Creating 'app' launcher?

I use Synapse to launch all my programs in Awesome WM... my question is, can I make a link or something, so that I can just type 'mail' into Synapse, and that will launch Google Chrome as an app with gmail as the url?
Basically, the command I'd like to execute is
/opt/google/chrome/chrome --app=https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0
thanks...

so just create an empty document, paste this text, name the file mail and put it anywhere?
edit: okay when I run the command I get the following:
/opt/google/chrome/chrome: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
it's very strange because I don't have this issue when launching chrome outside this script...

Please look up for *.desktop file structure, all you need to do is create a /usr/share/applications/komodo.desktop file with the appropriate content. You can start with any other desktop file as template.

Can you create apps after 1st May 2015 using Adobe DPS single edition?
I currently have SE via creatieve cloud - one of the only reasons we switched to CC was for the DPS SE.
Does anyone know if this capability will just be 'switched off' at midnight 1st May 2015?? There are huge costs for going the enterprise route but with no date in sight for Publish to be launched I am not sure I can wait for this, or should I???

Adobe states: Please note that the Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition, service will be available for use until May 1, 2015, but beyond that date the service will no longer be available.
So essentially my licence will expire on 1st May - Adobe's note just mentions 'service' - even though part of CC and I will not be able to maintain my app or create any more IPA's after 1st May. I can't beleive there is nothing to switch over to other than paying thousands of pounds for enterprise??
Just all so vauge, feels like a plug is going to be pulled and thats it??? Maybe I am missing something?

App Builder - Create App from InDesign - "Sign In Failed - Please Try Again"

I'm launching the App Builder from the Folio Builder Panel in InDesign (CC), by selecting my folio and choosing "Create App". When App Builder launches, it immediately errors, saying "Sign in failed, pelase try again". I can select "Log Out" in the corner, and Log In (successfully), but then a message box appears telling me to create an app I need to launch app builder from the folio builder panel.
I have read the support article regarding folio and article names causing an error, but all my names appear to be ok - all just smallcase, no spaces or special characters.
Anyone have any tips?

Make sure that you use your Creative Cloud account to sign in to the Folio Builder panel, and then choose Create App. If that doesn't work, try signing out of the Folio Builder panel, choose Create App, and then sign in.

Is there a way to create apps for HTTP access instead of using UNC?
And have it access via Application Explorer?

Do you mean an app to launch a web page via IE/NetScape?
Just run "IEXPLORE.EXE" with the webpage as the parameter.
Of do you mean HTTP connectivity for the workstation to run an app?
The 2nd starts to exist in ZFD4 in some fashion , but not ZFD3.

Create app fails at sign in of app builder

We go to create app in indesign, it then checks the folios and preps to launch the app builder but fails the sign in. the message says signin failed pls re try. Trying manual sign in it said wrong password.
Got new password, re signed in at all points sucessfully with new password. Tried again at app builder, which was the latest download and the same happened again, all this with the new password. Is there a known issue with the app builder, where do we go from here?

Hi Neil,
Yes, I'm a Creative Cloud member. I did originally purchase a Single Edition and then subscribed to Creative Cloud.
When I created my first app which is live on Apple, we exported the .zip file and uploaded into the viewer. I did have to do the load twice, as the .zip file failed the first time giving a file of around 15mb with the final file in the second upload being around 170mb.
With this second app creation, we are not asked for the serial number of the single edition, so assume it goes straight through the Creative Cloud membership. When creating the app from InDesign, the program seems to check the files very quickly and put them into the App Builder and came out around 15mb - hence my concern that it hasn't created an app from the full folio files. The error message is right at the end of the App Builder process when digitally signing the developer app.
Hope this is enough info to fathom the problem!

You can't. The iOS SDK requires Mac OS X and an Intel Mac; Windows applications can't be put on either the iOS or Mac OS X App Stores.

IBM WPS: Error While Creating App and Int Server Connections in JDev 10g

Hi,
I have been struggling to create App Server and Int Server connections in JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 without any luck.
The JDeveloper is present on VM ware machine from which I'm trying to establish the connections to remote server where SOA Suite 10g is installed on IBM Websphere.
My Settings:
App Server:
Connection Type: Standalone OC4J 10.1.3
RMI: tried WC_defaulthost port, 6003, RMI default port (How do I get the actual value of RMI on IBM Websphere and does this really make a difference?)
Connection test fails with Mbean error. Ignored this error as documented in Installation guide.
Int Server:
Used the above App Server connection, gave the http port value of 9700 (also the WC_defaulthost on IBM Websphere)
Connection test fails for App Server, BPEL PM Server and ESB Server.
I have gone through other threads where different workarounds were suggested but none of them worked for me. The workaround of adding the property ipaddr with the value 0.0.0.0 in opmn.xml doesn't hold good here as IBM WPS doesn't have OPMN.
Please suggest a working solution for this issue.

Target Portal.jpr is not runnable, using default target index.html.

1. Did you just created a new wcp application in jdev and ran it with out doing any changes? If you have done what are the changes?
2. How did you ran your application? (right clicking a particular page or right clicking your portal project and selected "run" option?

Creating .app folders in other operating systems?

I'm working on a cross-platform game and am hoping to create an OS X port of it. I don't have access to a mac, and so am unable to use the xcode tool for creating .app folders. Are there any tools for creating .app folders on other operating systems? I'd prefer Linux, but can also use windows if required.

Well, .app bundles are specific to Cocoa and Carbon applications... The closest way to make such applications is to use GNUStep (which is an open Cocoa) but it means to rebuild the whole app to make it work with Cocoa/GNUStep...
However, application that are compatible with Mac OS X are not necessarily in .app bundles. Bundles are used for a specific purpose which gather files that the app should have really close, like its interface files (nib) that is used only with Cocoa or Carbon. If your app is neither Carbon nor Cocoa, there's no use in creating a .app bundle it doesn't even exist. And moreover, Xcode (or Project Builder on GNUStep) is the only app that creates .app bundles.

InDesign CC - "Create App" option missing from Folio Builder panel

While watching a Terry White video I made an app along wth the tutorila All works fine in the Desktop Viewer. When it reaches the point of going to the "Folio Builder" panel mine does not have the "Creat App" option that Terry White has. Is this because I have windows not

App manifest start page url :

In XML it is:

When i am deploying app pressing F5 the app gets deployed successfully....
Now i am changing my start page url in Appmanifest like this:

Have you set up a wildcard DNS entry for the spapps.com domain?
Also if you're trying to connect from the server you might be hitting loop back check issues.

Duplicate apps launching

In Mavericks 10.9.5 I've been having duplicate copies of apps launching. I've noticed it w/Mail & Acrobat Pro. Don't know what causes it - can't duplicate it intentionally, just noticed that it's been happening lately.

I got duplicate apps in iTunes too, but I'm still on 10.5. It copied everything on my iPhone 3.0.1 onto the computer when I synced this morning.
I do sync my desktop with my 10.6 laptop, though, so there's a possible way for Snowy stuff to act up.
