Creating a water Effect using AS3
Hi There
I have created a water effect in Adobe Flash using AS2,
however I now wish to create a flash application with the same
effect but using AS3.
Please see the attached code I have used to create the water
effect using AS2.
I am looking for somebody to help me change this to work in
Action Script 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are maybe talking about the cursor tooltips? The
one when you pause over a link a little box pops up
with the link or name of the link? Maybe?
If so, iweb can't do this. It make the default
tooltips the name of the link. You can edit it to
whatever you want by changing the "alt" tag in the
html.

I am creating live video effects using a midi controller on a mcabook.The final destination for the video content is an ipad app which uses the built in iPad camera to capture video. I want to "trick" the ipad into "filming" the video from the macbook with the effects. Does anyone have any ideas - software orhardware solutions are all viable. The ipad accepts audio through an Alesis iODock. I really be looking for a software solution which will over ride the built in camera on the ipad and accept a feed from the Macbook.
You can't override the physical camera and substitute the macbook camera.
You could find an app or write one that would have the macbook stream the video over wifi from the macbook to the iPad. -
Dynamic Photo Gallery in Flash using AS3.0 and XML, but it doesn't work and missed up my app.
Hi,
I am creating an iPad app using AS3. The app contains three sections.
One of those sections (chocolate sources)contains Dynamic Photo Gallery using XML. The photos, thumbnails, and text in this section are loaded from XML.
I faced may issue when I tried to run this app:
The gallery photos didn't show up
The thumbnails (buttons to navigate the photo gallery) didn't show up at all. (The thumbnails should show up under the photo gallery box.)
The text doesn't show up (the text should be in every photo as describtion)
I want to include Swipe in the photo gallery, how can I do that?
When I click on "Chocolate Sources" button, the photo gallery appears in every section, here are print screens describe what I mean:
The photo gallery covers the home screen too.

instead of

and add your thumbs to gal, not the stage. when you're done with the gallery, remove gal. -
How do I create a play button for movie clip using AS3
Hello.
Bit new to this and have been searching the adobe forums and google. I am trying to create a button that will play an imported MovieClip.
I have a movie clip that I've imported into it's own layer (Layer1) Frame 1. I've given the MovieClip an instance name of foundationMovie.
I've created a button and have that on its own layer(Layer2) above layer1, it is also in Frame 1.
I've added a
stop (); action to layer2
The video is not set to autoplay.
I want the video to start playing when the viewer clicks the button. I know I've got to put some kind of event listener using AS3 in my timeline somewhere.
I've found some code and I've been trying to work with it. I'm sure I've mutilated it beyond usability but this is what I've got.

Next, your code may get you started on your way with some changes. You shouldn't use "play" as a function name due to there already being a play() method/function in Flash.
If the movieclip is a movieclip and has an instance name of "foundationMovie", and your button has an instance name of "player" then the following adjusted code would normally work...

Creating AIR/Web Apps. with XML & E4X using AS3
Needing tips using AS3 with XML/E4X to make my project work over the server:
1) Here I'm having trouble trying to create a component with a 'GOOGLE MAP' with the user being able to input their location for directions with once submitting the get directions button that it generates the directions in the datagrid automatically.
2) Including a 'DATAGRID' for customers to be able to retain their info in a datagrid that has been updated by office personnel from an 'AIR APPLICATION' with a XML file that holds the customers info

please note that we found the problem. The problem was that we didn't configure under:
"Configuration-> Security -> Message Security -> SOAP" the voprrect provider to handle the security.
After that was done (extract of domain.xml) the message was understood.

How do I create an orange flash transition effect using Adobe Premiere CS6?
I am trying to create an orange flash transition effect using Adobe Premiere CS6 with my MAC computer.
Try this:
Add Cross Dissolve, cut and nest
Add a Fast Blur to the nest and tweak as in first screendump
Superimpose orange Color Matte and tweak as in second screendump
Make (fixed) effects into presets for future use.

Best way to create 'squash' effect in AS3
Hello all, I was just wondering what the best way to distort an object using AS3 is? I am creating a game which involves a ball-like object bouncing off several hard surfaces, ideally I'd like the ball to squash on impact (think of a soft rubber ball 'squashing' as it hits off something) and I wasn't sure what the best way to do this was? It may hit off of surfaces at any angle, so it won't simply be hitting off a horizontal plane from above otherwise I'd just use the scale funtion.
Cheers for any help with this one!add the ball to an empty parent. by changing the position of the ball (in the parent), you can use scaleX and scaleY to deform your ball in a realistic manner.

Creating a Pong game in AS3 using a tutorial
Hi,

When I add the source code to a new AS file (using Flash CS 5.5), save it as "Main.as", create a new Fla and link it in the actionscript settings to the Main.as and run it, I get errors:

saratogacoachAs Raymond said, its an issue with the 'dashes' in your if statements; they need to be minus signs, its just the wrong character.
On a related note..why are you (the tutorial?) doing basic equations in a conditional statement? 0 – 270 and 550 – 270 are always going to be the same value...why compute it on every check? -
CS6. I cant duplicate lighting effects using an alt key, just like in CS3. I dont want a new light i want to duplicata an existing one that i created.

Create script for a button to open a PDF using AS3
I created a Flash movie in AS3 on the mac. I have several
navigation buttons, I want to be able to click on a button and open
a PDF. The finished movie will be an executable for the pc. I also
want to do the same for a .swf file.Well, I think I got it working. The code I came up with seems a lot more simple than what I was experimenting with. I am pretty sure I did something earlier that was similar to this code but the current swf stayed with the player when the new one loaded, I am pretty sure the old swf is hiding underneath the new one but after some testing, the actual presentation is working as intended so I am waving the AS3 white flag and am accepting how this functions in its present state. I nearly gave myself a heart attack trying to get this simple function to work
Anyway, heres my "final" code. If anyone sees something that should be adjusted, please let me know.

Using AS3 to create a random quotes in text field
Hi,
I though this would work but unfortunately I am not pulling the txt files into the field.
It is definitley giving me random feedback.
There are ten quotes in a folder: Suzuki_quotes/quote1.txt etc
Should I not use a Dynamic Text field and create a text field using the var.

Complex animated rollover using AS3
Flash newbie here. I've been able to create a button symbol
with an embedded movie clip that animates in the rollover state.
The problem is that the animation is slightly complex - it runs for
20 frames - and when the user rolls out of the button, it quickly
reverts to it's normal state which makes the animation effect seem
jerky (i.e. unprofessional).
I know it's possible to create a movie clip with AS3 that
acts like a button but I haven't been able to find any sample AS3
code that will tell the movie clip to let the animation finish even
if the user moves the cursor off the button.
Anyone have any ideas how this could be done?Use a movieclip instead of a button. There is no way of
taming a button to remain in a state when the mouse events
change. -
How to create a ripple effect on grid
Hello,
I'm trying to distort a standard 20x20 line grid to make it look as if it has a ripple running through it. I've tried putting the grid into photoshop and using various filters but they don't seem to work. Also the liquify tool in photoshop just created messy results. I want it to have a basic 3 dimensional look. Is there a simple way to do this?

I'm trying to recreate the 3D effect of an object being dropped into water. However instead of using a solid vector, I'm trying to recreate the effect within a grid of lines. Maybe the image I uploaded above would help explain it better?
The lines in the grid need to bend and distort so that it looks as if the ripple is going through the grid.
The only thing I've done so far is create a 3d model of a ripple and use the wire frame view but when looking at it from above the lines don't create the ripple effect as you can see in the below image:
Does this make more sense now? -
Is there a way to use AS3 in slide presentation?
I'm trying to use text effects, but cannot get them to work in a slide presentation. Is there anyway to utilize AS3 in this AS2 based function? I need to use a slide show so that the presenter can control the speed of his presentation.
it doesn't matter how you create an flv or what you use to create an flv. if it's a valid flv you can play it using as2 and you can play it using as3.
