Create Test Image

I'm developing some code to save short videos from multiple cameras.  For testing purposes, I'd like to create a "camera-less" version (so I can develop on my laptop without having any cameras).  I'd like to simulate the camera functions, but am having problems creating (without a camera) a sample image that my code can use.
Using two nested FOR loops, for example, I created a 320 by 240 U8 checkerboard with alternating black and white squares.  What do I need to do to transform this into something that LabVIEW considers an IMAQ image?  I tried doing a Create IMAQ (U8) to get a blank image, passing it to Set Image Size to make it 320 by 240, then wiring in my checkerboard using IMAQ Array to Image.  But if I then look at it by passing the image to WinDraw, it doesn't look "right".
I've tried to search for How to Do this, but have so far not found anything.  Any hints?  Surely this has been already done ...

Never mind -- the test code I was trying to use, in fact, worked perfectly.  I'd made a Bone-Head mistake in programming my test image (I did division "upside down", putting the divisor on top, hence getting out nonsense numbers).  Now works perfectly.

  • Can you create an image map that will link to a different element on the same page?

    I have used image maps before and know how to create an image map to link to a new page.  In this case, however, I want to be able to click on my image using an image map and load a new image with text on the same page as the image map.  Is this even possible?  Is there some sort of behavior that allows you to create same-page links, perhaps using AP divs?  I want the end result to be a type of gallery that loads different images depending on where you click on the main image.
    Again, I don't even know if this is possible.  Any suggestions on how to make this work would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Just had a quick question. Does anyone know how to create an image as a gif or jpeg of a GUI in a program. I want to capture the image to use in a Powerpoint presentation, but have now idea if it is possible to create an image of the graphic user interface.

    screen capture idea and i think i might write one just
    for fun.A creature of fun, yes, but also of practicality. Many years ago I did this type of harness for DOS programming under Turbo Pascal. It was a test suite. The tester would run through the program, and when they saw an error on the page they'd hit a hot key. The harness would come to life, snap the image on the screen, ask for information about the error (change/error, category of error, description, etc), and log it out to file. The file was then sent to the developer who could then use the complementary app to read the file and scroll through the issues/errors at leisure, or just print the entire report. Back the file would go again for the tester to sign off on.
    now that i think about it.. indeed, it wouldn't be bad to recreate this for apps today. JUnit only does so much on the "I know this to be right" arena, and doesn't allow for human understanding of "what's right".

  • Error when creating an image (dmg) using hdiutil

    Hi everybody,
    I´m using a script which creates an image (dmg) from a selected folder.
    This works without errors.
    But I also want to create images from CDs and DVDs using this script. Doing so I always get the error "Only one image can be created at a time"
    I thought that a previous imaging process was not finished yet and I rebooted the Mac. But I still get this error. Any idea?
    Here is the script:
    set Ordner to choose folder
    tell application "Finder"
    set diskNames to name of Ordner
    set myNewPath to POSIX path of (path to desktop folder) as string
    set theListe to every process
    end tell
    set myNewPath to myNewPath & diskNames & ".dmg"
    set Quellordner to POSIX path of Ordner as string
    set Skript to "hdiutil create -srcfolder " & Quellordner & " " & myNewPath
    do shell script Skript
    iMac Core Duo/1,5 GB; MacBook Pro Core2Duo 2GB   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    I believe this has something to do with terminal and have spaces in folder names / disk names. As it sees the space and thinks it is another command and in this case i believe it thinks you are trying to do two or more disk images at once. Therefore it is important to deal with spaces. Thankfully you should be ablr to get around this by using the quoted form command which i have implemented below.
    I repeated your error using a folder called "Cd for Cherie". Folders without gaps such as "pH" worked fine.
    I havent tested this with any disk but i believe if you alter it to this hopefully it will work
    Also the name of the folder wasnt working for me so i altered to to work for me, i am using 10.4.8 so if it doesnt work for you then change it back.
    --Start Code
    tell application "Finder"
    set infor to info for Ordner
    set diskNames to name of infor
    -- display dialog diskNames as string
    --set diskNames to name of Ordner
    set myNewPath to POSIX path of (path to desktop folder) as string
    -- set theListe to every process
    end tell
    set myNewPath to quoted form of (myNewPath & diskNames & ".dmg")
    set Quellordner to quoted form of POSIX path of Ordner as string
    set Skript to "hdiutil create -srcfolder " & Quellordner & " " & myNewPath
    do shell script Skript
    --end code

    From my Photo Collage Toolkit
    Photoshop scripting is powerful and I believe this package demonstrates this A video showing a 5 image collage PSD template  being populates with images:
    The package includes four simple rules to follow when making Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.
    Size the photo collage templates for the print size you want - width, height and print DPI resolution.
    Photo collage templates must have a Photoshop background layer. The contents of this layer can be anything.
    Photo collage templates must have alpha channels named "Image 1", "Image 2", ... "Image n".
    Photo collage templates layers above the background layers must provide transparent areas to let the images that will be placed below them show through.
    There are twelve scripts in this package they provide the following functions:
    TestCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to test a Photo Collage Template while you are making it with Photoshop.
    CollageTemplateBuilder.jsx - Can build Templates compatible with this toolkit's scripts.
    LayerToAlphaChan.jsx - Used to convert a Prototype Image Layer stack into a template document.
    InteractivePopulateCollage.jsx - Used to interactively populate Any Photo Collage template. Offers most user control inserting pictures and text.
    ReplaceCollageImage.jsx - use to replace a populated collage image Smart Object layer with an other image correctly resized and positioned.
    ChangeTextSize.jsx - This script can be used to change Image stamps text size when the size used by the populating did not work well.
    PopulateCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to Automatically populate a Photo Collage template and leave the populated copy open in Photoshop.
    BatchOneImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Collage templates that only have one image inserted. The Collage or Image may be stamped with text.
    BatchMultiImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with images in a source image folder. Easier to use than the interactive script. Saved collages can be tweaked.
    BatchPicturePackage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with an image in a source image folder
    PasteImageRoll.jsx - Paste Images into a document to be print on roll paper.

  • LabVIEW Video Waveform Source from Video Test Image for Multisim simulation

    Hi,
    I want to simulate a video amplifier circuit in Multisim. I need a Composite Video Signal Source for feeding the input to the amplifier. In one of the application note I saw that LabVIEW can be used to create Video Waveform Source from Video Test Image (BMP). I've attached the sheet for reference. My questions are below:
    1. Do I need to create the Video Signal Source in LabVIEW or is it already available with LabVIEW library?
    2. How to call/access this Video Signal Source from LabVIEW for simulation in Multisim?
    3. Any examples available?
    4. Which versions of LabVIEW and Multisim supports this feature?
    Any help is truly appreciated.

    Hi Mahmoud,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I searched for the VI 'Simple create composite signal from BMP image.vi' on internet (since it is named so in the Application Note), but could not find. I've some experience with LabVIEW, so I hope that once I get this VI I can plug-in to Multisim. But in order to add it to 'lvinstruments' folder of Multisim installation directory I need the DLL and LLB file (not the VI, I understand so). If these DLL and LLB files are available I think it will be easier to integrate with Multisim, otherwise I don't know what to do if I have just the VI.
    Anyway attached the complete Application Note.

  • Cannot create disk image iDvd 7.1.2 (multiplex error)

    I'm at my wits end and extremely disappointed.
    Basically, I've gone through the threads that I can find, I'm down to importing a basic movie directly into iDvd.  No menus.  No options enabled (that I'm aware of).
    When I go through the iDvd process of creating a disk image all goes smoothy until the very end when I get a multiplexor error (no error code or text saying why).
    Extremely frustrating.  This is on a new Macbook Pro running 10.7.2.  I don't have problems with my other Apple systems, just this new one.  Perhaps Apple would like to take it back??

    Hi
    Multiplexing Error
    Multiplexing error is a very complex problem due to many things (long long list following) -
    one common but not obvious reason is that material on the iDVD menu goes outside the TV-Safe area (or just touching it).
    So first - turn on TV-Safe area and move any object well inside of this.
    Wide screen stretched - usually (as I think) it is due to making a 4x3 movie in a 16x9 wide-screen project OR the other way around. This forces one to on flat-screen TV (or other) set the presenting view right - My has 4x3, wide-screen, zoom and auto-wide-screen and I have to switch this by my remote for some DVD I've made "wrong" way.
    Now my long long list on Multiplex Error
    LONG LONG LONG LIST
    Multiplexing Error
    PART One.
    Use of strange video/audio material e.g. .avi, .wmv, .mp3 etc.
    I only use.
    Video - StreamingDV (miniDV tape via FireWire) and
    Audio - .aiff (as on audio-CDs) (else converted to this .aiff 48KHz)
    Photo - .jpg (.bmp known problematic)
    Chapters !
    A.    Using strange letters in video project name e.g. +,/; etc. keep to a-z and 0-9 strange letters in project name e.g. +
    as described by Donnyboy69.  Does the title of your project have any symbols or decimal points in it. If so, that is why you are getting the error. I had a project that had a + sign which caused the same problem. I renamed it without the symbol and low and behold, it worked.
    B.    Location of Chapters
    • Can’t be at start or end of movie (Skip first/start one - iDVD sets this by it self. At the End - no need)
    • Not in a transition (or within 2-3 seconds from it)
    Important when from iMovie HD6 or previous - Now also observed when using FCE 4
    PART Two.

    Do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on gray background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
    I always makes a DiskImage first and test this so that it runs OK
    I use only - Verbatim DVDs
    I use only - DVD-R

    This gives good DVDs
    PART Three.
    Multiplex Error
    Chuck, Chicago 2/7/2009.
    Back again. Here is what I have found to work. I also have and use a LaCie DVD-R/RW DL external drive and a LaCie external hard drive as well. Since yesterday I have tried a few ways to burn a themed iDVD project having four 56 minute movies on it, amounting to 226 minutes onto a DVD DL disc, capacity 240 minutes. Apple tech support really didn't know what to do but gave me a very good tip. I had two options left. Apple tech support's tip was to try disc image. One of the replies on a thread with this subject said not to, but my experience today is good. Put your project onto "Burn to disc image," under "iDVD, file." Yesterday encoding took me 23 1/2 hours. Overnight for iDVD disc image, encoding took 21 1/2 hours (again) while I slept. This morning I tried to copy/burn disc image to a DVD with Roxio Toast 7, and it stopped near the end of the burn with some kind of "error" message. So then I tried Utilities> Disc Utility> Burn icon, and followed it through. Be sure to click the DVD DL drive in the window "Burn disc in.". I had one other problem though. At the end of a 46 minute copy, it started to verify, and at the end of verify it rejected the burn. So I tried again, and when "verify" appeared, I clicked on "Skip." The disc finished burning and is doing fine and well. A long and tortuous process, but at last something works. I made several additional copies using Disc Utility. Best wishes. Chuck, Chicago.
    2. Disconnect any other external devices not absolutely needed.
    e.g. external USB/USB2 hard disks, other FW hard disks etc.
    3 Chapter marks in transitions - minimum 2 sec from
    FROM Bev.
    (Not a 'guy' but I will answer!)
    First, I do not think that mixing wide-screen and standard makes a difference in iDVD.
    Second, you should use a better brand of DVD disk. Also, many of us have experienced fewer problems on playback with DVD-R disks. Recommended brands here are Verbatim, Maxell and Taiyo Yuden. Memorex and TDK are not consistent and may not give you a correct burn. They apparently have fewer layers in the composition of the disk. I have always used Verbatim DVD-R disks and have not had any burn problems.
    Also, choose a slower burn speed, 4x or less.
    Third, to determine if the iDVD project will burn properly, create a disk image file (from within iDVD, go File->Save as Disk Image) and test it. Mount the disk image and then open DVD Player (in Applications) and view your project. If it plays correctly, you can then burn the actual DVD disk from the disk image file using Disk Utility.
    From. Boise, Idaho
    I did everything I've seen suggested, but a friend (who used to be an Apple Genius) suggested that I do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on gray background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
    It worked, and I got a clean burn from iDVD.
    Hopefully this can help other people.
    by dheb0422
    Well, I finally got it, and it was odd enough to post here incase anyone looks this topic up again. Many things were tried, including burning the unedited film, the edited film without titles and chapter markers, abbreviating the chapter markers in case length was the issue (remember the old iMovie used to truncate them when moving to iDVD?). In the process, I noticed that one, and only one, chapter marker was on the same line as the title marker. All the others were on the line above. The only way I seemed able to change that was to clip a few seconds of film. After that last clip, the offending marker took a place on the line above, as were all the others. That run published, compiled completely and burned. That's one for the books.
    One user more writes
    To add my experience with Multiplex Errors using iDVD (7.0.4), I recently created two iDVD projects
    Video from both passed from FCE 4.01 with chapters
    One project worked fine in creating disk image file
    The other gave Multiplex Errors
    I tried suggestions to remove special characters and no chapter marks at beginning, but nothing worked
    Note that I've used iDVD for dozens of projects and this is first time I've run into Multiplex Errors
    Anyway, for problem project, I tried an experiment where I removed all chapters in FCE and passed to new iDVD project
    This time multiplex errors gone
    So had something to do with chapters
    So now I tried numerous experiments to remove individual chapters and try again creating disk image with new iDVD project
    After numerous tries, I was able to narrow problem down to 1 "Bad" chapter mark
    That is, when I left the "bad" chapter in my FCE project and passed to iDVD, iDVD gave multiplex error
    When I removed "bad" chapter mark (and others in), no multiplex error
    As a final experiment, I moved "bad" chapter mark about 5-10 sec's beyond original point and passed to iDVD, the multiplex errors now magically went away and I was able to finally create my disk image.
    I have no idea why this worked, but thought I'd mention here in case someone else runs into similar problem.
    Rich839
    In addition to Bengt's fine advice, burning errors can occur if you have located any of your menu buttons wholly or partly outside of the safe TV viewing area. Go to your main project menu, then click on View/Show TV Safe Area, to check. Drag into the safe viewing area any buttons that are outside the safe viewing area.
    Russ One - suggest this
    Multiplex Error-There was an error during muxing preparation
    One thing that worked for me was to export the video w/o chapter markers as a self contained movie (thereby not loosing the edits & etc). Then make a new FCE project and import that movie into a new sequence and add the chapter markers. I've used "-", "&" and "," with no problem in the chapter names. Removing the markers or exporting without them did solve the problem but renaming them with just numbers 1,2,3....5, did not solve the problem and since this problem seems to happen with with iMovie as well, it would suggest the problem is in the video or audio and in combination with the chapter markers iDVD just can't handle it. The only other possibility is that both iMovie and FCE share the same or similar chapter marker code that some how is corrupting the markers.
    Summary - What to try
    1. Chapters
    • Only A to Z and 0 to 9 in chapter title
    • No Chapter mark at very beginning of movie
    • No Chapter mark in or within 2 seconds from any transition in movie
    2. TV-safe area for buttons (no one outside this)
    3. Safe re-boot
    4. No other external devices connected - that are not needed
    SDMacuser adds to this
    • On #4 ... No ext. devices. Some think this applies mainly to ext. FW. Not the case. Also applies to ext. USB2 as well (not to mention flash drives too).
    Do not leave 3rd party devices / camera / camcorder plugged in unless it is being used with iDvd's One Step process. Certain web cams can trigger this also (especially ones with added features like LED light/s that draw additional power from the FW or USB bus).
    5. Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-up hard disk
    6. Make a DiskImage first - reduces where problem originates
    7. Trash iDVD pref. file
    8. Make a new iDVD project
    9. Movies in project with same aspect ratio e.g. 4x3 or 16x9
    10. No other programs/applications running during iDVD process. e.g. Internet, screen & energy savers

  • IPhone SDK: How to create an image from raw data

    Creating a UIImage from some form of bitmap file format is easy, whether you let UIImage load the file itself or create it with an NSData. But what if you have raw bitmap data in memory and you want to create an image?
    In Cocoa NSBitmapImageRep can be created by passing it a pointer to a block of memory and the relevant heigh, width, bit depth etc. information. From that you can easily create an NSImage. There doesn't seem to be anything equivalent on the iPhone. CGImage can be created but it looks like you have to write a CGImageProvider. CGBitmapContextCreate takes a void * to a block of memory. Does it clear that block?
    Is there a good way to do this?

    ElNono wrote:
    You can't do RGB565 on a CGImageRef/CGContextRef. The only 5bpp modes supported are 1555 ARGB or 5551 RGBA. If you just need to display the image, use OpenGL. One of the supported texture formats is RGB565. If you need to save the image then you're going to have to pre-convert it to RGB888.
    hi ElNono , i have test the RGB888 data now , the image can show , but another problem is the image just like serveral picture over lap together , also is blurred , my code is here:

  • Question about Using BufferedImage to create jpeg image

    I was puzzled by a problem about using of class BufferedImage. I want to dynamicly create a jpeg image with bufferedimage, the step is as follows:
    1.create a new bufferedImage object:
    BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage((int)imageWidth, (int)imageHeight, BufferedImage.TYPE_BYTE_BINARY);
    2.get the Graphics object from image:
         Graphics graphics = image.getGraphics();
    3.then draw string and any other graphics with graphics
    4.create jpeg image:
         try {
         FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("c://test.jpg");
         BufferedOutputStream bos = new BufferedOutputStream(fos);
         JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(bos);
         encoder.encode(image);
         bos.close();
         } catch(Exception e) {
         System.out.println(e);
    The problem is that :
    if the graphic width and height is large enough(in my computer, the largest number is 4000*4000,of course it can be 6000*2000, but the total number is limited.), step 1 will be error: OutofMemory!
    I'm worrying about it all day and night.Even though I try all my best,I still can't find what's wrong with it.
    Can you help me--the helpless one?

    Right. 4000x4000x3bytes ("true" color) is 64 mbytes. Your jpeg file might be smaller of course, but it's still going to be a behomoth. The best thing to try is increasing your java runtime size... I've never had to do this, but you can probably find it on this site somewhere

  • How do I Create interactive images to be used in another website?

    Our office is contracted with a simple website company, so from the begining the framework is there. I want to add an interactive map that has each county hyperlinked to information about that area. I was told that Dreamweaver is the program I would need in order to create it.
    So, I have the program now but every tutorial I read is about making your own website in dreamweaver and I can't find anything about how to create the image to upload into a different website.
    Anyone know how to do this????
    Thank you!

    This helps, thanks. I have the content on the web page (where the hyperlinks will attach to), I have the image of the map, and I am making the shapes for the hotspots, just not how to get it all to link up.
    Also, when I saved a trial (just to make sure it would all work) it doesn't successfully upload as an image onto the website, just a little box with a red X. Any more thoughts anyone?

    Canvas c = new Canvas()
    cMyClass oImage = (cMyClass) c.createImage (100, 100);
    and that this worked... I tried to do this too, and it seemed to work, but it actually didn't!!
    I found out that c.createImage returns a null reference!!! That's why Java was able to cast it to my own cMyClass (not a problem to cast a null to something else), but when I created a Image (by doing a lot of unnessacary difficult stuff), and then tried to cast this Image to cMyClass it throw a ClassCastException or something like that...
    How can I cast the java.awt.Image class to my class anyway?
    3)
    Why can't you create a image like i've done above or even like below:
    Canvas c = new Canvas()
    Image oImage = c.createImage (100, 100);
    Why does this return a null reference?
    Isn't there a better way to create an image?
    4)
    The getWidth and getHeight need a I thought observer...? Why is this? I just want the width and height and don't have an observer or something like that. Is there a way around this?
    I tried getWidth(null) but this returns -1
    Please help! :)

    Hi, I've got a couple of questions:
    1)
    How can I fully decompile classes, so with the
    implementation of the methods? Is it always possible
    to fully decompile a class file? When is it and when
    not?You can always get a dump of the bytecode with 'javap -c'. If you don't want to figure things out yourself, try searching google for a class file decompiler, possibly a de-obfuscator.
    De-compilation is completely possible if the original author wanted that, by including debugging information. Depending on the degree of such information and the amount of code obfuscation, the decompiled code may lack variable names, line numbers, field and method names, class names, and even code structure. Names and line numbers are usually not re-creatable automatically, since the information is simply lost, but you can replace them with your own strings when analyzing an unknown class file (using the correct tools). Re-creating the original code structure may work in some cases, but to me the general case looks rather close to the halt problem (i.e. not solvable).
    Use a de-obfuscator, hope you've got good luck, and analyze the bytecode manually if that doesn't work.
    2)
    I aks this questions before, but I still haven't got
    it working, so sorry, but I ask it again :) :
    I want to create my own class, for example cMyClass
    which extends the java.awt.Image class, which has
    abstract methods. How do these methods(for example
    getGraphics etc) have to be implemented?I don't really understand the problem. 'abstract' means on the language level that your subclass must provide an implementation, i.e. a method body. What that method is expected to do is explained in the javadocs for Image. But in fact you're free to do anything. You could play a sound in the getWidth() method (replace with any method name if you want). Just consider the fact that a lot of code calls getWidth in the hope of getting the width of the image, not playing a sound. So much about the language level.
    On a higher level, a subclass of Image should implement a certain way to describe an image. AFAIK this means that your code must know the size of the image and know how to produce the pixels of the image. I can't tell you in general how you must do this, because it depends on your special case. This boils down to the question, why do you want to write a subclass of 'Image'? What new way of describing and image have you come up with?
    3)
    I can't cast a Image to cMyClass... why not?Simple, and that's certainly not an ALT. Because that specific Image is not a cMyClass. It's probably a BufferedImage or similar that was produced by AWT.
    Please read the specs carefully what casting is about.
    Someone told me he did the following:
    Canvas c = new Canvas()
    cMyClass oImage = (cMyClass) c.createImage (100,
    100);
    and that this worked... I tried to do this too, and it
    seemed to work, but it actually didn't!!
    I found out that c.createImage returns a null
    reference!!! That's why Java was able to cast it to my
    own cMyClass (not a problem to cast a null to
    something else), but when I created a Image (by doing
    a lot of unnessacary difficult stuff), and then tried
    to cast this Image to cMyClass it throw a
    ClassCastException or something like that...
    How can I cast the java.awt.Image class to my class
    anyway?You can't, and if you understood casting then you'd understand that it wouldn't make sense.
    3, 4(don't know)
    Maybe stupid question, but for example the BufferedImage, is this
    completly written in Java?
    How is the link made between the OS+hardware and the Java code? I
    mean, displaying images etc. is very platform dependend not?Look for JNI (Java Native Interface). It's a way to link native (e.g. C) code with Java code.

  • Unable to create Disc Image from DVD

    I get the following error when trying to make a copy of a family wedding DVD. I'm using Disc Utility and creating the image as a DVD/CD master (.cdr) file. It gets to about 3/4 of the way and then gives the following error.
    The internal drive is a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K05
    Sep 10 22:13:24: Disk Utility started.
    Creating Image “Wedding of xxx & xxx.cdr”
    Reading VOLUME_IDENTIFIER (Apple_UDF : 0)...
    Unable to create “Wedding of Sarah & Federico.cdr” - Input/output error.
    I've tried twice now and the same error. Looks like I might have to use Toast/Popcorn etc?
    Thanks,
    Darren
    iMac G5 2.1GHz 1Gb RAM 260Gb HDD   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    I do not know what that error means. However, if you open up the Disk Utility & go into it's Help Menu & in the search field type duplicating a CD or DVD. There you will find detailed instructions on how to create a disc image from a DVD.
    Good possibility your answer may be found there and/or there may have been something you missed in creating a disc image.
    Good luck.

  • How can I create an image gallery with "next" buttons?

    So I am almost done with my portfolio site (YES!)..now I just need the actual content (the images). My site is written in AS3.
    I've watched many tutorials on how to create an image gallery (auto scrolling ones, scrolling ones that require mouse hover, etc etc), but those aren't what I am looking for.
    I want a gallery that looks exactly like this one here:
    http://jalbum.net/res/help/integrating-tutorial.html
    I have a lot of work to display in my porfolio so there must be arrows at the end of the thumbnails so I can add more stuff. So I am just stumped on how to make the image gallery work with the ability to scroll for more photos with the click of the arrows.
    Any ideas? Thank you.

    Watching tutorials and learning from them are two different things.  If you have learned from them you should be able to use what you have learned to devise a gallery such as the one you link to.  If you have learned from them and cannot use what you learned, then you probably need to find/learn more.
    If you study the design you linked you should be able to reason out what elements you need to devise... it is not overly complicated.
    For the large picture you could have a Loader into which you load whatever image is selected from the thumnails. To get a brief transition you could just set the alpha of the Loader to 0 when an image change is occuring and gradually fade it in after the image has loaded.
    The greatest challenge you are likely to face is in getting the thumbnails to advance back and forth depending on which is selected.  All of the thumbs would be placed in a container (movieclip or sprite) and that would be masked so that only a portion of them is visible.
    All thumbs that are not selected have their alpha property set to some value less than 1.  Selecting one calls for the file it associates with to be loaded into the Loader.  If the choice happens to lie off screen, then you need to move the movieclip that contains all of the thumbs some set value in the right (+x) or left (-x) direction.
    If you want the thumbnails to wrap infinitely then when one leave the thumbnails area for movement in a direction, you need to take that thumb and relocate it to the other end of the thumbs in the container.
