CreateTempFile(String prefix, String sufix) is adding numbers to the prefix

Hi folks,
When I call createTempFile("filename", ".dat") it is adding numbers to the prefix. In my temporal directory I get a file called "filename34486.dat" instead a file called "filename.dat"! Do you know why ?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.If you wanted a file named explicitly "filename.dat", then don't use createTempFile - that's for creating, well, temporary files with a (hopefully) unique name so as to not collide with other processes who might also be trying to create temporary files of the same name pattern.

    How much chance do I have of messing my connect-ability up altogether?
    And how do I go about doing it properly?

    In the Network Pref Pane, choose the Location drop down, choose Edit Locations, then choose Duplicate... now you have one you can paste those numbers into, and just switch Locations back if need be without changing any numbers.
    It's safe though anyway really.:-)

    One could, I assume, inactivate line 1023

    by adding »//« at the beginning or deleting it.
    But maybe someone else has a custom Script for the task anyway.

  • Exception: Unable to add a URI or prefix string to dictionary

    I'm getting the "Unable to add a URI or prefix string to dictionary" exception when I was trying to import a 570MB XML document to the container. The exception goes away if I delete my indexes in the container and import the document again. I wonder if the exception implies that I'm out of space for the indexes? Does anyone have any suggestion for this problem if I don't want to remove the indexes? The queries are running too slow if I remove the indexes.
    Thank you very much!

    Hi,
    That's a bug in DB XML, which may be masking another error. To find out what the other error is, can you make a small change to DB XML, recompile and try to load the document again? In dbxml/src/dbxml/nodeStore/NsDoc.cpp can you find this function:
    int
    NsDoc::addIDForString(const char *strng, size_t len)
         DBXML_ASSERT(dict_);
         DBXML_ASSERT(::strlen(strng) == len);
         NameID id;
         int err = dict_->lookupIDFromStringName(oc_, strng, len, id, true);
         if (err != 0) {
              std::string error =  "Unable to add a URI or prefix string to dictionary: ";
              error += (std::string)strng;
              NsUtil::nsThrowException(XmlException::DATABASE_ERROR,
                              error.c_str(),
                              __FILE__, __LINE__);
         return (int)id.raw();
    }and change it to this:
    int
    NsDoc::addIDForString(const char *strng, size_t len)
         DBXML_ASSERT(dict_);
         DBXML_ASSERT(::strlen(strng) == len);
         NameID id;
         int err = dict_->lookupIDFromStringName(oc_, strng, len, id, true);
         if (err != 0) {
              throw XmlException(err);

    This question comes up all the time. It's a Fact Of life of modern microprocessors and computer languages, which implement floating-point arithmetic using binary fractions (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, etc.), not decimal fractions (1/10, 1/100, 1/1000, etc.), according to the IEEE-754 spec. Many decimal fractions, such as 1.56, cannot be exactly represented as a finite binary fraction. (Or the exact representation in binary might be finite but require more fractional digits that the spec allows.) Although your source program says "1.56", it gets compiled and executed as the IEEE-754 binary-fraction that is closest to 1.56, but it isn't exactly equal to 1.56, and then this slight error gets propogated through calculations, and the conversion back to decimal is again inexact.
    Generally, people just use methods like toPrecision() to round things off a bit and hide this problem. Or they go write or find a (much slower) ActionScript library that does true decimal floating-point arithmetic by storing decimal fractions rather than binary fractions.

  • ByteArray to String and String to ByteArray  error at readUTF from datainpu

    hi everybody this is my first post I hope I can find the help I need I have been doing some research and couldnt find the solution thanks in advanced
    The Objective:
    im building a client server application with java and I need to send a response from the server to the client via Socket
    so the response is like this : <Signal : ByteArray> where Signal is a String so the client can Identify the Type of response
    and the ByteArray is an Array of bytes containing the Information I need
    The Problem:
    I have an Array of bytes containing the info to send and I need to pass this byte[] to a String add some String that let me Identify the data in the client side then remove the identifier in the client side and convert the resulting String back to an array of bytes this doesnt work
    The Code:
    Server Side (Creating the Byte Array):
    public byte[] createData(){
                    ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                    DataOutputStream dos = new DataOutputStream(baos);
                    dos.writeUTF(requestedFile.getName());
                    dos.flush();
                    byte[] data = baos.toByteArray();
                    return data;
    }Server Side (Converting the byte[] to String and Add some Identifier)
    byte[] data= createData(); //Obtain the data  in a byte[]
    String response = new String(data);  //Convert the Data to String
    String Identifier= "14"; // to identify in the client side the data received this will be removed later
    response = Identifier+response;  // add the identifier to the String
    sendToClient( response.getBytes() );  //obtain bytes from the complete Response and send them to clientClient Side ( Receive the response that is a byte array containing the identifier plus the info <Identifier : info> )
                int index=response.indexOf(":")+1;  //find the index of the : so i can delete the identifier
                response=response.substring(index); // delete the identifier
                byte[] data = response.getBytes(); // obtains the bytes for the info ONLY cause the string no longer has identif
                receiveData ( data ); // send the data to be read by this method Client Side (Receive the Info sent from the server and read it)
                public void receiveData ( byte[] data ) {
                   ByteArrayInputStream bais = new ByteArrayInputStream ( data );
                   DataInputStream dis= new DataInputStream ( bais );
                   setTotalSize ( dis.readUTF( ) ); // here is the error  it catches an EndOfFileException without read the info
                }im tried sending other values like long and int and i was able to read them but the problem is with the Strings at the ReadUTF()
    Im tried to be the most clear as possible please help me this is driving me nuts
    and I would really appreciatte all your comments thanks

I wish more people were as clear as you.
    Second: I'm no expert on this stuff, so I may well be wrong, but I did note the following:
    1. I can't see anywhere where you're putting out the ":" to separate your signal.
    2. You seem to be doing an awful lot of conversions from Strings to bytes and vice-versa, but only your filename is specified as a UTF-8 conversion. Could you not do something like:
    dos.writeUTF("14:" + requestedFile.getName());or indeed, more generically
    dos.writeUTF(signal + ":" + messageBody);from inside a createMessage() method.
    3. You haven't included the sendToClient() code, but your createData() looks suspiciously like what I would put in a method like that.
    From what I understand, you usually want mirror-images of your streams at your sending and receiving ends, so if your client is expecting an DataInputStream wrapping a ByteArrayInputStream to be read via readUTF(), your server better be sending a ByteArrayOutputStream wrapped in a DataOutputStream created, in its entirety, by writeUTF().
    But after your UTF conversion, you're adding your signal and then using String.getBytes(), which uses the default character set, not UTF.

    String s="ABC"s points to the String object containing the characters "ABC"
    String s; Declares String reference varialbe s. Doesn't not assign it any value. If it's a local variable, it won't have a value until you explicitly assign it. If it's a member variable, it will be given the value null when the enclosing object is created.
    String s="ABC";Already covered above.
    or String s=null;s does not point to any object.
    String s="ABC";???
    You've already asked this twice.
    Are you talking about doing
    String s = null;
    String s = "ABC";right after each other?
    You can't do that. You can only declare a variable once.
    If you mean
    String s = null;
    s = "ABC";It just does what I described above, one after the other.
    2. Object anyObject;
    anyObject-new Object();
    and
    Object anyObject=null;
    anyObject=new Object();As above: In the first case, its value is undefined until the new Object line if it's a local, or it's null if it's a member.
    As for which is better, it depends what you're doing.

    Why not use an event
    Add a While Loop, inside the loop add the Event Sructure.
    Now in the event structure selecd the String Controls.value change event to
    react
    and the new value inside the event that you get,( connect to the String

  • Adding a prefix to a file name if the prefix is not already there

    I have a script that adds a prefix to a file name then moves the file from its source directory to a destination directory. The problem I am encountering is that if the destination directory is unavailable for any reason the file fails to move &
    so remains in the source directory and then the next time the script runs the prefix gets added again so I sometimes end up with files that look like this:
    "Prefix_Prefix_Prefix_Prefix_Prefix_Prefix_1234_20141020_9786_8404.tif"
    I need to build in some kind of logic that prevents this from happening so that if the Prefix_ is there it doesn't add it again, but not I'm not sure what the best way to do this is.  Here is the code that adds the prefix.
    Get-ChildItem $Source\* -include *.jpg,*.tif,*.pdf -exclude *.log | % {Rename-item $_.Fullname ("Prefix_" + $_.Name)}
    # When I wrote this script only God and I knew what I was doing. # Now, only God Knows!

    Another option, but I like Bill's better:
    $prefix = 'prefix'
    Get-ChildItem | ForEach {
    If ($_.Name -notlike "$prefix*") {
    Rename-Item -Path $_.FullName -NewName "$($prefix)_$($_.Name)"

  • Help with StuckThread in java.lang.String.equals(String.java:619)

    I periodically get a stuck Execute thread on my Weblogic 8.15 server

    thread is always stuck in the same place (in
    java.lang.String.equals(String.java:619) or in the call immediately above it
    java.util.LinkedList.indexOf(LinkedList.java:397)). Even though the thread
    dump indicates that the thread is in a runnable state, if I do multiple
    thread dumps over a period of time, the stack trace always indicates that
    the thread is in the same place. The thread remains stuck until Weblogic is
    restarted. Other client applictions can make session bean calls, but each
    stuck thread seems to still take up lots of CPU time. I have let the stuck
    threads run overnight, and the stack trace from the thread dump always shows
    them executing the same String/LinkedList code. In each case, our code is
    trying to iterate over a collection
    Does anybody know what could cause this problem, and how to fix it? I get

    I suggest dropping that example program and concentrating on reading a book on Java such as 'Head First in Java'. Hi,
    Exchange 2010 MP fails to run Troubleshoot-DatabaseSpace.ps1. Results in a Warning with "Error formatting a string: Format string is not supported". The EventNumber is 402. The Microsoft article it points to is useless at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/749e0eac-ebb2-41e3-8fa2-4a03a1bd3571.aspx
    Run ".\Troubleshoot-DatabaseSpace.ps1 -Server MailboxServer.domain.com -MonitoringContext" and works fine.
    Any help appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi,
    Before the newer MP release, we can disable  these 4 monitor via override and this should not run the Troubleshoot-DatabaseSpace.ps1 :
