Creating a Region in page extension

Hi,
I am trying to extend an existing page and create a new region in that page with couple of fields. I could create a new flex layout usng personalization but i couldn't find any option to add fields to this region.
Any suggestions from anyone?
Thank you

you cannot create buttons and items withing Flex layout.
This region is intended to be used for inserting another region into a page by adding one flexible content that extends that region.

  • Create regions at page level

    Hello,
I've made a template which contains navigation, search and some style elements (images).
Some pages which will use this template will have 3 regions (columns) for content, others will only need one.
Is it possible to base these two kinds of pages on the same template with one main region, and create extra regions at page level when necessary?
    Thanks,
    Ton

    Hi Ton,
Using the page template locks down the ability to create new regions in pages that use the template with one exception - a 'hidden' feature when the page region on the template is configured with tabs. In this config, you can create new tabs at the page level and within these new tabs define page unique region layouts.
Another option to consider is to build your nav, search, style elements as nav pages, expose them as page portlets, place them on your template, create your end user facing pages using the template and disconnect the page from the template. This way changes to the nav, search, style elements you make in the nav pages will update all the end user facing pages constructed this way.

I've created a region on Page 0 which is a common place holder for items. On all the pages developers will link several items to this region.
If I copy a page that has items associated to a region on Page 0 those items are not copied. Items that are associated to regions on the current page get copied

  • ?Embedding custom region as an extension to seeded self-service page.

    Hello Tapash/All,
I am extending one of the self service pages to add extra fields on the page to capture information.
This is what I am planning to do based on the comments (from Tapash) that I got from my previous post.
    1. Create a custom table with additional columns with the primary key column that I need to capture.
    2. Create an EO, VO (based on the custom table) and AM.
    3. Create a Region RN.xml (advanced table) for the additional fields (for INSERT, UPDATE and DISPLAY on Query)
    4. Create a Controller CO on the Region (code to commit the trx in AMImpl)
    5. Attach this RN.xml to the seeded page via personalization.
    My question is:
Where and how will the entered data on the new region get inserted/updated into the custom table ? ( Since, I can't create an **Apply/Submit** button separately for the new region....because there is an ***Apply/Submit*** button already exists on that page to process the seeded data.)
Should I extend the Page controller to invoke the apply method from the AMImpl ?Please let me know and Thanks for all the help.

    Hi,
You can use a jQuery dialog.
    http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Dialog
    e.g. create html region, just say you give the region static id: floating-region, make it hidden by adding attributes: style="display: none;"then do like: $('#floating-region).dialog();
    I made another post on steps to create a dialog. See: {message:id=9506160}

  • Create Item with no Page Regions, but with P0 Region Issue

    Hi,
Suppose you have a region on Page 0 called: P0_REGION. You then create a page, P100, with no region. If you try to create a Page Item you get the following message:
    Unable to Create Page Item
You must create at least one region before you can create a page item.
Shouldn't we be allowed to create a page item and apply it to the P0 region? I didn't file this as a bug since I didn't know if this is what should happen.
    Thank you,

    Hi Roel,
Not exactly. I have a common region on Page 0 which contains buttons, jQuery Tabs etc. On each Page, P100 for example, I put items into that region for display purposes. I don't want to create these at P0 Items since they will be run for each page (or I'll have to put a lot of conditions on them).

    Hello JudyEllis,
Take a look at the output source code for your PHP page when viewed in the browser. You actually have multiple nested opening and closing HTML and body tags in your page. It appears maybe you're using includes, for instance with your header and footer, but your include files are entire HTML documents, not just the chunks of code you need.

    <af:region value="">

    Hi,
Instead of using region, try using <af:declarativeComponent> for this.

  • How to create a watermark in Pages?

I seem to remember there was a process by which an image could be use to create a watermark in pages but there is no longer anything in Help.  Is this still available?

    SG,
    Text Wrap:
In the Wrap Inspector, with an object selected, you can select "Object causes wrap". The option causes the object to push text out of its way. You are telling me that you don't want this, so make sure the option is turned off.
    Background:
The background layer is behind the text layer. If you want your objects (graphics, text boxes, shapes) to obscure the text that you type normally, leave the objects on top. If you would like to have the text overlay the objects, then send the objects to the Background.
    Section Master:
Giving an object Section Master status causes it to repeat on every page of the section. That's every page of the document for most people since the average user doesn't make use of Section Breaks. I asked if your documents had more than 1-page, but I don't think you responded.
    Registration:
You say you just want to type away on the text layer and have things line up with your background template. Good luck with that. You are going to have terrible problems with the pitch of your text matching the scale of your background object. You may be ok at the top, but by the time you get to the bottom of the page the chances are you will be off a half a line. Better to use Text Boxes and align each one with the appropriate region of the template.
    Dexterity:
There are ways to deal with eye-hand coordination and steadiness issues. Objects can be shifted by using the arrow keys and they can be sized and positioned by using the Metrics Inspector. And, remember that you only have to do the tedious stuff once. After that, Save as Template
The biggest problem I have with the new-fangled machines is that they are designed by kids with better vision than I will ever have again. They have no idea how much trouble us old guys have seeing the menus and instructions. The Mac App Store is one of the worst examples, where you can't even resize the text. The universal access tools for the vision impaired in System Preferences don't help me because I can't stand the look, or the loss of font smoothing. For critical work I reluctantly put on the strongest reading glasses and lower my nose to the screen.
    Good luck,

  • Cannot create a region from a task flow containing facelets fragments in a

    hi
Please consider ADF applications migrated from JDeveloper 11g R1 to 11g R2 [1].
When using JDeveloper 11g R2 to create a task-flow containing facelets fragments and dropping it on an existing/migrated page (created using JDeveloper 11g R1) results in a message :
"Cannot create a region from a task flow containing facelets fragments in a jspx page.".
What would be "good guidelines" (do's and don't's) of using facelets aspects in an ADF application migrated from JDeveloper 11g R1 to 11g R2?
    - [1] e.g. specifically JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 to JDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0, see also forum thread "migration support from 11.1.1.6.0 to 11.1.2.4.0"
at migration support from 11.1.1.6.0 to 11.1.2.4.0

    Thanks for your reply Timo.

... We had this discussion before: is 11.1.2.4.0 a good migration target? ...Can you refer to that discussion exactly.

which does not talk about migration to 11g R2.
... My answer was and still is: No. ... I don't see a reason why to do a migration to 11.1.2.x. ...We are considering if a migration to 11g R2 will allow us to make our application "facelets ready", which could potentially allow easier migration to 12c .
Altough Brian Fry (Oracle) wrote "Re: choosing JDeveloper 11g R1 or JDeveloper 11g R2", the "facelets considerations" in this current forum thread could suggest something different.
... I know that we have to migrate to 12c once it'll be available so why the extra step? ...There could be layout requirements that can be perceived to be more easily/flexibly implemented using facelets.
A team could have resources available now, and maybe not in a couple of months (related to wanting/needing to use facelets, and related to the "perceived/expected complexity" of an 11g R1 to 12c migration compared to an 11g R2 to 12c migration).
... (you know how complex this can be) ...Maybe less knowing, and more trying to find out.

  • Performance Test on OAF Page Extensions

    Hi ,
We have extend the seeded page controller&VO to achieve the business requirement.
Could you please suggest/update me if we have any free ware to do the performance test on OAF page extension and customization's.
    Regards,
    Venkatesh Chandra.

    Hi Gaurav,
I followed your instruction and all it does is display the pages as "tabs" horizontally on the page. What I actually want is a Side bar on the left hand region exactly like the instructions and example in the Framework developers guide. The set up for a sidebar (according to the developers guide) is much more involved as I posted in my first message above.
An example of a side navbar in e-Business suite can be found under Functional Administrator responsibility > Personalization tab > Import/Export.
I have looked at the menu definitions for this page/function, and I've also had a look in the Page XML but I cannot replicate it with my custom page. The setup used for that example page also does not conform to the OAF developers guide instructions.
So again in the absence of any useable examples in eBusiness Suite I'm rather stuck with the OAF developer's guide so any tips would be gratefully accepted.
    Rgds

  • Creating a simple search page

    Hi all,
I am trying to create a simple search page using Jdeveloper 9.03 OA Framework that will allow the user to search for records in a view based on a few key columns.
Are there any resources available which show a step by step process for doing a simple search? I followed the User Guide as far as being able to create the EOs, VOs and the query page region but I dont know how to get the results of the VO in the query page.
There has got to be an easy way of getting such a apparently simple task done. I get the impression J Developer is unnecessarily complicated... Why couldnt there have been Wizards for common development tasks? It just seems unnecessarily confusing.
I'd appreciate any help on this, no matter how insignificant. Im at an impasse here.
    Thanks,
    Rylan

Thanks for the reply! That is precisely what I need to do.
I did that, and it worked, but with one major problem... For some reason, it only works on the seeded tables in the AK schema. Those work without any problem. I tried making my own test tables also in the AK schema but when I try to search non AK seeded tables. it errors out. Funny thing is it errors out only when there are records found. If there are no records found the page displays correctly.
Ive tried everything I can think of.
I made a two column table with primary keys, unique indexes, not null conditions, everyting that seemed special about the seeded AK tables to see if I could prevent the error from coming... no luck.
I suspect it is a bug... Has any one ever got this error before?
    The error message is :

  • Button created among region items cannot be horizontally aligned

If I create a button amongst region items, and say new line = NO and new field = YES, it creates the button in its own table cell. However there is no apparent interface to horizontally (or vertically for that matter) align the button within the cell.
If I create any other region item, or a button in a region position, I can see the alignment options which work as expected.
    Am I missing something here?

A workaround here is to add the item as post element text on the previous item in sequence. But then the item is "lost" when looking at the page edit screen, and common editing features are not available.
I see no logical reason why a button created amongst region items should not have all the operations permitted on it as do the regular region items.
