Creating dup app in different schema...

I have found a few notes on exporting/importing applications, but they don't tell me whether the export is a copy or move. I need to keep both schema's versions of the same application. My original version is under my personal schema. I am ready for office wide testing. How do I copy my application so that I have both versions, but under different schemas. Exactly how do I do that? Is it simply exporting the application and then performing an import?

Hello,
>> but they don't tell me whether the export is a copy or move
Export is a copy. APEX creating a SQL script, which include all the application meta data. Your original application is stay intact.
>> Is it simply exporting the application and then performing an import?
Basically Yes. You are exporting your application on one server, and import it on the other. As part of the import process, you can choose the schema in which to install the application.
However, as you are installing your application on a new server/schema, you need also to copy and install all the supporting objects (on the database level) your application is using. You can read more about how to deploy a new application in the following - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32472_01/doc/appdev.300/b32471/deploy.htm#BABGJIAD .

  • Creating an app for different screen resolutions/sizes

    Hi
I'm currently in the process of learning application development for the iPhone and could do with some help on how to cater for retina and non-retina screens. I want to create image assets for each screen type.
What the best way to go about detecting if the user has an iPhone 4 for example and selecting the appropriate images for that resolution? I understand that you attach '2x' to file names when coding natively but for a pure Actionscript project where the assets might be contained in a swc file what would be best to do?
    Thanks

    Hi Vic,
The biggest advantage of building apps in Flash CS5.5 or Flex is the ability to target multiple devices and the 2 major platforms, iOS and Android oh and also Blackberry (anyone?).
Best way to approach a build is to assume you do not know the screen size your app will be used on, since Android is so all over the place.
I have been using stage.stageHeight and stage.stageWidth religiously for all my scaling although I have heard that method has its problems, it has worked well for me, I have put out 2 apps personally and 3-4 for work using this method both in Landscape and Portrait orientations and this method has worked well.
The easiest way to build a multi screen app is to design it for an average ratio, 3:4 being the lowest = iPad so lets say you pick some decent size that wont be too big for smaller screens like the iPhone 3gs 480x320 and wont be too low for high res screens like the new Google Nexus or the Motorola Xoom 1280x800. I usually target the iPhone 4 screen 960x640 right now it seems to fall in the middle between older phones and tablets.
The real quick and dirty way of doing it is to build all your assets inside a movie clip and then scale that movie clip proportionally to the stage, first checking to make sure none of it would be cut off due to different screen ratios, this is not the best way of doing it but it works well and its the easiest method.
A better way is to scale and place your content in relation to the stage, again the stage.stageWidth and Height properties are your friends so if you have an element that always goes in the middle you would place it my_mc.x = stage.stageHeight / 2 and same with the y, you can also scale it to the stage my_mc.width = stage.stageWidth/4 this way the movie clip is always 1/4th of the stage width regardless of the screen, its a lot planning up front but this method allows you to cover the entire screen instead of just cramming your movie clip in there however it fits.
Let me know if any of that helped I can go into further detail but I feel like I am rambling on.

  • Create trigger on view belong to different schema of same db

    Hi Guru's,
I have two different schema in the same DB.
    Example : schema1 and schema2
I have one view on schema1 and i have grant select to schema2 and create synonym for that view.
Now i need to create trigger on synonym which created from view in schema1 and insert the data into different table from trigger when insert happen on view.
first of all , is it possible?
if its possible then do i need to give create any trigger on view to schema2.
Or is there any other we can get this done..
    Many thanks.

Triggers operate on tables and views (but I'll just say "table" from now on). It doesn't matter if the statement that caused the trigger to fire used the actual table name or a synonym.
which created from view in schema1 and insert the data into different table from trigger when insert happen on view.
first of all , is it possible?I'm not sure I understand you here, either.
It is possible to have a trigger on a view in schema1, which INSERTs data into a table. That table can be in any schema, just so long as the trigger owner has privilges on INSERT into it.
if its possible then do i need to give create any trigger on view to schema2.It's very dangerous, and usually a terrible idea, to grant the CREATE ANY privileges to users.
Schema2 needs the CREATE ANY TRIGGER system privilege only to create a trigger in another schema, such as schema1. There's probably no reason to do that. Let schmea1 create the objects in its own schema.
Post a test script that shows what you want to do. Include CREATE TABLE, CREATE VIEW, CREATE TRIGGER, CONNECT and INSERT statements, and the results you want (the contents of tables where the trigger INSERTed data). If you don't know how to code something, post the closest thing you can, and explain what you really want to do in that place.

  • How to create directories with same name in different schemas

I have two schemas on the same database.
I am trying to create directories with same name, but different paths in both the schemas.
When i created the directories in second schema, the directory paths of the first schema are automatically changed to the second path.
Is there any solution to create directories with same name, but different path in two different schemas on the same database.

    Hi,

If you have removed the REPLACE clause of your create statement, then you would see that is not possible.

I don't know what database system you use, but in the most I know it is done that way:
    SELECT
    A.COL1,A.COL2.....

  • How to grant update privilege on custom procedures created in apps schema?

    Hi
We have R12.0.6 instance running in our organization. Our programmers keep requesting the 'write (update)' access on some custom procedures that are originally created in apps schema. I created one read-only like database user and granted 'execute/debug' privilges on those custom procedures, but still using this user procedures cannot be updated (in sufficient privileges).
Once they modify procedure, forwarding me the code. Using apps user profile, i can recreate procedures using create or replace command. This way it is working fine. Our concern is how they (programmers) themselves using database read-only user does this job? What privileges needs to be granted?
    Please guide me?

  • Create table with references pointing to values in a different schema

    Experts,
Is it possible to create table in one schema with references pointing to column values in a different schema?
    Say, I have 2 schemas A and B

    ALTER TABLE A.EMP ADD (
    FOREIGN KEY (DEPT_ID)

I know there is no sense in doing this, still would like to know for making some temporary workaround.

Yes this is possible with right privilege:
    SQL> grant connect, resource to a identified by a;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> grant connect, resource to b identified by b;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> connect b/b
    Connected.
    SQL> create table p (x int primary key);
    Table created.
    SQL> grant references on p to a;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> connect a/a
    Connected.
    SQL> create table c (y int);
    Table created.
    SQL> alter table c add foreign key (y) references b.p(x);
    Table altered.

  • What's the privileges to create foreign key to a different schema.table ?

    Hi
In my current schema I want to add a new foreign key. But this key is referencing to a table in a different schema, like this:
    Alter table some_table ADD ( Constraint FK_01 Foreign Key (L_ID) References schema.table (LL_ID));
and getting the error - ORA-01031 insufficient privileges
Which privileges do I need for this (At this time, I have only GRANT Select)? Any help would be much appreciated

    Hi,
You need GRANT REFERENCES object privilege to the user.

  • Unable to create Oracle Apps Adapter whose API parameters are Records

    Hi All,
I face an issue in creating an Apps adapter whose API parameter's are of type Records. From previous posts I came to know that its one of the bug in JPublisher.
I'm new to this term. Can you please provide how to create this adapter?
Exception raised: The Wrapper procedure could not be found in the package for the schema.
    Thanks
    Karthick

where are you getting this error ? Sometimes some API's cannot be called from Oracle Apps Adapter, will be getting some JPublisher Error, try configuring the same API from Database Adapter, this workaround works sometimes....
If you get the error in a different instance while it was working in earlier instance, read further...
Generally when you are working with the oracle apps adapter, and for any API, the input paramaters are record types, there will be a wrapper package created for the API you have configured. So, this error comes when you migrate the composite to a different instance, make sure you have moved that wrapper package also to the new database instance, if you do that, this error will go.
    Hope this helps,
    N

    Hi Alexander
sorry , forget the grants , they should come from the source system .
If you have multiple App-Servers , did you perform the above mentioned action in all affected profiles and environments of your Q-System ?
Please check , if you can limit this issue to an separate App-Server or to all App-Servers .

  • AddApplication Method requires public key to create child app. Connection Factory expects child app public key alias to contain app id

I'm working on implementing the AddApplication method so I can create child apps for my java web application.
The AddApplication method schema requires a public key. I'm assuming this must be different than the public key associated with the parent app, as it failed when I tried that, so I've created a new one.
The ConnectionFactory code that will later access this public key to connect expects the public key to have an alias that is:
    {appid}.keyname
This creates a chicken/egg scenario. The public key I'm using to create the child app cannot have an alias that includes the app id, as it hasn't been created yet.
Can someone tell me how other folks are doing this? Or what the intended process is?
Do I have to create one public key for use in creating the child app, then create another one once I have the child app id, and update the app with it?
    Thanks!

    Hi Joanne,
I am reviewing the Java SDK source in an effort to understand how they are abstracting the Master/Child methods provided by the HealthVault platform XML API. I will provide an answer as soon as I have it.

  • Need to build a form based on a table in a different schema

    Hello all,
I am still new to APEX. I have been playing with it for a few days.
I have an APEX user 'demo' whose default schema is demo1.
But I need to create a form that can insert, update and delete based on table 'employee' in schema demo2.
Demo has all the rights on employee table in demo2. I also assigned the demo2 schema to demo user's workspace.
But when I am building the form, demo1 is th eparsing schema, but in table/view owner only demo1 is available. I don't see demo2 even though I assigned it to demo user's workspace.
Is it possible to build a form based on a table in a different schema? I tried creating a synonym, but it doesn't show up in the list of tables to select from.
I don't want to create views or anything because there are many tables in different schemas and it's not possible to go on creating views or such for each one.
I was able to access th etable in a report though by prefixing the table name with the schema name.
I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.
    Thanks!

    Varad,
Thank you for the explanation. So from what I understand, every time I create a form or report based on a table in a different schema, just change the parsing schema in application definition to the new one and create the form or report. So this way my forms and reports or whatever can be based on different tables in different schemas and they would run fine when deployed in a runtime environment (provided the appropriate privileges are there on the objects in context)?
I tried this and I was able to see the different schema and select the table and create the form. I haven't tested in runtime though.
Seems like a feasible option, need to test all scenarios though. If this is a feasible solution then there is no need to create synonyms or views (I am not talking about others' scenarios such as security etc) etc. Just appropriate privileges will do it.
Thanks Varad. Have you used this way of creating a form in your apps? I need to explore more to see if it breaks anything.
So, every time I need to select an object, say a table, in a different schema I need to temporarily change the parsing schema to that schema in the application definition? Is that a correct statement?
I will leave the thread open to see if anybody has any comments.

  • How can I create a host name site collection when I have a 443 web application already created for App model?

    Hi all,
I have a 2013 farm set up with the App model
1 web application for path based site collection using host name
1 web application with SSL (no host name)
    1 web application for mysite
My business request is that  I need to migrate SSL enabled 2007 content to this farm and use host name site collections.  I tried to create one more web application for this without any luck (the 443 IIS folder is already used by another web application).
I thought I bind the previous 443 web application with another IP address should be fine.  Seems like the IIS site is taken (https://server name:443) so it will not let me create one more.  How can I solve this problem so I can create the web application
to host those host name site collections?  Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sally

    Hi Trevor,
Thanks again for your quick reply.  I try the option 2 right after your post.  I use my front end server name for public URL (https://WFEName:443) and it fails again.  The error message is:
The directory C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\443 is already being used by another IIS Web Site.  Choose a different root directory for your new Web application.
After reading more, I saw mix Hosted Name Site collection and Path-based site collection aren't recommended.  Unfortunately I already have Path-based site collection created with App model web application
(the web application without host name) in my farm.  In my Option 2, that web application without host name is used for App routing.  This takes the root folder 443 which will not allow any other web application to use the same name again.
Does that mean we can't create Host Named Site collection in the same farm?  Is there any configuration I need to check?
    Thanks again.

  • Accessing tables from different schema in CDS and AMDP

    Hi All,
We are working on a HANA system which has several schema replicated from SAP R/3/Non SAP systems. We have BW 7.4 SP9 deployed on the same system and accessing the HANA views using latest BW virtual objects such as Open ODS , Composite providers etc.
We are also using the BW system for few ABAP based data processing developments. We are currently accessing HANA views in ABAP programs by creating dictionary views based on external HANA views.
We would like to however use recent possibilities of CDS and AMDP for better life cycle management of ABAP based solutions. The open SAP course on this subject was of very good help. Thanks a lot "open SAP team" for that. I would however have few open questions,
As I understand AMDP gives us full flexibility of writing sql procedures within ABAP development environment, but can we access tables from different schema into AMDP code. If yes, then sample code would help.
If the answer of first question is yes, then how do we manage transports between development and production systems where the schema names would be different. Currently in open HANA developments, such transport is manged using Schema mapping.
Can I also use different schema tables in CDS views.
We are updating few tables in ABAP dictionary after applying processing logic in ABAP program as detailed in step 1. With the new approach using AMDP, can we directly update database schema tables which will give us an optimization advantage.
New ABAP HANA program interfaces are quite promising and we would like to use them to optimize many data intensive applications.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anil

    Hi Anil,
I can only answer 1. and 2. (and would be interested into 3. as well):
    1.
Yes you can access tables from a different schema and also HANA views. In this case no 'using' is needed.
    Examples:
        RESULT = SELECT
        FROM
              "SAP_ECC"."T441V" AS t,
              "_SYS_BIC"."tmp.package/AFPO" AS a.
        WHERE ...
    2. In this case, if you need schema mapping: You could use HANA (projection) views which just forward to a different schema, also see example.
    Best regards,
    Christoph
