Creating A Dynamic Bilingual Form

I'm a relative newbie just trying to figure out the best way to create a single form which would allow the user to change the language (English/French) on-the-fly. So based on what the user selects as their language (radio button) all of the text captions AND tool tips associated with the text fields would then be displayed in that language. Is there an efficient way to implement some sort of "resource file" or "lookup table" with the text field name as a key, and the corresponding English and French caption values, and then just load this English or French caption value depending on what language the user chose? I'm not expecting a detailed solution, just maybe a broad idea of the best way to go about doing this, to at least get me pointed in the right direction.

Technically that is certainly doable but depending on how complicated the form is (how many objects need to be updated) you can affect performance. If it takes more than a few seconds to change the text then users will complain. Also you will have layout issues where a caption in Englsih takes a certain amount of space then changing it to French usually means that more space is required. For these reasons most people end up with two different forms and load the appropriate one for the user.

Creating a dynamic interactive form

I have been working at trying to get a text field that expands when more text is added to the field. I have been looking at the sample Purchase Order form that came with Designer and when I look at the properties of the subform for the comments field near the bottom of the page I see options that are grayed out when I look at the properties of the subform that I have made. I'm just not getting it and seeing what to do to get thing to work.
For example when I go to look at the Object > Subform properties everything is grayed out except the Type, Presence, and Locale fields. In the Object > Binding properties everything below Name, Default Binding and Import/Export Bindings fields is grayed out.
Without knowing what else to look into I'm stuck.
I have tried working with the tutorial in the Designer help but there is no tutorial for a dynamic interactive form just a dynamic form that apparently doesn't work the same way.

OK. I think I got this figured out why the fields are grayed out.
But how do I get a field to grow when I finaly open the pdf document in Acrobat 7?

Is it possible to create items,i.e. Text items,display items etc. dynamically?
Suppose I select Table name EMP,then it must get all columns from database and place it on form.Now I change table name from EMP to DEPT,now it should get all columns for dept table and place it on same form removing all EMP table colums.I should not have to call another form,i.e. it should be strictly done through single form.

You can make a form with 10 or more items (depends on the maximum number of the columns you have) and place them in a non base table block. Then you populate the block with a cursor and if you press a button you can populate the same block with another cursor making visible only the columns you need.

Creating a Dynamic Tabular Form

This is a question aimed at Denes Kubicek, but if he is not on the forum today then maybe someone else could help me.
I am trying to create a tabular form on a table view. The thing is that the primary key is not populated using a trigger, the primary key is 2 varchar columns.
For Example.*
SVC_NAME
SVC_HST_IP
SVC_NUM
SVC_DB_TYPE
SVC_APP_TYPE
SVC_APP_NAME
SVC_BK_TYPE
So i am trying to create a tabular form based on the above columns, where the SVC_NAME and SVC_HST_IP are going to be inserted as the primary keys.
I have seen on Denes Kubiceks APEX website that he has been able to create a tabular form which could meet my requirements, Tabular Form Dynamic. The only thing is that i am falling at the first step. Please could someone provide me with some direction as regards to where to put the code?
What I have done to this point is place section 1 of the code "1. SQL Query / PL/SQL Function Returning SQL Query" in a report. However, when I run the page I get "failed to parse SQL query:ORA-00936: missing expression" error message. I assume that section 2 and 3 will be application processes but I have not got to that point yet. I am not sure about section 4.
Any help would be appreciated,

which applies in your case. Using ROWID is also an option.
Whatever later you call your primary key is not important since this example uses ROWID.

Need to Create a Dynamic Tablular Form in APEX

Can someone point me to the APEX documentation that discusses how to create a tabular form that can be dynamic (I can add or change data in the table)? Similar to a report, but where the data can be modified.

How to create a Dynamic IAF in WD

Dear all,
We'd like to create a dynamic interactive form based on a XDP in a WebDynpro application. How can we achieve this?
We tried to use setDynamicPDF() and setInteractive(), but it looks like ADS doesn't create a dynamic pdf.
Only the master page is being displayed.
Any ideas how to create a dynamic interactive form via ADS and how to determine if the pdf is a dynamic interactive form (in the browser).

Use the following code to get a dynamic pdf document created in your <b>wdDoModifyView()</b> method. Make use of the firstTime flag there if required :

setDynamicPDF(boolean) nmethod has been deprecated in 04. Moving forward to 04s, you will have a different set of APIs to deal with such requirements. Hence the abiove mentioned method will be taken off with the next major release of NetWeaver.
<b>How do you know whether the pdf document created is static or dynamic ?</b> Well, save the form locally and open it in the designer. Go to File > Form Properties > <b>Compatibility</b> Tab. Check your <b>Form Type</b> there.

Hyperlink in a dynamic PDF form

I've created a dynamic PDF form in LiveCycle designer, and I want to insert hyperlink in to this form - but I don't know how to do it. My Link Tool in Adobe Acrobat is inactive.

I just needed to change text field to rich text and now I'm able to insert an URL. But now another problem pops up - I'd like to open directly from this PDF a file stored on the DFS file sharing server. My links open in browser - how can I fix this please?

Creating a Better Search Form

I'm trying to figure out how to create a dynamic search form
using Coldfusion 8.
Right now if I enter multiple words in my search field the
results omit certain records. For example, if I put "toy blue" in
the search field it will return results that only have "TOY BLUE"
together and omits any records that only have "TOY" or only have
"Blue" in the column being searched.
Is there a way to add the following abilities to my basic
search code located at the bottom of my post:
- Search multiple words that are entered in the criteria
input field.
- The words can be separated by commas, spaces, or the word
"and".
- Have it so you can search multiple word phrases by using
quotes.

This is the relevent sql
and (itemName LIKE '%#form.criteria#%' or itemDescription
LIKE '%#form.criteria#%')
substituting the variable, it looks like this
and (itemName LIKE '%TOY BLUE%' or itemDescription LIKE '%TOY
BLUE%')
You have to treat form.criteria as a list, and loop through
it.

Java Library for dynamic PDF form creation similar to LiveCycle Designer

I have a requirement as below :
Requirement : I need to create a dynamic PDF form with a barcode of type PDF417. Where a user can fill the form offline and after click on some button it will save the form offline and generate a barcode in the same PDF. Later on usaer can take a printout or send the saved pdf as it is.
Currently I am able to create such pdf from using LiveCycle Designer. But I need to create it manually using designer and then need to apply Reader Extension on it using livecycle server.
I want to do this programatically. I would like to create a similar form using some Java Library.
Is it possible to create it dynamicaly(using programs)? how ?
Does any one know how to acheive this ?
Can anyone help me please ?

Sending dynamic interactive form to GP

dear expert,
i have create a dynamic interactive form that allow user to populute new instance of row when clicking the "add row" button.
After collecting the user's input data and hit on the submit button, it will send the form to the guided procedure.
I have now only able to successfully create a static form and allow value to pass to the guided procedure.
Can some one who have experience in submitting dynamic form to the guided procedure offered me some advice.

HELP!!! Can anyone please provide some guidance on how to create a dynamic form where selected text boxes appears, based on options chosen in a drop-down box.
I have a form which – based on the department that's selected from a drop-down box – will have different form fields/text boxes, etc, made available.

In the preOpen event of the second dropdown list you put something like (in formCalc):

How to create a dynamic form with bind variables :schema & :table_name

My application has two LOV's, one to select a schema, and the next to select a table within that schema. I then have a button which passes me to a report which displays the data in that table.schema.
I now want to create a link to a form where I can edit the record based on the rowid of that table.schema, but it doesn't appear that I can create a dynamic form where I pass the schema.table_name and rowid. Is this possible? Can anyone advise how I can do this? The form builder only wants a fixed schema/table name.

Hi Stuart,
In this sort of situation, you will need to be a bit creative.
I would suggest a pipeline function called as if it was a report.
Then you can pipe out the required fields.
Since you will have a variable number of fields, you could use two of the multi row field names for your field names and values.
Then after submit, you can create your own procedure to loop through the fields (stored for you in the Apex package) and update the table as required.
Not very specific I'm afraid, but it should work.

How to create a dynamic link in a Form to link to a specific FOLDER

I have created a reports of all employees of my department.
This reports shows me the empno and ename
When I clicked on a empno ( for example empno = 1 ) then then I got a MASTER DETAIL FORM about that employee(empno = 1) .
Who he or she is and which course he or she had followed.
I want create a dynamic link in the MASTER DETAIL FORM which shows me directly the folder of that employee ( in this example folder 1 ).
If I clickt on the report with all employees of my department on an other number ( for example empno = 3333333) then if I click on the dynamic link in the MASTER DETAIL FORM I want to see the folder of employee 3333333 !!! You know what I mean ?
What I want to know is, how to create a dynamic link that shows me directly a folder which is dependent on which empno I had clicked on in the report ( report with employee numbers and ename )
Is there any way to pass some parameters into a link to a Folder ? Is this possible in Portal ? Does anyone know how to do this, or do you have a suggestion how to solve this problem ?

I will explain it to you again.
I have created a report that shows me all employees. If I click on a employee number then I get an MASTER DETAIL FORM on my screen with all the information(where he works now and which number I have to dial ifhow can I reach him by telephone) of that employee on which number I clicked on.
I really like this mechanism. (You click on a number and the information that you see in the next screen is dependent of the number you clicked on ! )I have created all this. It works fine.
What I want is to expand this example.
Every employee has a FOLDER (yes, those ones in Content Area ) which they can insert text or image into that folder. The folder name is just the employee number. ( employee with employee number 3303, he owns a folder which is named 3303 and an employee with empno 9999, he or she owns a folder with the name 9999. )
Every employee can tell more about himself in that FOLDER by iserting text and images. For example : What he likes, pictures of his vacation, something like this.
What I want is this :
If I click on the first report,which provides me all employees on screen, on a employee number 3303 then I get a Master Detail Form on my screen with all information about that employee with employee number 3303. And I want in this MASTER DETAIL FORM to create a link that shows me directly the FOLDER of that employee ( 3303), so I can learn more about employee with employee number 3303. But I don't know how to create this link.
That link had to be dependent on the employee number. The difficult thing about this link is that this link had to be dynamic.

Does Ipad adobe reader allow to fill a dynamic xml form created on LiveCycle?

The form was created using LiveCycle Designer ES3 for the purpose of being filled out on the spot at the client and then submitted as email attachment. However, Adobe reader does not seem to be able to open it giving the following error:
"Please wait... If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document..."
The form is dynamic XML, and in the description of the Adobe Reader for the Ipad, it mentions that it is capable of opening forms under the Livecycle rights.
However, if the Reader can not open dynamic XML's, how can I convert the form into a compatible fillable form for the Ipad?

LiveCycle Dynamic XML Forms are not supported in the Mobile versions of Adobe Reader.
