Creating a master table and using it to populate other tables.

Hi everyone.
I am a novice at using Numbers and I need some direction.
I am looking to create a master table with information for our summer camp. This table will include vital information such as name, address, etc. along with cabin assignments, tuitions received, and more.
We will separate this information into smaller tables that different portions of that master table for specific use. Such as: names and addresses for leaders, names and tuitions for registration, etc.
My goal is to type the information into the master table and have it update the other tables automatically. Can someone direct me how to format the master and sub tables so that this is possible?
I would greatly appreciate it and it will greatly reduce the record-keeping time for our camp.

Hi Roy,
Welcome to the Numbers discussions. You are giving us a tall order, especially when we don't know your level of experience in programming spreadsheets.
Here are a couple of basics to start the conversation...
In normal spreadsheet programming, we Pull data from one location into another, we don't Push it or Send it. This should help you to understand that the hard work is done in the sub tables, not the master.
You will use LOOKUP functions to pull the data to your sub tables. Download the Numbers User Guide and the Formulas and Functions User Guide and read up on them.
In your master table, make sure you have one column that uniquely identifies each participant so it will be easy to reference that person in your sub tables.

    One more thing : From performance point of view you have to Replace that loop using FOR ALL ENTRIES . And avoid CORRESPONDING FIELDS. it will be slow.

    If you are using MSSQL SERVER then try creating a stored procedure like this

    by executing this in sql query analyzer will create a stored procedure that returns all the data from Table

    I have a new powerbook and want to give my girlfriend my old G4 power book, she has a new iphone 5s, and wants to create a new itunes/apple id. When i try to de authorize the G4 and sign in with her new apple ID it says bad password, how can i release the G4 from my cluster of authorized apples and make her the owner so she can download music and more importantly sync her music with her phone, she only has 3 songs on her iphone, and loaded all her CD's into the g4 but cant sync, im no dummy and this shouldnt be hard, but its driving me crazy!!!!!!

    As others mentioned, memory optimized tables and disk based tables have different structures in SQL Server 2014.
    For memory optimized tables, the number of indexes on table also contribute to the size. You can calculate the exact size of rows and thus the table size using the formula given in the below articles

  • Table referenced by more than one other table

    I'm no DBA so I was wondering if you could answer this fairly basic question. If I have a table that references more than 1 other table. For example Order links to a customer or Order can link to an Employee how would I represent that in the data model?
    I'm guessing I could have the Order table have both an Employee ID and a Customer ID columns and null one or the other out depending on whether it was linked to an Employee or Customer but that seems a bit redundant in that there would always be at least one column being null.
    Perhaps I could use table inheritance and just add the relevant foreign key col on the inherited tables but I'm fairly sure you can't have abstract tables.

    I have a script task written in C# that creates an array of strings "arrayFields" after parsing a text file. It saves the array of strings in a DTS variable.
    Each row in array represents a row is comma separated and is a row that must be inserted into a table. For example,

    I am using a Foreach Loop  to grab each row and then  Execute SQL Task to take each row from the array and insert each field per row in a table,

  • Script task error during the creation of partition by reading a table and using AMO - SSAS 2012

    Hi,
    I need to create SSAS (tabular) and process partitions in an authomatic manner. Moreover, the partitioning is respect to a category, an year and a month.
    Category, year and month are resident on a table to read to create the SSAS partitions.
    So, in a SSIS pkg:
    a. I've created a data flow task to read the SQL Server table having category, year and month data,
    b. I've connected the output of the ole db source as the input for a recordset destination, associated to an object variable,
    c. I've used a for each loop container (ado enumerator) specifying the object variable and three variables, for category, year and month,
    d. inside the for each loop container I've created a script task using AMO (visual basic) to control for any existing partitions, if not presents to create the new ones and then to process them.
    For the first iteration, a new partition has been created and processed successfully, but then, for other category, year and month values the script task fails. I've controlled the code many times and I've tried to put returning messageboxes but I've found
    anything. The error is a generic one and no other info are returned.
    Well, any suggests to me in order to solve this issue, please?

    When I compile this procedure, I am getting invalid datatype Oracle error and
    cursor points the datatype t_lookup in the CAST function.
    1. Can anyone tell me what is wrong in this. Can I convert a PL/SQL collection (pl/sql table in this case) to PL/SQL datatype table or does it need to be a SQL datatype only (which is created as a type in database).
    Also, to resolve this error, I have created a SQL type and table type instead of PL/SQL table in the package as shown below.

    3. What does that mean?

    However unless I am mistaken you appear to have invented your own syntax for CREATE TYPE, suggest you refer to Oracle documentation.

    For our purposes here:
    Table 1 = "Step 2 - Product Sizes"
    Table 2 = "Option id Master"
    Table 3 = "Export - Product Info"
    Table 1:
    The user would enter values for "productcode," "Horz," and "Vert"
    "Size" would auto fill based on values in Horiz and Vert (I have this taken care of already).
    Table 2: This is a completely static table that I want to search against. - Data from other tables in the doc does not alter or change the data in this doc.
    We just want to look at table 2. Find the existing value in "table 2 : size" column that matches the "table 1 : size" column  and then pull the "optionids" and "productprice" from that row.
    Can the value from "Table 1 : Size" be used as a search term in "Table 2 : Size?"
    Table 3: The user does not enter any values on this table. 
    "productcode" is pulled from table 1 - "Table 1 :: A5" = "Table 3 :: A5"
    "optionids" and "productprice" are pulled from Table 2 columns "D" and "E" - however we do not know which Table 2 row it is pulling from until we enter data in Table 1.
    As I'm writing this I'm realizing that
    A. this is probably really confusing to you.
    B. this may be impossible inside of numbers.
    If you have some other method that would facilitate the same out come but be structured differently please let me know.
    --- maybe to help you understand further what I am doing here is my current workflow:
    I record the size of a piece of art.
    Then I manually go to my "Option id Master" and find the same size.
    I then copy the corresponding "optionids" and "productprice" cells. (these options control the prices displayed on my website)
    I got to my "Export - Product Info" table and paste the values in the corresponding cells.
    I was hoping to automate this as it takes a long time when you have hundreds of products.

  • Get Total of a Column of Advanced Table and use it in Controller in OAF

    I have an advanced table on my custom page. I am calculating total of a column in my footer. I am acheiving this using the standard functionality of advanced table by setting total value property of my column to "TRUE" and displaying the total in the tablefooter components.
    In addition to this I want to retreive the total value from my footer and use it in my Controller for further validations but I am not able to acheive this.
    I tried some code already present in the Community for the same but nothing turned out right for me.
    Can anyone please help me on this.

      You can manually add the values of each row of a  column and make use of the value obtained in your controller .
    Here is the logic ,
    1) get the vo instnace attached to that table .
    2) Loop through every single row in the table .
    3) get the value and sum up the value and use it in your controller .

    The problem is that I defined the following structure on the |Types| tab of the |Global Definitions| section:

           LFDAT  TYPE RM06P-LFDAT,

    Then defined the following definition on the |Global Data| section:
    WA_DETAILS TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF DETAILS WITH HEADER LINE
    The problem is that when I try to assign a value to one of the fields in the program code like this:
    LOOP AT WA_EKPO.
         WA_DETAILS-EBELP = WA_EKPO-EBELP.
         WA_DETAILS-EMATN = WA_EKPO-EMATN.
         MODIFY WA_DETAILS.
    ENDLOOP.
    gives me the following error:
    "WA_DETAILS" is not an internal table -the "OCCURS n" specification is missing.
    Then if I add the "OCCURS 10" to the definition of the Global Data the error "OCCURS 10" is not expected.
    How can I define, assign values and use as a parameter an internal table defined with types for use it with the table painter?
