Creating DMP file

Hi All,
We are taking dmp file. Is there anyway to edit DMP file?.
If any Please Suggest.
Thanks,
Rajiv Birari.

Hi,
>>We are taking dmp file. Is there anyway to edit DMP file?.
It depends. Although it is not advisable by Oracle and millions DBAs around the world, in fact, using a hexadecimal editor like Editpad or others you are able to edit it. The question is: What are you trying to change in the DMP file?

  • Problems creating dmp file from script

    Hi,
I am running portal 9.0.4.1 on solaris and am trying to create the export dmp file from the downloaded unix script. I use the following command line:
    gc.sh -mode export -s portal -p <portal schema password) -c <sid>
I then accept the default dmp file name. However, the following error is then returned:
ld.so.1: exp: fatal: libclntsh.so.9.0: open failed: No such file or directory
    Killed
This part of the export/ import operation is now complete.
I am then returned to the command prompt, but with no dmp file created and the .out file containing just the word "error".
Any ideas where I'm going wrong????
    Thanks for your help.

Your LD_LIBRARY_PATH is most likely not set properly. Try to execute sqlplus from command line and make sure that works. Once you're able to connect to the database via sqlplus from command line, retry the export/import again.

  • Series Selection Creating .DMP File for Customised Form

    Hello ,
I have created a Customised form with series selection from SAP .
While registration bydefault "Primary" named series is created for that customised form.
Then i added one more Series named " 10-11" with indicator as '2010-11' and set it as default series.
Then i opened the customised form and entered the data it gets saved without any problem.
After that i again went to the Document Settings and change the series from '10-11' to 'Primary' and
select the indicator as 'Default' and saved the settings.
When i opened the customised form the series shown is the changed one as 'Primary' but while entering the data and saving
it system shows ".dmp file created" and sap shuts down.
Then i have to unregister the UDO for that form and to delete all data entered for that form from table to make it work agian.
This is the Problem which i am facing while using the Series in the customised form and its been a trouble some
    for me .
Suggest any path to sort out this problem arising.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hello Manish,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
    I am using SAP 2007 B Patch - 13
But my question is if this problem occurs even after Patch upgradation then what will be the step for resolving that.
In future if this problem arises what steps i have to take to remove this problem  without affecting my data.
    Suggest.

  • ERROR WHILE CREATING .DMP FILE FROM .CMD IN EXPORT/IMPORT PORTAL DB PROVIDE

    Hi,
I have exported a PORTAL DB PROVIDER in Portal release 2 and downloaded the script for NT. But when I try to
export the .CMD script using this command : myexp.cmd -mode export -s [portal_schema]
    -p [portal_schema_password] -c [connect_string] -pu [portal_username] -pp [portal_userpassword] -d [dump_filename], the command line resulted the following :
    Mode Selected is EXPORT
then was unexpected at this time.
Could someone kindly tell me what might went wrong?
    Thanks.

had the same problem and ended up just letting it prompt me for some of the info. For example, run:
    myexp.cmd -mode export -s [portal_schema]
    -p [portal_schema_password] -c [connect_string]
it will then prompt you for the portal_userpassword (used to login to the portal) and then the dump file name. Then it runs.

  • Dmp file created using data pump

    Hi All,
I have created dmp file using oracle datapump utility and identified that even after dropping dmp file physically from hard disk. I saw there is no storage release. Is there any specefic way to get spaces free from disk?

    - there are physical files on the file system
    - you delete these files
    - file system does not show an increase in free space
Just how is this an Oracle issue, never mind a SQL and PL/SQL language issue?
Oracle physical (datapump) files are no different than Excel spreadsheet files, are no different than mp4 movie files, are no different from any other file...
If deleting a physical file from a file system does not release that allocated space and increase the file system's space, then you need to ask that question to file system. Not Oracle. Not SQL. Not PL/SQL.
What is the o/s and what is the file system? Then use that, and your issue, as criteria for a stfw exercise.
And yes, this is not an uncommon issue on Unix based file systems as an in-use file can be "deleted" - which means the file entry is removed from the file catalog, but the iondes, containing the file's contents, are only wiped (and space released) when the open file handles for that file are all closed.

    hi shyamsundar
    Go to C drive-->Programfiles>SAP--
    >Sap Business one
in this you find one log folder  in this log folder
remove files whichever with files .dmp
    for example:
    SAP Business One_20110910093750.dmp
and similarly delete files from  %temp%,recent, prefetch, cookies and recycle bin and restart ur system .
Now u will not get any dmp error .

  • Create a test DB from  the export DMP file

    Hi Gurus,
I was able to create the DMP file by export and transfer it to the test machine. It is a Windows OS.
Now in this machine I recently installed Oracle 11g. And I have this export *.DMP file in a dir.
I need to import the DMP file which into this newly created database to give a test database in 11g.
I also created the user for which the export is done.
I need to know how to import the DMP file. I am new to this import-export business.
    Thanks
    Amitava.

    Hi,
    Use IMPDP:
    impdp username/password@dbname full=Y directory=<location of the dmp file> dumpfile=<dumpfile name> logfile=<logfile name to be created>

  • *.dmp file in ../cluster/server0 created and growing automatically

    Hello,
we have setu up NW 2004s on Linux. On two instances (J11 and J13) there is a file created in the directory .../cluster/server0 which is called something like that:
    core.20090814.055825.15954.0001.dmp
This is growing really fast until the directory has 100 % and the instance crashes. We only see this happening on these two instances (we have other similar servers). Is there a setting on NW which creates these *.dmp files?
Can I shut this file creation off?

That files is created because your instance is crashing, not vice versa.
A core file is a snapshot of a process including its current memory content, so if you java/jlaunch process allocates at the moment it crashes  e. g. 2 GB then the file will be as large.
You have to find out the root cause of the crash. So please check the logfiles (dev_server0, std_server0.out, dev_jcontrol etc.)

  • No DMP file created after Export

    Hi All
I am trying to export MyDB schema on OMS as a dmp file. After completing the Export Wizard, the message says "The job has been successfully submitted. You can view the status of the job in the Active Jobs pane of the Enterprise Console Manager". I am using Oracle 9i. I don't get any ORA errors or what so ever when I run the Export Wizard.
Then when I look in the c:\oracle\oracledata\MyDB there is no DMP file there.
Am I missing any steps here in order to create the dmp file besides running the Export Wizard.
Any help deeply appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Dear All
    I have sorted the problem.
I had assign "Logon as Batch Job" policy on Local Security Policy to a Windows User "Solongo" that I am currently logged in as, and logon to OMS and set the Preffered Credential as "Solongo" and ran the Export Wizard. Guess what, now I have export.dmp file residing on c:\oracle\oracledata\MyDB.
    Thank you all

I don't think there is an API for this. If your concern is export import only, you can simply spawn a process from Java that runs exp or imp. (Using the Runtime class: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/lang/Runtime.html)

SAP Client Throughs the .dmp error in All our Client Systems.
And in server System too this error is coming and Closes itself Automatically.
We have Tried Cleaning Temp File Folders.
And We Have deleted the .Dmp files generated in Local Settingss\Application Data\SAP folder.
After Reports are opening normally .Again After Some times this .Dmp is created and Client Closes itself.
And We couldn't use Set Authorize In Report & Layout for Each Users.
