Create PDF/A report

Is it possible to create a report in PDF/A format? If it is, in which version of OracleReports it's possible to make that.
Thanks
Marko

Hello,
Unfortunately no version of Oracle Reports supports PDF/A.
the way you would do that is to create a custom destination class for the reports server that implements the conversion to PDF/a using some kind of third party tool. take a look at the reports java doc
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/apirefs.1111/e10775/oracle/reports/server/Destination.html
to get an idea of the API. you can take the "secure PDF" sample destionation from the plugin exchange as a guideline.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/reports/index-085705.html
Also,Oracle Reports provides several ways in order to include accessibility features in the PDF file. The PDF format file follows the tagged-PDF standard defined in PDF 1.4. This standard along with Acrobat Reader 5 (or higher) provides features for inclusion in the paper layout.
For information on enabling accessibility-related features offered through Oracle
Reports from the command line-->
see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/b32121.pdf -->Section A.5.1, "ACCESSIBLE".
For information about using the Oracle Reports accessibility properties designed to make PDF report output accessible to the disabled community (Alternative Text, Headers, ID, Report
Language, and Table Caption properties), see the Oracle Reports online Help.

  • How to create pdf from reports iView in VC?

    Hello,
    I have created a certain iView which presents a few BI reports in VC.
    Is it possible to add to it a button or a link that by pressing on it will generate a pdf file with these reports so the client can download?

    Hi,
    It can paste data into a microsoft word document. But the chart is not pasted. instead data in all components in the particular iview (including table data and chart data) is coiped into clipboard.
    Only, the category axis, value axis and data series fields are copied and can be pasted into excel. May be you can use an excel macro to make the chart with the data.
    Try another method
    For the button, give system action "print" with parameter "print screen".
    The whole screen is printed to printer including chart(correctly displayed). You can redirect the print to a file. But i have no idea, what is the format of the  print. may be you can try some picture viewers or do a google search for that

  • Creating pdf report from xml publisher report

    Hi,
    I'm newbie to xmlpublisher env.
    We've a report in Oracle 11i developed in unix shell script and run as concurrent program generating check details which will be printed on checks.
    I was asked to migrate this report into R12 in pdf format.They provided rtf template and xml data.I installed xml publisher desktop.I would like to know how I can create pdf template,if necessary changing the position of fields on the template.
    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
    Sorry to say, but no you can not use the desktop or standalone edition for integration with EBS.
    In your case there are 2 alternatives for you:
    1) Update the Unix shell script so it's ok for R12 (it did a good job for a long time on 11i)
    2) Leave the unix script and redesign for BI Publisher (ebs edition)
    Both are taking the same effort in my opinion, only since you moved to R12 it's a good learning moment to get to know the strength of BIP.
    Since you task is to modify the standard Oracle solution, which i guess is an rtf template provided download the MS Word plugin and adjust the template

  • How to create a FSG report in pdf format

    How to create a FSG report in pdf format?
    Thanks In Advance
    Kris

    Hi,
    There is an enhancement request at user group review to create FSG's in PDF format. However, I transformed the FSG output by using ascii2pdf shareware software (do a search on google.) I created a shell script that did the transformation and emailed the report from Oracle Apps. It seems to work ok.

  • PDF file created from Oracle Report is attached wrongly

    Hi,
    Please help. It is very urgent.
    I am using Oracle Developer 10gR2, Oracle Report 10.1.2 on Windows 2000.
    I would like to attach the PDF file created by Oracle Report to the Notification sent from Workflow.
    I use the following package procedure in my Workflow.
    procedure Create_File_Attachment (document_id   in varchar2, display_type  in varchar2, document      in out blob, document_type in out varchar2)
    is
         l_itemtype          varchar2(100);
         l_itemkey           varchar2(100);
         l_output_directory  varchar2(30);
         l_filename          varchar2(255);
         src_loc             bfile;
         bdoc                blob;
         src_offset          number := 1;
         dst_offset          number := 1;
         amount              number;
    begin
         l_itemtype := substr(document_id, 1, instr(document_id, ':') - 1);
         l_itemkey := substr(document_id, instr(document_id, ':') + 1, length(document_id) - 2);
         l_output_directory := 'USR_TMP_DIR';
         l_filename := Wf_Engine.GetItemAttrText(l_itemtype, l_itemkey, 'ATR_FILENAME');
         src_loc := bfilename(l_output_directory,l_filename);
         dbms_lob.createTemporary(bdoc, FALSE, dbms_lob.call);
         dbms_lob.fileopen(src_loc, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
         dbms_lob.loadblobfromfile(bdoc,src_loc,dbms_lob.lobmaxsize,src_offset,dst_offset);
         dbms_lob.fileclose(src_loc);
         amount := dbms_lob.getLength(bdoc);
         dbms_lob.copy(document,bdoc,amount,1,1);
         document_type := 'application/pdf; name=attach.pdf';
    end Create_File_Attachment;Oracle Report created the PDF file correctly (original.pdf).
    I tried to attach the PDF into my Workflow.
    I can see the file is attached (attach.pdf), but it cannot be opened.
    The Adobe shows : 'A drawing error occured.' each time I open the attachment.
    I compare the original.pdf and the attach.pdf
    However, there is one specific difference
    - in original.pdf, the line started with '.' (single period)
    in attach.pdf, the line is started with '..' (two periods)
    Thus the attachment cannot be opened.
    After I delete the period, it can be opened.
    Question:
    - Has someone ever succeed in attaching the PDF created from Report?
    - Are the codes above is wrong?
    - Or perhaps the DBMS_LOB.LOADBLOBFROMFILE always double the single period on front of the line?
    - Is there any solution on this?
    Note:
    I have succeed in attaching PDF files unless the PDF created by the Report.
    Sorry for the long post.
    Please help. It is very urgent.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Buntoro

    The code looks absolutely good. I have the same code working in my system. Only difference is I use TRUE and DBMS_LOB.Session for the BLOB I use to read from the BFILE.
    I can suggest one more way to handle to binary attachments if you are on Oracle 9i DB are later versions.
    procedure attach_document (p_document_id   in varchar2,
                               p_display_type  in varchar2,
                               p_document      in out nocopy clob,
                               p_document_type in out nocopy varchar2)
    is
      l_nid        number;
      l_directory  varchar2(100);
      l_filename   varchar2(100);
      l_content_type varchar2(100);
      l_src_offset binary_integer := 1;
      l_dst_offset binary_integer := 1;
      l_err_msg    varchar2(100);
      l_amount     number;
      l_bfile BFILE;
      l_blob  BLOB;
      l_clob  CLOB;
      file_not_found exception;
      pragma EXCEPTION_INIT(file_not_found, -22288);
    begin
      l_nid := to_number(p_document_id);
      l_directory := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_DIRECTORY'));
      l_filename := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_FILENAME'));
      l_content_type := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_CONTENT_TYPE'));
      l_bfile := BFILENAME(l_directory, l_filename);
      dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_blob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
      dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_clob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
      begin
        dbms_lob.FileOpen(l_bfile, dbms_lob.File_Readonly);
      exception
        when file_not_found then
          l_err_msg := to_char(sqlcode)||' - Attachment File "'||l_filename||'" is not found.';
          raise_application_error(-20002, l_err_msg);
      end;
      dbms_lob.LoadBLOBFromFile(l_blob, l_bfile, dbms_lob.LobMaxSize, l_src_offset, l_dst_offset);
      dbms_lob.FileClose(l_bfile);
      -- Encode the BLOB content to BASE64 and attach to notification
      wf_mail_util.EncodeBLOB(l_blob, l_clob);
      l_amount := dbms_lob.GetLength(l_clob);
      dbms_lob.Copy(p_document, l_clob, l_amount, 1, 1);
      -- Mention an appropriate Content Type so that Notification System
      -- understands the attachment content
      p_document_type := l_content_type||'; encoding=base64; name='||l_filename;
    end attach_document;Here I read the BLOB from the filesystem and base64 encode it before giving it to the Mailer. Please note that this is a PLSQLCLOB based attachment as against PLSQLBLOB that you are using.
    Thanks - Vijay

    Small update again,
    I skipped using the downloadable oc4j/j2ee and tried using the one that came with 10.2.0.1 installation (patched to 10.2.0.3)
    It starts up fine saying:
    07/03/28 21:31:27 Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (9.0.4.1.0) initialized
    It started up all well with the downloadable latest containers too, but got different errors running the apex_fop.jsp file.
    well with the version that came with the database it says in the PDF file after I tried to generate it from a report:
    Error 500:
    java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file
    Anyone got any idea?

  • Creating PDF report in the servlet

    We have a requirement of creating PDF report in servlet.
    Over all idea of the requirements -
    - Servlet request receives input arguments,
    - JDO fetches data information,
    - need to create form [row and column]
    - send response as outputsream with content type as application/pdf
    Can any one give suggestions on best way to create a form where row and column consist of static text and values fetched from the db?
    There are third party libraries available for creating text table that can be used to design a form in the form of table cells. We do not want to use third party libraries and have dependencies.
    Please let me know, if you need additional info.
    TIA.

    Don't want to use third-party libraries? Then you'll have to write your own code that outputs data according to the PDF specifications. You can download them from Adobe:
    http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/pdf/index_reference.html
    Personally I would recommend the third-party libraries as this is a very large wheel to reinvent.

  • Please help with creating a summary report from data collected in a fillable PDF form.

    I'm sure this has been asked before so I apologize in advance - I'm new to this forum and I'm not quite sure of which section I should be in. If I may just describe a certain scenario of something I am trying to create - could you please point me in the right direction?
    I'm looking to create a summary report/form to help me better organize my patients after each appointment. So data collected from other fillable forms I've created, will lead to the final page to print that will include selections from fillable text boxes or drop down lists, etc to basically summarize each encounter. It should go something like this:
    FORM 1:
    -pt chart #
    -pg age
    -purpose for visit
    -date of visit
    -diagnosis
    -prognosis
    -etc
    SUMMARY page
    On (-date of visit), patient (-pt chart #) arrived with complaint of (-purpose for visit)....
    The diagnosis was determined to be (-diagnosis), treatment to be performed is suggested to be (-treatment) with a (-prognosis) prognosis. Treatment was (accepted or not) and completed on... etc. etc... you get the idea
    Does anyone know how I can do this?
    Thank you all for your time and advice!

    I have downloaded Castor and got some good tutorials, but.......
    There is a problem, when I try to use the Marshaller to get an XML document the following error is reported:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/xml/serialize/XMLSerializer
    I have scanned the Internet looking for a solution, some recommend including Xecers in the Classpath. I downloaded Xerces 2.7.1 and added it to as instructed but this did not work.
    Hope you can help
