Creating a custom halftone pattern.

I'm trying to create a halftone pattern using a custom pattern. I have tried the bitmap route, i.e BITMAP/CUSTOM PATTERN but this just tiles the pattern at a fixed size varying the thickness depending on the shade. I need a halftone pattern that scales.
Does anyone know how to do this?

James Talmadge has an impressive Script that does this, albeit in Adobe Illustrator, named »Faux Halftone«.

Its application is somewhat time-consuming and it provides only semi-automation, but I consider it remarkable non the less.
Plus being in Illustrator one can »randomize« the resulting instances of Symbols by globally applying Effect Distort & Transform Transform, for example enter an Angle and set to Random, if one wishes.

First, create the pattern in Illustrator and save it as a pattern swatch. Apply the pattern to a certain size squares to your liking, expand it, then flatten the transparency copy and paste from Illustrator to Photoshop as a path/smart object.
From there, you can define it as a pattern in Photoshop.

Instead of the typical circular pattern that is used I am looking to create a halftone pattern using a logo.

What do you mean by "offset"? Are you talking about the rotation of the screen?
The only "benday screens" I'm familiar with are those that used to be applied to things like cartoons or other line drawings to create tints or suggest shading. They were nothing more than tint screens printed on an adhesive overlay sheet that was applied and cut with an Exacto knife. If memory serves, they weren't always dots. There were lines and hatches, and mezzotints in various densities, too.

What do you mean by "photographic dot screen"? All such pre-computer graphics films involved litho camera photography in their manufacturing process. If by "photographic dot screen" you mean a subtle fuzziness or irregularity, that may be due to the manufacturing process (did you know that Zipatone lettering sheets were screen printed?) or the repro process (acutal dot gain and spreading in the printing).

How to create a custom tag for a custom converter

In Jdeveloper 11g, I have a project where I have created a custom converter class that impements the javax.faces.convert.Converter class. I have registered the converter with an id in the faces-config.xml file of the project, and the converter works fine by using the <f:converter type="myconverter"> tag. However, the custom converter has a field which I would like to set from the tag itself. Hence, I would like to add an attribute to <f:converter> tag if possible or create a custom tag that has the attribute.
I have done some reserach and I found that a custom tag can be implemented: I need to create a class which extends from the ConverterTag class or javax.faces.webapp.ConverterElTag class, which I did, but I also need to create ".tld" (tag library) file which defines the tag itself.
The part about creating the ".tld" file and registring the new tag is what I'm not sure how to do.
Does someone know how to do this?

that's a good document, and it explains how to make a custom converter. I already created the custom converter, it converts a number to any currency pattern. I know java already has a currency converter, but it doesn't support Rupee currency format, and I need that format.
My converter works, but I would like to pass the pattern of the format through an attribute in a tag. Since f:converter doesn't seem to support that, I created a custom tag which uses my converter, and it enables me to pass a pattern to the converter.
All of that works, but I need to be able to pass the pattern as an EL expression, and it's not evaluating the expression before passing it to the converter. It just passes the whole expression as a string. I'm thinking It may be something I'm doing wrong.

Creating a custom datasource

hai all,
I saw one example in jmf website "LiveStream", in which we can play the video with RGP format(custom data). They will create the video data in RGP format and we can create the test pattern. have any body tried that, if you are able to do that, kindky let me know that.

Recoloring a halftone pattern in Illustrator

Hello, I have a question regarding changing the color of a halftone pattern created in Illustrator. Here is what I do step by step: 1) fill the expanded text with a black and white gradient 2) apply Effects>Pixelate>Color Halftone 3) expand the halftone pattern 4) use Image Trace on the halftone (with "Ignore White" selected) 5) expand the vectorized halftone pattern. So far, so good, but when I select the halftone pattern and try to change its color the whole block around the halftone gets recolored (not the halftone pattern itself). Here is a picture:

More items are being selected than needed. There is an often overlooked tool that can help you.
Double click on the magic wand tool to change the settings, (you can turn on stroke color also so less times are elected) then click on one of the black filled circles with the magic wand to select black filled paths only.

Simple halftone patterns in Photoshop CS5 - I've done it before but cannot find it again

Hi all,
I'm using Photoshop CS5 on Mac OS X. Last year I created an artwork including colour half tones, but also some other simple halftone filter that I applied to layers of solid colour (see attached image - you may need to view it at 100% to see what I mean)
It's a simple half tone pattern of white vs 1xcolour using either circles or squares. I remember that this was applied simply, not any special process as I didn't go out of my way to create this effect I just stumbled upon it. I can't for the life of me remember how to do it again. Has anyone else come across this? If anyone can point out how it's done that would be much appreciated.

The Filter>Sketch>Halftone Pattern seems consistent in getting the square pattern, but very inconsistent in getting circles, as you mentioned.
You could make your own pattern or see if one of these pre-made patterns work.

Is there a way to create a custom screensaver with pics/slides that display for different amounts of time?

Is there a way to create a custom screensaver with pics/slides that display for different amounts of time? Or even add a "video slide" into the screensaver?
My business has 3 TVs displayed in our lobby, each with its own apple TV and they are all linked to the same photo stream. Currently the Atv screensaver displays the photostream pictures of our products for the default 3 seconds. We just added pics/slides that now display messages and useful info for our customers but I want that info to be displayed for a longer period of time than the pictures to give people a chance to read it.
I tried using flickr and powerpoint as a work around but no luck. I created a slide in powerpoint with play length of 15 secs and saved it as a wmv file. I added that file to a "screensaver" set in flickr and pointed the Atv screensaver to that flickr set. It still displays everything, pics and the wmv file at the default 3 sec.
I know I can increase the duration of all pics in the screensaver to display for longer but the goal is to have the pics display at 3 secs and the info slides to display at 15 secs.

The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
Menu > Format > Import Styles
The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.

The problem is that Web Templates are deployed to a gallery in a site collection and aren't available in Central Admin when creating a new site collection. YOu have to create the site collection without choosing a template and then choose your web
template when you first access the root site in the site collection. Here's an article that discusses that process here:

Create a custom Master Page in SharePoint Foundation 2013

Hi,
I am new to SharePoint foundation.
I am trying to create a custom master page and save it as template, so that i can use it for all other sub sites. But i don't know where to start. Also i tries searching in Google, i got results for share point and not for share point foundation.
So, Please give me a step by step procedure or a link to step by step procedure on how to create a master page, save it as template and use it for a sub site.

Few points to note related to SharePoint Master page:
You don't need to create master page template. If you deploy your master page in site collection level you can reuse the same master page in subsites without copying again and again, rather just by referencing
You have not mentioned how you are going to deploy your master page. If you have any Visual Studio (VS) solution already, try to add your master page in the VS solution and deploy your master page (and other branding components) as SharePoint WSP
solution.
Deploying master page will not activate the master page, you need to use some kind of 'Web Level Feature' to activate your branding - the feature will basically set the master page property of SharePoint site to your custom master page.
