Creating an O365 SharePoint Online 2013 Web Part control (that is NOT on another domain or inside an IFrame)
We created SharePoint App that offers a Web Part we can add to SharePoint 2013 pages. The problem is that web part installs as an iframe pointing to the apps domain.
Two challenges in trying to impact the Page's DOM and elements and also accessing the pages URL query string parameters. Basically cross domain issues.
Is there any way to deploy a webpart that installs in-line as a component on the page like a Script Editor Web Part?
If that must be done as a sandbox solution, how can users on 100+ sites easily download and install this web part like web parts from the App catalog and Store?
BTW, How is it that a Script Editor Web Part installs in-line on the page without an iframe? Possible to reproduce this in our own App?
SharePoint 2013 apps are designed to be secure and must run outside of the SharePoint domain. They typically are HTML, JS and CSS and any custom compiled code is run on another web server and access via web services.
The Script Editor Web Part is a code based (compiled) "traditional" web part that runs in the SharePoint process. If you are working on premise (i.e. not Office 365), and your SharePoint admins will permit custom code to deployed to their servers,
then you can still create SharePoint 2010 style web parts. These can be deployed as "full trust" web parts or sandbox web parts. Full trust web parts are installed on the web servers while sandbox web parts need to be uploaded to a gallery
in each site collection (not each site). If your 100+ sites are in a single site collection, then only one upload is needed. If you have 100+ site collections then you could use PowerShell to deploy the sandbox solution to all of them.

Was able to but now unable to create new folder SharePoint Online 2013 G3
Hello,
I checked the item and folder limits for the library and even though the library is huge it is within limits. The option is enable and the ICON is not grayed out. When I click New Folder icon nothing happens. I am able to create folders in libraries of other
sites.Lets have these troubleshoot steps ?
What is your user permission for that library/site/collection ?
Can you create a new list / new library ?
Can you upload new document in same library
Does this happening newly created library ?
is it happening to any other subsite ?
is it happening to any other site colletion?
Did you try "new folder" from library tab from ribbon?
It is not permision issue / something else? what it is? javascript error?
did you try firefox/chrome/opera/safari?
any CEWP hidden ?

O365 SharePoint Online. Search no longer working. Where exactly are crawl logs?
On o365/SharePoint Online 2013
A few weeks Search stopped working on existing sites in SPO. New site seem to index fine. We can't find files and list entries inside doc libs and lists now.
I'm looking at Search Settings in o365 and have added myself to have access to Crawl logs,
but where are they in SPO?
We've tried re-indexing sites, but it has not helped.
All search settings are the default, and I don see any exclusion of sites.
Also, can somebody tell me what the typical turn around time is for expecting a document just added to show up on Search?Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to see the crawl log in the SharePoint online.
Per my experience, the users in the security group can view the crawl log data via the
eDiscovery portal to check whether crawled content was successfully added to the search index, or whether indexing failed because of an error.
For more information, you can refer to the following article.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/office365-sharepoint-online-enterprise-help/crawl-log-permissions-HA103675567.aspx
As this is the forum for the SharePoint server, I recommend you can post your question to the forum for SharePoint Online:
http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/154.aspx.
More experts will assist you, then you will get more information relation to SharePoint Online.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Visio Web Access Refresh in SharePoint Online 2013
I'm trying to pull in SharePoint Online 2013 List data into a Visio Pro 2013 diagram and then serve the diagram into a SharePoint Online Page under a Visio Data Access Web Part.
I have no working knowledge of Visio, but made a data connection and presented SPO list data on my diagram. But the data appears to be static when deployed to the Visio Access Web Part - even when I manually refesh. I think, I'm not correctly
adding list fields to my document.
I've set refresh rates on both the document and the web part, but neither help.
For a demo I want to show a single list field - nothing fancy.
Possible to have dynamic data from an SPO List hosted in SPO?
Any way to filter which row is sent from through a URL Query string?
How?Hi ,
Per the following article, the data sources will be disconnected and can't be refreshed after the Visio is published to SharePoint.
"You can publish PivotDiagrams or Timeline diagrams to SharePoint, but they are disconnected from the data sources and can’t be refreshed."
http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/visio-help/save-diagrams-to-sharepoint-HA102749359.aspx
And also I would suggest you post in Office365 SharePoint online forum for a better assistance regarding this issue through the following link.

Hi All,
We are migrating from on-premise SharPoint 2010 to SharePoint online 2013.
I have few questions below:
What are the possibilities and limitations of using Out of the box content search webpart?
Also, how the cross site publishing will work in SharePoint online something with managed navigations and product catalog apporach? if it is not supported, then what are the alternatives to acheive the same?
Appriciate any commnets/clarifications.Thanks in advance.

Compare the strengths and limitations of the Web Parts
It’s important that you understand the strengths and limitations of the two Web Parts because if you choose the wrong one, your site could run into performance problems. You can use both Web Parts to show content that is based on a query. In a simplified
world, here’s how you can decide between the two:
Use the CQWP when you have a limited amount of content, your query is simple, and you don’t expect your content to grow much in the future.
Use the CSWP in all other scenarios when you want to show content that is based on a query.
The table below gives a comparison of the two Web Parts:

Crystal Report Viewer in Sharepoint Page Viewer Web Part
In our SharePoint setup, we have a web part that contains links that either hides or shows three other web parts (page viewer web part). When entering the page, the first web part is shown and the other two are "hidden". Clicking on the links will toggle through these three web parts. Link 1 = Web Part One Visible, Web Part Two and Three Hidden. Link 2 = Web Part Two Visible, Web Part One and Three Hidden. Link 3 = Web Part Three Visible, Web Part One and Two Hidden.
Our problem involves the CrystalReportViewer. We have created a page that allows us to open the last successful instance of a report with the viewer. This works correctly when calling the link directly from IE. When we place this link in either the second or third web part, the report does not show. The viewer borders will appear but the report itself will not. If the .aspx is placed in the first part, the report appears without issue. We do not want the .aspx to be called by the first web part and need it to load in one of the other two. We can get the report to show in the other web parts if you right click on the empty space where the report should be and hit refresh.
What do we need to do to get the report to load correctly in either of the two web parts? We have looked at several options and can not get anything to work. We didnt have this issue when using BOE XI R2 with an .asp opening the reports. Please let me know if more info is needed. We are running BOE XI R3.1 currently.
ThanksWe havent tried that. We changed the link in the web part to access an html page that claims that the report is loading. It states in the html that if the page doesnt load to "click here" which redirects to the crystalreportviewer. Its a temp fix for it. One thing we are looking at is the 64 bit version of the Sharepoint integration kit. That may contain a reportviewer webpart.
Thanks for the reply.

2013 Custom Web Parts in Page Layouts not showing for users
Custom Web Parts in Page Layouts not showing for users
I have created a master page in the root site collection for a subsite I am developing. I created content types and custom page layouts for the pages within the subsite.
I used the snippet tool in the design manager to create web parts and page field markup which I copied into the custom layout HTML pages in the root site collection. For instance I have an image viewer web part that I place there to serve as a section title.
The problem is that I can see all these customer layout page parts no problem but my users cannot. This leads me to believe its permissions, I am site owner of both the subsite and root site collection.
The users that cannot see the web parts are site members of the site and restricted read users on the root site collection (where the layouts are stored).
What gives I'm finding it hard to understand why a snipet generated web part wouldn't show in all pages created from that layout page.
Any help would be appreciated, Havent found anything on this issue online. weird. It is a permission issue indeed. Fix is simple, make sure you check out the page layout page, then check it back in as published version.

SharePoint Report Viewer Web Part Parameter Issue
I'm using the SharePoint Report Viewer web part to display a SSRS report that I have created in a library. Reporting Services is integrated into my SharePoint farm. The report I am displaying has a single parameter that needs to be set.
When I select it and hit "Apply" the "Specify Parameter Values" text disappears, but it doesn't display the report. If I edit the web part the data loads based on the parameter.
I don't know why the apply button is not causing the report to reload.
Any ideas? If I specify a default, it loads correctly. When I select a new parameter and hit apply the report no longer works though.
I don't think this is a browser issue. Even if it is my company uses IE, so if it doesn't work for this then it won't work period.
I'm pretty positive it is an issue with the Reporting Services web part not posting anything when Apply is hit. Every other case of using the report doesn't have any issues other than when it is in the web part. -
What options we can have for monitoring SharePoint Farm till web part level?
Dear All,
I want to monitoring SharePoint Farms till web part level.
2 Farms - SP 2010 & other SP 2013
Farms are with NBL - F5 & clustered database.
Our client have enterprise licenses.
Accordingly please suggest what tool I can use for monitoring, administrating, reporting, alerting etc either
Microsoft's or any third party.
I came to know about System Center will this monitor till web part level.
Sumeet Singhalwe are using the SCOM for our SharePoint monitoring and till now satisfied, we are not monitoring the webparts as we have tons of sites collections:
but there are certain good companies which having the monitoring tools:
Idera: http://www.idera.com/productssolutions/sharepoint/spdiagnosticmanager/productdetails#
and this tool claims that they can monitor from end user's prospective. http://www.gsx.com/products/gsx-monitor-analyzer-for-sharepoint/

Is it possible for a 3rd party program to create a list item in sharepoint online 2013?
I have limited experience with the online version of sp. I've been asked if it's possible for a 3rd party app that our company is beginning to use, to programmatically add items to a list. I don't have any details about the program yet,
but I've been told that a batch would run at night and they would like it to create items in a SP list and pass along several fields of metadata.
Is this possible in the online version? I know that Power Shell can do this, but is it possible for an app to get access to run a PS command?
thanks,Yes.
There is something known as the Client Side (?) Object Model or CSOM. This allows you to create list items, lists and even sites with .Net code from a non server machine.
You could run 'classic' Server Object Model C#/VB.NET or PowerShell to do the same job and it might be easier as there's alot more material out there on how to do it. On the other hand it's probably going to make your solution more complicated and
harder to maintain over the long run.
This article introduces you to the CSOM and how to use it and is applicable to O365 as well as on-premise:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/fp179912%28v=office.15%29.aspx
As an alternative you can look at the REST API which allows you to use web services to interact with SharePoint.

Please try to run the PowerShell command, and compare the result:
$webApp = Get-SPWebApplication "http://ihaveablobproblem.com"
[Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.PublishingCache]::FlushBlobCache($webApp)

Read all projects within Project Online using web part Sharepoint
Hello all. Can we get data of all projects from Project Online in Sharepoint Site? So far as I understand we can get data of list like this:
SPWeb web = SPContext.Current.Web;
SPList issueList = web.GetList("https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/demo/Sample Project 1/Lists/Issues/AllItems.aspx");
Do you have any some good tutorial? I am new on web part Sharepoint.
Thanks in advance.Hello,
Yes you can, I would use the ProjectData API if you are not bothered about security (accessing all projects etc.) or if you want the data returned to be accessed controlled use the ProjectServer API. Examples below:
ODATA API (ProjectData):
<PWA site URL>/_api/ProjectData/Projects
JSOM REST API (ProjectServer):
<PWA site url>/_api/ProjectServer/Projects
Regarding guides, just search for SharePoint apps / App part / client web part. Some simple examples of using the APIs mentioned in JavaScript on the Project sites can be seen below:
