Creating a secure elections database

Hi folks,
I'm coming back to the people who have been so much help in the past! Now that I've got a member login/member update info section working on my site, I need to do the next thing for my client, which is set up an online elections page that posts to an "election" table in my database. I've got the table set up and the page working, via Insert Record Wizard that uses radio groups for the various choices. Everything is posting to the database great.
I have one concern and would appreciate advice on the following: How do I prevent a member from logging in and voting multiple times? Right now I have a page set up where after they log in, they come to a page with two links: one to "Update your info" and another to "Participate in the 2010 board elections." Right now they can click on these links (both pages have restricted access) multiple times, which I want in the first case but not in the second. Do I need to create a separate login for the election page, and if so, how do I restrict the voting form to only ONE submission per member?
In my main Users table, I have the primary key set as user_id and then I have a field for email addresses. I thought of using the email address somehow as a check, but would like the election process to be entirely anonymous. Right now data just populates to the election table with no member identification, which I like. Will I have to sacrifice this?

BC's solution looks like it requires updating two tables at once - linking via a foreign key, something I've read about but not tried to do yet. Bregent's solution looks like (I think) managing this with one table, which might be simpler for me. I have a few questions about how to implement this:
You said " create another table that links the user to a specific election (by date, election id, or whatever)." Does this mean I should copy the user_id field from my users table to the election table? How do I create this link?
Then add the status field. I can handle that. I'm not sure how to change this field from 'y' to 'n' after a person votes. How do I change the value and then check it if someone logs in again? This question applies to both solutions I guess.
A step-by-step would help me enormously, as I'm new to this. Thanks in advance,

Create new Security Policy in UME is not available

Hello,
We are on NW CE 7.1 EHP1 and MII 12.1.7 build 47.
I have MII Super Administrator role, few custom roles and I also have Action "Manage_All" and I am able to perform most of the activities on UME but I don't see any option to create new security policies all I can do is modify the Default Security Policy and save it.
It never shows me an option to create new security policy and I am not sure what roles or actions I am missing.
1) Are there any roles or actions that my profile needs to have?
2) Is it something to do with NW CE version or MII version?
3) Has something gone wrong or have we missed some configuration while installing NW CE or MII?
Any suggestions will be of great help

I am not a NW UME expert, but I know this issue has nothing to do with MII. Not sure if you have rights but providing the Administrators Group for the UME database should allow you to do this.
I would try posting this thread on the NW UME Forum. Modifying policies in NW has nothing to do with MII.
Just to verify what policies are you trying to change, I am assuming they are in NW UME and not MII, is this correct? If they are in MII can you be more specific.

What version of EAL have you installed, what OS + 32bit/64bit are you installing it on.

Time to create a security copy

I want to change my device through BB desktop software. When I connect my actual device (BB curve 9360), it's take too much time to create the security copy, is it normal?? It seems like it stops at the smart card options data base.

It look two ways either you dont have permission to write any new thing to that domain.properties file or might file is got corrupted.

I haven't seen the ora-03116 problem.
What version of Portal are you running? Are the databases at the same version? Does your table have longs or anything strange in it?
Can you query the table via the synonyms and link in sqlplus as the application schema? This is a good test because it eliminates Portal.
You should try setting up synonyms etc for the emp table. If you still get the problem then Oracle may be able to replicate it. If not, then there's sth funny about your table maybe.
I agree with Vishnu about creating everything in sqlplus. I create all my links and synonyms in sqlplus. They are all public. I have 2 synonyms: one takes you over the link the other takes you to the right schema. It's flexible and it works.
data database: D grants to P (local schema) on table T
public syn T = D.T (sys) (get the right schema)
portal dbase : public db link to data database connecting as P
public syn T = T@dblink (sys) (over the link)
P is a schema created in both databases.
Test is: P in portal dbase can "select * from T" and gets the right data.
I never, ever refer to a schema when defining a form. ie. never P.T or D.T or whatever. I always refer simply to a synonym. For the above my form would be defined simply on the table T.

If you need the entire database to a single location ... use Data Guard.
If you need to specify tables, columns, schemas, rules, and are in a
publish-subscribe situation use Streams.
Both are share a common architecture.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

I think what you need to do is create an identity sequence with RSA as the selection in
Authentication and Attribute Retrieval Search List and AD in Additional Attribute Retrieval Search List. Then select this sequence as the result in the identity policy for the service

How many users can we create in an oracle database? Or how many users can oracle handle?
Problem-
I have to store information of ontologies (I will use countries instead) in db.
I have to store information regarding countries.
I have 13 tables in all to maintain for each country.
Now there are two approaches:
1) keep only 13 tables. Have an extra column in each table to indicate that a particular
row stores information for which country.
2) create a new user/ schema for each country. So we can get rid of the extra column
needed in 1st approach.
I have used the second approach. This is because number of entries in each table for a
given country will be large.
So initially when the s/w is installed I create a central-user. Each time data for new
country has to be entered central-user creates a user/ schema, and creates tables for
this user/ schema. The central user can access the tables of all the countries by

There is no (practical at least) limit to the number of users & schemas you can have in Oracle.
Your approach, however, is not going to scale nearly as well as the first option you outlined (adding a column). You are going to end up caching every possible variation of the various queries you're going to be executing because you will be referring to so many different tables, which is going to mean that you are doing a lot more work to parsing statements and generally churning through the shared pool. If you create enough users, you're liable to start hitting ORA-04030 errors because your shared pool is so fragmented.
Additionally, you're likely going to end up with a whole lot of dynamically generated SQL to accommodate new schemas getting added over time which is going to cause you even more pain. Figuring out dynamically what table to join in is a heck of a lot more difficult for the programmer to write and for the database to handle than simply passing in a different country code.
If you're concerned about having too much data, you can have your cake and eat it to by adding the country column and partitioning the tables based on country.

One other item I forgot to mention is maintainability. Having dozens or hundreds of "identical" schemas makes maintenance a huge pain because something like adding a new column now requires dozens or hundreds of separate DDL statements. You're almost guaranteed that some schema isn't going to be in sync-- it's going to miss a column or miss an index, etc.

ERROR in creating a Physical Standby Database

I am using a Windows Vista O/S and Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition. Both my primary and standby are on the same host. Created standby instance using oradim.
I have followed instruction in the documentation and created a manual standby database.
primary database is 'orcl'
standby database is 'stby'
My primary archives is not being copied to the the stby location as confirmed by an error shown:

OK that solves part of the problem.
Now this is very strange error I am getting. The path it looks to recover from archive is not right, it should point as per my actual archive log dest. See below.
