Creating a bean within another bean and JNDI

Hello,
I am trying to have one bean (a session bean) create another bean (entity
bean). I keep getting a naming exception. Both beans are deployed in the
same JAR file. Also, I can directly create the entity bean (from a client
test app).
Here is the code I have in the session bean:
try
Context initial = new InitialContext();
Object objref = initial.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/User");
UserHome userHome =
UserHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow( objref, UserHome.class );
user = userHome.create( username, password );
catch( NamingException e )
e.printStackTrace();
The result is a naming exception, which is shown below. Why does the naming
exception say "comp.env.ejb.User"?
***** Naming Exception *****
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: 'comp.env.ejb/User'; remaining name
'ejb/Use

    How do I create a table within another table?
    As shown in image below (document created with Words), I already have a table with 3 columns. How do I create another table with 6 columns to tabulate the data (the one below "3.1 Overall")?

    Last time I checked in Pages 5.5.2 that is not possible.

  • Command to display only the latest modified directory within another directory and display the date of the last modify

    Okay I want to be able to run a .cmd file from my workstation to query a certain folder on remote clients. I want the command to find the specific folder within another folder and display the current date modified of that folder. I was
    able to use a command prompt to list the subdirectory that I was looking for on a specific computer by using the
    DIR command. It was something like this:
    dir C:\ParentFolder\ChildFolder /ad /o-d /b
    This shows a list of directories within the "ChildFolder" directory. The output would be something like:
    dir C:\ParentFolder\ChildFolder /ad /o-d /b
    folder1
    folder2
    folder3
    folder4
    So what I need now is a way to just show the folder in this group that had the most recent modification. For example if "folder2" was the most recently modified folder in the group, I would like my command line to just display "folder2 04/08/14
    04:13 PM
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers!

    Thanks Mike! This is what I was looking for! Much appreciated!
    I would like to run this as a script from my admin workstation that will query clients that have the "ChildFolder" directory. Is there a way to output the results to a .log/.txt file? I was working on .cmd that looked like this:
    {REM Verify current folder on remote clients
    del current-folder.log
    ECHO WorkStation-1 >> CurrentFolder/current-folder.log 2>&1
    ECHO ---------------- >> CurrentFolder/current-folder.log 2>&1
    DIR \\WorkStation-1\C$\ParentFolder\ChildFolder /ad /o-d /b >> CurrentFolder/current-folder.log 2>&1
    ECHO ---------------- >> CurrentFolder/current-folder.log 2>&1}
    My results looked something like this:
    " WorkStation-1
    Folder1
    Folder2
    Folder3
    I know it's ugly, but it was working (somewhat). I just needed to list only the most recently modified folder. Anyway, I've rambled enough.
    Is there a way to get my desired results using the PS command that you provided me?

Better example  I am taking an IT class and we have different units 1-10 I would like a folder for each unit under my IT document EX: IT 133 > Unit 1 > Unit 2 etc. Thanks in advance.

  • LR4 catalog:createKeyword creates a keyword inside another keyword and 4th parameter is nil

    LR4 catalog:createKeyword creates a keyword inside another keyword even though the 4th parameter (parent) in the call is nil. LR3 API doc says .. 'nil to create at the top level' and thats how it worked. Looking forward to LR4 SDK documentation.

    Hmm, I just tested my plugin in LR 4 and it successfully creates a top-level keyword when the fourth parameter is nil.

  • How to load swf files within another SWF and still maintain actionscript

    Hi I was wondering how to embed an swf file inside another
    swf file, If i simply import it to the stage or the library it will
    become a symbol but the actionscript interactivity is lost, another
    question is can I have an actionscript 2 file play within an
    actionscript 3 file?
    The actionscript 2 code for embedding is something like this:
    don't mind the _mc titles
    this.cargame_mc.onRelease = function (){
    loadMovie ("Crusty Rusty's.swf", empty_mc)
    empty_mc._xscale=60;
    empty_mc._yscale=55;
    empty_mc._x=210;
    empty_mc._y=140;
    Please Help its for my uni portfolio, i want to use as2, but
    if i do i would lose the 3d possibility of as3, is there any way to
    export an as3 file and then embed in as2, using a program or
    anything? Thanks!I
    I would just like to say thanks in advance because everyone
    on here is so helpful!

    you can load an as2 file into an as3 file (using the loader
    class) and the actionscript will work in both.

    Hi,
    Why do you need to combine the two action togather. You can get the things done in two steps.
    Create table tab1 as select * from tab2;
    Then you create any contraint that you want to create on tab2 using 'alter table add constraint'.

  • Creating entity beans with auto numbered primary key

    I have two entity bean with a CMR between them. I am successfully creating the first one but when I try and create the child entity bean I get a NullPointerException.
    Now I think this is because the gernerated code tries to get the primary key of the created entity bean and this is not set as it is set using a auto number in the database (An oracle sequence and trigger).
    Is there anyway i can get round this problem?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Question on Creating table from another table and copying the partition str

    Dear All,
    I want to know whether is there any way where we can create a table using another table and have the partitions of the new table to be exactly like the used table.
    Like
    CREATE TABLE TEST AS SELECT * FROM TEMP;
    The table TEMP is having range and hash partitions.
    Is there any way when we use the above command, we get the table partitions of TEMP to be copied to the new table TEST.
    Appreciate your suggestions on this one.
    Thanks,

  • Create a web service from java bean and map exceptions to SOAP faults

    Hi,
    We have to expose our Session stateless EJB3 as web services. I've tried to use annotations and jdev wizard "java bean to web service" and it works fine.
    Our problem now is that our methods can throw a business exception that contains a list of error message strings to be presented on the client.
    I did not find any way to use annotations to make it build a wsdl with soap fault mapped to our exception class. Neither I could to make the wizard to create wsdl with faults.
    As we are exposing already designed and implemented classes as web services, I think the bottom-top (java->wsdl) approach is better that top->botton (wsdl->java). Therefore, I'm looking for a possibility to generate the web services from the java beans and have the exception be mapped to a soap fault message.
    We are using jdev 10.1.3.1 and OAS 10.1.3.1., is there a way to map exceptions to soap faults using bottom->top approach?
    thank you

    My last question concerning web services:
    I have already written a session bean and I'd like to add some methods
    as a web service to it, how do I do that?
    Or I can only create another bean for a webservice and cannot modify the
    original one?You might create web service with existing sources and select you bean. New web services with appropriate lookup method will be generated.
    All web service method, that will be exposed in web service, you
    should add itself (Pop-up menu Web Service -> Add operation)

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create a session bean and load a resultset within it when the following
    error occurs.What could be the reason?Need an immediate response.Thanks
    in advance
    ThomasIt means the pool doesn't have a connection available for this thread to use, after waiting
    some time for any other thread to return one. Either your pool is not big enough, or your
    bean code may sometimes be forgetting to close any connection it gets. Note that in
    a stateful session bean, you may fall into the trap of retaining a JDBC connection open
    for the duration of the session. If you do this, your pool must have as many connections
    as the maximum number of simultaenous sessions you want to support. Usually the aim is
    to obtain a pool connection, use it, and return it to the pool, all within any single response
    to the client. Then you only need as many pool connections as there are execute threads
    in the server. Having a DBMS transaction that spans user input is an invitation to deadlocks,
    bottlenecks in performance etc.

  • How to use same transaction when calling CMP entity beans and  DAO (JDBC)

    We are currently using Weblogic 8.1 SP2 with an Oracle 10g database (using XA thin and non-XA drivers).
    We have a session bean that invokes an entity bean and a DAO (data access object pattern) in order to add data in 2 separate tables (account and history). Rows are added to the first (account) table using a CMP Entity bean while inserts are done in the 2nd (history) table using a DAO. Here is some pseudo code:
    addHistorySessionBean (trans-attribute="Required")
    begin
    Step #1 - call addAccountEntityBean (trans- attribute="Required")
    Step #2 - call addHistoryDAO (get datasource, connection)
    end
    The 2nd table (history) has a foreign key constraint to ensure that the corresponding key exists in the first (account) table. Unfortunately, DAO inserts on the 2nd (history) table fail with a foreign key constraint violation (INTEGRITY CONSTRAINT VIOLATION - PARENT KEY NOT FOUND!) since they cannot see the row added to the 1st (account) table in step #1 by the CMP entity bean.
    How does one ensure that all this is done in a single transaction ? It appears that the app server creates two seperate transactions (one for the session bean facade and the entity bean and a 2nd transaction (when we retrieve a connection using the same data source JNDI name) for the DAO.
    A post on server side suggested using a "<resource-ref>" in the session bean to tie the two potentially separate transactions together, but that does not work for us. However, I am not sure if we are doing that correctly. After we define the resource ref in the session facade bean, do we use the resource ref "name" attribute to lookup the datasource or do we still lookup the datasource by JNDI name ? Do we need to define the resource-ref tag in the entity bean also ?
    Does Weblogic allow using a single transaction for this type of a scenario ? How does one specify within Weblogic that the same transaction should be utilized by the entity bean and any subsequent DAOs?
    People have also suggested that we defer constraint checking until the transaction(s) are committed but that sounds like a work acount without addressing this issue. Would postponing the constraint checking in Oracle cause any additional overhead ?
    Any suggestions with specific examples or documentation on how to address this issue will be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, this does not work since it appears that there are 2 separate transactions going on here. One, the original one initiated by the session bean and used by the entity bean and the other initiated by the DAO. Any other ideas appreciated.
    Hi,
    Try setting the delay-database-inserts tag to
    ejbCreate in RDBMS descriptor file.

  • First use of jsp and java bean and "Unable to compile class for JSP" error

    Hi,
    I am trying to create my first jsp + java bean and I get a basic error (but I have no clue what it depends on exactly). Tomcat seems to cannot find my class file in the path. Maybe it is because I did not create a web.xml file. Did I forgot to put a line in my jsp file to import my bean?
    Thank you very much for your help.
    Here is my error:
    An error occurred at line: 2 in the jsp file: /login.jsp
    Generated servlet error:
    [javac] Compiling 1 source file
    /usr/local/tomcat/jakarta-tomcat-5/build/work/Catalina/localhost/test/org/apache/jsp/login_jsp.java:43: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class CMBConnect
    location: class org.apache.jsp.login_jsp
    CMBConnect test = null;
    I only have this in my directory:
    test/login.jsp
    test/WEB-INF/classes/CMBConnect.java
    test/WEB-INF/classes/CMBConnect.class
    Do I need to declare another directory in classes to put my class file in it and package my bean differently?
    Here is my login.jsp:
    <%@ page errorPage="error.jsp" %>
    <jsp:useBean id="test" type="CMBConnect" scope="session" />
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>my test</title>

    <h3>Login information</h3>
    <b><%=session.getValue("customerinfo.message")%></b>
    <form> ....... </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    and here is my CMBConnect.java:
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    public class CMBConnect
    public CMBConnect () { }
    public String openConnection(String id, String password) {
    String returnText = "";
    try {
    Connection con = null;
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@myserver.abc.com:1521:TEST", id, password);
    if(con.isClosed())
    returnText = "Cannot connect to Oracle server using TCP/IP...";
    else
    returnText = "Connection successful";
    } catch (Exception e) { returnText = returnText + e; }
    return returnText;
    Thanks again!

    Thanks for you help

  • Unable to find Bean and AM impl for customisation of Fusion Application

    Hi,
    Iam navigating through this link
    under Fusion App --> Navigator -->WarehouseOperation -->REceipts --> and Entering createReceipt screen via Receive Expected Shipments. I want to default the value of packing slip as how supplier got defaulted but in editable mode. For this i want to know how supplier got defaulted and in same way i want to default Packing slip number.
    But iam unable to find the managed bean or AMimpl java file for doing code change.
    "Copylines" is default activity and from there it is navigating to CreateReceipt.jsff, i don't find any parameter carrying the value for Supplier.
    So Logic must be either in Managed Bean or in AmImpl . I need to include my logic also here. But unable to find the necessary file.
    reg,
    Lakshmi.

    While creating a receipt, you select one or more orders belonging to a single supplier and then create one receipt against that. And that is how the supplier field gets defaulted in the Create Receipt UI.
    Packing slip is also defaulted when the user receives against ASN provided it is captured at the time of creation of the ASN.
    For a regular PO receipt, the user is expected to enter the packing slip by default.
    Can you describe your exact requirement in detail?
    The customization framework does allow the value of a field to be overwritten but using this, you will always have a predefined value or some limited logic using EL.
    But we would not recommend that because when you customize the value of a field, it will discard the value that is fetched from the database.
    This can potentially break the default functionality of receiving where the packing slip is defaulted from the ASN.
    And another question that I have is the need for the AM details - this particular code is present in the AM and not the managed bean.
    Are you planning to extend the AM that is shipped by receiving?
