Create pulse with 6542 card

Hi just wondering if you can create output pulses that are in sync with a clock in signal input (all TTL) with the 6542 PXI card?  For example control the pulse width and delay with reference to an input clock signal?  If so any examples, thanks.

Hey svt4cobra6,
Do you need the 1 ms pulse to go out on a PFI line? If not, I would recommend using one of the data lines on the 6542 to create your pulse. As smercurio_fc mentioned earlier, you can use the Example Finder, and browse by task, then go to the Hardware Input and Output -> Modular Instruments -> NI-HSDIO (High-Speed Digital I/O) folder. Here is where you can find a lot of examples specific to the HSDIO device you are using. For your application, it sounds like you want to do both generation and acquisition, so check out the folder that says Dynamic Generation and Acquisition. One good one you could use to kind of simulate the device you will eventually hook up is the "Dynamic Generation and Acquisition - Source Synchronous". This example is probably not going to do exactly what you need it to do, but you can get some ideas from it, like how to export a clock with your data, or input a clock from your DUT, and how to use a trigger for when to acquire data.
Now this source synchronous example uses Strobe as the Acq clock, but if you want to generate data based on an external clock, you will probably want to check out the "Dynamic Generation with External Sample Clock" example (found in the Generation -> Non-Scripted folder). If you are basing your pulse off of an external trigger and an external clock, you should check out the Specifications (Start -> Programs -> National Instruments -> NI-HSDIO -> Documentation -> Specifications) of your device for the Delay from trigger to digital data output, to make sure you can account for this if you need to.
For the acquisition of your serial data, that also has a chip enable, you could check out the Dynamic Acquisition Hardware Pause Trigger, if you want to acquire data when your chip enable line is high, and then not acquire (or pause acq) when that line goes low.
Now back to my recommendation for using the data lines as your pulse generator instead of a PFI line, you can use the onboard clock rate, let's say you use the max rate of the 6542, which is 100 MHz, which will generate samples every 10 ns, you can generate 0's until you are ready to output your 1 ms pulse, and then you would generate 1's, as many as you need for your 1 ms. I'll let you do the math. If you don't want to "oversample" this much, then you can slow down your clock rate to maybe 10 times your 1 ms pulse, which you would then output 10x "1's" for your pulse, and then however many 0's before and after your pulse. So basically all you are doing is using data (0's and 1's) to build your pulse. You could also use the Digital Waveform Editor to help you do so. One advantage of using a data line to generate your pulse is that you can vary the pulse width by adding or removing 1's, and when you are running at 100 MHz, you can get 10 ns steps of how much you want to change your pulse width.
Again, there will probably not be a specific example that does your exact example, but by using bits and pieces of the existing examples, you should be able to figure out which functions you will need to do what you want. Finally, if you are just getting started, I recommend not only looking at a bunch of the HSDIO Example programs, but also the NI Digital Waveform Generator/Analyzer Help document (or the online version), as there is a ton of great information in there about your HSDIO device, like how it works, what features it has, and how to program it. I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks, and have a great day.

DJ L.

  • Create double pulse with defined . t_on1 t_off1, t_on2, t_off2

    Good morning everybody!
Can anybody help me with the above mentioned problem? I am using the
pci 6601 timer counter card and would like to create a double pulse with
defined times t_on1 t_off1, t_on2, t_off2, which all are in the us dimension.
    Thanks a lot,
    Andreas

The value of the second counter could be compared to...
The concept is ok, but in real life your comparisons and decisions must happen up in the software level.  Unless you were running a real-time OS, you couldn't get regular deterministic timing of your software execution.  And even in RT, it'd be difficult if not impossible to achieve the micro-second timing you're after.
Note: a double-pulse would be pretty simple to setup using correlated DIO on an M-series board if you've got any budget for data acq hardware...

  • Just got an ipad air and while creating my apple ID with credit card, I got to itunes gift card/ itunes gift section and was asked to supply a CODE to proceed with the form but I don't have the code. please how how can i get the code?

Just got an ipad air and why creating my apple ID with credit card, a CODE was requested in the itunes gift card/ itunes gift in order to preceed with the form but I don't have the code. Please how can I find the code so as to enable me complete the form successfully. Thanks alot

The iTunes gift card field is optional, you don't have to fill it in - leave it blank if you don't have a gift card.
iTunes gift cards are country-specific (they can only be used in their country of issue), and they are not available in all countries - so you might not be able to dill it anyway.

  • Unable to count fast pulses with DAQ(pcmcia card)AI-16E-4, using the example vi

I am using the AI-16E-4 PCMCIA Daq card to count pulses from a device that has an open collector pulse output. I am current just trying it out to see if I can get it to count the pulses correctly before I go ahead and further develop the program. I am using the Example program for counting pulses with this device.
What I am finding is that when I increase the pulse rate above about 20,000hz it slows down and then stops counting pulses. The documentation for this device states the max input frequency is 20mhz, therefor it should be able to count the pulses I am planing on providing. The fastest rate the device I am connected is around 2.mhz. Can someone tell me how to get the AI-16E-4
to count these open collector pulses.

    Hello;
You need, first of all, to provide a pull up resistor for the open collector device, in a way that its high state fits within the TTL levels.
Once that is done, you just connect its output to the counter source input. The device should be able to go up to 20MHz, with no problem.

  • Can I create vhba of 8GB speed with the card M81KR?

    Hi,
Please I need your help to know if I can create vhbas of 8GB speed with mezzanine card M81KR.
    Thanks,

    Hi Padranas,
    Thank you for your response.
    I am confusing about it......
To understand what you said. For example:
    My UCS environment is: Chassis 5108 + 3 Blades B200M2 + M81KR Mezzanine card + 2104xp FEX + 6124xp FI .
We have 2 SAN switch brocade of 4GB speed by FC port connecting to the UCS FI and the Blade server has the service profile configure to use vhba of 4GB speed, I cannot change this configurations. We want to replace the Brocade SAN swtich by 2 new MDS 9148 of 8GB speed by FC port.
Can I be able to reconfigure the vhbas on my environment UCS to work with FC8GB replacing the Brocade switch to MDS?.
Our goal is improve the SAN speed from FC 4GB to FC 8GB.
We have a EMC stroage that support FC 8GB, but it is running to 4GB, because of Brocade SAN switch.
    Thanks for your time.

What do you mean 'give me an example please' ? And 'dont have use a credit card' ?
Unless you follow the instructions on this page when creating a new account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
then you will need to enter credit card details before the account can be used in the store.
If you don't have a credit card then you will need to create a new account, but this time follow the instructions on that HT2534 page when creating it. If you want to use the same email address then you will need to replace it on that account first e.g. via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, http://appleid.apple.com, or by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone.

  • How to create in house distribution provisional profile with wild card?

    Hi,
I have enrolled for iOS enterprise distribution and created distribution certificate and App-id with wild card (e.g. com.companyname.*) from the portal (not from the xcode).
When I am trying to create the in house distribution provisional profile from portal, it is not listing the App-id with wild card. I can only create the profile with explicit App-id. I checked with other enterprise account but they are able to create such profiles.
How can I get in-house distribution profile linked with wild card App-id?
    Thank you.

Did you find a solution for this? I encounter the same issue.

  • How to create 10-up business card design with adobe... perfectly designed business card guidelines

each side of the page has to be equal so the prints can be cut.
    2 x 3.5 cards
also if you guys have any options for printing my first business cards and cutting them myself i would be very grateful
i am very good with photoshop and generally all computer programs. if you need more details feel free to ask.
    thank you.

You can print with multiup, but the pages generally are scaled a bit and that is probably not what you want. A lot depends on how you created the business card. The classic way is to use something like WORD an create multiple copies on the screen. Avery has templates for use with their card stock. Doing this with Acrobat is not a typical workflow, but might be able to be done if you play around with the multiup printing or such, but I would not depend on it.

  • Flex 14 SD card reader not working with larger cards on Windows 8.1

The card reader in my Flex 14 is behaving very oddly. When I insert a 16GB SDHC card it makes the 'USB inserted' noise and the card shows up under device manager but I can't access it through file explorer. The card reader works fine with smaller SD cards that I have. I tried the card in another, Win7 laptop and it worked fine.
I see a number of other people are having a similar problem and I have followed all of the troubleshooting advice I can find, but nothing is working. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
This is what I have tried:
    1. Leaving the card in the camera and attaching the camera via USB cable to the laptop: same result, noise, but can't access the card.
    2. Trying to reassign the drive letter through storage controller: it shows the card but if you right click it to assign it a drive letter it says the 'file is missing'.
    3. Downloaded the Win8.1 x64 driver from Lenovo website and installed. This stopped the card being recognised at all.
    4. Installed the Win8 xc4 driver: this got me back to the noise but no action stage.
    5. Updated Windows.
    6. Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver numerous times both with the card inserted and without it and with restarting the computer after unistall and after reinstall.
    7. Ran Ubunutu from a live USB: This allowed me to see the card and copy its contents to the laptop's HDD.
So it seems to be some incompatibility between the Lenovo drivers and Win8.1. Potentially it's to do with the USB drivers rather than the card reader drivers as the result when using the USB cable and the camera was the same as putting the card in the card reader. Is there a way to update these?
Any other troubleshooting steps I could take?
    Thanks.

    What size are the cards?
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Setting up two  iPod Touches on one account with gift cards for app and in-app purchases

I have multiple devices on one account - 2 iPod classics, one iPhone 3G and two recently acquired iPod Touches for my 8 year old boys.  They want to make in-app purchases (for Dragonville).  They each have their own gamecenter ID.  I want to set up each of them with gift cards for their purchases.  Is this possible?
If not, what is the recommended approach to manage all devices in one place while allowing individual devices to have a seperate payment mechanism?
    Thanks.

    I recommend that you

  • How do I set up analog 0-10 VDC output pulses with varying duty cycles?

I am trying to control a 400 watt laser so that it can pulse on and off within a few milliseconds. The laser controller reads a 0-10 VDC signal, with 0V being 0 watts and 10V being 400 watts. I am using a PCI-6221 DAQ and LabVIEW 8.0.
It seems that all of the examples have square waves that are symmetric about the 0 volt range. I need a square wave that goes from 0-10VDC with different on/off timespans. I would like to have something as follows:
    1) 0 seconds = laser off
    2) .001 to .002 seconds = laser on at full power
    3) .002 to .009 seconds = laser off
    4) Repeat steps 2-3 500 times
    Any ideas?
    Michael Fidler

    Michael,
I ran your code, but was unable to reproduce the problem you are
seeing. I measured the signal in two fashions’. I brought the signal back into
the card (LabVIEW_Square Wave.JPG) and into a benchtop scope (Benchtop
    scope_Square Wave.jpg).
I would like to ask that you run the attached code twice. The
first time, please run it with the analog input as ‘Dev1/_ao0_vs_aognd’. This
take the analog output and compares it with the cards AO ground, therefore eliminating
the need for external connections and simply doing internal routing. The second
time, please run it with the analog input as “Dev1/ai1”, and wire your AO
channel to an AI channel. These tests are to ensure that there is not a stray
capacitance in your scope, the probe, etc. Let me know the results (pictures
    are always great)
