Create view failing
Hi ,
I have created public dblink and want to create view by dblink,but i am getting below error,please help me how to create such view
ORA-22992 cannot use LOB locators selected from remote tables. i have created db public dblink "emp_db_link" and using below command for creating view
create view emp_view as select * from emp_table@emp_db_link;

How to CREATE VIEW to merge two tables each of which has CLOB-typed column
I failed in creating a view to merge two tables that have CLOB-type column each.
The details are:
Database: Oracle 9i (9.2.0)
Two tables "test" and "test_bak", each of which has the following structure:
ID Number(10, 0)
DUMMY VARCHAR2(20)
DUMMYCLOB CLOB
The following operation fails:
create view dummyview (id, dummy, dummyclob) as

ORA-00932: inconsistent data type: required - , but CLOB presented.
But if creating views from only ONE table with CLOB-type columns, or from two tables WITHOUT CLOB-typed columns, the creation will succeed. The following 1) and 2) will succeed, both:
1) one table, with CLOB-typed column
create view dummyview (id, dummy, dummyclob) as
select id, dummy, dummyclob from test;
2) two tables, without CLOB-typed columns
create view dummyview (id, dummy) as
select id, dummy from test
union
select id, dummy from test_bak;
I want to merge the two tables all, with complete columns, how to write the CREATE VIEW SQL statement?

But you could do this:
SELECT source.*, nvl (tab1.clob_column, tab2.clob_column)
FROM your_table1 tab1, your_table2 tab2, (
SELECT primary_key, ...
FROM your_table1
UNION
SELECT primary_key, ...
FROM your_table2
) source
WHERE source.primary_key = tab1.id (+)
AND source.primary_key = tab2.id (+)
In other words, do the set operation (UNION (ALL)/INTERSECT/MINUS) on just the PK columns before pulling in the LOB columns.

Non-sense error message trying to create view
Greetings All,
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production on Windows 2008R2
I am getting an error while trying to create a view. The error makes no sense in that no attempt to change a user name or password as the error message being produced suggests.
I can execute the entire select statement fine, I get results back.
If I comment out the line indicated as being in error, the problem moves to the line prior to the one commented out. The 4 lines prior to the line indicated by the error message are similar. The error is occurring on the last of the 5 similar lines of code.
If I move all 5 lines further up in the code the error moves accordingly.
The function validate_number (near where the error is identified) under certain conditions will issue a execute immediate 'alter session set nls_numeric_characters = ''.,''';
The column number identified in the error message is 2 spaces prior to the validate_number function call.
Below is the syntax for the creation of the view, the error message is at the bottom.
The numbers to the far left indicate the line number. I put 2 blank lines before and after the line of code identified by the error message.
The error points to the 2-spaces in front of the VALIDATE_NUMBER function call on line 350. just before the sql code ==> validate_number(Spend_Qty,'')),0) <==

User has create view and create any view.
Also has alter session privilege which is needed within the validate_number function (see below).
I was able to create the view you suggested.

I have checked .log files SAPxxxx.log (SAP0000, SAPAPPL0, SAPAPPL1, ...) but there isnt any entry with VBAK.
When I entered under <sid>adm command: db2 describe table sap<sid>.VBAK it takes a long time wihtout any result.

Create View from Database Links - Question
Question
I'm missing something simple.
I'm trying to create a view, from a Database Link.
CREATE VIEW view_name
AS SELECT a.*
FROM schema.tablename@dblink a;
When I run this in the SQL Commands window.
I get this error message.
ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended

1) User (schema) which is creating view must have proper db_link to source database. For that try this for testing purpose:
select 1 from [email protected]<br>
If this fail then db_link is not ok! This step is absolute must to go any further step to!!!

2) when db_link is set, then your view should be named as:
CREATE VIEW vw_name
AS SELECT *
FROM <b>schema_name</b>.[email protected];<br>
please pay attention to "schema_name", because from remote side every table is in some schema so it really need declaration of owner schema.

Table aliases while creating views in KM

While executing an interface I noticed that it failed on the LKM step -
Create View on Source
(LKM MSQL to MSQL)
On investigation, I found the error was because of an in invalid alias (alias created was a sql server keyword) that ODI had assigned to the source table. I extracted the code from the KM and I am hoping someone could direct me on how I could modify the KM so that the alias ODI creates is different from what its currently set to.

MNMN you dont need to modify the KM , when you click on the required Datastore , you will find the alias name , there change it accordingly or in the Datastore itself. I think that should help you .

Hi everyone,
I'm new to OBIEE. My requirement is i need to apply different filters to each columns in a report. But if i apply any filter it is applying to all the columns.
For example, My report column is something like
StudentsPassed || StudentsFailed || StudentsTrasnfered
So i need to look up on a status column and need to show only a particular result based on the status column. But if i select for status=StudentsPassed then in all three column im getting only students passed.
So what i did is i created individual views for each column. i.e View1 will hold the list Students Passed view2 will hold only list of Students Failed. But now i need to generate many reports of same type. So i don't think it is a best idea to create views for each columns in a report in the database level.
Is there any method to do this?
Is there any method to store only Students Passsed list in a logical column in the Administration level?
Please provide some help.

This is normal error, you must use measure in FILTER (USING), you are using maybe foreign key in count distinct or some other columns that is not a measure.
1. If you like to use FILTER (USING) go to RPD, BMM and make new measure, etc MEASURE2=count(distinct student_id), etc.
Then applied this MEASURE2 in FILTER(MEASURE2 USING (VEE_TOTAL.STATUS = 3.00)

Query:
1. I could create users earlier connecting to the same OID. Is there any change in OID creating this issue?
2. I could not find this attribute in OID. Is this a default parameter available in OID?
3. I could not find this attribute in OIM as well (Customer fields for Manage Users) . How can i find this parameter in OIM?
Any help to resolve this error?

Is it possible to grant users to create views only?
We are using SQL Server 2008 R2.
Some advanced users have been working on the database to retrieve data from tables and alter existing views for years. Now we would like to give them permissions to create their own views.
It is not supposed to give them too much rights such as creating tables. Is it possible to do that, such as creating new schema for that purpose. Thanks.You left out an important step that we failed to mention: you muist change the order of the schema. This is required, or else ownership chaining will void all security checks.
In script below, you get a permission error trying to create the first view, but comment out the ALTER AUTHORIZATION statement and it will not.
Using a loginless user and EXECUTE USER is an execellent way to test a permission setup on database level.

Without "ALTER AUTHORIZATION" statment, user can create SchemaTest.v_MyView and select all data.

The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'MyTable', database 'ViewTest', schema 'dbo'.
Maybe I still miss something. But at least user cannot retrieve protected data. -
Create Repository Failed -- Why?
When I try to create a respository it fails and only gives a script execution failed error message. When I look at the tables for the user, a bunch of MD_ tables have been created. However, if I try to select the repository, an upgrading wait dialog comes up and never completes. Any thoughts?
This is something I am looking into right now. We did not have checks around permissions granted so that a user could install a repository.
I've seen this problem a few times and it is related to the permission your user has when they create the repository.
We stipulate that you need CONNECT, RESOURCE and CREATE VIEW privileges on the user before you try to create the repository.
This will install the repo and install the version information into the tables. However, if it doesnt, the end of the script never gets run and the version info never gets inserted so we have the infinite loop going on. this is fixed and will be available in the next release. In the meantime, give your user the privs above and you will be able to create the repo.

I came across the same problem. My situation is as follows:
Installation of Sneakpreview NW 04 SP 16, the one with problems in step 6, then exchanged the database version with the one from before ( 7.5.0 Build 018-123-079-776 )
Installation is successful, everything seems fine.
I create users, setup SLD, etc.
Finally I setup a simple track with a SC, define a runtime system.
Then I try to download configuration from NetWeaver Developer Studio. And I end up with the error in the logs that you can see at the end of this.
Ok, some table or view is missing. I reinstall the whole thing. This time I check for the table right after the installation. It is not there! But jload.log written during installation claims it has been loaded successfully:

No - you aren't missing anything.
Views can be dependent on tables, other views, procedures, functions, packages, synonyms. Each of those can have its own dependencies which will now include object types, database links and others. The dependency chain looks like a tree.
In general it isn't always possible to generate everything in 'dependency' order since objects can be dependent on many other objects of different types and you can have situations where there are circular references. -
Problem with embeding the same view in dynamically created view container

I am getiing a dump when i try to embed the same view inside the dynamically created view container of
dynamically created tabs of a tabstrip
The requirement go like this, i have 2 views in which i have have to embed the 2nd view to view1 where i have an empty
tabstrip without tabs. During runtime i create tabs as well as view containers accordingly and then try to embed view2 in tabs.
I have put the below mentioned code in HANDLEIN,

This works fine for the first time.
However onaction tab select i change the embeding position( 'FILE_PERS_EDIT/view container name of different tab') of the view2 an try to embed view2 in a different tab.
At this point i get a dump stating View2 already present in the window 'FILE_PERSISTENCE_WND' of component.
I think, the view2 embediing has to be removed before i add the view2 in a different tab
Kindly let me know how to remove view2 embedding from tab1 before i add a view2 to a different tab or is there any other
means to handle this problem?

Create view and alter Session gets 0RA-01031
I can't create a view after using ALTER SESSION set current_schema without using an explicit schema. I get ORA-01031. Is this a known bug? Here are the details:
1. Log on as SYSTEM
2. ALTER SESSION set current_schema=FRED;
3. CREATE VIEW vFoo as select * from Foo; -- ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
4. CREATE VIEW FRED.vFoo as select * from Foo; -- this works!
I've read where some privileges need to be granted directly. In fact, if Fred grants select privilege on Foo to SYSTEM, the statement in #3 above works. However, something doesn't seem right because why does #4 succeed without the GRANT?
In case you're wondering why I don't just use #4 above, which does work, it's because I've got a script that will be run by customers to create tables, views, etc. in an arbitrary schema and the schema is associated with a user with limited permissions.
