Creating a UML Diagrams for existing code?

Is there a way for netbeans to generate UML Diagrams for existing files? Does it generate them automatically?

Right click on the class, package or project you want to model and select "Reverse Engineer" from the popup menu. This assumes that you're using version 6.

How to generate Sequence Diagrams for existing code

I have a web application written in Java/Jsp's. I am looking to generate sequence diagrams automatically for the existing source code using this tool. I am not sure if this is possible using this tool. Can some one please explain me if that is possible using this IDE tool? If so can you please let me know how this can be done?

Hi,
Yes, you can reverse engineer operations and create sequence diagrams using Java Studio Enterprise.
Just right-click on the operation in the UML model that has the source file associated with it, and select "Create Diagram from Selected elements" or "Reverse Engineer Operation".

I have already posted a thread regarding Data Flow diagram for existing source code. But I couldn't find find where exactly I have posted. So here I am posting my observations. I would like to prepare a Data Flow diagram for existing Source code. Using Visustin V7 I got the Data Flow Diagram. But am not able to export or Save or Print the diagram. As some one suggested it is possible to get the DFD using Visio. But am not able to get the DFD. Here am getting the problem like , Gave user name and Server name by connecting to ODBC. But still am not getting the required DFD.
Can you please suggest me is there any way to get the DFD using Visio or any tool is there to get the DFD.

create a new class diagram and then simply drag the java classes from your project onto the diagram area.

I browsed through some of your UML. Its a great start! Would you be interested in starting a project on java.net and hosting your uml there? We now have the BluePrints projects out on java.net https://blueprints.dev.java.net/ and would like to encourage others to add their projects as well.
Lots of people have done cool stuff with Java Petstore and other blueprints projects, and lots of people have created additions to these projects. These UML diagrams would seem to be a great addition to the J2EE community on java.net http://community.java.net/java-enterprise/.
Its easy to join java.net and to create a new project. They give you a cvs repository where you can store your uml diagrams. We could include a reference to it from the blueprints since it is really useful supplemental material. By making it a project as part of the J2EE community on java.net it makesd it accessible to a larger audience of people. Not everyone will read this forum, and lots more people might find your project useful. So if you wish we had more UML for the Petstore, ....then now is your chance to make a difference :-) Maybe a project called UML4Petstore?

I am very frustrated with the API doc of Editor, HtmlDocument, StyleConstants, etc. I am a SCJD but still find it is difficult to grasp the concept of using it just from the API doc. Does it have UML diagrams for these classes?

Do you mean you select activity diagram in wizard but you see classes (not invocations/partitions etc) on created diagram?
If so.. it's a design, you just see activity diagram with inappropriate elemnts.
We support to create any diagram from any elemnts but may be it's better to block diagram creation from not appliable elemnts.

UML diagrams mapped to code?

I have the following question?
Is there any online tutorial or literature presenting
sample mapping to code of more complicated(and bigger) UML diagrams,
than the trivial one to one, many to one, many to many associations.
As you can imagine, things get more complicated easily,
especially for fairly inexperienced people?

IMHO, you do not want bigger or more complicated diagrams. Make a new diagram. Or a different view of the new behavior that you are trying to put onto one diagram. IMHO, UML should be short and sweet.
You can have a lot of diagrams, but if any one is huge and complicated, how does that fulfill the intent of communicating easilly and "universally" the way a system works? The only huge and complicated drawings I normally see day to day are data models. And that's mainly because they end up looking intimidating to lay-people (read: project managers).

If you have access to the program of the tcode, then go to that tcode click on system->status, to get the program name, go to se38 give that program name and select variants radiobutton, create the variant.

why don't you try it out?
Another route would be use customer APIs (TCA APIs)...which I am sure can achieve what you're looking for.

Creating a validation (OB28) for t.code FBZG and the doc. type

Prerequisite:   SYST-TCODE = 'FBZG'
Check:           BKPF-BLART = 'IN'
It doesn't work ...
The t.code FBZG is linked to the program RFBITB01: should I indicate, in the validation, the name of this program instead of the t.code? Which abap code should I use in this case?
Could anyone help me?

HI,
    The Tcode for executing a transaction is (in FI) rarely the required Syst-Tcode.
Make a Posting through FBZG, and then check the document header for the actual Transaction used.
Use this as your Syst-tcode, but be aware that this will validate all postings using this code and not just FBZG.

What is the best solution to create SharePoint Extranet Application for existing windows web application ?

At present my SharePoint farm is having following domains:
1) Internal Domain - Domain1
2) External Trusted Domain - Domain2
And Following Intranet WebApplications having Windows Mode Authentication:
1) http://mywebapp1.Domain1.com - Single site collection
2) http://mywebapp2.Domain1.com - Multiple site collections
3) http://mywebapp3.Domain1.com - Multiple site collections
Both Domain1 and Domain2 users are able to access above web applications.
Now , we have requirement to add other trusted domains Domain3 , Domain4...etc. and create Extranet Application and I have following questions :
What kind of topology and Authentication is required ?
AD as User Identity storage location is better way for all other domains since there is trust ?
Do I need to just extend all the web applications in extra net zone and create site collection for different domains to isolate security and content as per the need ?
Is there any other best solution to implement extranet application under current environment ?
what kind of other factors are important to consider in order to create extranet application ?

I have following information till now:
External domain will be trusted with parent domain where SharePoint is installed.
Authentication of external domain will be Windows Authentication.
User Identity storage location will be Active Directory of external domain.
Site to be accessed by external domain will be http://mywebapp1.Domain1.com
Now question is :
Should I assign external AD group ( Domain2ADGroups ) to SP Web Application http://mywebapp1.Domain1.com
OR
Should I extend the application in extranet zone for external domain and then assign permission to extended
application ?
I guess , if authentication is same then no need to extend the application - correct ?
