Creating an SWF to play within an SWF

Basically I need to be able to play an SWF file within an SWF
project. The project contains a layout of different navigational
buttons. I wish for one of the buttons to go to a frame containing
an older SWF project I created.
Please help if you can.

Even if the SWF played directly on the timeline it would
still be ok. As long as you were able to alter it's X and Y
positions. ( I really don't care too much about playing AS2 SWF's
eather. I'm more concerned about AS3. Out with the old and in with
the new)

Ok, rick is going to post the fla of this file and I will
post the swf. Basically this is all about having a slide that has
audio running all the way through and enabling the user to roll
over a sidelet and have the video and audio stop playback.
At present, the max you can achieve is, to stop video. The

Hi there paul. Am I right in thinking that your code will
mute the audio. In my situation this would cause problems becasue
you would roll over the sidelet - the audio would go silent and
when you rolled off, or resumed the audio, it would have been
playing so again the video and audio will be out of sync.
Rick - rather than another swf which would activate the audio
and video when you roll off the sidelet ( while that is the perfect
solution ) what about looking at a button the user can press to
resume things, maybe Im wrong but that sounds a little easier.
( however for all those reading this that is not really the
solution I am looking for, what Im looking for is the above
solution where you can just roll off and on and so on )

I've been able to create project jar files in Eclipse by selecting Export from the File menu, then choose Java - Jar file - and provide the required information, name, destination folder etc. But when I do this, I do not export other jars on the build path this way nor do I expect to do this. I am only concerned with creating a jar file of my own work. A jar file does not "contain" other jar files. If the jar file contains the main method, and requires other jars for it's execution, then you may wish to include a reference to required jars on the class path entry of the Manifest file of the jar file you create. I'm not sure how to create a Manifest file in eclipse though..

It's been many, many moons since I've worked with Flash ( Flash 5, Circa 2001 eek! ) and I'm trying to get to grips with the new version. Apologies for anything that might seem "obvious" to full-time flash developers, I’ve never used the Creative Cloud version before and a lot has changed!
Background:
I have a PHP-based system that produces adverts for work - generating a custom XML file for the FLA/SWF to use, putting the images into the advert and creating the resource folders.
This runs from a CSV, so that multiple product adverts can be generated quickly and easily without having to go through and modify each advert manually in Flash (previously a massively labour-intensive task for a team of people). The output of all the advert folder generation and file creation etc. at present is then zipped up and provided to the team to download onto their computer.
Prelude to issue:
In my younger days I would have passed output through a command-line processor on my linux servers to compile into one instance - The advert platform does not allow resource files to be uploaded with it, only a single SWF. At the moment, the SWF requires the resource files in the images and xml folders
What I’ve tried:
I’ve built the PHP system that generates all the folders, resource files and copies in the template swf. This then displays fine in the browser.
Folder structure:

     |_ banner.xml
I’ve had a look online at some of the CC resources and they suggest that a lot of things now happen with the flash javascript interface - from what I’ve seen and some of the example code it appears that this deals a lot with generating content inside the flash instance based on actions etc. That’s not really what I’m after at this point.
My question:
Is there a command-line utility / series of switches to pull the SWF into a "compiled version" or does the latest version of flash require these resource files?
Again, I’ve got no background in the latest version of the system and when I used to do manipulation like this things were vastly different!
If it means that I have to run the scripting on the folders to generate the files once the team have downloaded it from the server that’s fine - I’m just not sure of how to pull this together at the moment.
I looked at the possibility of looping through all the folders generated to "compile" the SWF - I've not seen anything to give a definitive answer as to if this is possilbe as yet.

When I read posts like this where you have issues getting a unique solution to work, I always want to go back to the solution.
You have to create seperate swfs because you're using unique images?
Did you include Air in your options? Servers are the last place you should use the cpu. Air gives you software access to the computer. You can download files from anywhere, use files from the computer, process them using the computer's cpu (no cost, no time concerns), save the generated files to the computer and/or upload them to wherever. Air can inspect the files created too.
Adobe Edge tools are for work creating html, css rwd, html5 animations.

Creating customised swf files using CF?

Hi all.
This is a bit of an integration question.
Marketing create wonderful swf brochures using InDesign to
let them have those cool page turning features. They embed urls
into the document to invite the reader to "click to make a
booking".
Fine so far.
What they have asked me is if there is any way we can
dynamically build these brochures so that:
a) clients can build their own and/or
b) the urls can have some dynamic content
For the latter, they want sales consultants to be able to
generate a brochure and send it out and all URLs in that brochure
will include the consultant ID (for clickback tracking and other
stuff)
I could do this easily enough using a PDF and CFDOCUMENT but
they want the final format to be SWF and to have all those
page-turner extras.
Is this even possible at the current state of Adobe
integration?

I think you are trying to explain how to load two swf's one with action
script and loading an other swf file which should be non action script.If
you read my requirement carefully.I have all the same type of swf's and
these swf are automatically created as a form of output for xcelsius dash
board software.Iam capable of creating individialu ipa files from these swf
files.So when I try to combine the same kind of swf files the first error
its giving is the file name which I have used in the xml.in the main file
name for the swf file its not considering the two swf file name in the
initial window.so the adt package in the command line is not understanding
the file name from the xml and the command prompt and giving error this swf
file does not exist.So please consider how to combine two swf files with AS3
into one ipa file.These swf files are not editable,Let me know if you find
any idea to achieve this

Changing music played within a QuickTime movie created form iPhoto

I am trying to create a QuickTime movie from iPhoto which I have figured out, but I can not figure out how to change the default music. iPhoto indicates that it will use the default music from slideshow, but I can not see where to change that in slideshow preferences? I am able to change the music successfully in a slideshow played within iPhoto, but it does not ripple acorss to the newly created QuickTime movie.

when you're creating your slideshow, you just click the music button (in iPhoto '09 in the older versions it might be in the settings, I don't remember) and choose your song and hit apply. Make sure the "Play music during slideshow" box is checked. Play your slide show (not preview) because this is just what it will look like as a quicktime. Go to export, choose quicktime and check the box that says "Add currently selected slideshow music to movie"
I can assure this works because I was following these steps as I was writing them and I just successfully played a QT with my own music

Edge Animate files can be played in DPS folios. PDFs are not capable of playing Edge Animate files at this time. I did find a work around to get SWF files to play in PDF documents:

Creating link to excel document within PDF portfolio

i created a pdf portfolio and created links to pdf documents within portfolio but am unable to create a link to the excel documents. I can't even create a link to direct them to a specific folder where the item is held. HELP, New to pdf portfolio's!

One option is to create a PDF from the Excel spreadsheet and link to that.
If you want to update the spreadsheet, you could create a Web Content overlay (or HTML article) that links to a Google spreadsheet. I've played around with linking to a Google presentation, and it works fine. You can update the spreadsheet/presentation on the website and the changes automatically appear in the overlay. I've just dabbled at it, so I wouldn't be much help with sizing/formatting issues.

Create one player to play RTP packets from many clients

Am a JMF newbie and I want to create one player to play packets from many clients.
So I wrote a small UDPserver thread within the app to receive rtp packets from the clients on the LAN which in turn forwards them to the player.
I instatiated two threads one to forward RTP packets and another to forward RTCP packets which listens on RTPPort+1
The reason why i do this is that i don't want the whole internet to bombard the player with anonymous voice transmissions.So the server thread is acting as a firewall. To filter out packets from from unknown ip addresses.

Does any one have an idea why this happens?
Are the packets so many that they overwhelm the player so it discards some or all?

THAT IS MY MAIN PROBLEM. In the future, please do a little bit of research before you shout at people trying to help you. I'm so so sorry if you find my answer bothersom because it sheds some light on the fact that you have absolutely no idea what you're doing.
Your problem is that you obviously do not understand how JMF works...and you obviously havn't bothered to do any sort of research into it.
You also don't seem to understand the concept of streaming media, concurrency, politeness, good design, proper programming, audio interleaving, or common sense.
At least i have implemented a player playing packets from 2 different clients.Yeah, you implemented a player that plays packets from 2 different clients using a horrible workaround that doesn't treat the data correctly and manages to just drop data after scaling past 2 clients.
Oh yeah, you've definately found the holy grail there. At least.
You wanna know what your player is actually doing? It's playing a peice of data from A, and then a peice of data from B. It might sound like it's playing them both at the same time, but it's not. It's playing the data from one client in the gaps where there's no data, and once you've filled up the gaps in time by adding more nodes, you'll end up with data getting dropped (and that's the best case scenerio).
my issue is that i wouldn't like to create a player for each participant imagine they were people in a conference that makes it 10 players. Please understand that if you have 10 players, you'll receive 10 times as much data as you can play with one player. You end up either having to drop 90% of your data, or having to play the data at 1/10th the speed... because you're not mixing the audio data, you're interleaving it.
I just want to use one standard port on each client so that all clients send to the same port: The RTPManager class will allow you to receive as many streams as you want on a single port.
As a matter of fact, had you bothered to play with any of the source code readily available online, you'd realize there is a file that does exactly what you want.

It handles receiving multiple RTP streams from a single port, and plays them all simultaniously using an array of player objects.
Does absolutely everything you want, out of the box.
That sounds like alot of threadsIf you're concerned that it's too many threads, well, maybe you should stick to hello world and other things less scary. Concurrent data processing requires threads...one per peice of concurrent data, as a matter of fact, and you're dealing with a lot of streams of concurrent data here.

Skipping songs
The iPod seems to fail to play all of the occasional track that iTunes, and indeed other PMPs, are happy to play. There is probably some minor technical error in the internal structure of the file which is normally ignored by other playback software but causes the Classic to bail out.
If you use Windows you may like to try scanning the files with MP3Validator which can find & fix some internal MP3 errors.
Some users have also suggested that completely removing all id3 tags and then replacing the information can be a solution. This can be achieved in iTunes by selecting an affected track, right/control clicking and using the option Convert id3 tags> None. Since some files may mistakenly have more than one tag you may need to repeat this action. Once you have confirmed that no tag is present you can replace the tag information using Convert id3 tags > V2.3 (I believe it is recommended to avoid using V2.4).
Personally I have found files for which these solutions don't work. In this case the workaround is either to re-rip the tracks or get iTunes to re-encode the file, e.g.convert AAC to MP3 or vice versa and sync the newly encoded file to the iPod instead. Because transcoding will cause a loss of fidelity you should keep your original file so that if a future iPod firmware resolves this issue you can put your original files back onto the iPod.
