CreateJS "Empty Symbol" Error

I've installed the CreateJS toolkit in Flash CS6, and I'm getting several "empty symbol" errors when try to publish the Flash file to HTML5 using the toolkit. Most of the symbols export fine -- it's just a handful that don't -- and I can't figure out why. (The symbols that work and the symbols that don't work are essentially essentially identical, and all of them were originally created as graphic symbols in Illustrator and then imported into the Flash library). The file exports fine as a SWF, but I need to convert it to HTML5 to include in an iPad app. Any tips you can offer would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

Hi Gen,
Unfortunately, the error came from a client who was submitting a form via Mac OS.  He stated that when he attempted to submit he received a symbol error.
On another note, I did experience issues with periods (.) within another form such as 2009.01 and 2011.25.  When I downloaded the files corresponding to the numbers, it wouldn’t allow me to save it with the period (used an underscore instead).
Warmest regards,
Delia

  • Help.. incompatiable type and cannot resolve symbol error...

    I have this class Box
    class Box{
         private int width;
           private int height;
           private int depth;
           private int BoxCounter;
         public void click()
         BoxCounter = 0;
    }and in my main code, I'm calling it via
    private Box arrBox[];All this goes fine until I try to place code in to make array empty upon a selected action by
    if (color == blue) {arrBox = new Box();}Here I'm getting the error saying that its an incompatible type... it says I have Box but it requires class Box[]...(the ^ pointing at the word "new")
    also, I have this
    public void button()
    arrBox.click()
    }This returns the unable to resolve symbol error (the ^ points at the dot).... I tried changing things around but the problem persists, can someone point out where I hv gone wrong?
    Many thanks

    private Box arrBox[];The line above does not create an array, it only declares that the variable arrBox can refernce an array of type Box. Arrays are objects just like Box - you need a new Box[10], for example, to create the array.
    if (color == blue) {arrBox = new Box();}
    Here I'm getting the error saying that its an
    incompatible type... it says I have Box but it
    requires class Box[]...(the ^ pointing at the word
    "new")As previously stated, arrBox is a reference to an array of Box, not an object instance of Box.
    A lot of your trouble can be resolved by understanding how arrays work in java. Try here.
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/data/arrays.html
    You must create an array similar to creating any object. Next, you must create objects to go inside the array. It's difficult without knowing the rest of your code, but here goes.
    private Box[] arrBox = new Box[10];
    for(int index=0;index<arrBox.length;index++)  {
       int color = getColor(index); //I'm making this up
       if(color == blue) arrBox[index] = new Box();
    }The above code will create a new Box for any index where the color is blue. The indices where the color isn't blue are equal to null.

  • "undefined symbol" error while using a custom instrument driver

    Hello all, I'm facing a problem related to instrument driver creation.
    I want to pack a part of my code to a .FP to be able to reuse it in other applications of mine. This part of code includes calls to Windows API and a third party dll. I have included both windows.h and the include for the dll in the header file for the instrument. I developed the source code and next a little application that simply calls one function to test the result of my work, but I get some 'undefined symbol' errores while linking the test application with the instrument. The instrument header file is included in program source file.
    Situation is as follows:
    I can run the test application if I include the source file for the instrument directly in the project (without loading the instrument)
    I created a static library and can have the test program up and running if directly including the library in the project (again without the .fp file)
    I get linker errors when trying to use the instrument I created based on the same code, both when including the instrument at source code level and when including at library level. Adding the .fp to the project makes no difference
    Linker errors are all related to WinSDK and third-party dll functions.
    Question is: where and how I have to declare the symbols apart including the appropriate .h files in the instrument header file?
    Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.
    My contributions to the Developer Zone Community
    If I have helped you, why not giving me a kudos?

    Being waited on to log on... how flattering
    I wish I had a simple and obvious solution, but I don't.
    The problem in this case is that, whereas DLLs (via their import libraries) carry no additional build-time dependencies to their clients, that is not the case with object files and static libraries: any project that uses those .obj and .lib files must satisfy all of their dependencies when that project builds.
    There is a mechanism, with .fp files, to advertise such dependencies to the clients of the .fp, and that is the auto-load list (Edit>>FP Auto-Load List, in the function tree editor). The caveat, however, is that these indirect dependencies must have a companion .fp that you can add to this list. And in your case, you don't have one. So the only solution I can think of is for you to create a very thin wrapper module where you would wrap all of the SDK functions that you need, then create a basic .fp for this wrapper -- you can do this semi-automatically, from the header file (Options>>Generate Function Tree) -- and then add this .fp to the auto-load list of your primary .fp. And then you'll probably have to create a second .fp wrapper for your other dependency (a non-SDK third-party DLL?).
    Once you have declared the dependency chain for this .fp, you should then be able to use it on any test application and CVI should know to link in these additional static libraries whenever it builds the test application.
    If you choose to go this route, you'll probably have to deal with a bunch of non-standard data types in the parameters of the SDK functions. I don't remember if these are automatically added to the .fp when you create it from the header file. If not, all you need to do is add them to the .fp  later (Options>>Data Types, from the function panel editor). Don't worry about providing the definitions for these data types. They're not necessary. You just need to make sure that their names are in the list.

  • Cannot resolve symbol error even with class imported

    Hi
    I'm trying to print out a java.version system property but keep getting a
    cannot resolve symbol error
    symbol: class getProperty
    location: class java.lang.System
    I've looked at the API and getProperty() is a method of lang.System
    Can anyone throw any light?
    thanks
    import java.lang.System;
    class PropertiesTest {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
                String v = new System.getProperty("java.version");
                 System.out.println(v);
    }

    Thanks Jos
    It compiles but I now get a runtime error
    Exception in thread "main"
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:PropertiesTest
    What do you reckon is the problem?
    thanks
    java -cp .;<any other directories or jars>
    YourClassNameYou get a NoClassDefFoundError message because the
    JVM (Java Virtual Machine) can't find your class. The
    way to remedy this is to ensure that your class is
    included in the classpath. The example assumes that
    you are in the same directory as the class you're
    trying to run.I know it's a bad habit but I've put this file (PropertiesTest.java) and the compiled class (PropertiesTest.class) both in my bin folder which contains the javac compiler

    I having problems with a cannot find symbol error. I cant seem to figure it out.
    I have about 12 of them in a program I am trying to do. I was wondering if anyone could help me out?
    Here is some code I am working on:
    // This will test the invoice class application.
    // This program involves a hardware store's invoice.
    //import java.util.*;
    public class InvoiceTest
         public static void main( String args[] )
         Invoice invoice1 = new Invoice( "1234", "Hammer", 2, 14.95 );
    // display invoice1
         System.out.println("Original invoice information" );
         System.out.println("Part number: ", invoice1.getPartNumber() );
         System.out.println("Description: ", invoice1.getPartDescription() );

    // change invoice1's data
         invoice1.setPartNumber( "001234" );
         invoice1.setPartDescription( "Yellow Hammer" );
         invoice1.setQuantity( 3 );

         System.out.println("Price: ", invoice1.getPricePerItem() );
         System.out.println("Invoice amount: ", invoice1.getInvoiceAmount() );

  • How to recover when Delta Queues have been emptied by error ?

    Hi All,
    Here is our problem : the ECC Delta Qs have been emptied by error some days ago, and for the moment we have frozen every BW updates from ECC, but the Delta Queues have been being filled in ECC since that.
    We have so smart ideas so far...
    Thx 2 all in advance

    Hello ThoLei ,
    In case your normal delta is running file in BW and the only thing you are concerned about is the data missed during the day when the queue got deleted, then yes you can go ahead with Repair Full option. If you refresh the missing data and no need to worry about delta.

    Hello everyone. I have gone throught my whole
    program and I am still getting a cannot find symbol
    error. "Symbol" here means variable or method name (or maybe class name, but I think it will specifically bitch about classnames in that case).
    String foo = "foo";

    colorPanel.setbackgroundColor(new backgroungColor(color));Looks like colorPanel or setbackgroundColor(new backgroungColor doesn't exist.
    Note that spelling and capitalization count. Java's really anal that way.

  • Cant find symbol error

    why am i getting this "can't find symbol error" in relation to class Function?
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
    public class MYPA5
         public static void main ( String [] args )
              Function myF = new Function( );
              double Func1 = myF.getSum( );
    class Functinon
         double x;
         String coeffa = JOptionPane.showInputDialog( null, "Give the first Coefficient");
       double a = Double.parseDouble(coeffa);
         String coeffb = JOptionPane.showInputDialog( null, "Give the second Coefficient");
         double b = Double.parseDouble(coeffb);
         String coeffc = JOptionPane.showInputDialog( null, "Give the third Coefficient");
         double c = Double.parseDouble(coeffc);
         String coeffd = JOptionPane.showInputDialog( null, "Give the fourth Coefficient");
         double d = Double.parseDouble(coeffd);
         double sum = a*Math.pow(x,0) + b*Math.pow(x,1) + c*Math.pow(x,2) + d*Math.pow(x,3);
         public double getSum( )
              return sum;
    }

    Just guessing here...
    Because you named it Functinon instead of Function? (but that may just be a typo in your question of course)
    or because it is not public and not in the same package as MYPA5?

  • With Firefox running, Office 2007 generates a "Cannot Empty Clipboard" error message when pasting information between Excel cells -- the behavior goes away when I close Firefox. Is there a way to prevent this?

    I am running Windows XP, Office 2007, and Firefox 3.6.13.
    Whenever I have Firefox running in the background and I attempt to paste information between Excel cells a "Cannot Empty Clipboard" error is generated. I have attempted numerous other fixes for this: Excel and Office settings. But nothing seems to help. When I close Firefox, the errors are no longer generated.

    The Skype add-in was the culprit in my case. Disabling it fixed the problem. As soon as I enable it, the problem comes back.

  • Cannot find symbol error.. really stuck.

    I have a class named Rectangle.java. It is in a package "Geometry" together with Point.java and Line.java. But when I try to use Rectangle.java in my main program, MyRect.java, it gives me a "cannot find symbol" error, particularly the methods and sometimes the variables. I tried compiling just my Rectangle class and it compiled fine.. And I tried the Line and Point classes on another program and it works fine... well probably because the Line and Point classes are from a book(Ivor Horton's Beginning Java 2).. I am just starting out in Java. :)
    Rectangle.java
    package Geometry;
    public class Rectangle{
        public Point[] corner = new Point[4];

    Are you sure you have posted the whole content of MyRect.java

  • Cannot find symbol error. don't know why

    Hello, I'm trying to write a button bean in the shape of a triangle but netbeans keeps throwing up a cannot find symbol error at my g.fillPolygon line. I've declared the number of sides and x and y coords.
    Any ideas as to why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.
    Here's the code:
    package trianglebutton;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class TriangleButtonBean extends JButton implements Serializable
    private TriangleButtonBean graphicPolygon;
    private Color buttonColour;
    private Color textColour;
    private String caption;
    private int sides = 3;
    private int size = 30;
    private int centerX = 100;
    private int centerY = 100;
         public TriangleButtonBean()
              super();
              setPreferredSize(new Dimension(50,50));
              setBorder(null);
              buttonColour = Color.red;
              textColour = Color.black;
              caption = "";
         public TriangleButtonBean(String acaption)
              super();
              setPreferredSize(new Dimension(50,50));
              setBorder(null);
              caption = acaption;
         public void paintComponent(Graphics g)
    String astring;
              super.paintComponent(g);
    g.setColor(buttonColour);
              int centerX = graphicPolygon.getCenterX(); //Invoking getCenterX method
              int centerY = graphicPolygon.getCenterY(); //Invoking getCenterY method
              //int Xcoordinates [] = graphicPolygon.getPolygonXCoordinates(sides,size);
              //int Ycoordinates [] = graphicPolygon.getPolygonYCoordinates(sides,size);
    g.drawPolygon(centerX,centerY, sides); //Draw polygon using xcoord,ycoord and number of sides
              g.fillPolygon(centerX,centerY, sides); //Fill poly
              g.setColor(textColour);
              if (caption.length() > 1)
                   astring = caption.substring(0,1);
              else
                   astring = caption;
              g.drawString(astring,22,27);
         public void setButtonColour(Color acolour)
              buttonColour = acolour;
              repaint();
         public Color getButtonColour()
              return buttonColour;
         public void setTextColour(Color acolour)
              textColour = acolour;
              repaint();
         public Color getTextColour()
              return textColour;
         public void setCaption(String acaption)
              caption = acaption;
              repaint();
         public String getCaption()
              return caption;
    // public void setCenterX(int xcoords)
    // centerX = xcoords;
    public int getCenterX()
    return centerX;
    // public void setCenterY(int ycoords)
    // centerY = ycoords;
    public int getCenterY()
    return centerY;
    public static void main(String[] args){
    TriangleButtonBean agui = new TriangleButtonBean();
    } // End of class

    Please READ, STUDY, and UNDERSTAND the error messages, they are telling you exactly what the problem is:
    . . .\TriangleButtonBean.java:56: cannot find symbol
    symbol  : method drawPolygon(int,int,int)
    location: class java.awt.Graphics
    g.drawPolygon(centerX,centerY, sides); //Draw polygon using xcoord,ycoord and number of sides
    ^
    . . .\TriangleButtonBean.java:57: cannot find symbol
    symbol  : method fillPolygon(int,int,int)
    location: class java.awt.Graphics
    g.fillPolygon(centerX,centerY, sides); //Fill poly
    ^
    2 errors
    Process javac exited with code 1In both cases the messages ar telling you that the methods
    drawPolygon(int,int,int)
    method fillPolygon(int,int,int)
    can't be found in java.awt.Graphics
    And if you look at the documentation, you see that is indeed the problem - the first two arguments are int arrrays, not int.
    Fix the method signature or use something else.
