Debug an abap-mapping
Hi,
how can I debug an abap-mapping?
I cannot take the test-tool of Michal Krawczyk or SXMB_MAPPING_TEST, because I need the original payload of the mail-sender (with dynamic configurations and all payload-attachments).
I have to debug it realy inside the intergration engine.
... but how can I set breakpoints to debug the mapping session?

In your SE80 settings you can define for which user you want to activate the external break point. maybe you will temporarily have to change the user type form service to dialog.
if you are unsure about the user you can find out the user in your abap mapping program by reading sy-uname and then throw a type X message with userid as message parameter.

I've debugged ABAP Mapping with SXI_MAPPING_TEST transaction.
If you have creted a scenario including your ABAP Mapping, you only hace to put the correct sender/sender interface and receiver/receiver interface. You have to put some XML document as an input.
I wrote in my code the Break-point instruction an debugged the process without problems.

Cyrillic characters issue in ABAP mapping
Hello Experts,
I am using ABAP mapping program to convert IDOC XML to flat file. Further i am using FIle adapter to write this file on FTP server.
My problem is:
When Idoc contains CYRILLIC characters in payload, then these characters appear as "#" after the mapping has executed.
If I check in SXMB_MONI in XI, the inbound payload displays data correctly. In "Request Message mapping" node, if I check the output of ABAP mapping program, then cyrillic characters are replaced with "#". The same "#" is then written to File.
Do you have any idea, how do i deal with this problem.
NOTE: I tried passing encoding type = UTF-8 to the function - SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING which is used the mapping program to set the encoding type, but it did not work.@PI Expert: I tried to debug the ABAP mapping using SXI_MAPPING_TEST transaction, however when I paste my payload in the editor, the cyrillic characters appear as junk characters. Due to this, in the output, these junk characters are appear as "#"
@Sarvesh: I too initially thought that this could be problem with AL11, that it is not displaying the data correctly. However when I checked the "Request Message Mapping" node in SXMB_MONI, it showed "#" characters. Also the .csv file generated contains "#" only.

Debug ABAP code used for ABAP mapping

I have worked on Abap mapping. I have executed the code in SE24 to acheive desired mapping and the desired output is also generated.

I just want to debug and see if an input is provided how does each of these methods make a difference to it.
I tried to input some value in the SOURCE parameter on executing the code but it is not working fine.
Could you please suggest hiw i should go about so that i can see the exact way the input Xstring is affected by each of these methods in the debugger.
Help will be appreciated.

Write a Small Report as Folows:
1. Create your XMl payload of Type xSTRING.
2. Call the method EXECUTE
Place a Breakpoint on the method. and then keep debugging inside.
the SetParamter method is obviously called from inside.
This is the Simplesrt Solution.

I want to debug into the mapping class, someone said jsut set break point in the mapping class and run sxi_mapping_test, then I would be able to debug. However this doesn't work, the execution doesnot stop at the break point (I set session break point, not external break point). Somebody can help?

** How to debug ABAP Mapping at run time?
Hi Friends,
We have created one class using the interface IF_MAPPING and the method EXCUTE. Inside the class we have written coding. We refer this class in the interface mapping as mapping program. But, while execute the scenario, how do I debug my class ? (If it is proxy, we will mention the user name in XI adpater CC, refer the same user in ABAP external debuggine, but in the abap mapping class how do i refer..?

We are implementing a project on XI.
We need to freeze on one mapping.
I feel ABAP Mapping provides the following advantages:
1.SXI_MAPPING_TEST is a very good transaction for debugging and testing mapping environment of XI.Iam not sure wether java mapping can be tested after deploying it on XI.
2.ABAP Mapping is well integrated with the XI and also version control becomes very easy as it is provided by the SAP transport system.
3.ABAP also provides user rich/simple API's as java.
4.Support of XI in ABAP would make sustanenace easy as it is going to be a more SAP product and ABAPers are more available in ERP background.

all of the step in the message flow after a message enter
the IS will be done by the abbap stack e.g. Receiver
determination, interface determination, ... The only one
step that is executed in J2EE-Stack is the mapping.
In the pipline the system jump from the abap stack to
Java stack to execute the mapping if the mapping is done
in Java (message mapping, java mapping, xslt,...).
But if the the mapping is done by abap the the runtime
has not to jump to the java stack to execute the mapping.
Because there is no java code to execute. To clarif: if
you have only abap-mapping the the compete process step
do not include the jump to the j2ee-stack of XI. So in
this case the abap mapping is more performant cause the
runtime stay in the abap stack through the complete
message processing.
But if you have mix mapping e.g. first step abap and
second step java then the j2ee-stack will be used as
well.

Java mapping can be used when you have complex mapping structures.
We can do most of the times for our requirements through Graphical mapping.
When the structures are very complex to build you can go for SAX (Simple API for XML) or DOM (Document Object Model) parsers.
Message mapping internally generates DOM parser.

ABAP mappings run on ABAP Stack and are developed in the ABAP workbench of the Integration Server.
You normally do not need to use the ABAP mappings and is preferable for someone with ABAP programming background. I should say JAVA functions would suffice any complex scenarios.

You need to provide the name of your mapping program maually , you see it is an input box.
just provide the name of abap mapping program it will work.
and one more thing you cannot test abap mapping program in integration builer you need to test in abap only.
use tcode: SXI_MAPPING_TEST for testing abap mapping

i am using ABAP mapping for IDOC to XML. I am able to test it using sxi_mapping_test which gives me output XML. But, when i test the scenario from RWB, it fails with "SYSFAIL" error in inbound queue as per moni.
error - "Error in Control Framework".
Looks like it did not even go to message mapping pipeline step.
Please help.

Please also try to debug as follows...
put a break point inside your class/method....
goto tcode SXI_MAPPING_TEST....give in the configuation details of your scenario...and when you execute, give the IDOC-XML, copy it from SXMB_MONI where you are getting the error....
when you execute, it shoudl stop at the break point that you had set in your class....continue debugging using 'F6' function key, and check where you are hitting this error...
The chances are that the FM that converts IDOC-XML to flat file format might not have been executed correctly...

I am trying to parse an XML file which structure is the following.

</Order>
More exactly I try to check all values of tag name "BookingCode" up to the end of the XML file. The number of occurrences of "BookingCode" is not determinated.
Is it necessary a loop after collecting a list of occurrences of "BookingCode"?
I am trying to use:
data: node_iterator type ref to if_ixml_node_iterator.
node_iterator = incode->CREATE_ITERATOR( ).
data: emp_node type ref to if_ixml_node.
emp_node = node_iterator->GET_NEXT( ).
data: emp_node_list type ref to if_ixml_node_list.
emp_node_list = emp_node->GET_CHILDREN( ).
data: emp_node_list_lenth type I.
emp_node_list_lenth = emp_node_list->GET_LENGTH( ).
Using the debugging I can not find exactly the behaviour.
Any suggestion for solving my issue will be well appreciated.

I followied the how to guids "How To convert an IDoc-XML structure to a flat file and vice versa in XI 3.0" and "How to Use ABAP-Mapping in XI 3.0".
After I built created the ABAP-OO class Z_ABAP_MAPPING_IDOC_TO_FLAT and implemented every thing, during the testing, I got the error "Exception CX_SY_NO_HANDLER triggered, An exception with the type CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL occurred, but was neither handl".
Please help.

ABAP Dictionary structure for use in ABAP Mapping
Hello, I'm creating an ABAP mapping class which requires me to use standard ABAP dictionary (table) structures (ex.MARA, KNA1 etc) for the mapping as the data coming into the mapping is in that format. I'm creating the ABAP class in the PI server and do not have table structures (MARA, KNA1 etc) in the dictionary in the PI server. What is the efficient way to create these structures (as Z elements) in the PI server's dictionary?
I have the XSD of these table structures. Can I import those XSDs into the ABAP dictionary in PI servers? If yes, how can it be done?
