Create workspace in Oracle 11g + APEX 2.2 fails

Anybody come across this one?
I have Oracle 11g database installed where I have removed APEX 3.0 and downgraded to APEX 2.2 (due to my clients not having upgraded yet).
I'm using the embedded PL/SQL gateway in the Oracle XML DB HTTP server.
Navigating to APEX login page and logging in as ADMIN is OK but when I want to create a new workspace (based on existing schema) it returns following error:-
ORA-20001: Request 824807541251920 could not be processed. -20001 ORA-20001: Unable to grant initial privs. ORA-20001: Error with: GRANT CREATE JOB TO "IPP" ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
I followed the post-installation steps that came with the installation guide of 11g but they really apply to APEX 3.0. Should I not have done that and instead followed the APEX 2.2 post-installation steps? Those are not clear however on configuring the embedded HTTP server.

SOLVED.
All I needed to do was log in as system and:-
GRANT CREATE JOB TO FLOWS_020200 WITH ADMIN OPTION
Not sure why it was missing though.

  • Create tablespace in Oracle 11g

    Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit OS)
    Oracle 11g R2 Standard Edition ONE(64-bit database)
I use the following Oracle command to create tablespace in 11g.
    CREATE TABLESPACE TEST_TBS
    DATAFILE
    'C:\ORACLE\ORADATA\TEST_TBS01.DBF' SIZE 5M
    AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 5M
    MAXSIZE 50000M;
    - The above command works fine.
Is there any better commands i need to be using in creating a tablespace w.r.t. performance and management.

it is recommended to have small sized blocks for OLTP, and big sized for DSS. The reasons:
You can try different block sizes in tablespaces...
On OLTP, a smaller block size reduces contention:
    1. Reduces the possibility of concurrent transaction and locks on the same block.
    2. Provides a better locking mechanism
    3. Less transacction locks possibilities at the block header.
DSS benefit from big blocks mainly because of IO:
    1. Retrieves in less IO operations more data, which is critical for FTS and index scans.
    2. A higher row density means less IO
    3. Indexes retrieve information on a block per block basis, with big blocks indexes are retrieved with less IO
    4. Reduces the chances of chained rows.
Check the following link for examples and details information. If johnpau needs a 50G file he has no choice: 16K blocks is the only option.
But that advice about different blocksizes is very twentieth century. Nowadays, it doesn't matter.

    Hi
I installed Oracle 11g on my Windows XP system

then i logged into this console by the username SYS/SYS@orcl as SYSDBA
then i opened the SCHEMA tab
but here i didn't found any link like "USERS" to create/manage users
How can i create the users..?

With the help of your link "admqs_administer_users.htm"
i found that bold "Users" link in "Server" tab bold
but right now i am getting the error "ora-01301: insufficient privilages"
then i granted the 'create user' privilege to SYS
error is coming..If you have properly logged on as SYS, as shown by the 'Logged in as SYS' note in the upper right corner, you should not be getting the 1301. Try logging out and following the steps in the document I gave you starting at chapter 1.

  • Oracle 11g install failure, error, Failed to allocate port(s)

I'm having a very hard time reinstalling Oracle 11gR1 x64 bit after the hard drive where I first installed it failed and had to be replaced. The database I'm trying to setup is for personal use on this system only. I'm running Windows XP professional 64 bit edition and have .net framework version 1.1.4322.573 installed.
During installation the process hangs at the Database Configuration Assistant stage and will not progress till I manually end the lsnrctl.exe process in taskmanager. During the completing database process at the end I get this error -
    SEVERE: Failed to allocate port(s) in the specified range(s) for the following process(es): JMS [5540-5559],RMI [5520-5539],Database Control [5500-5519],EM Agent [3938] | [1830-1849]
My first thoughts were the ports in question were in use or closed but I've been using both netbios and a port monitor program called currports to check and as far as I can tell the ports listed are open and not in use.
I did reconfigure the tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files to include valid port addresses (1521) and I can get the lsnrctl.exe to start manually now but still can't connect to the database using an open SQL command prompt.
I also tried running the emca.bat but still no change. I need help, I'm beating my head against the wall now.

  • Oracle 11g Database Prerequisites Check Failed

hi all, i need to install the oracle 11g database on my D drive but the check was failed where the check take place in C drive. Therefore, i just skipped it.
I do meet all the requirement but still failed, why ?
During the oracle database 11g, there are some components which cannot be found like em.war, em.ear, drluln.sql.sbs, system-application.xml, system-jazz-data.xml .
What is the error about ?
Is it possible to install ?
    Thanks.

Pl post details of your OS version, along with which 11g version you are trying to install. Are you following the steps in the official installl Guides - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/documentation/database-093888.html ?
I am not sure why you are acting surprised that the install was not successful when you are ignoring install warnings/errors :-)
As indicated in the thread link above, have you downloaded and unzipped both of the install zip files into the same directory ?
Pl also post relevant sections from the install log that show what prereq checks have failed.
    HTH
SriniI copied the disk 2 component into disk 1 component folder where the installation is successful but prerequiresite still failed where i just ignore where i have set all the env variable.
By the way, thanks for your reply.

  • Cannot create Workspace in Oracle 10g 10.2.0.1

I get following error when trying to create new workspace on new or existing schema. HTMLDB is a new installation using the companion cd of Solaris 64bit 10.2.0.1.
ORA-20999: (DBCP) No privilege to alter or create TRIGGER BI_DEMO_USERS in WEBDEV by HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER. (WEBDEV is an existing schema).
    Has anyone faced this problem?

The error seems clear to me. It is trying to find a non-existent file. Did you check what your file names are in the data file and if the related files exist?

    hi,
you can't determine digit for int
and I think you should replace float with number and varchar with varchar2

If you are sure you have newer versions you may try
    runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs .
That bypasses the pre-checks. But there's a risk even more severe errors will occur later.

  • Remove Application Builder while creating  workspace in Apex

    hi,
am using apex in 11g database,am creating a workspace but it contain application Builder,Sql Workshop and Utilities..
My objective is i want only sql workshop no need Application builder and utilities while creating workspace in Oracle Apex.
    guide me
    regards
    apex

Ummm... OK. But why? If you only need a SQL tool why not use SQLDeveloper or some other tool? Is it that you want a web browser interface?
It would be very unwise to try to remove the applications you mention from the apex installation. This is probably possible but potentially very risky as the stability of your apex installation is concerned.
You might want to try taking a CSS approach and hide all the stuff you don't want to see via a custom CSS file that you could put in your installation.
    Earl
P.S. If you're going to ask how to do this then it's probably not something you're ready to do.

  • Oracle 11g native web services

Is there any formal explanation about how to configure and create Oracle 11g native web services and how to correctly secure these services? Since Oracle APEX now supports consumption of SOAP and REST web services, it makes sense to have more explanation about creating and securing web services. As many PL/SQL programmers know, it is always not an easy job to develop web services in jDeveloper to work with databases - with all those add-on technologies like jPublisher/Toplink to get tiny things work. It is not easy to find the "how-to" guide about creating and securing Oracle 11g native web services.
    Thanks.
    Andy

Thanks for the link Tim...it is very useful. I was told that, in APEX 4.2, it will become able to create RESTful web services through APEX - if you run APEX through APEX Listener - by using resource templates in APEX Listener. I will wait for more information about this feature to come out.
    Thanks.

  • Oracle 11g R2 on HP and Solaris

    Hello All,
In the Last Week i was installing Oracle 11R2 on two HP servers and one Solaris server. i faced common issues on the three servers and i posted threads about some of these issues.
But i want to summarize it so i know the solution of each one in order not to face it again.
    Below is the info
I have 3 servers, two of them are HP where Oracle 10g is installed and one Solaris server where i am doing the Oracle installation for the first time.
On the 3 servers and when i was installing Oracle 11g R2 the installation failed at the end when it was trying to create the db with this error: the file Seed_Database.dfb containing the datafiles information is missing.
knowing that i download it Oracle 11g R2 from the Oracle website for the three server. Why this file is always missed ? and even now and after i created a custom database manually (Not during the installation) i can't create a "general purpose db" through dbca because it needs this template file.
while creating the database on the 3 servers and on step 4 of 12 of the tab related to OEM is disabled. and the emctl is not automatically configured after the creation of the db. why this tab is always disabled on step 4 of 12?
    Regards.

On the download pages (such as http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-sparc64soft-088481.html) you will see cksums listed - you need to verify cksums to ensure that your download is not corrupted.

SriniI would think if the download were corrupted, as evidenced by a mis-match in the checksum, he probably never could have unzipped it, much less actually ran an install that simply didn't create some of the stuff he wanted.

  • Oracle 11g Logical Standby not Replicating Security?

    Hello,
I found that our Oracle 11g logical standby database stopped replicating security commands anymore since it was created as a Oracle 11g database. The security commands are related to users, roles and profiles such as create/alter/drop user, etc. The 11g logical standby database has no problem replicating other commands. Is this normal change with Oracle 11g logical standby? I know Oracle 10g logical standby can replicate those commands. The Oracle 11g logical standby was created the same way as Oracle 10g logical standby. We don't skip security commands on purpose. Anyone who got Oracle 11g logical standby has the same issue? We would like logical standby database to be able to replicate security. If it is normal for Oracle 11g logical standby to stop replicating security, is there a way to make Oracle 11g logical standby still replicates security?
    Thanks!

had you started apply using this syntax
    real time apply
    alter database start logical standby apply immediate;
    check lag:
    alter session set nls_date_format='dd/mm hh24:mi';
    select newest_time || chr(22)|| newest_scn||chr(10)||applied_time||chr(22)||applied_scn||chr(13)||chr(16)||(newest_scn-applied_scn) lag from dba_logstdby_progress
