Create object form pattern

I have seen mutiple ways for implmeneting forms for creating entities. What is the best practice. I have some attributes that are exposed in the form and the rest need to be set programatically. I need to navigate away to 2 different pages depending on the outcome of the create.
I am thinking of having data binding to a view iterator for the form fields, using "actionListner" handler to set attributes programatically and using an "action" handler to commit the transaction, which will return strings depending on the outcome. Both the handers will be in app module and bound to the submit button through execution binding.
Pranab

Hi,
I would keep the navigation handling in the managed bean so it stay independent of what exactly the Am returns. The managed bean basically maps the return value of the AM to the desired navigation case. Its always better practice not to couple the view layer with the business service

  • Can't create object types in forms 10

    Hello,
    I am trying to use object types in forms 10.
    I have already created successfully two object types and also corresponding object views.
    With one object type A everything works fine in form. But with the other object type B it doesn't.
    I am calling the constructor of object B and after the constructor finshed, forms says that there is a numeric or value error.
    Well, by nbow I have reduced attributes from object B so that they are identical to object A (which works). But still get the same error or if I use a different constructor I get NULL as a return value. I tested the constructors with test script in the database directly and viola - the constructor are working fine.
    Only if I use the constructors in forms environment they fail.
    Any ideas why this might happen?
    Thank you
    Matthias
    Well, I fear to use the object types in my next project cause if I run into trouble if the object types are so easy with less code, what else might happen if they are filled up with much more code?

    Hello again,
    I have tried again and still get the exception.
    Now I provide the code. Perhaps someone can see, why this exceptioon occurs.
    In the database I coded the following:

         when others then
              message('Exception: ' || sqlerrm);
    end;
    And in that forms block I got the exception.
    Perhaps someone has ANY idea...

  • Creating a form with a skip pattern (skip logic)

    Hello - Using LifeCycle Designer 7.0
    I am creating a form with a simple: Yes/No radio button for one field(quesiton).  I would like to have the form skip to a later field(question) if they answer 'No'.  Can this be coded somehow in FormCalc?
    Is there a way to easily put skip logic (not tab) in a form (Survey).
    Thanks for your time/help.

    You can use the setFocus methos to move the cursor to the field that you want..
    Place it in the click event of the radiobutton.
    In FormCalc:
    if(radioButton1.rawValue == 1) then
         $host.setFocus("<FIELDNAME>");
    endif
    In Java Script:
    if(radioButton1.rawValue == 1)
         xfa.host.setFocus("<FIELDNAME>");
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button Object palette, the "Submit As";
    In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);

  • Creating PDF forms in LiveCycle Designer 8.0

    I post detail at Software
    nha khoa Group
    Question on a quirk I have noticed when creating a form using LiveCycle Designer 8 and was wondering if there was a way to change this.
    I will use a Text Field for an area where I want the person who will fill out the form to add comments/questions. I widen the box out so the user will have area to type their comments in.
    In the properties of for that Text Field, on the "Object" tab I check the box to allow multiple lines and I limit the length to the visible area.
    That all works fine. The quirk is when I test the form and then click in that area to type for the text field the cursor always starts in the middle of that Text Field area. Is there a way to get the cursor to start at the top of the text box when someone fills out the form?

    Post your question in the LiveCycle Designer forum.

  • How do I create a form with text fields that can continue to multiple pages with out it over lapping

    I have created a form in Livecycle and have made every object a sub field. But I am still having the same probably. The text field only continues on to a second page and overlaps the footer I have created at the bottom of the page. I am new to livecycle and have tried a lot of different things to fix this problem. Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I've found this blog http://blogs.uoregon.edu/developments/2010/12/29/pdf-making-text-fields-grow-to-accommodat e-text/ and this example file : flowableTest.pdf? Is it close to what you search? I cannot go deeper into example now, but will.

  • Problem when creating a Form with Launch Task Form Wizard

    Hi all,
    I'm using jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 over Windows 7 64bits for my BPM project.
    I'm a new with BPM and i have a problem when trying to create a task's Form with the "Launch Task Form Wizard". I'm trying to create my Form based on a custom template, i already have imported the template as a library, now after i have selected the template i follow the wizard and i reach the wizard's rowX-columnX where i should choose the field i want in my form, but the problem is that i don't see any fields in that part of the wizard, the window is empty :(
    I have created a business object based on a XSD, then i created a process data object based on the previous created business object and finally i used this data object as a parameter to the human task.
    What could be my problem ?? :( :(
    Regards
    Carlos

    I have also faced this issue few times. There could be a namespace issue / schema issue. Please check if you are able to see task:task in the schema section anywhere in the .task file you created. If that is not shown, the fields will not appear while creating human task form.
    Thanks

  • How to block modification in object form

    Hi all,
    Is there a way to block any modification in oject form (both parent and child) after the request was submitted?
    Currently when the request is raised,OIM (9.1.0.2) alows us to view and edit object form values.Is there any way to block this edit functionality ?

    Still it didn't work.
    My requirement is this:
    A user raises a request for a resouce by providing values in parent and child object forms.
    Suppose that he has given group1 in child form and have submitted the request.
    Before this request gets approved he wants to add group2 along with group1 in child form.
    Now he goes to request details page and edit the child object form by adding group2 in child form and when the request gets approved the user got created in the target with two groups.
    My requirement is to block the user from adding group2 in child table after the request is submitted.
    I think in this case since a new record is getting inserted in child table , the end user is able to update his request with new group.

  • ABAP OBJECTS: Dynamic Create object

    Hi folks!
    I have a problem... I need to create a dynamic type object with:
    <b>DATA: my_instance TYPE REF TO class1.
    CREATE OBJECT my_instance TYPE (class2).</b>
    <i>* where class1 is a superclass of class2.</i>
    When I do:
    <b>my_instance ?= m_parent.</b>
    <i>* where m_parent is an instance of class1</i>
    My problem is when I want to access to an attribute of the class2, the compiler says that it cannot find the attribute <i>(this is OK, because the attribute is only in the class2).</i>
    My question:
    Is there anyway to access to an atribute of second class when is not in the first class? (i don't want to create the attribute as an attribute of the first class).
    Thanx!!!!

    Hi David,
    When you do the debugging, you are dealing with run-time - i.e., the program is now running and you are just interrupting it at each statement to examine the program state. You will reach the point where the object is already created. That is why you can see all those attributes. But when you comiple, the program is not yet <i>running</i>, so the attributes will be unknown because of the dynamic type specification.
    I think you will have to redesign the program logic. As i had already said in my earlier post, it is not proper to have the attributes specified statically while the class itself is specified dynamically.
    Your situation is somewhat similar to -
    DATA ITAB TYPE TABLE OF SPFLI.
    PERFORM TEST TABLES ITAB.
    FORM TEST TABLES ITAB.
      LOOP AT ITAB.
        WRITE: / ITAB-CARRID.
      ENDLOOP.
    ENDFORM.
    Hope the point is clear.
    Regards,
    Anand Mandalika.

  • Creating Quote form that goes to a shopping cart

    I'm hoping someone can help me work through this question; I have a customer who would like a type of quote form on their site. Their customer would be able to get a quote on a product that has multiple parts which they would select the parts from drop-down menus on a form, then they submit the form to a holding cart type place, then they might want another quote on another item and then they could submit that quote to the holding cart, etc. There might be many objects or quotes that they might want quotes on, THEN they can submit ALL of the product quotes to my customer at the same time.  So it's kind of a shopping cart type idea (purchase all items at once) but no payments involved, no pricing, just wanting to be able to submit several quotes all at once, not one at a time. This needs to start out with quite a detailed form, I can do that, but it's the submitting many forms in a batch format that I'm not quite sure where or how to do.
    Do I start with a shopping cart or is there some other format to use?
    Any ideas?
    Annette

    Does it matter that anyone could enter the right name in the form to return the customer data? If so you need to use a password.
    1. Create a form through which the customer can register their details with a user name and password.
    2. On the server side hash the password with something like SHA256 (plenty of open source implementations about or you can create your own).
    3. Store the customer details together with a userid and hashed password in the server database
    4. Create a form through which the customer can request their details, and asks them for their userid and password.
    6. On the server side, rehash the password from the form and request a row from the customer database where the userid and hashed password match an entry
    7. Return the customer data if row retrieved from database else return a message saying on data matching those details etc.
    Regards
    Phil

  • How to create new form fields in several columns (spreadsheet) and have them named consecutively?

    Hopefully someone can help.  I created a new form from an Excel spreadsheet, but the form field recognition didn't "take" well and very little of the spreadsheet translated into form fields.  I need to create new fields (31) for each column (about 10) and I want the fields in each column to have a keyword from the parent column and the fields numbered consecutively.  I'm really hoping I don't have to do this manually!
    Next, is there a way to total the values in a column of fields (the same as the SUM function in Excel?) or does the form user have to dig out a calculator and add everything?
    Can I create an email (submit) button and direct how (ie email) and by what method the form is sent?
    Once the form is completed, is there a way for the user to lock it before sending it - ie a button they could press to make it no longer fillable?  Or can I set the document to be a regular .pdf once it leaves the host machine?
    I think that's it!  Hopefully someone can help soon - this is a work project that could be potentially very time consuming if I have to create each form field manually.  Thank you for any assistance!
    Cheers,
    LostintheNorth

    LostintheNorth wrote:
    Rats!  Thank you for your link - I may take you up on that... however for the purposes of this form I'm more than halfway done, so I might as well keep plugging away.  A workaround I found was to creat 32 of something I only need 31 of, then delete the parent.  Somehow even playing with spacing on the "create multiple fields" option as the fields are being created only gets the vertical alignment close - no matter what I do I still end up manually aligning (vertically) 31 little boxes for each column so they fit visually.  Grrrr.
    Yes, this can be very tricky. If you don't get the exact right offset between each field, the difference will accumulate and after a while it will be completely off.
    You just have to play around with it, until you get it right. Or almost right, and then adjust it manually.
    Another thing I've noticed, is that when you select one field and right click for properties, you get an expanded version, as opposed to select/shift/enter for a bunch of cells only yields an abbreviated properties box - what's up with that?  Is there a way to change this?  For instance, I had set the properties for a column of 31 cells to be number, 1 decimal place.  Halfway through my project, the lady I am doing the favor for tells me she would like 2 decimal places, requiring me to manually change each box for 62 cells!  Apparently cell formatting is not an option in the abreviated properties dialogue!  Is there a fix for that?
    No, there isn't. Some propeties you have to set manually (or get right the first time, before copying and pasting...). There is a way to do it with a script, but it's a bit complex and requires using an undocumented method.
    This next question is a bit more complicated, and may not be possible.  The form I am creating is for payroll purposes, so at the moment it is generic (31 days) and the user fills in the month manually. Is it possible to get the form to recognize a month value (or create a pulldown menu with a selection of months to choose from) and limit the days accordingly?  Or better yet, run a calendar function so that weekends and stat holidays are highlighted on the affected row?  Kind of like what you can do with an Excel spreadsheet, which is what I designed the form in at the start (then printed to .pdf - the form field recognition did NOT work well on my spreadsheet!  hence me doing every cell manually).  Is this even possible, and if so, is it something I could learn to do?
    Yeah, it's possible, but requires quite a bit of scripting knowledge. If you wish, contact me personally (by PM or email at try6767 at gmail dot com) and I could possibly create this for you.
    If you want to do it yourself, you would have to learn a lot about both the Date object in JS and about the various date printing and scanning methods in Acrobat JS.
