Space - Creating Temporary File Freeze

I used "Erase Free Space" with Disk Utility after trashing several files I no longer wanted on the hard drive or recovered.  I used  "Zero Out Deleted Files" option.  It took over 12 hours before an error message appeared "Your start up disk is almost full.  You need to make more space available on your start up disk by deleting files."   I thought that was what I was doing.  Disk Utility continued but got stuck on "Creating Temporary File."  I force quit Disk Utility after several more hours.  I had to manually shut down the computer because the restart command wouldn't work.  It rebooted and appears to be OK.   Evidently, this temporary file consumes significant amounts of disk space. This is an older iMac with 10.4.11 (18 GHz PowerPC G5) - I know, pretty old but I still have OS 9 on it and several files I need to extract before I trash it.
    1.  Should I do nothing?  The iMac seems to be working fine.
    2.  How do I know if this Temporary File exists and consuming space?  Spotlight doesn't find it.  Where is it?
    3.  Is my start up disk in fact almost full?  How would I know that?
    Thanks!

Then I would not do any secure erasing. It's exceptionally time consuming and unnecessary. Before you take it in for recycling boot it from your OS X installer DVD. Do this:
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
A one-pass Zero Data option is all that is required to prevent access to your erased files.

  • Create DVD menu in Photoshop - font show pixels

I googled and search this forum and feel not help me at all.
I created DVD menu in photoshop (CS4) for DVD Studio Pro 4. I selected Film & Video NTSC DV widescreen(SD). Export file as .tif. Create DVD. Font look pixel on HDTV. Is there a way to improve menu looks for HDTV even DVD final output is SD 16:9? Is there guideline?

When you go into Photoshop, make sure that you select a high def alternative to create your menu, not SD.
Create a new file, select Film and Video and look in the list for HDV 1080p or HDTV 1080p as a start point. If you use anything else, you won't get the resolution that you need for HD.

  • Help - How do I convert raw DVD files to a playable DVD?

I really messed up. I was trying to copy some home movie DVD's for my family. I put the CVD into my I-Mac and then selected the disc image in the finder once it appeared on the desktop and then clicked 'File - Duplicate' from the Finder menu. It created another image on the desktop with all the same files as the DVD in it. I then would eject the DVD and put in a blank DVD-r and then drag that folder onto the DVD, open the finder window for the blank DVD-r where I saw the files, and hit 'Burn'. I thought that would be duplicating the DVD but it actually just created a DVD with the data files on it and it won't play on a DVD player. How do I take the raw DVD files (with the Audio-ts and Video-ts folders) and create a burnable DVD? Can I do that with I-dvd? Is there a quicker way? Please help

Click here and follow the instructions, which will work with any unprotected DVD.

  • MPGs from PE 6 can't be used as input to create DVD

As the title says, I've been using PE6 over the past couple years to capture my video to AVIs.  I then created MPG files for viewing and streaming.  I now would like to save them to a DVD with a menu, etc.  PE6 always crashes.
I find many hits on the forum saying you cannot use MPG files in such a manner.  That's a bit tough to swallow I suppose as I used PE to create the video but now I cannot turn around and use it as input?  I see mention that there are tools to convert.  I have found that they either do not work or makes with unusable quality (even the paid apps that I have trialed).
All the posts about MPG seem to be a couple years old so i tought I'd ask if PE8 might have better ability to create a DVD from my exported MPGs.
    Help greatly appreciated!

I suppose I assumed and hoped it would produce an error message if I imported non-compatible files into my project rather than simply crashing after processing for 20 minutes.
Well, it is not that those are incompatible, it is just that they take a lot more processing, as they are heavily compressed and also GOP. The biggest problem is that those files are already compressed, and one will compress them again - like a FAX of a FAX.
As for the crashing, that is probably more a function of the program and the system having to internally convert them to DV-AVI, so that you will have frame-accurate editing.
One could first convert, outside of PrE, to DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio, and then Import those. However, no conversion program will ever be able to reclaim that data, that was compressed out initially. That quality loss will be there, and compounded, when one Transcodes the material again.
As far as the complete specs. of those MPEG-2 files, you can use the great, free utility, G-SPOT, to gather all of the details. Unless you adjusted settings, it is very likely that they ARE 100% DVD-compliant. That is one great thing about Adobe programs - they are very specific, regarding accepted specs., unless the user really makes changes.
Being a full-featured authoring program, I think that DVD Architect will do just what you want. There are probably others, but I do not know which ones might fill the bill. I use Adobe's Encore, but it is no longer available as a stand-alone, and ONLY bundled with PrPro. I think that CyberLink, Roxio and Nero, also have some authoring capabilities, but know zero about that. Two other full-featured authoring apps are DVD Studio (both regular and Pro), and then the "grand-daddy" of them all, Sonic Scenarist, but it is in a league (power and price) all by itself. Might want to also look at the DVD Studio regular, as it gets pretty high marks, but the user interface does get graded down a bit.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Problems importing DVD file in After Effects

I am having trouble importing a DVD file into After Effects. When I import it, it gets in but then when I click on it an error comes up. An error comes up everytime I click on it, and it's annoying. Is there any way to fix this? I am trying to work with a full movie in After Effects so I can make a short music video. I don't know what else to do.If it helps the movie file is about 2 hrs long.
Please, if you understand what I'm asking, or if you've been through the same thing- your reply will be very valuable!
    Thank you

    Found the solution!
I found the answer on a post on http://Creativecow.net
    The link
    The post:
"...3. What ended up fixing it was by *not*  dragging the movie file to the new composition icon. Turns out my movie  had a strange frame rate of 14.985 instead of 15. Not sure why After  Effects interpreted my movie that way, I'm doing some unusual exports  because I'm working with screen capture software, so it's definitely not  a traditional workflow.
    4. So my solution was to create a composition from one of the AE presets  first and then tweak the settings slightly to match my movie  properties. Adding my movie clip to this composition gives me no errors  and we're good to go.
Strange solution, but it has worked. Now AE CS3 and I can be friends . . ."
Anyways, thank you guys for your replies!

  • Creating DVDs for with up to 150 small individual videos

    Hi,
I have about 2,500 videos ranging from 5-120s. I want to create DVDs that have the individual videos on it so I can flip through them easily as opposed to have a joint video file that combines all the videos on the DVD. With a single file on the DVD, I would have to fastforward and could not flip through. Now, I tried a few apps. One has a limit of 99 files which would leave one third of DVD space unused. Another allows adding videos that are bigger than 7s only which would leave out some of my videos. Another one froze in the attempt to create an DVD. IDVD supports only 6 menu items in which case I would have to join my snippets together (and I do not want to do that because I do not want to fastforeward - which would make it harder to find a specific video). So, I am really trying to do a very simple thing and I haven't found an app that can do that. Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

What you'll need to do is include an index sheet with each DVD showing what clips are in what menus of the DVD.  There just no way to have a search done in the iDVD project itself.
Some themes line the Parchment will allow up to 12 submenus/items per menu. I don't know is all themes will allow that many items in a menu.  You'll just have to test the theme you want to use. I find the simple, non-animated menus are best for large projects like this.
Those submenus can hold 12 items also but one of them will be the back button to the main menu leaving 11 videos per submenu.
Therefore you can get 12 x 11 = 132 clips per DVD.  However, the playing time for all of those clips including menus w or w/o audio must be less than 120 minutes (best to keep it to about 115).
Bottomline you'll need a list of submenus and the clips they contain to go with each DVD.

  • Footage "hops" after creating DVD

I couldn't think of a better word than "hops."  Sorry    When playing the clips before adding to Encore the clips play fine.  Imported into Encore and created a DVD and now the main feature of the DVD has issues.  Any parts of the video where there is movement(actors moving, talking, etc) the video looks fine but anything that is not moving in say a static shot with objects in the foreground,  the objects bounce noticeably bad..  I have placed three different video files on the DVD and only one does this so I am thinking there is some sort of compression or rendering issue with the options I choose.
I believe the one that has the issues I rendered out of Premiere CS5 as the H.264: Youtube HD with defaults.(29.97 fps)
The Outtakes reel I rendered to H.264: Youtube SD with defualts and that seems fine(29.97 fps)
The shortened version of the film I rendered in H.264:Vimeo HD (30 fps and other tweaks vimeo's site suggested as I had issues uploading to their site unless I did this exactly.
I am re-rendering the footage with h.264 DVD720(not the offical name) and added the tweak Vimeo suggests from their site.  I am hoping this works if not then I will go with the Vimeo preset with tweaks.  I guess i am curious why this happens and if there is a suggested format I should be doing when creating DVDs?  I normally do not do DVDs and just upload to YT or Vimeo so this is new ground for me.
    Thanks,
    Rich

    Hi Rich,
You are doing yourself a disservice if you think you have this all sorted out now. Stan made the correct suggestion at the start that you need to encode to MPEG-2 for DVD, but you seem to be on a totally different path of your own choosing.
The official DVD specification calls for MPEG-2. Nothing else. You can feed Encore YouTube clips or whatever you want, but they will ALWAYS, without exception, get converted to MPEG-2 before they ever get burned to the DVD. Nothing else will work.
You are correct that MPEG-2 files are larger than your YouTube clips - because the H.264 clips are more compressed for the web. By converting to H.264 from Premiere, you are highly compressing the video, tossing out a bunch of data that you will never get back later.
The proper workflow from Premiere is to encode directly to MPEG-2 for DVD in Media Encoder. The resulting file is then DVD-ready when you import it in to Encore. It will not be converted again, and the quality is just one generation away from the original source. As stated earlier, if you bring your H.264 clip into Encore, it has to transcode it to MPEG-2 anyway. Now you have encoded the file twice...time wasted, quality lost, extra space taken on the hard drive...what was gained?
Also - if your source was 1080i or SD, it was interlaced. Converting to an "H.264 for web" format deinterlaces the video to Progressive. With SD footage, that means you threw away half the resolution. Half the picture, gone.
If you DO need to create an intermediate file for some reason, there are "lossless" .avi codecs that come to mind like Lagarith or UT, but I never think of YouTube videos and quality together ;-)
Please reconsider your workflow, and your viewers will thank you
    Regards,
    Jeff

  • 4.0.5 Making "Create DVD" but nothing happens...

I'm trying to make a DVD with my movie but Compressor hangs up on the message "Waiting"... and nothing happens...
    Please help...
    That's what I get:

I'm running into this same issue with Compressor 4.07 on a new MacBookPro with Retina and external Super Drive.  How did you solve it?
It makes files for DVDs OK but when I add the Create DVD function, it hangs up close to the end.  I let it run all night to see if it just needed time but nothing had changed over 8 hours later.
Did you do something to make it work for you or did it just need time?

  • Creat VOB files From FC Pro Timline or Compressor

Is it possible to create DVD VOB files from the timeline of FC Pro or Compressor?
This is feature that is available in Edius, is there anything similar in FC pro or Compressor?

    Hi,
There is no direct way to create VOB files from FCP nor Compressor but you may use DVD Studio Pro.
1- Export your sequence from FCP using "Export via Compressor..."
2- In Compressor, drag from the settings tab a setting that suits your needs (ex :Apple>DVD>Best Quality 90 minutes)
3- In DVDSP import the resulting files (m2v and ac3) in the" ressources tab", drag those 2 files in the "track 1" icon of the graphical tab, right-click and choose "first play".
Then, you just have to buid a project (ie a VIDEO_TS folder containing your VOB files) using Option-Command-C (File>advanced burn>build)
    Hope it helps.
