Creating a class with only one method in it

Do you think it is worth creating a class if you only have one method in it?
Or do you think i should just put it in the class that contains the main method?
Just wondering.

The class i am talking about, is to register new
customers, A class is typically a noun in your problem description - so the class could be Customer, or maybe Registry. But "register new customers" is an action, so this should be a method, and it should belong to whatever class in your system you think should have the responsibility to register new custromers.
a pretty major part of the application.
But is it really required to have it's own class?
If it still depends, what does it depend on?

Create many SIA with only one installation issue

Hi,
I want create many CMS linked to corresponding SIA in one install.
For sample, we have:
PRG -->CMS 6400
TST -->CMS 6500
In the install, The SIA for PRG is autolmatically created.
After this, I have created a new database in Mysql for TST.
I have used command for create a new SIA :
./addnode.sh -name SIATST -siaport 6411 -cms boxi:6400 -user Administrator -password PRG
I have launched the command :
./cmsdbsetup and respond the name of the new SIA --> SIATST
I have 'updated' the datadase info and reinitialize the database. At this time, the CMS port is asked and I have respond 6500.
Like explain at the end of the tool, I have launched the command:
./ccm.sh -updateobjects -cms boxi:6500
After start the SIATST, I can connect to the CMS:6500 and all services is connected to the port 6500 (in the command line -ns boxi:6500).
Unluckily, the <node> name SIATST is always present in SIAPRG (cms on 6400) but on failed to start.
I have tried to remove this by command:
./removenode.sh -name SIAPRG -cms boxi:6400 -username Administrator -password PRG
I have the error:
Logging on to boxi:6400 as user Administrator with secEnterprise authentication...
The SIA on this machine with the name SIATST doesn't exist in the cluster you are connected to.
In the 'Server' tab in the CCM interface, I have always this node information and all services linked.
It's possible to remove this SIATST on SIAPRG ?
This procedure is good for wanted solution ?

Why two primary that is 'coz geographically based server support and workstation. You can think it as a data center to data center split.
That doesn't make sense and aren't valid reasons for 2012 (not that you can necessarily change it now).
This line jumps out at me in the log file though: "An MP exists on this machine".
That looks like the system you are installing on previously had an MP on it. I would delete the ccm namespace in WMI, cleanup all reference to ccm and Configuratin Manager from the registry, and then try again.

Create a Graph with only one set of data? Threw serial

I feel this is a simple question, but I am over thinking it. I am trying to make a program that takes data that is sent threw serial Rs232 from a device, and put that data both into a file and display a live graph of the data (saving the graph would also be great). The devise is strait forward it gives me data when it is don't making the test. After it has the data is sends it and it is always in this form, (ignore Quotes) "[ 122.8 PSI ]' where "122.8" will always be 5 characters and the decimal point stays the same.
I would like to take Ex. 122.8 and plot that on y and use the line number from the text file as the x value. How can this be achieved?
Currently I am displaying the values in a list because I can't figure the graph out. But attached is my messy code and a sample of data that gets sent.
P.S.. The data list can get as long as 2000 or more.
side question... when the program is built into an EXE when using serial, can the user change what port?

Well, that's called Rube Golberg code.
All that you have to do is convert the string to a numeric (i.e. a single Scan From String not your match pattern functions) and wire it to a chart. The chart's x axis by default will increment by 1 with each sample written so reading the x axis from file is silly. Be sure to set the chart history. Since you are already writing the data to file, why write it again? Either write the full string or just the value. Your second while loop becomes unnecessary and if for some reason you needed it, it would only record the very last value.
Don't open the file with each iteration. Place that outside the loop.

Other than create a VSERVER with only one real server in it - is there a way of load balancing when you have only one real server now and may be additional servers to be added later?

Using only one method in session bean to create web service

Hi all,
I hhave a scenario where i am inserting and retrieving data from dict table using web service.
For this i have created a session bean and a wrapper class.
The session bean has two methods: insertRecords(), and viewRec().
so while creating a web service i need to include two methods.
I want to have only one method where i can pass a parameter as operation and if it is "I", then i can call the insert method and if it is "S" i can call view method.
I tried doing that bt i am stuck up with the return type.
Insert method has return type as array of wrapper class and
view method has wrapper class as return type ...
Is this scenario possible..??
or is there any other way to do this???

Create multiple portal instances with only one database?

Can someone create multiple portal instances with only one database?
If so, how is this done, just by running the portal configuration wizard?
How are most people running with multiple developers working on portal? Do they share a portal instance, or create their own?

SQL Server 2012 Undetected Deadlock in a table with only one row

We have migrated our SQL 2000 Enterprise Database to SQL 2012 Enterprise few days ago.
This is our main database, so most of the applications access it.
The day after the migration, when users started to run tasks, the database access started to experiment a total failure.
That is, all processes in the SQL 2k12 database were in lock with each other. This is a commom case of deadlock, but the Database Engine was unable to detect it.
After some research, we found that the applications were trying to access a very simple table with only one row. This table has a number that is restarted every day and is used to number all the transactions made against the system. So, client
applications start a new transaction, get the current number, increment it by one and commit the transaction.
The only solution we found was to kill all user processes in SQL Server every time this situation occurs (no more than 5 minutes when all clients are accessing the database).
No client application was changed in this migration and this process was working very well for the last 10 years.
The problem is that SQL 2k12 is unable to handle this situation compared to SQL 2k.
It seems to occurs with other tables too, but as this is an "entry table" the problem occurs with it first.
I have searched internet and some suggest some workarounds like using table hints to completely lock the table at the begining of the transaction, but it can't be used to other tables.
Does anyone have heard this to be a problem with SQL 2k12? Is there any fixes to make SQL 2k12 as good as SQL 2k?

This is incorrect.
Using a table to generate sequence numbers like this is a bad idea exactly because the access must be serialized. Since you can't switch to a SEQUENCE object, which is the correct solution, the _entire goal_ of this exercise to find a way to properly
serialize access to this table. Using exclusive locking will not be necessary for all the tables; just for the single-row table used for generating sequence values with a cursor.

It's the S lock that comes from the cursor read that's the villian here. U locks are compatible with S locks, so one session gets a U lock and another gets an S lock. But then the session with an S needs a U, and the session with a U needs an
X. Deadlock.
I'm not sure what kind of locks were taken by this cursor code on SQL 2000, but on SQL 2012, this code is absolutely broken and should deadlock.
The right way to fix this code is to add (UPDLOCK,SERIALIZABLE) to the cursor

So each session reads the table with a restrictive lock, and you don't mix S, U and X locks in this transaction. This resolves the deadlock, but requires a code change.
I tried several things that didn't require a code, which did not resolve the deadlock;
1) setting ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS=OFF ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS=OFF
2) SERIALIZABLE isolation level
3) Switching OleDB providers from SQLOLEDB to SQLNCLI11
Then I replaced the table with a view containing a lock hint:

I probably missed this one earlier or felt that since it referenced an XML data file that I couldn't provide a definitive answer. I'm still not sure I can because we don't use XML for our data files, but use the "field nominated format". An expansion on Tammy's information: 1. use a multi-step job with each b task calling a different MDF. With this correction, it assumes that you either have access to set up the tasks/jobs yourself or can convince your Central administrator to do so. What happens is that TASKA is set up to reference FORMA and TASKB is set up to reference FORMB. Then a job is set up that causes both TASKA & TASKB to be ran. This will likely result in two different print files being sent to the printer. That may or may not be desirable, depending on whether your printer is set up to do something special between each print file (insert separator page, offset, whatever). Personally, I don't recommend this as it can quickly cause an unnecessary proliferation of tasks and jobs (we print 100's of differing form combinations with a single job definition). 2. I can't really address this as I didn't even know that a single form could cause another to be called. I would expect that unless the "base" form (say it is FORMA) is to always print with the secondary form (FORMB) it is restrictive and has the potential to cause a proliferation of FORMA files for the various combinations that are to be printed. Maybe it is possible to have logic to check the value of a data field to control what forms get called. 3. If you pass the XML file through a translation step and then through the transformation agent (maybe it can be done in a single step) this should work. It does add another step to the job as well as requiring learning to use the transformation agent. Depending on the combination of forms to be printed, you might need a different translation definition for each one, or at the very least have a data field that you can check the value of to determine what ^form commands to put in the output file. 4. My recommendation is based on assuming an XML data file has the same capabilities as a field nominated file. Within a field nominated file are various print agent commands, including references to data as well as which forms are to be printed (and a whole bunch of other commands). An XML file should have the same features - I just can't say what they might look like. If your current data file has no "form" reference but depends on the job/task definition you might have to stick with option 1. If it has a "form" reference, then you just need to insert additional references for additional forms. Then it is up to the source of your data (or a transformation agent step) to specify which forms are to be printed. For example, in field nominated format, the file might look like: ^job XYZ additional parameters ^form FORMA.MDF ^field FIELD1 data ^field FIELD2 data ^form FORMB.MDF ^field FIELD1 data ^field FIELD3 data or it might look like the way our files look: ^job XYZ additional parameters ^global FIELD1 data ^global FIELD2 data ^global FIELD3 data ^form FORMA.MDF ^form FORMB.MDF As you can see in the first example, there is a reference to the form followed by all fields that go on it followed by another form reference with the fields that go on it. This particular method, using all "^field" commands for defining the data requires that data duplicated between the forms be duplicated. (Or, the use of some ^global commands like the following.) In the second example, all data is defined first using the "^global" command followed by all of the form references. This allows for the data to be defined only once. If there is something unique regarding a particular form the field can be ^global at the beginning or it can be ^field b after the ^form reference (similar to the first example). As previously mentioned, the XML file should have the same capability but in XML notation, something like the following (forgive me as it has been years since I took the XML class and don't use it in my daily work so the actual format could be wrong, not to mention the actual labels): <job name=XYZ,option=aaaa,option=bbbbbbb> <form name=FORMA.MDF> <field name=FIELD1, value=xxxxxxxxxxx></field> <field name=FIELD2, value="xxxxxxxxxxxxx"></field> </form> <form name=FORMA.MDF> etcetera </job> or maybe: <job name=XYZ,option=aaaa,option=bbbbbbb> <global name=FIELD1,value=xxxxxxxxxxxx></global> <global name=FIELD2,value="xxxxxxxxxxxxx"></global> etcetera <form name=FORMA.MDF></form> <form name=FORMB.MDF></form> </job> or even (but I doubt it): <job name=XYZ,option=aaaa,option=bbbbbbb> <globals> name=FIELD1,value=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, name=FIELD2,value="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" </globals> <forms> name=FORMA.MDF, name=FORMB.MDF </forms> </job>

To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps first

iMessage over cellular data might not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports. Restart your device.

Back up and restore your device as new.

Multiple events per date with only one photo each - Unwanted

I have the eyefi wireless sd card in my camera and it is setup to transmit my photos into iphoto automatically, which it does. However, the problem arises in that iphoto creates multiple events for the same date each containing only one photo. I would prefer that iphoto create individual events per date and have the multiples of that date's photos within. I thought I had the settings configured to do so as I have preferences set for autosplit events one per day but I still see events such as - July 3, 2008 - July 3, 2008 - July 3, 2008 - each with only one photo inside.
I am wondering if it is something in iphoto's settings or the way in which eyefi transmits the photos into iphoto.
Any thoughts?

I do not have a WiFi connection to my camera so can not test but am just guessing
I can think of two possibilities
- 1 - if you are taking the photos with the WiFi connected then each time you snap a photo it may be being sent which would be looked at as a new import and therefore create a new event - to stop this I believe you would have to not have a full time WiFi connection to your camera or somehow set the camera to send batched - not each one - iPhoto will take each batch into and follow the rules for making events for that batch even if you camera is sending many batches of One photo
- 2 - You have the preference for making batches set to one every two hours and there is a long time between photos - I'm guessing that #1 is more likely

SQL query to retrieve families with only one generation from a family db

I need to write an SQL query that would select families with only one generation ((which means a person - or a married couple - with kids) or (a person - or a married couple - with parents but no kids)) from a database containing families. The simplified db structure is:

To get their spouses and children (if any) you will have to join this result set to all the other tables. At that point, you can eliminate poeple who do not have ancestors themselves, but are married to people who have more than one generation of ancestors.
The details of how to do that depend on the details of your tables. If you'd like help, then post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for all tables) and the results you want from that data.
