Create Parent Node programmatically

Just wondering if it is possible to add Child ScopeNode on clicking Custom right click action on custom Node.
ScopeNode object, appeared after I handled action in my test assembly has scopeNode.Children.Add() method. But, I'm not sure how can I create a ScopeNode object which whill be a child for one I've clicked.

SCCM 2012 Right Click Menu Editor might help you to create the configuration files for the Right Click Menus.

Create treetable node programmatically

I have a treetable that has some first level nodes (parent). I need to create and add their children (second level) nodes programmatically.
There is a sample code below, but it doesn't work. There is no error but it didn't add the children nodes.

I have allready binded and refreshed the table by
AdfFacesContext adfFacesContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
adfFacesContext.addPartialTarget(this.getMyTree());
But any node didn't be added.
Why I have chosen this method (Add child node manually) :
I have two VO these have only transient attributes, I mean these VO are not EO based and there is no any SQL query.
There is a viewlink between theese VO (First VO has parent records, second one has child records)
I get the records via a mehtod and fill them to the parent and child viewobjects.
Finally I would like to show the records as a treetable, but it didn't show the child records, it shows only parent records.
The viewlink doesn't work with treetable or tree objects.
So I can not use your second advice.
I think this is a bug and I have a workaround that is not useful.
I have gave up to show records as a tree table, I show the records as parent-child tables.

Treeview Add Child to Parent Node Without Creating a New Parent

The problem lies with the AddTreeViewItems method
seen above. Currently, if I call the method by let's say:
AdvancedErrorCalculationViewModel.AddTreeViewItems("Parent","Child 1", "Completed");
it creates the parent and child nodes just fine. No issues there.
However, if I call the method again with the same Parent name but a different Child; for example:
AdvancedErrorCalculationViewModel.AddTreeViewItems("Parent","Child 2", "Completed");
It creates a new Parent node with a child node Child 2 instead. Thus, I have something like this:
- Parent
- Child 1
- Parent
- Child 2
I would like to modify this function so that if the parent name is the same, the child node should belong under the previous Parent instead
of under a new Parent node. Something like this:
- Parent
- Child 1
- Child 2
Could anyone help me modify my code to detect if the Parent node exists in the observablecollection already and if so, place the child node under the existing parent? The main problem I am facing is trying to add items to a previously created observable collection
with an existing hierarchy because I don't know how to access the previous observable collection anymore. Help me with this please.

You need to try and find an existing entry and if it's there add the child to that instead.
I notice you're a student and I guess this is probably an assignment.
By the way.
I suggest you work on the name of your collections and classes there.
EG A class should be singular but way more meaningfull than treeviewsubitem.
Anyhow, finding the top node could be done using linq. Since you can get none, SingleOrDefault is the method to use.
Thus something like:
TreeViewClass tvc = treeViewObsCollection.Where
(x=>x.Title == passedTopNodeName).SingleOrDefault();
Will give you tvc null or the qualifying entry.
If it's null, do what you have now.
If it's not then add the child item to tvc.
tvc is a reference to the TreeViewClass you have in that collection.

ADF Tree setting focus back to parent node after deletion of child node

Hi,
Is there a way to get the focus back to the parent node (or rather any particular node) in a tree?
I have a use case where we need to get the focus back to the parent node after a child node is deleted.
Currently the focus is shifted to the next node in the tree, but the need is to get the focus shifted back to the parent node. Also the parent node should be re-invoked to populate to get the latest status after deletion of the child node.
Any help/pointers?

However the issue is since I am using custom created tree using POJO tree item (composite object).
calling myTree.getWrappedData() doesn't gives me a handle to JUCtrlHierBinding and subsequent access to JUCtrlHierNodeBinding.
my program gives me data like -
List<MyTreeItem> treeData = (List<MyTreeItem>)treeModel.getWrappedData();
because my tree model is build using -
treeModel = new ChildPropertyTreeModel(items, "children");
where items is List of <MyTreeItem>
Hence I am unable to get a handle using -
List nodeParentList = nodeParent .getKeyPath();
I am programmatically able to invoke the parent node to get the fresh data, only issue is the focus/selection of that node is not happening
Is there a way around?

Problem with trees(Duplication of the parent node in creation of children)

Hi guys i am experiencing a slight problem with the creation of trees.Here is a clear explanation of my program.I created a program that generates edges from a set of datapoints then use each and every edge that is generated to create multiple trees with the edge as the rootnode for each and every tree.Everything up to so far everything went well but the problem comes when i want the program to pick every single tree and traverse through the set of generated edges to create the children of a tree.What it does at the moment for each tree is returning the a duplication of the parent node as the child nodes and that is a problem.Can anyone related with this problem help.Your help will be appreciated.

Your program output makes no sense. Look up pre-order, in-order, and post-order notation for representing trees. Pick one of those that you think would be best. I would go with pre-order. Because what you are doing isn't understandable.
By the way, I think your concept of a tree is flawed. A node in a tree has 3 things. it has a reference to its parent, it has references to any of its children, and it has some key value that represents the node (if each node were represented by numbers, the value would be an integer or something). In the case of the root, its reference to its parent is null. I don't know what you are doing with your tree, but it is highly confusing.

Af:tree Master child relation ,but showing child id's as parent node vice

Am using adf 11G 11.1.1.5
I have a small requiement .
Am using af:tree , where i display childId's . Onclick of child it i have to show popup with tree structure where i will show parentid as node and childId's as child nodes
i have created view link between child and parent views.
Now isssue is when i selected childId in table (i mean a checkbox is given where user check the child Id and fire button ).On dat action am calling popup with tree structure .BUT here childId's are displaying like Parent nodes and parentId's as child node.
any suggestion . if want i will drop the code

There is only viewlink between, Parent and child .NO FK ,these are not related database table (Entity Object.).
simple query's which are made from same table , but base on Parent/Root col i have show data in tree structure way.

Parent node showing in schema when child nodes not present

I had several folks answer my questions on mapping from a flat file to an EDI 835 schema and I am down to just a couple of issues before I finish up. I have a conditional mapping issue that I have to solve before I can map the rest of the document. I am
mapping three fields in a single non-repeating line in the flat file to a repeating segment in the 835. Basically I need to create a separate AMT_ClaimSupplementalInformation segment for each field in the flat file line. As you can see in the picture
below I want to create a AMT_ClaimSupplementalInformation segment for CDISCOUNT, CINELIGIBLE and CALLOWED.
You can see I have quite a bit of conditional logic attached to the three fields, but I have all three connected via a loop to the AMT_ClaimSupplementalInformation parent. I cannot attach the loop to the parent of the three fields because it only appears
once in the file. And if I leave the loop out the AMT segments get stacked funny, like this:

You can see how they should be stacked in the next pic.
In some cases however, one of those fields may be blank so I will not need to create a AMT_ClaimSupplementalInformation segment for it. I was able to use some conditional mapping ideas you guys gave me using the Not-Equal and Value Mapping functoids, and
that works great to keep blank child nodes from being created. However, Since I have a loop attached to the AMT_ClaimSupplementalInformation parent node it still creates an empty parent node even when the child nodes are not created. See the empty parent
node in the pic below.
Since looping functoids can only be attached to links I don't know how to make the parent node conditional.
Any suggestions?

Boatseller, thanks for the tip. I did end up going the XSLT direction. It's a bit of a hack, but I'm using the following XSLT to eliminate empty nodes :

I created a new map with the 835 schema on each side. I then created an XSLT file and pointed to it in the Custom XSLT Path property. It seems to work well. I call this map right after my FlatFile_To_835 map.
I was hoping to use the scripting functoid with inline XSLT in the map so that I didn't have to worry about deploying the XSLT file(just another thing to keep up with in the future), but when I compile it I get the following error:
The "Scripting" functoid has 1 input parameter(s), but 2 parameter(s) are expected.
I'm wondering if I'm connecting the schemas incorrectly in the map:
In any case, I'm past the empty nodes issue for now, which was a big roadblock. Now I have to deal with the CAS segments which are, as you said, a real pain.

How to assign ALV for parent node and child node that uses supply method.?

I need to display header details ( VBAK ) and Item details ( VBAP ). I have created two node like HEADER_NODE inside this i have created ITEM_NODE for this item node i use supply function 'GET_ITEMS' any way it is working only when crete two separate table and binding but when i come to work with ALV i am totally confused .. i have created two 'View Controller UI Elements' when i try to map HEADER_NODE it mapped properly but for ITEM_NODE it shows mapping already defined. return status message as 'Action Cancelled' . In result both ViewContainer shows only HEADER_NODE data only.
How to achive ALV for Parent, child node that uses supply function ? ?

Delete Mapping is not enabled, that means there is no mapping done yet.
I just tried what you are saying and the application works and i am able to map the header table and item table and also again i could map the tables any number of times.. i didn't get any such message, sorry i couldn't recreate the scenario. might be there is something wrong in the context.

You can map the child node and even the paren tnode to the same view if u want to display in the same window..
If not if ur requirment is to dispaly in the sme view but should not map the child and parent to the Same view then you can take another new view.. and insert 2 view containers and then add the Child view and parent view in that view containers and then Diaplay the newly created view.

Hierachy parent node retrieval

Hi,
I wanted to get the parent node name for the given node. Suppose If I go to Hierarchy table of profit center and enter a node name, it will display the parent id. from there, I would like to get the parent id's node name. How is it possible? is there any function module which gives the parent node if we give the node name ? I have checked the below function modules but not got the required output.

Hi Friends ,
Currently i am working on DMEE , I have a problem . When Child node is empty I donot want the parent node to appear in the tree.Here I am uisng a field via exit function module for childnode. so not a fpay* strucutre field to write a condition.
Is there any other way for this ?

I'm not sure if this can be done in DMEE tree, but there is BADI DMEE_BADI_01 that can be implemented to perform any kind of postprocessing right before the file is created. I used it, for example, to replace separators with tabs. I believe this can also be used to eliminate the unneeded nodes.

Reporting the parent node of InfoObject in a report having the info Object

Hello Gurus,
Can I populate a column with a Parent node of an InfoObject1 in the hierarchy just like if it was an attribute of that InfoObject.
Eg: Lets take ZXXXX which is in a hierachy HXXXX at the child level1 and the Parent is PXXX.
PXXX is not an attribute of ZXXXXX.
In a Query QXXXX, I am pulling ZXXXX. Can I Pull PXXXX as well in the report thro the hierarchy.
Please suggest how?

Hi Simmi,
When you create the Hierarchy, you can include the characteristic PXXX in the External Characteristics tab of the Hierarchy maintenance screen. Then you'll be able to specify values for this characteristic in the Hierarchy and use them in the Query.

Action Script to add a parent node value to the top node

I need to add a new parent node value to a hierarchy for the top node. The action script parameters to add a node is "Add|Version|Hierarchy|Node|Parent Node|Leaf property". I am at a loss on what to do for the top node since there is no Parent Node above this top level, but the parameters require it. I have reviewed both the user manual and admin manual, but did not find any assistance. Can anybody help me?

You have the answer with you, don't get confused between Parent Node and Top Node in this context, while Adding a new node your Top Node will become your Parent Node.
"Add|Version|Hierarchy|Node|Parent Node|Leaf property"
If you still have confusion, simply do the below,
1. Right Click on your Top Node and Add a new Leaf or Limb Node manually
2. Once added, go back to Home -> Script
3. Select Source Type as Transaction Log and then select the newly added node and Load
4. In the bottom select Script -> Download -> Download as Action Script.
5. Open in a Notepad and leverage it to create your new script.

Parent node showing icons or symbols like - though it does not have leaves

I created an adf tree using a view link between region -- countries-- location .. when i see the tree it appears as if all the parent nodes has child nodes as all the nodes indicate an icon or symbol in it... when i expand the nodes i find it does not have any child nodes... how to overcome this... I want symbols or icons only for those nodes that has leaf nodes .So that i need not expand all the nodes . How can it be achieved . Can someone tell me.... I have seen samples but still encounter same problem ...

Hi,
for performance reasons, ADF does not query all data from the database and instead uses deferred data fetches when the node is expanded. Because of this optimizations, all tree ends show as nodes. There is a bug I filed to make the performance optimization optional after which you get what you want (by the cost of slower tree rendering if large data sets are involved)

Account Type for Rollup/Parent Nodes in Fusion GL Hierarchies

We are currently implementing Fusion GL. As part of creating reporting hierarchies, there is some unclarity around requirements for how to assign the Account Type field (Asset, Liability, Owner's Equity, Exp, Rev) for the rollup/parent nodes in the natural account dimension. Does the Account Type field impact any reporting or functionality when applied to a rollup/parent node? Or can they all be defaulted to one option?

I have a GL account no 4000 for AST and my parent node is NEWB
After loading master data I am getting ACCTYPE for GL Account No 4000 as AST but my parent node NEWB is EXP due to above mentioned mapping.
Do I have to map all my GL accounts and hierarchy nodes in my conversion file with respective ACCTYPE?
